Bond, William Monroe

William Monroe Bond was born on October 9, 1946 to the late Gover and Pauline Bond in Darlington, Maryland. "Billy" departed this life on Friday, December 3, 2010 at the home of his parents in Darlington, Md.

Billy was educated in the Harford County school system, attending Central Consolidated School in Hickory, MD. He started his Christian walk in his early years as a member of Hosanna AMEC; he often reflected fondly on many of the older Saints of Hosanna. Billy was endeavoring to lead a surrendered life as he read and listened to the Word.

Billy joined the Armed Forces serving in the Navy and was a Vietnam Veteran. Upon his return to civilian life he was employed by the Maryland National Guard as a Helicopter Maintenance Mechanic. Later he was employed as an Ammunitions Explosives Operator at the Army Test Center, Aberdeen Proving Ground, where he retired in the spring of 2004. After retirement he went to work as Shift Supervisor at Sephora Distribution Center, Perryman, MD.

Billy was a member of Susquehanna Masonic Lodge #25, F.A.A.Y.R.M., earning the title of Ill. William M. Bond, 32nd Degree. He was also a member of the V.F.W. Post #6054 in Perryman, MD.

Bill was a fun loving person, though shy in his own way. He loved his family and was proud of his children. His favorite hobby was fishing with friends. He was an avid reader and TV watcher. He loved the History Channel and the Classic movies and recently had developed a love for the Christian network channels and literature.

Billy leaves to cherish his memory; one son- Justin Bond, Baltimore, MD., three daughters- Kita D. Wiggs, Austin Texas, Wanda Bond, Abingdon, MD., Kiersten L. Bond, Belcamp, MD., two grandchildren- Kierra D. Bond and Camden A. Batiste, Austin, Texas. Two brothers- Gover D. Bond, Jr. (Lucilla T.), El Paso, Texas, Donald Jones, Port Deposit, MD, four sisters-Bernice V. Glover (Robert W.), Martha P. Dew (Willie L.), Darlington, MD., Alberta E. Waldon (Claude D.) and Betty J. Scott, Aberdeen, MD., and a very special friend, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his younger brother, Robert L. (Infant), his sister, Genevieve Jones and his parents Pauline E. and Gover D. Bond, Sr.

Visitation will be held Friday December 10, 2010 10a.m.-12p.m. at Hosanna A.M.E. Church, 2418 Castleton Road, Darlington, MD, where funeral will start at 12p.m. Burial will be at Berkley Cemetery, Darlington, MD.

Hall, Cynthia V.

CYNTHIIA VERNIICE HALL of Churchville, Maryland departed this life on Tuesday, October 26, 2010 at Doctors Community Hospital, Lanham, MD. Cynthia was the daughter of the late William and Hattie Smith.

Cyn as she was affectionately known to her family and friends was raised in Harford County Maryland, where she lived her entire life. She attended Central Consolidated High School in Harford County, Maryland. In 1962, Cyn married William L. Hall Sr. From this union they had four children. After nine years of marriage, Cyn and William were divorced. She received her certificate as a nursing assistant, and landed a job at Citizen's Nursing Home, where she worked for thirteen years before health challenges forced an early retirement. Cyn was known for her sewing ability. She designed clothing for her children as well as herself. In her spare time Cyn enjoyed making floral arrangements for her friends and family. She also enjoyed attending all family functions, and celebrating life in general. Cyn loved to ride her wheelchair up and down Asbury Road visiting her family. Each morning she would join her baby sister Kathy for a hot cup of coffee. At an early age she attended Sunday school at Asbury United Methodist Church. She later gave her life to Christ and became a member of St. James U.A.M.E. Church, in Darlington, Maryland.

Cyn leaves to cherish the memory two daughters, Paula Wells(Michael), Tracey Winslow (Eddie), both of District Heights Maryland, one son William L. Hall Jr. of Harford County Maryland. She was preceded in death by her daughter Pamela V. Hall. She also leaves to cherish her memory seven grandchildren Michael, Larry, Nicole, Willie, Christopher, Erica and Matthew. Six great grandchildren Briana, Autumn, Larry II., Michael, Pamela, and Malachi.

