Mrs. Fern Ward
Dated: Monday, April 1, 2002.
Mrs. Fern D. Ward, 87, of Derwood, formerly of the Gaithersburg-Rockville area, died Friday, March 29, at Montgomery General Hospital, Olney.

She was the wife of Ira C. Ward.

Born June 29, 1914, in Pennsylvania, she was a daughter of the late Herman C. and Mary Candace Koon Duffy.

Mrs. Ward was a homemaker. She attended Shady Grove Presbyterian Church in Derwood.

Surviving in addition to her husband are one daughter, Gail Marie Rice of Texas; two grandchildren, Kenny and Randy Rice, both of Texas; two sisters, Hester Ford of College Park, and Helen Ward of Centreville; and one brother, Roy Duffy of North Carolina.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 2, at Shady Grove Presbyterian Church, 16911 Redland Road, Derwood. Friends may call one hour prior to the services.

Interment will be in Parklawn cemetery, Rockville.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Good News Jail Ministry, 2230 E. Parham Road, Richmond, Va. 23200, or Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, P.O. Box 779, Minneapolis, Minn. 55440-0779.

Arrangements are being handled by Muriel H. Barber Funeral Home, Laytonsville.

Mr. Brian Taber
Dated: Monday, April 1, 2002.
Mr. Brian Harold Taber, 43, of 221 E. Third St., Waynesboro, Pa., since 1976, died Friday, March 29, as a result of injuries received in an accident in Woodward, Pa.

He was the husband of E. Marie Farrell Taber. They were married May 31, 1986, in Annapolis.

Born May 19, 1958, in Waynesboro, he was a son of Harold W. Jr. and Lucile Henry Taber of Smithsburg.

Mr. Taber lived his early life in Smithsburg and was a 1976 graduate of Smithsburg High School. He attended James Madison University.

He was employed as a project manager for the past three years by Nardi Construction Inc. of Beltsville.

Mr. Taber enjoyed coaching his children's soccer teams, playing golf and volleyball and skiing.

He was a member of St. Andrew Roman Catholic Church, Waynesboro.

Mr. Taber served on the Park Commission of the Borough of Waynesboro.

Surviving in addition to his wife and parents are two daughters, Alexandra Mary Taber and Emily Sara Taber, both at home; two sons, Christopher Brian Taber and Brendan Thomas Robert Taber, both at home; two sisters, Carol Tesla of Hagerstown, and Karen Crawford of Harrisburg, Pa.; one brother, Michael Taber of Myersville; and a number of nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, April 2, at Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 3, at St. Andrew Catholic Church, 112 N. Broad St., Waynesboro, with the Rev. Thomas J. Hemler as the celebrant.

Interment will be in Green Hill cemetery, Waynesboro.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Brian Taber Children's Fund, Center Square, Waynesboro, Pa. 17268.

Mr. F. James Evans
Dated: Monday, April 1, 2002.
Mr. F. James Evans, 80, of Lancaster, Pa., formerly of Wilmington, Del., died of cancer Wednesday, March 27, at The Glen at Willow Valley in Lancaster.

He was the husband of Marian Williams Evans, his wife of 55 years.

Born June 1, 1921, in Hazleton, Pa., he was a son of the late Franklin J. and Gertrude T. Evans.

Mr. Evans was a 1938 graduate of Hazleton High School. He was a 1942 graduate of Lafayette College. He was a member of Tau Beta Pi, Knights of the Round Table, and the American Institute of Chemical Engineers and the American Chemical Society, of which he was president in senior year. He participated in the choir, brass quartet, symphony orchestra and marching band.

He worked for The E.I. DuPont Co. for five years in the explosives and rayon departments. He received a master's degree from Penn State in 1949 and a Ph.D. in chemistry from Ohio State in 1952. He returned to DuPont and worked in the Pioneering Research Division of the Textile Fibers Department until he retired in 1977.

Mr. Evans was granted more than 20 U.S. patents, mostly dealing with"Sontara" spun-lace, non-woven fabrics.

He was a 50-year member the American Chemical Society and the American Institute of Chemical Engineers. He was a member of Sigma Xi National Research Fraternity and was listed in "Who's Who in American Science."

Mr. Evans and his wife lived in Wilmington for 47 years, until they moved to Willow Valley North Retirement Community in Lancaster, Pa. in June 2000.

