Dorothy G. Warner
Dorothy Grace Warner, 82, of 11 W. Baltimore St., Hagerstown, died Monday, March 23, 1998, at Reeder Memorial Home, Boonsboro.
Born Feb. 12, 1916, in Salisbury, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Charles William and Cora S. Bowman Grove.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edgar V. Warner.
She was a member of West End Baptist Chapel and was a deaconess.
She is survived by four daughters, Shirley J. Michael, Lois A. Lidie and Phyllis J. Martin, all of Hagerstown, and Jennie S. Clifford of Fairplay; three sons, Thomas Lynn of Martinsburg, W.Va., Edgar V. Warner Jr. of Hagerstown and Richard E. Warner of Waynesboro, Pa.; one sister, Freda Weber of Baltimore; one brother, Lynn Grove of Indiana; 10 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Services will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. James C. Brinkley will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hagerstown.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 7 to 9 p.m.
Fay L. Burkett
CLEAR SPRING - Fay Louise Clark Burkett, 65, of 14554 Mercersburg Road, died Sunday, March 22, 1998, at Washington County Hospital.
Born March 25, 1932, in Clear Spring, she was the daughter of Thelma Blanch Robinson Clark of Clear Spring and the late Lloyd Edward Clark.
She was a former timekeeper with Fairchild Industries, Hagerstown; and chief justice of Washington County Election Board District 11. She was a substitute mail carrier in the Clear Spring area; and a retired employee of Maryland Ribbon Co.
She was a founding member of Mountain View Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir and was a member of Jolly Sixties Club.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband, Clarence Victor Burkett Sr. of Clear Spring; two sons, Clarence Victor Burkett Jr. at home and James Edward Burkett of Hagerstown; two brothers, Ray Lloyd Clark and Pastor Bill Clark, both of Clear Spring; and three grandchildren.
Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Donald E. Thompson Funeral Home, 13607 National Pike, Clear Spring. The Rev. Bill Clark and Gardiner Gentry will officiate. Burial will be in St. Paul Cemetery, Clear Spring.
The family will receive friends today from 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Phyllis M. Rising
Phyllis M. Rising, 72, formerly of 1101 Virginia Ave., Hagerstown, died Monday, March 23, 1998, at Washington County Hospital.
Born in Johnstown, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Floyd and Melba M. Longstreth and the stepdaughter of the late Charles Renner.
She is survived by her husband, Ronald W. Rising.
Services will be Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at Gerald N. Minnich Funeral Home, 305 N. Potomac St., Hagerstown. The Rev. Robert Robinson will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery.
Visitation will be Thursday 30 minutes prior to the service.
Marvin A. Sykes
CLEAR SPRING - Marvin A. Sykes, 67, formerly of 12715 St. Paul Road, died Monday, March 23, 1998, at Colton Villa Nursing Center, Hagerstown.
He was born Dec. 14, 1930, in Carroll County, Md.
He is survived by his care giver, Pauline Ebaugh of Clear Spring.
Services will be Thursday at 10:15 a.m. at Gerald N. Minnich Funeral Home, 305 N. Potomac St., Hagerstown. The Rev. Robert Robinson will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.
Bernice E. Paulsgrove
Bernice Elizabeth "Bee" Paulsgrove, 64, of 12501 Stonebridge Drive, Hagerstown, died Tuesday, March 24, 1998, at Ravenwood Nursing Home, Hagerstown.
Born May 7, 1933, in Shepherdstown, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Willis Edward and Elizabeth Daley Gano.
She was employed by Leiter Brothers and WF Prior Publishing Co. She was an Avon representative.
She was a member of Williamsport United Methodist Church and attended Mount Carmel United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her husband, Carl D. Paulsgrove; one daughter, Lois Whitcher of Cary, N.C.; one son, David Paulsgrove of Inwood, W.Va.; one sister, Mary Catherine Sencindiver of Shepherdstown; and three grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Willis "Buddy" Gano Jr.
Services will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. Dennis Whitmore will officiate. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery, Shepherdstown.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mervin W. Myers
KEEDYSVILLE - Mervin Willis Myers, 79, of 3404 Chestnut Grove Road, died Monday, March 23, 1998, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Feb. 5, 1919, in Dargan, he was the son of the late Edward and Margaret Moore Myers.
He worked for Fairchild Aircraft; and retired in 1988 from Mack Trucks in Hagerstown. He also was owner and operator of K&M Grocery in Chestnut Grove.
A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific Theater.
He was of the Protestant faith.
He was a life member and past commander of AMVETS Post 10, Hagerstown; a life member of W.D. Byron VFW Post 1096, Hagerstown; a member of Dixon-Troxell Post 211 American Legion, Funkstown; BPO Elks Lodge 378, Hagerstown; Conococheague Tribe 84 Order of Redmen, Williamsport; UAW Retired Workers; and AARP.
He is survived by his wife, Alicia M. Nick Myers, whom he married Feb. 5, 1939; one daughter, Joan Myers Keller of Chestnut Grove; one sister, Evelyn Sagle of Knoxville; one granddaughter; one grandson; two great-grandchildren; and three stepgreat-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by four sisters, Lottie Knight, Lily McCoy, Grace Knight and Glendora Giffin Dusing.