Her life is also celebrated by her six sisters Victoria Brooks (Clinton) of Suitland MD, Joyce Holly (Bunny), Vivian Buchanan, Sonia Smit(Lee), Kathy Smith (Chucky), and Sharron Preston all of Harford County MD. Cyn was preceded in death by two brothers William K. Smith, Milton O. Smith, and one sister Lola E. Smith

She had a special place in her heart for her nieces and nephews, especially Breona, Teaira, Dasean, and Annashea, and a host of friends and relatives who will forever treasure her memory.

The family will receive friends on November 1, 2010 at 10:00 am until time of service at 12:00pm at Highway Holiness Church, 511 Edmund Street, Aberdeen, MD. Burial will in Asbury Cemetery, Churchville, MD.

Bell, Margaret E.

MARGARET EMMA BELL, was born on December 31, 1922 to the late Annie Lee Pope and Edgar Joel Pope in Verona, Pennsylvania. She departed this life Wednesday, October 27, 2010 at Citizens Care Center, Havre de Grace, Maryland. She was 87.

She was a former resident of Pittsburgh. She moved to Havre de Grace, Maryland to live with her daughter. She received her education at Verona and Pittsburgh Pennsylvania Schools. She worked for Mr. & Mrs. Joseph Sprankle II for over 35 years.

She was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church in Pittsburgh, PA. After moving to Havre de Grace, Maryland she joined St. James A.M.E. Church. She was a member of the Palestine Chapter #5 Order of Eastern Star Prince Hall Affiliation, Mosiwidael Temple #38 Daughter of Elks, I.B.P.O.E. of W. (Alpha #1, Past Daughter Ruler Council, Pennsylvania State Association Past State Presidents' Club, Eliza Taylor Past Grand Circle and Directress of the Pennsylvania State Daughters Monitors) Sportsmens #913 American Legion Auxiliary (Past President of Allegheny County Council) Charlton Miller #6054 VFW Auxiliary and Formerly Lucky Ladies Club.

She was a quiet woman who loved to sew and make flower corsages.

She leaves to mourn; 1 daughter, Pearl (Alvin) Holland; 2 grandchildren, Byron Howard and Mary Franklin; 2 great grandchildren, Aaron Howard and Kenneth Lee; 3 great great grandchildren Aaron, Jr. Arik, and Avery Howard; 1 brother-in-law, William (Willa Ruth) Howard; 4 sisters-in-law, Ruth Peaker, Lois (Chris) Christens, Joyce Hariston and Mary Collins; 2 Godchildren, Roberta Butler and Otis Golden; 4 step children; Thomas Bell, Angela Davis, Racheel and Arnold Gore; a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband James Adolph Bell, 1 grandchild, Margaret Ann Gore, 1 brother, Edgar (Bill) Pope, 3 sisters, Annie A. Pope, Ethel Mae Gold and Helen Corchado, sister-in-law, Myrtle Spates and Juanita James.

Visitation will be Wednesday November 3, 2010, 10a.m.-12p.m.with funeral starting 12 p.m. at St. James A.M.E., 615 Green St, Havre de Grace, MD. Burial will be in St. James United Cemetery, Havre de Grace, MD.

Stansbury, Lori Lynne

Lori Lynne Stansbury was born at Harford Memorial Hospital in Havre de Grace, Maryland on June 7, 1966 to Wardell V. and Cassie N. Stansbury. She departed this life in her home on April 10, 2010.

She enjoyed a wonderful rearing in this city and she graduated from Havre de Grace High School on May 31, 1984. As a high school student, her extracurricular activities included cheerleading, track, music, dance, and fashion design.

Her personality was possessed of many positive traits. She was tactful, altruistic, easy going, tender-hearted, sensitive, highly motivated, and goal directed.

Lori's collegiate education began at Norfolk State University and ended with her graduation from Morgan State University on May 19, 1991, with a Bachelor of Science in Telecommunications. She was proud to be a student at Morgan State, because her godfather, Uncle Czech, served as her thesis advisor and Chief University Marshal at her commencement.

Among her recognitions at Morgan State were: Dean's List Honorable Mention in the Spring 1991; Dr. Clayton C. Stansbury Importunity Award, and Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges in 1990-1991.

Lori is a member of the Howard L. Cornish, Morgan State University Alumni Chapter. She is a lifetime member of the Morgan State University National Alumni Association and was scheduled to receive her life membership plaque and membership card on May 14, 2010. Her family will receive the award on her behalf posthumously.

