Baer, Shirley Jane Henry

Shirley Jane Henry Baer of Seaford, DE, died Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2002 at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital. She was 68.

She was born Feb. 17, 1934 in Preston, MD, the daughter of the late Levin J. and Christina Schevel Henry.

She was a homemaker, dedicated wife and an avid reader. She was baptized and confirmed in the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Preston.

She is survived by her husband of 50 years, George Baer, whom she married on Nov. 9, 1951, a son, Robert Baer of Salisbury, a daughter, Deborah Street of Bridgeville, DE, one granddaughter and two grandsons; three sisters, Anna H. Lord of Seaford, Martha Hopkins of Easton, and Evelyn Tucker of Preston, and one brother, William Henry of Cookeville, TN. A brother, Levin Henry, Jr. preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, Feb. 24, 2002 at 2:00 p.m. at the Framptom-Hawkins-Eskow Funeral Home, P.A. in Federalsburg. Interment will follow in Bridgeville Cemetery in Bridgeville, DE. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 1:00-2:00p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the Immanuel Lutheran Church, PO Box 39, Preston, MD 21655.

Backert, Anna M.

Anna M. Backert, 85, of Salisbury, died Wednesday, January 22, 2003 at Manokin Manor Princess Anne. Born in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late James and Agnes Prochniewski Kopinski. Her husband, Bernard A. Backert preceded her in death November 19, 1996.

Mrs. Backert attended St. Francis deSales Catholic Church. Prior to moving to Salisbury, she lived in Blowley's Quarters, Maryland.

She is survived by a daughter, Valerie R. Silk of Salisbury; a son, Richard Backert of Dundalk, MD; four grandchildren: Linda Heim of Salisbury, Jeffery Silk of Yigo, Guam, Kurt Backert of Parkville, MD, and Erich Backert of Dundalk, MD; a sister, Elizabeth Myskiewicz of Virginia; seven great-grandchildren: one niece and one nephew.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held Saturday, January 25, 2003, at 12 PM at St. Francis deSales Catholic Church. Visitation will be Friday evening from 7 to 9 PM at the Holloway Funeral Home in Salisbury.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Association, Eastern Shore Branch, 213 W. Main St., Suite 205, Salisbury, MD 21801.

Arrangements are being handled by Holloway Funeral Home, 501 Snow Hill Rd., Salisbury, MD 21804.

Easter Sr., Elmer L.

On June 19, 2005, Elmer L. Easter Sr. of Pasadena. Devoted husband of 46 years to the late Dorothy Easter; Beloved father of Pete Easter Jr. and his wife Brenda, Darlene Barbour and her late husband John, Murray Easter Sr. and his wife Deborah and Terry Easter and his wife Cathy; Loving brother of John Easter, Charles Easter, Irene Berger and Jane Stein; Loving grandfather of 6 and great-grandfather of 3. He is predeceased by seven sisters and one grandchild.

The family will receive visitors at Singleton Funeral Home on Tuesday (6/21) from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 PM. The funeral ceremony will be held on Wednesday (6/22) at 11 AM in the funeral home chapel. Interment Loudon Park Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hospice of the Chesapeake, 445 Defense Hwy., Annapolis, MD 21401. Thank you.

Earl, Sr., George Frank

George Frank Earl, Sr. departed this life on Saturday, December 15, 2001at the Harford Memorial Hospital, Havre de Grace, MD after a brief illness. He was born on October 25, 1921. He was one of five children born to the late Frank and Lucinda Earl in Hartwell, Georgia. The family moved to Lexington, NC when he was a young boy, and he was educated in the public school system. He migrated to Baltimore and soon after entered military service. He was discharged at Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD and made Harford County his home.

George gave his life to Christ at an early age at the Chestnut Grove Methodist Church. After coming to Harford County, he united with the Mt. Zion Baptist Church under the pastorate of the late Rev. M. C Phillips. He was a faithful and active member until his health began to fail.

He retired from the Veterans Administration Hospital, Perry Point, MD in 1980 with thirty-five years of service. Concurrently, he drove a school bus for Harford County for twenty-two years, owned and operated a cab for the Victory Cab Company from 1956-1999 and was custodian at the Meadowvale Elementary School for twelve years. He was a member of Masonic Lodge #48, Royal Arch Chapter #27, VFW Post #6054, American Legion Post #55, and the National Association of retired Federal Employees.

He leaves to cherish his memory, a loving and devoted wife of 46 years, Dorothy, two daughters, Rachael Allison, Statesville, NC and Alice Booker (William), Aberdeen, MD; four sons, George Earl, Jr. (Evenly), Aberdeen, MD, George Kill (Barbara), Aberdeen, MD, Paul Jordan (Marguerite), Havre de Grace, MD and Melvin Earl, Havre de Grace, MD, three stepchildren, Shirley Giles, Aberdeen, MD, Jesse Williams, Havre de Grace, MD and Robert Ringgold (Constance), Aberdeen, MD; thirteen grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren; an adopted sister, Mary E. Smith, Baltimore, MD; mother-in-law, Dorothy Bailey, Havre de Grace, MD; a very close and dear friend, Carolyn Scott, who they "adopted" after the death of her parents, and a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Two brothers and two sisters predeceased him.