He was a member of Hanover Presbyterian Church in Wilmington for 48 years. He was a member of the DuPont Country Club.

Surviving in addition to his wife are his son, Frank, and daughter-in-law, Patti, and their children, Christine and Sean of Landenberg, Pa.; and his daughter, Joan, and son-in-law Jeffrey Thielker and their three sons, Jaefen, Joshua and Jordan of Frederick.

Memorial services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, April 5, in the auditorium at Willow Valley Manor North, 600 Willow Valley Square, Lancaster.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society Memorials, 314 Good Drive, Lancaster, Pa. 17603.

Mr. Jerry Richmond
Dated: Thursday, February 7, 2002.
Mr. Jerry Lee Richmond, 47, of Mount Airy, died Monday, Feb. 4.

He was the husband of Linda Sue Franks Richmond.

Born March 2, 1954, in Baltimore, he was a son of Dora Louise Jenkins of Baltimore, and the late Walter N. Richmond.

Mr. Richmond was a truck driver for JANCO, Westminster, and had previously worked many years for William N. Mason Trucking of Baltimore.

He enjoyed riding his motorcycle.

Surviving in addition to his wife and mother are two sons, Gerald L. Richmond Jr. of Baltimore, and Owen K. Richmond of Mount Airy; one daughter, Nicole Eyler of Woodbine; one stepson, Michael L. Porter of Silver Spring; one brother, Richard Richmond of Baltimore; two sisters, Connie Purcell and Dottie Richmond, both of Baltimore; and one granddaughter, Zoe Nicole Richmond.

Mr. Richmond was preceded in death by one sister, Kathy Richmond.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 7, at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home, 1212 W. Old Liberty Road, Winfield. Funeral services will be held there at noon Friday, Feb. 8, with the Rev. Wallace Lusk officiating.

Burial will be in Pine Grove cemetery, Mount Airy.

Mr. Fred Snedegar Sr.
Dated: Thursday, January 31, 2002.
Mr. Fred Allen Snedegar Sr., 50, of 9802 Steiner Road, Woodsboro, died Tuesday, Jan. 29, at Washington Hospital Center.

He was the husband of Linda Ann Snedegar, his wife of 33 years.

Born Oct. 9, 1951, in Baltimore, he was a son of Ruby Rush Hawkins of New Midway.

Mr. Snedegar was employed as a heavy equipment operator with Haverhill Contractors, Baltimore, for 22 years.

He enjoyed fishing and boating.

Surviving in addition to his wife and mother are one daughter, Brenda Lee Hunt and husband Stephen of Frederick; one son, Fred Allan Snedegar Jr. and wife Shelby Lynn of Rocky Ridge; two brothers, Kenneth Snedegar of Emmitsburg, and Sheldon Hawkins of New Midway; two sisters, Marilyn Nail of Mineral, Va., and Shirley Frazier of Hagerstown; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Mr. Snedegar was preceded in death by his stepfather, Sheldon Knox.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Feb. 1, at Hartzler Funeral Home, 404 S. Main St., Woodsboro.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 2, at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the time of services Saturday.

Mrs. Mary Palmer
Dated: Thursday, January 31, 2002.
Mrs. Mary Blanche Palmer, 100, of Grindstone Road, Myersville, died Tuesday, Jan. 29, at her home.

She was the wife of Clarence Elmer Palmer, who died April 13, 1975.

Born Feb. 10, 1901, in Frostown, she was a daughter of the late Elmer Joseph and Laura Viola O'Neal Moss.

Mrs. Palmer was a homemaker.

Surviving are five grandsons, Gerald Palmer and wife Shirley of Clearspring, Woodrow Palmer and wife Andrea, Robert Wise and wife Faye, and David Palmer and wife Wanda, all of Myersville, and Raymond Palmer and wife Betty of Boonsboro; four granddaughters, Nancy Witmer of Frederick, Judy Subetto and Linda Easterday, both of Hagerstown, and Mary Flook and husband Robert of Williamsport; 22 great-grandchildren: 23 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Palmer was preceded in death by two sons, Glen William Palmer and Donald Palmer; two brothers, Elmer Moss and Donald Moss; one sister, Ethel Hutzell; one granddaughter, Sarrah Jane Palmer; one great-grandson, Robert Wise III; a grandson-in-law, Charles Subetto; and sister-in-law, Clara Brown Moss.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 31, at Ricketts Funeral Home, 504 Main St., Myersville, where funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 1. The Rev. Randall Reid will officiate.