Her professional career included working four years for The Travers Organization, a private investigation company, two years with the Chamber of Commerce in Charlotte, North Carolina in tourism, and one year in telemarketing and retailing.

A dream of her life was fulfilled when she became a flight attendant with US Airways in 1996. Domestic flights carried her throughout the United States. The international tour carried her to many countries in Europe, South America, and the Caribbean.

Lori leaves forever cherished memories with her parents, Wardell and Cassie Stansbury; sister, Sheila Stansury - Havre de Grace, MD; grandmother, Ara Nixon - Fredericksburg, VA; godparents, Dr. and Mrs. Clayton C. Stansbury - Baltimore, MD; aunts, Carrie Gordon - Philadelphia, PA and Margaret Cason - Birmingham, AL; uncles, Reverend Marcus Stansbury, Sr. - Havre de Grace, MD and Russell Stansbury - Bel Air, MD; devoted cousins, Sharon Stansbury - Atlanta, GA; Duane Gordon - Philadelphia, PA; Marcus Stansbury, Jr. (Cheretta) - Aberdeen, MD; Angela Rutherford - Fayetteville, AR; William Rutherford (Kristie) - Friendswood, TX; Robyn Braswell (Billy) - Mitchellsville, MD; Alan Cason (Kim) - Ellicott City, MD; godchild, Amari Barnes - Havre de Grace, MD. Predeceased are her grandparents, Clayton and Mary Stansbury, and William Nixon.

She will forever remain in the loving memory of many friends and family.

A Memorial Service will be held at 12 p.m. on Friday April 23, 2010 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 520 Lewis Street, Havre de Grace, MD. Family and friends may call 11 -11:45 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Lori's name to the charity of your choice.

Chapman, Sr., George B.

George Benson Chapman Sr., son of the late Albert and Alice Chapman was born on May 26, 1931 in Cecil County, MD. He departed this life on Wednesday, January 5, 2011 at his home in Port Deposit. He was preceded in death by the following: his wife, the late Betty Louise Chapman, his daughter the late Sheila Chapman; 1 sister, the late Mabel Chapman, and 7 brothers the late Charles, Albert Jr., Ernest, James, John, Arthur (his twin), and Daniel.

He received his education in the Cecil County Public School System. He left school early due to the death of his father to care for his mother and his siblings. He retired from Price Brothers, in Perryman, MD. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He received an Honorable Discharge.

George accepted and loved the Lord. He was a faithful member of Cokesbury First Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Steven L. White. There he served as the Senior Deacon. He loved the church members; moreover, he loved his pastor and he showed us his love.

George united in holy matrimony with Betty Louise Brown on December 25, 1951. They were married fifty-seven (57) years until Betty's departure to be with the Lord. From this union, 7 children were born.

George loved his family and the people in his community. He was a "Jack of all trades". He was caring. He was a friend to everyone he met and no one he met was a stranger. He would help anyone who needed it. He was known for his quick wit and humor. George loved life and his Lord. His grandchildren and great grandchildren were delightful to him. George loved to fish, watch TV sports, watch wildlife TV, and he loved going to the senior center. You could always find him tinkering outside and was quick to instruct the grandchildren how to "fix" things the right way. He always had a word of advice for his sons-in-law.

He leaves to cherish his memory 5 daughters, Victoria Chapman-Berry, Georgianna Hogue (Walter), Annette Wilson (Calvin), Lavenia Fields (Marshall), Ernestine Thompson (Mark), and his only son, George Benson Chapman Jr. (Enola); 23 grandchildren; 36 great grandchildren; 2 sisters Catherine Wilson (Roy) and Sarah Clay; 2 brothers Richard (Catherine) and Eugene (Helen); 3 sisters-in-law, Mary Chapman (wife the late John), Mary Chapman(wife of the late Arthur, his twin), Leola (wife of the late Daniel); 3 brothers-in-law, Franklin Stewart Sr., Earl Brown, and Carl Brown; a host of nieces; nephews; cousins; many that became his sons and daughters of love; many close friends.

Visitation will be held Monday January 10, 2011, 6p.m.-8p.m. at Lisa Scott Funeral Home and Tuesday January 11, 2011, 11a.m.-12p.m. at First Baptist Church, 282 N. Main Street, Port Deposit, MD where funeral will start at 12p.m. Burial will be in Mt. Zoar A.M.E. Cemetery, Conowingo, MD.