Service will be held at 12 p.m. on Wednesday December 19, 2001 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 520 Lewis Street, Havre de Grace, MD where friends may call an hour and a half prior. Friends may also call Tuesday December 18, 2001 at Lisa Scott Funeral Home 552 Lewis Street, Havre de Grace, MD from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Burial will be in Harford Memorial Gardens, Aberdeen, MD.

Eatmon, Lisa Massey

Lisa Massey Eatmon, 41, of Salisbury, died Saturday September 21, 2002 at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury. Born in Salisbury she was the daughter of P. Custis Massey and Jane R. Massey of Salisbury.

Lisa had taken the previous year to travel with her husband and two children on a full time odyssey to see the United States by motorhome. They had toured 42 states including Hawaii, when Lisa became ill with lymphoma on the way to Alaska. Prior to the start of this adventure Lisa had been a homemaker and homeschool teacher in the town of Emerald Isle, NC.

Lisa grew up in Salisbury graduating from Parkside High School in 1979. She received her bachelor of science degree from the University of Delaware and went to work at WL Gore where she met her future husband Ray on her first day at the job. Lisa and Ray moved to North Carolina in 1988 where she worked for Bosch Power Tools until the arrival of her first child. Since that time Lisa had devoted herself to her children with a flair and passion that made her an inspiration to mothers everywhere. Lisa was active in Community Theater and 4H Clubs of Carteret County, NC. She enjoyed the writing, art, and the music of others and even made some of her own. She also enjoyed reading, biking, hiking, and travel.

In addition to her parents, Lisa is survived by her husband, Ray; daugher, Margo; son, Rob; three brothers and their wives, Mark & Lonea Massey of Salisbury, Keith & Alma Massey of Ventura, CA and Brian & Ali Massey of Pacific Palisades, CA; and six nephews.

Lisa has left numerous friends, family and admirers and touched the lives of too many to count.

A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held Saturday, September 28, 2002 at 3 PM at St. Peters Episcopal Church in Salisbuyry. The Rev. Dr. David Tontonoz will officiate. Friends may call one hour prior to the service.

Since Lisa was a great friend of libraries and reading, in lieu of flowers donations may be made to Bogue Banks Public Library, 320 Salter Path Rd., Suite W., Pine Knoll Shores, NC 28512.

Domenica D'Aquila Age: 94

Domenica D'Aquila, 94, died Sunday, March 14, 2004, at Berlin Nursing Home in Berlin. Born December 20, 1909, in Alvito, Italy, she was a daughter of Ferdinando and Maria Catencci Brusco. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank D'Aquila.

She is survived by her son, Donald E. D'Aquila, and his wife, Jean, of Berlin; and her grandchildren, Donald G. D'Aquila, of Seaford, Ronald L. D'Aquila, and his wife, Dawn, of Baltimore, Daniel M. D'Aquila, and his wife Jenny, of Mt. Crested, Butte, Colorado, and Lisa Ann Jones, and her

A funeral service will be held Wednesday, March 17, 2004, at 7:30 PM at Holloway Funeral Home, with viewing from 6:00 to 7:30 PM. Entombment will follow at a later date, at Allegheny Cemetery, 4734 Butler Street, Pittsburgh, PA.

Abbott, Joseph Lester

JOSEPH LESTER "JOE" ABBOTT, 65, of Crisfield, died Thursday, December 10, 2009 in Crisfield.

Born in Crisfield on June 8, 1944, he was a son of Ellestine Nelson Abbott of Crisfield and the late Frankie W. Abbott.

Along with his mother, he is survived by a son, Joseph Lester Abbott, Jr; a daughter, Peggy Jo Abbott; a sister, Wenona "Weenie" Abbott; a brother, David Abbott; and many other relatives.

No services are planned at this time.

Arrangements are in the care of Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home in Crisfield.

Yandrofski, Mary

Mary Yandrofski, 91 of Cambridge, MD passed away at her home on Wednesday January 2, 2008. She was born in New York City on June 14, 1916 and was a daughter of the late Michael and Pauline Walko Shostak.

She attended school in Pennsylvania. On June 16, 1933 she was married to Joseph E. Yandrofski. Mr. Yandrofski passed away on October 13, 1982. Some years ago she had worked in the knitting mills in Hazleton, PA as a sewing machine operator. Mrs. Yandrofski had made her home in Cambridge for the past nine years. She had been in failing health for several years when she passed away at her home on Wednesday evening.

Survivors include a son Joseph M. Yandrofski of Littleton, CO, one brother Andrew Shostak of York, PA ten grandchildren, several great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son Larry Yandrofski, a daughter Evangeline Moore, one brother John Shostak and three sisters Ann Majhrovich, Rose Nevick and Eva Tomkievich.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday January 8, 2008 at the Transfiguration Church, 213 W. Green St., West Hazleton, PA 18202 with Fr. Mark Balczeniuk officiating. Interment will follow at the Transfiguration Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday afternoon from 2:00 to 4:00 PM at the Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, c/o Mrs. Doris Weber, 5163 Maple Dam Road, Cambridge, MD 21613.
