Kane, Doris Mae

On January 26, 2005, Doris Mae Kane of Millersville. Devoted wife of the late Francis Kane for 47 years; Beloved mother of Carol Hare, Janet Bennett, Kathy Butler, John Hammell, Karen Costello and Kevin Kane; Loving grandmother of 13 and great-grandmother of 21.

A member of Christ Lutheran Church of Millersville, Doris also enjoyed sewing, gardening and computers.

A memorial service will be held at 11 AM on Friday at the family owned Singleton Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations would be greatly appreciated to the Hospice of the Chesapeake, 445 Defense Hwy., Annapolis, MD 21401.

Mary L. Kacprzyk

Mary L. Kacprzyk, age 74, of Newark, DE, died Friday, January 9, 2004 at her daughter's home, surrounded by her loving family.

Mrs. Kacprzyk was a homemaker who enjoyed spending time with her family, going to Delaware Park, and was a knowledgeable sports enthusiast. Her husband, John J. Kacprzyk died in 1978. She is survived by her daughter, Mary Ann DiRocco and her husband, Chick of Townsend, DE; her sons, John J. Kacprzyk of Newark, DE and Steven J. Kacprzyk and his wife, Lana of Middletown, DE; her grandchildren, Krissy, Tammy, Brittney, Matthew, Alyssa and Ryan; 1 great granddaughter, Brianna; and her sister, Doris McGonigle of Wilmington, DE. She was predeceased by a special friend, Richard S. Crews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral service at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Road, Pike Creek on Thursday, January 15th at 12:00 noon, where friends may call beginning at 11:00 am. Internment will follow in All Saints Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers please make contributions to the Zoe Q. Francis Fund, c/o the Lukemia Society, P.O. Box 1716, Millersville, MD 21108.

Kane, Douglas Preston

Douglas Preston Kane, 67, of Havre de Grace, MD died Wednesday, November 14, 2001 at Christiana Hospital in Newark, DE.

Mr. Kane was born on August 24, 1934 in Grosclose, VA to the late Buford Edgar Kane and Wille Mae Sexton. He served in the United States Army from 1951 to 1960. He was a member of IBEW Labor Union #70, the American Legion Post #297 and a lifetime member of the 25th Infantry Division Association.

He was preceded in death by both parents; a brother, Buford (Pete) E. Kane, Jr.; and a sister Elsie Pauline Baker.

He is survived by his wife JoAnn Kane of Havre de Grace, MD; a daughter Lisa Ann Kane of Bel Air, MD; 3 stepdaughters, Joyce Ricks-Haller, Sheila Wilkerson and Pearl Scarborough all of Delta, PA; 2 sisters, Mary Durham of Aberdeen, MD and Betty Angelucci of Havre de Grace, MD; 3 brothers, Jerry Paul Kane of Virginia, William Henry Kane of Alabama and Ricky Gene Kane of Aberdeen, MD; 3 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service was held on Friday, November 16, 2001 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 615 Congress Ave, Havre de Grace, MD. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.

Kahler, Charles Buck

OCEAN CITY - Charles "Buck" Kahler, age 80, died Saturday, February 17, 2007 at his home in Ocean City. Born in Baltimore, he was the son of the late August and Agnes Kahler of Essex, Md. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 55 years, Lilly May in 2005.

Buck was a WWII US Navy Veteran. He was employed as a senor electrical start-up engineer with The Bechtel Power Co., retiring in 1991. He was a member of St. Luke Catholic Church, Delmarva Irish American Club, I.B.E.W. Local #24, AARP, VFW Post 8296 and the American Legion Post 166.

He is survived by his son, Charles "Buck" Kahler Jr. And his wife Linda of San Jose, Calif. And daughter Patricia Fyffe and her husband Jack of Preston, MD; 2 brothers, August and David Kahler both of Baltimore; 2 sisters, Irene Oldelwurtel and her husband Frank, also of Baltimore, and Agnes Mattheu and her husband Frank of Glen Rock, PA.; 6 grandchildren; Jamelen Mahan and her husband Greg, Jason Kahler and his wife Nadia, Jenifer Miley, Jesse, Casey and Sean Fyffe, and 2 great grandchildren, Shianne and Christopher Miley.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday 11 am at St. Luke Catholic Church where family will receive friends one hour prior. Rev. Thomas Protack will be the Celebrant. A graveside service will be held Saturday 12 noon at Glen Haven Memorial Park in Glen Burnie. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Buck's honor to Coastal Hospice PO Box 1733 Salisbury, MD 21802. Arrangements are being handled by the Burbage Funeral Home in Berlin.

Kanarr, Paul E.

Paul Emerson Kanarr of Prince Frederick, Maryland, died Monday, April 27, 2009, at the Envoy Nursing Home in Denton, Maryland. He was 87 years old.

Mr. Kanarr was born on the family farm, Cherry Tree, Montgomery Township, Indiana County, Pennsylvania on August 7, 1921. He was the son of the late Nancy Jane and William Ruffner Kanarr. His wife, Mary Christine McDonald Kanarr, died in June, 1998.

Mr. Kanarr served in the Army Air Force from November 9, 1942 until February 14, 1946. He was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Prince Frederick and also the American Legion Caroline Post 29 in Denton.