Services will be Thursday at 10:30 a.m. in the chapel of Bast Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro. The Rev. R. Thomas Fralin Jr. will officiate. Burial will be in Samples Manor Cemetery, Sharpsburg.

Eva I. Shank
BOONSBORO - The family of Eva Irene Shank, 99, a resident of Fahrney-Keedy Home, and formerly of 504 N. Main St., who died Sunday, March 22, 1998, will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday one hour prior to the service.
Ulysses J. Everett
CLEAR SPRING - Ulysses John Everett, 59, of 11224 Ashton Road, died Monday, March 23, 1998, at Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Martinsburg, W.Va.
Born Feb. 8, 1939, in Great Cacapon, W.Va., he was the son of the late Willard Reed Everett and Lola May Smith Everett.
He was a retired driver for Turner Taxi Service in Hagerstown, and previously was employed by Ward Zeller Saw Mill, Brandt Cabinet Works, New York Iron Works Co., R.D. McKee Co., Grove Manufacturing Co., Nolands, Charlton Elevator Co., Krumpe Donuts, Jefferson Cheese Manufacturing, and Hahn's Construction Co.
A veteran of the Korean War, he served in the U.S. Army.
He attended St. John's United Church of Christ in Clear Spring.
He was a member of Clear Spring Historical Society.
He is survived by his wife, H. ZoeAnna Strite Everett; one daughter, Debbie Rickett of Hagerstown; two sons, Ulysses John Everett Jr. of Great Cacapon, W.Va., and Timothy Scott Everett of Greencastle, Pa.; one stepson, Wayne E. Strite of Clear Spring; four sisters, Vilma Mills of Hobe Sound, Fla., Julia Camery of Chattanooga, Tenn., Barbara Thompson of Williamsport, and Margaret Knight of Stuart, Va.; three brothers, Charles Everett of Hagerstown, Thomas Everett of Great Cacapon, and Donald Gene Everett of Maugansville; grandchildren; two great-granddaughters; and two stepgranddaughters.
He was preceded in death by one son, Brian Everett; and one brother, Ernest Everett.
A memorial service will be held Sunday at 1 p.m. at St. John's United Church of Christ, corner of U.S. 40 and Md. 68, Clear Spring. The Rev. Terry Foor will officiate. His remains were donated for anatomical research.
There will be no viewing; however the family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service on Sunday.
The family requests the omission of flowers.

Charles D. Lyon
HAGERSTOWN - Charles Durant Lyon, 93, of 941 Forest Drive, Hagerstown, died Wednesday, March 25, 1998, in Washington County Hospital.
Born Sept. 24, 1904, in Meriden, Conn., he was the son of the late Caro Allen Lyon and Charles Lincoln Lyon.
He attended Williston Academy and was a 1923 graduate of Andover Preparatory School. He graduated from Yale University in 1927.
Prior to retirement, he was employed by Potomac Edison Co. of Hagerstown and was president of the company from 1965 to 1969. After retirement, he was interim president of Hood College in Frederick, Md., and briefly was interim administrator of Brook Lane.
He was a past president of Washington County Free Library Board and a past president of Washington County Historical Society. He had been president of Washington County Hospital Board and was acting chairman of United Way Campaign. He was a member of the Richmond (Va.) Regional Federal Reserve Board. He was involved with the Potomac Playmakers where he produced, directed and acted in company plays for Potomac Edison Co.
He was a member of Fountainhead Country Club. He was a former governor of the Hagerstown Assembly Club.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Sarah Jane Cushwa Lyon; one daughter, Sarah Lyon Loughran of Greensburg, Pa.; one son, Peter Mansfield Lyon of Toledo, Ohio; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Services will be Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Gerald N. Minnich Funeral Home, 305 N. Potomac St., Hagerstown. The Rev. John E. Owens will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Hagerstown.
Friends may call at the funeral home Friday from 4 to 6 p.m. and 30 minutes prior to the service Saturday.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the charity of one's choice.
Lester F. Kennedy
Lester F. Kennedy, 86, a resident of the Alexander House, 7 E. Washington St., Hagerstown, died Tuesday, March 24, 1998, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Jan. 2, 1912, in Shady Grove, Pa., he was the son of the late Warren S. and Catherine Maun Kennedy.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Harriet T. Nisewonder Kennedy, in 1997. They were married Sept. 14, 1932.
He was a farmer; worked at the former Victor Hosiery Mill of Greencastle, Pa.; and as a night watchman at Landis Tool of Waynesboro, Pa. He was founder of Hagerstown Floors.
He was a member of St. James Brethren Church, St. James.
He is survived by his daughter, Lois R. Kayhoe of Waynesboro; five sons, Richard E. Kennedy of Waynesboro, Ronald L. Kennedy of Conshohocken, Pa., Allen G. Kennedy and Thurman F. Kennedy, both of Hagerstown, and Bradford W. Kennedy of Modesto, Calif.; three sisters, Alice Hykes of Greencastle, Pa., Elva June Cool of State Line, Pa., and Edna P. Henicle of Waynesboro; one brother, Jacob E. Kennedy of Waynesboro; 29 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sisters and seven brothers.
Services will be Sunday at 3 p.m. at Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home, 45 S. Carlisle St., Greencastle. The Rev. Brian Moore will officiate. Burial will be in Browns Mill Cemetery, Kauffman, Pa.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
