Waldon, Mary Catherine

Mary Catherine (Collins) Waldon was born on September 3, 1921 in Bel Air, Md. to the late Daniel and Lula Thomas Collins. She was reared by her aunt and uncle, Tom and Hattie Hill.

Mary Catherine married Francis Waldon more than 65 years ago, and they are the parents of five children. She was a loving and devoted wife and mother.

She received her early education at Kalmia Elementary and Bel Air Colored Schools and her early Christian Education at Clarks Chapel Methodist Church. She joined Mt. Zion Baptist Church under the pastorate of the late

Rev. M. C. Phillips about sixty five years ago. She loved to sing and was a member of the Senior Choir and The Choral Ensemble traveling to local churches for many years to sing for Women's Day Programs. She was a faithful member of the Pastor's Aide Ministry, assisted in the kitchen and helped any ministry when needed.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her loving husband, Francis Waldon; children, Patricia J. Brown (Alberto), Anderson Waldon (Wilhemina) and Earl F. Waldon; adopted daughter, Linda Holly; grandchildren, Phillip N. Harris, Jr. (Donna), Douglas E. Harris, Sr. (Dia), Kevin D. Harris, Irene V. Wright (Sam), Michael T. Harris of Afghanistan, Shiena Webster, Monique, Maurice and Courtney Waldon, Tammy N. Waldon of Hawaii, Alex L Waldon (Saeko) of Japan, Jamar Waldon and Earl C. Waldon; great grandchildren Philmilia Casey, Samara and Candace Wright, Vonavia Harris, Timothy Webster, Shantell, Kevin Jr., Devyn Harris, Douglas E. Harris II, Ovant Hill, Javonte Waldon and Jaysean Waldon; great great grandchildren, Dessa and Demi Myles, Steven M. Williams (Jai), Anthony Webster and Daijoun Sconion; loving sister, Hattie Galloway; brothers Wade Boman and Carvel Warfield; sisters in law, Bertha Taylor, Marie Waldon and Drema Waldon and brothers in law, Winston Waldon and Bishop Claude Waldon (Alberta); loving nephew James Collins (Phyllis) and cousin Standiford "Bunny" Hill and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends, loving church family members Catherine Adams, Theresa Winder and daughters and Mr. & Mrs. Jeffrey Martin.

She was predeceased by children Patrician Dade and Clifton O'Neil Collins and adopted son Dwight Holly; siblings Alice Boyd, Thelma Jones, Florence Scott and Louise Warfield.

Visitation will be held Wednesday October 6, 2010, 4p.m.-7p.m. at Lisa Scott Funeral Home and Thursday October 7, 2010, 10a.m.-12p.m. at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 520 Lewis Street, Havre de Grace, MD where funeral will start at 12p.m. Burial will be in St. James United Cemetery, Havre de Grace, MD.

Jones, Tommy E.

TOMMY EARL JONES son of Delores Jones and the late Nathaniel Earl Jones passed into the loving arms of his Savior on November 10, 2010. Tommy was born in Suffern, New York on March 27, 1964 and was raised in Newburgh, New York. He graduated from NFA High School in 1983 and attended Dutchess College for 2 years. He joined the U.S. Army in 1985 and served for 4 years as a chief cook. After leaving the U.S. Army he attended and completed his studies at Anne Arundel Institute of Technology for computer and communication electronics. He was employed by ADT/TYCO security systems of Columbia, Maryland for 15 years.

Tommy was a "Renaissance man". He enjoyed fishing, vacationing, cruising, camping, and basketball. He was in the little league and served as a boys scout for 3 years. He enjoyed carpentry, plumbing, electronics, and he did it all with excellence.

