Stockman, Willa Loudell

On Tuesday, November 09, 2010, at her home in Denton, MD, Willa Loudell Stockman lost her almost year-long battle against pancreatic cancer.

Willa Loudell (Lou) Stockman was born in Frostburg, MD in March of 1940. She was the daughter of the late Willard E Otto, Sr. and Jennie C. Bickford. She was preceded in death by her younger sister, Connie J. Price and brother, Willard E. Otto, Jr. She grew up in Baltimore City and graduated from Eastern High School in 1958. She married Franklin K. Stockman, Jr. on January 30, 1960, and they had three daughters and a son before moving to Maryland's Eastern Shore in 1971 where she devoted herself to raising her children and became involved in square dancing. Lou thoroughly enjoyed bowling; she hit the lanes on the same league in Easton for 35 years. Lou has worked as a teacher's assistant at Denton Elementary, as a proofreader for Waverly Press and spent her last decade as a caregiver and teacher at the Denton Child Development Center.

Lou has always been a gifted gardener with flower beds that flourish over acres. She was an active member of the Caroline County Garden Club for several years where she enjoyed the many trips and projects with her fellow CCGC members. Fifteen years ago she decided to make some life changes and began Yoga classes at Evergreen Cove which opened her life to a whole new group of wonderfully spiritual friends.

Lou is survived by her loving husband, Frank, her three sisters: Peggy A. Soltis, Sandy L. Bornscheuer, and Janice C. Lewis, as well as her four children: Stephanie and her husband Frank Ireton of Lanham, Stacie and her husband Stuart Waller of Houston, Susan Stockman and Bobby Malzone of St. Michaels and Frank D. Stockman and his wife Marnie of Cordova. She also leaves behind six grandchildren: Sienna and Sequoia Chupek, Sommer and Sophie Waller, David and Josie Stockman as well as her granddog, Logan.

A celebration of Lou's life will be at 6 PM on Friday, November 12th, at the Moore Funeral Home, P.A., 12 S. second Street in Denton where friends may call from 2 until 4 and from 5 until 6 before the service. The interment will be private.