Interment will be in Mount Zion United Methodist cemetery, Myersville.

Mrs. Gernie Paden
Dated: Thursday, January 31, 2002.
Mrs. Gernie Evelyn Summers Paden, 89, of Boonsboro, died Tuesday, Jan. 29, at Reeder's Memorial Home, Boonsboro.

Born March 12, 1912, in Middletown, she was a daughter of the late Seymour and Annie Florence Johnson Summers.

Mrs. Paden was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Hagerstown.

She was a member of Haven Lutheran Church Senior Citizens Group, and Senior Citizens Group Ñ Alexander House.

Surviving are three brothers, Francis W. Summers and John David Summers, both of Middletown, and Edward Seymour Summers of Frederick; and four sisters, Caroline Barkley of Englewood, Fla., Isabell Dorothy McGee of Venice, Fla., Edna Louise Easton of Piqua, Ohio, and Virginia Rebecca May of Wheeling, W.Va.

Mrs. Paden was preceded in death by one brother, Paul Eugene Summers; and one sister, Anna May Summers.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Feb. 1, Rest Haven Funeral Home, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown, where funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 2. Pastor David B. Kaplan will officiate.

Interment will be in Rest Haven cemetery, Hagerstown.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Mark's Lutheran Church, 601 Washington Ave., Hagerstown, Md. 21740.

Mrs. Mary LeGore
Dated: Thursday, January 31, 2002.
Mrs. Mary Young LeGore, 88, of Carroll Lutheran Village, Westminster, formerly of Annapolis and Bel Air, died Tuesday, Jan. 29, at the Health Care Center of Carroll Lutheran Village.

She was the wife of John W. LeGore, who died in 1981.

Born July 21, 1913, near Taneytown, she was a daughter of the late Charles Wilmer and Sarah Fringer Young.

Mrs. LeGore grew up in the Taneytown area.

She had worked as an administrator for the State of Maryland Gasoline Tax Division.

Mrs. LeGore was a member of St. Martin's Lutheran Church, Annapolis.

Surviving are two nephews, Robert Cirincione Sr. of Fallston, and Paul Cirincione of Baltimore; four great-nieces; and three great-nephews.

Mrs. LeGore was preceded in death by her daughter, Mary Jane LeGore.

Friends may call from noon Saturday, Feb. 2, until time of funeral services at 2 p.m. Saturday at Skiles Funeral Home, 136 E. Baltimore St., Taneytown. Deacon Charles E. Barnhart Jr. will officiate.

Interment will be in Trinity Lutheran cemetery, Taneytown.

Mrs. Charlotte Dabbs
Dated: Thursday, January 31, 2002.
Mrs. Charlotte Ann Dorm Dabbs, 81, of Westminster, died Tuesday, Jan. 29, at Harborside Nursing Center, Baltimore, after a long illness.

She was the wife of Eugene Dabbs.

Born Nov. 3, 1920, in Westminster, she was a daughter of the late Earl Singleton and Catherine Dorsey Dorm.

Mrs. Dabbs was a member of Gospel Spreading Church of God, Union Bridge, and Loyal Social Club, Westminster.

She was the founder of Charlettes Marching Group. She was a 1936 graduate of Robert Moten School.

Surviving in addition to her husband are four daughters, Ann Battle and husband Isaac, and Joan Black and husband Glenard, all of Baltimore, Cathy Smith Dawan of Eldersburg, and Carolynne Millberry of Hagerstown; one son, David E. Smith and wife Ella York, Pa.; four sisters, Jessie Patterson, Joan Willis, Mary Briscoe and Sharon Cornish, all of Westminster; four brothers, Clarence, Kenneth and Francis Dorm, all of Westminster, and Russell Dorm of Baltimore; 16 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins.

Mrs. Dabbs was preceded in death by one grandson, Thomas Rheubottom; three brothers, Gordon, Charles and Howell Dorm; and son-in-law, Melvin Dawan Sr.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 1, at Fletcher Funeral Home, 254 E. Main St., Westminster.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 2, at First United Presbyterian Church, 65 Washington Road, Westminster, with Elder Marshall J. Green Jr. officiating.

Interment will be in Westminster cemetery.