Tommy was preceded in death by his grandparents, Luther Cook and Tommy Jones, two uncles, Rufus Alford and Cleophus Austin, mother-in-law Theresa May Brooks. Tommy leaves behind so many people he truly loved. These include his beloved wife, Sharon Leticia Jones, daughters, Shanell Monique Ringgold and Shavonne Patricia Barkley, son, Kevin Tommy Castek, mother Delores Jones, father-in-law Tyrone Brooks, Sr. and wife Jodene, brothers, Nathaniel Jones, Randy Jones, and Christopher Jones, brothers-in-law, Anthony Brooks, Tyrone Brooks, Jr., and Eugene Short, sisters-in-law, Sheila Short, Ivy Brooks and Stacy Jones, special aunts, Gladys White and Bernice Johnson, special cousins, Marintha Nash, and Angela White, four god children, Isaiah and Joshua Brooks, Aryka and Aden Williams and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.

Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday November 17, 2010 at Holy Temple Holiness Church of Deliverance, 2016 w. Pratt Street, Baltimore, MD where friends may call starting at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Garrison Forest Veterans Cemetery, Owings Mills, MD.

Witherspoon, Sclena "Sug"

Sclena Parson Durham Witherspoon was born on March 29, 1924 to the late Norman and Goldie Parson of Havre de Grace, Maryland. She was the eldest of five children. She was fondly called Sug, by family and friends.

Sclena entered eternal life on Thursday, January 13, 2011 at Citizens Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Havre de Grace, Maryland. Sclena was preceded in death by her brother Pennycoe Parson and a sister Mary Galloway.

At an early age she joined St. Matthew A.U.M.P. Church. Sclena remained active until her health started to decline. Her church family called her Mother Witherspoon. She was a member of the choir, served on the Usher Board and served on several committee's. She sang with the United Choral Ensemble. Sclena was a also a member of the Evening Star Chapter #20/OES. Sclena loved to cook and enjoyed entertaining family and friends, she had a wonderful personality that could light up a room.

Sclena was educated in the Harford County Public School System. She demonstrated her culinary talents at Harford County School and Bayou Restaurant. She later worked as a Nursing Assistant providing comfort to many with her kind caring heart.

Sclena married Richard Durham and later in life she married William C. Witherspoon, who preceded her in death. Sclena was the mother of eight children. Three children preceded her death. Carouso Durham, Mary Walton (George) and Catherine Clayton (Larry).

Sclena was the matriarch of the family. Sclena was a loving daughter, wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother and a friend to all.

She leaves to mourn three daughters, Diana Heath (James) of New York, Mildred Durham of Baltimore, Maryland and Tryvinnia of Havre de Grace, Maryland, two sons Norman Whittington of Randallstown, Maryland and Roscoe Durham (Elmira) of Fallston, Maryland. Twenty-five grandchildren, thirty -five great grandchildren, ten great-great grandchildren, a host of nieces and nephews, cousins, and many friends. Many thanks to Gloria Lee Smith, her adopted daughter.

Visitation will be Saturday January 22, 2011, 10a.m.-12p.m.with funeral starting 12 p.m. at St. Matthew A.U.M.P. Church, 563 Revolution Street, Havre de Grace, MD. Burial will be in St. James United Cemetery, Havre de Grace, MD.

Wilson, Inez I.

Inez Wilson affectionately known as "Nettie" was the 2nd daughter born to the union of the late Calvin and Cleo Irving on January 8, 1941. She departed this life on January 18, 2011.

She was religiously trained at Progressive Baptist Church pastored by the Late Dr. Murphy W. McCalb where she accepted Christ at an early age and was involved in the Jr. and Youth choirs.

Nettie graduate from Booker T. Washington High School in 1959 and from there attended Dillard University of LA.

In 1961 she married the late John L. Tobias, Sr. (Johnny) and from that union came 2 children John Jr. and Nedra. In 1966 Nettie moved to California where she settled in the San Francisco, CA where she met and married MacAuthur Wilson and from that union came 1 son Eric.

For 18 years Nettie was an employee of the United States Post Office until she retired in 1988 after which she relocated back to New Orleans, LA and immediately made 1st African Baptist Church ministered by the late Reverend E. Darnell Jones, DD her church home.

With the devastation of Hurricane Katrina she relocated to Belcamp, MD with her daughter and her family where she found an outpouring of love and support from her family at New Hope Baptist Church ministered by Reverend Mark R, Nolan, Pastor.