Mr. Kanarr is survived by three daughters: Paula Gunson of Seaford, DE, Mary Phillips of Denton, and Susan Harris and her husband Donald of Denton; five sons: Ronald Paul Kanarr of Fargo, ND, John Wesley Kanarr and his wife Marie of Hurlock, MD, David Michael Kanarr and his wife Stephanie Fridie of Salisbury, MD, E. Scott Kanarr of Prince Frederick, and Kenneth Emerson Kanarr of Owings Mills, MD; 13 grandchildren: John Gunson, Kimberly Kanarr, Brian Kanarr, Adam Kanarr, Amy Naugle and her husband Kevin, Christopher Kanarr, Bryan Miller, Jade Phillips and his wife Amy, Dustin Harris, Daniel Harris, Eric Kanarr, Nicholas Kanarr, and Amanda Kanarr; and 15 great grandchildren: Molly, Brady, Drew, Darnell, Chase, Madison, Ronnie, Connor, Kate, Abby, Ashley, Chazz, Jersey, Kylie, and Luke Phillips. He was preceded in death by a son, Donald Patrick Kanarr in May of 1983; and eight brothers and sisters: William, Aaron, Lelia, Ellsworth, Charles, Frances, Morna, and Ralph.

The funeral service will be 11 AM Saturday, May 2nd, at the Moore Funeral Home, P.A., 12 S. Second St. in Denton, MD 21629 where friends may call from 6 until 8 on Friday evening and one hour before the service. The interment will be in the Denton Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests for friends to send memorial donations to the charity of your choice.

Kafka, John J.

John J. Kafka 86, Of Colonial Heights, died Tuesday January 25, 2005 at his residence. He was the son of the late Frank C. and Carrie Burton Kafka, was the widower of Yvonne S. Kafka and was a retired Civil Service employee at Fort Lee after 32 years of service He was an active member of Woods United Methodist Church, and was a Sunday School Superintendent for over 50 years and where he sang in the choir and was soloist for many activities in the area. He was the last of the original six men in the Woods men's chorus. He was a charter member of the South Chesterfield Ruritan Club, and was a member of the Chesterfield Historical Society.

He is survived by two daughters; Donna K.Deal and husband John of Richmond, Jan K. Dozier and husband William of Chesapeake VA, two sisters; Virginia "Pete" Stone and Harriet "Dolly" Lau both of Chesterfield; five grandchildren, Virginia Deal Largent and husband Steve of NC, W. Matthew Dozier and wife Heather of GA, Rebecca Deal Long and husband Bill of Richmond VA, Frank J. Dozier and wife Glory of Manassas VA, Kristen J. Dozier of Chesapeake, and one great granddaughter, Amber Yvonne Dozier.

A funeral service will be held 11:00 A.M. on Friday January 28, 2005 at Woods United Methodist Church, 7200 Hickory Road Chesterfield, with Dr. Al Lynch officiating. Interment to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 7-8:30 in the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Home & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard . Flowers are welcome or memorial donations may be sent to the Crater Community Hospice 840 W Roslyn Rd Colonial Heights 23834

Jackson, Lillian Katherine

Lillian Katherine "Nanny" Jackson, age 77, of Elkton, MD, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 6, 2008. Nanny was a loving and devoted grandmother and great grandmother.

Nanny is survived by her daughter, Patty & husband, Richard Roth, Sr.; grandchildren: Wendy & husband, David Steele, Cookie Roth & Chad Davidson, Richard Roth, Jr. & wife, Gwen; great grandchildren: Ashley, Richie III, Chloe, Jonathon, Eric.

Services and burial will be private.

Jackson, Nicole Deneane

NICOLE DENEANE JACKSON (Nikki) of Havre de Grace, MD departed this life Friday June 1, 2007 at Stella Maris Hospice, Timonium, MD. She was born October 26, 1975 at Harford Memorial Hospital, Havre de Grace, MD to Aleko Jackson and Agnes (Martin) Mosley.

Nikki was a very loving, kind and outgoing person. Although Nikki was born deaf she loved to dance, travel and loved all people, she never let her 'deafness' get in the way of living her life. She attended the Maryland School for the deaf and graduated in 1994. Nikki lived in California, Ohio and Baltimore before returning back to Havre de Grace.

She loved living in the City because there was so much to do and learn. Nikki would fly, drive or take a train to visit family and friends. Nikki was very independent and loved working and paying her own way. She worked at Saks 5th Avenue, Rite Aid and McDonalds until the doctors told her that she was too ill to work any longer. Nikki was very special to our family and we all loved and cherished her and she will be dearly missed.

Nikki is survived by her mother, Agnes Mosley, father, Aleko Jackson, Step-father Michael Mosley, grandmother Esther Martin, Sister, Bridgette Johnson, Brother-in-law, Eric Johnson, niece, Bria Robinson and a host of aunts, uncles and cousins.

A Memorial Service will be held Thursday, June 7, 2007 at 6:45 p.m. at the Lisa Scott Funeral Home, P.A., 552 Lewis Street, Havre de Grace, MD where family and friends are welcome to greet the family starting at 6 p.m. Interment will be private.

Jackson, Melva Sue

GREENSBORO, Melva Sue Jackson, 75 Greensboro, died at Thursday, November 29, 2001 at Skyway Manor, Annapolis, MD

She was born February 01, 1926 in Baltimore, Maryland the daughter of the late Earl Schwaline and the late Adda Schwaline. She is survived by Kenneth L. Jackson (Son), Jerry A. Jackson (Son), Many brothers and sisters, Granddaughters: 2.

She was preceded in death by her husband Lester Jackson.

Services will be private.