Set to retire from Xavier University of LA in January 2006 Nettie's retirement was hastened by the trying times immediately following Hurricane Katrina.

With the support of family, friends and church family Nettie set out to rebuild her life settling in the town of Bel Air, MD where she lived until her home going.

She leaves to cherish her memory her husband MacAuthur Wilson; 1 daughter Nedra Tobias-Lyons, 2 sons John Tobias, Jr. and Eric Wilson; 1 devoted son-in law Karl A. Lyons and 1 daughter-in-law Lavita Hill-Wilson; 1 loyal sister Joyce (Tedo) Noel; 4 grandchildren Erica Wilson, Kambrell Lyons, (Kami) Karl Lyons, Jr., (KJ) and Eric Wilson Jr.; devoted cousins, Adrienne Harrell, Jackie Augustine, Marie Williams and Angela Hall; a beloved cousin affectionately known by Nettie as Niece Kristel Tross; and a host of other family and friends.

Inez was preceded in death by her parents.

Visitation will be held Tuesday January 25, 2011, 10a.m.-11a.m.with funeral starting 11 a.m. at New Hope Baptist Church, 116 Alice Ann Street, Bel Air, MD. Upon Inez's request she will be cremated.

Casey, Channie Louise

"Louise" also known as "Lou-Lou", was born on July 24th 1941 to her mother the late Essie Virginia Carter in Crewe, Virginia. She departed her life on Saturday, December 4th 2010 at the age of 69 at the University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore, Maryland.

Louise received her early education in Crewe, Virginia and there she received her high diploma from Luther H. Foster High School. After meeting and marrying her husband Mr. Wallace H. Casey, they decided to move to Maryland in 1967. Once in Maryland, Louise attended Harford Community College, then to the Community College of Baltimore County, she transitioned to Morgan State University, and as well as the University of Maryland College Park, receiving several certifications and her Bachelor's Degree, all to pursue her career in Education.

Louise was a dedicated teacher for 30 years, she taught three generations of children at Hall Cross Roads (Aberdeen), Roy Williams (Aberdeen) and the Head Start Program in Havre de Grace, Maryland. She was a passionate teacher. Her words of guidance, always managed to help motivate and inspire others.

As a Christian woman, Louise joined the congregation of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in the 1980's . She progressed in the church as a very active member that participated in Sunday school, Vacation Bible School, and a member of the Senior Usher Board. Louise continued to rejoice the Lord everyday of every week while at home.

Mrs. Casey was a devoted wife for over fifty years to Mr. Wallace Casey they were soul mates that shared true love. They exchanged vowels to love one another through sickness and in health, for richer or for poorer until death do them part. They loved one another with all of their hearts and they would do anything for each other.

Mrs. Casey leaves her loving memory and legacy to her 5 children: Renay (Bruce), La'Contiss, Patricia, Al (Berta), Maxwell (Myrna), and one step-daughter: Jackie (Manuel). She was the grandmother of fifteen: Tenay, Philmicia, Sinay, Elijah, Elisha, Delissa, Alonzo, Russell, Deonte, Tiffany, Tykeisha, Cierra, Olivia, Xavior, and Emondi. She was also the great-grandmother to 12 children. She is also survived by an uncle Rex Hubbard (Cleo), step-brother Leroy Carter, her favorite cousins Phyllis Pearson and Mary "Chrissy" Hubbard, and a host of loving nieces, nephews, and cousins that live all around the United States.

In addition to her mother, Essie V. Carter, Channie Louise Casey was preceded by her great aunt Rachel, step-sister Betty Jean Simmons, and son Wallace F. Casey Jr.

Channie Louise Casey loved her friends and family very much. She was a beautiful woman with a kind heart and Great Spirit. She will truly be missed, but never forgotten.

Visitation will be held Thursday December 9, 2010 11a.m.-12p.m. at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Havre de Grace, MD where funeral will start at 12p.m. Burial will be at Berkley Cemetery, Darlington, MD.
