HIBMA -- Katie Ann Hibma, aged 19 months, went to be with her Lord and Savior on October 20, 2002. She was a wonderful daughter, full of life and light, and will be sadly missed, here on earth by her parents; Brian and Joan Hibma; her brother, Jeremy; her sister, Angela; her grandparents, Marv and June Hibma and Wayne and Sharon Helmholdt; and aunts, uncles, and many cousins. Funeral Services were held Wednesday at the Dorr Christian Reformed Church, with Pastor Duane Nieuwsma of Dorr CRC and Rev. Thomas Groelsma of First CRC of Byron Center officiating. Interment at Dorr cemetery. memorial contributions may be made to DeVos Children's Hospital - Child Life Program.

JAGER -- LEONARD P. (Bud) JAGER, aged 70 of Hopkins Twp., passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, October 13, 2002. He will be sadly missed by his devoted wife of 51 years, Lillian. He is survived by his children, Clyde L. Jager & Cathy Hubbard, Terry L. Jager & Brenda Kirkpatrick, Dana (Jager) & Tom Varano, Sarah L. (Jager) & Gary Parsons, Bonnie E. (Jager), Drury & Hans Vanvezer, Beverly M. (Jager) Walters; several grandchildren, sisters & friends. Leonard was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who always put his family first. He was a strong & courageous man who had grace, strength & character. Following his retirement, Leonard enjoyed "tinkering" around the farm, his grandchildren, time in his flower garden an feeding the birds. He was preceded in death by his parents and son Mark Alan Jager also son-in-law, Timothy O. Walters. He was a Korean War Veteran. Funeral services were held on Wednesday at the Wayland Christian Reformed Church with Pastor Ron Bouwkamp officiating. Interment at Maplewood cemetery. Memorials to Bethany Christian Home, American Heart Association or to Wayland Christian Reformed Church. Arrangements by Archer, Hampel & Kubiak- Wayland Chapel

JONES -- CHARLES B. (CHUCK) JONES, aged 69, of Gun Lake, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, October 18, 2002. Born November 19, 1932 in Kentucky and grew up in Lansing, Michigan. He graduated from Sexton High School in 1950. He enlisted in the US Air Force and was discharged from the Reserves in 1958. He was preceded in death by his daughter Cynthia Ann in 1960. Surviving are his loving wife of 50 years, Dorothy, three sons: Rick (Tracy) of Grand Rapids, Scott (Jeannie) of Marathon, Florida and Craig (Cindy) of Byron Center, grandchildren, Paul, Joel, Lindsay, Matthew, Coty, Erin and Brandy. One sister, Juanita Sue (Paul) Spears of Arkansas, mother-in-law Julia Fell of Middleville, sister-in-law, Shirley Howard of Gun Lake, former daughter-in-law Paula Jones, nephews, niece and many friends. He was employed at Hager-Fox for many years prior to moving to the Gun Lake area where he owned and operated the Yankee Springs Hardware for many years. He was also in sales for 29 years and the last 17 years was with Stihl Distributors. Chuck enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, his grandchildren, golf, snowmobiling, winters in Florida and helping whoever needed him. Funeral services were held at the Beeler Funeral Home in Middleville with Pastor Ray Townsend officiating. Interment was at Yankee Springs cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Leighton United Methodist Church Building Fund or Pennock Hospital Foundation in memory of Charles B. Jones.

LODENSTEIN -- ESTHER L. LODENSTEIN, 83, of Shelbyville, formerly of Hopkins, died Tuesday, October 1 at Hospice of Holland Home, Grand Rapids. Mrs. Lodenstein was born May 11, 1919 in Hopkins Township the daughter of Alfred and Ethel (Dobson) Shuman. She was a teacher at Hopkins Public Schools for 33 years retiring in 1981. Surviving are 3 sons, Larry (Frances) of Kentwood, Robert of Hopkins and Perry of Wayland; 4 granddaughters, Lisa, Tina, Katie and Pamela; 3 sisters, Doris Lee of Bangor, Virginia VanderKolk of Hopkins, Verla Frey of Elkhart, IN. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter. The family received friends and family Thursday at the Gorden Funeral Residence, Hopkins Chapel, where services were held Friday. Pastor Michael Hasper officiating. Interment Maplewood cemetery, Hopkins. Memorial contributions may be made to the Wayland Ambulance.

THOMPSON -- RICHARD P. THOMPSON, 88 of Hopkins, died Wednesday, October 2, 2002 at his home. Mr. Thompson was born October 29, 1913 in Potterville, MI the son of Jerry and Ruth (Alwood) Thompson. He was a member of the Teamsters Union and was a truck driver for MacSimBar Paper Co. retiring in 1973. He then owned and operated Thompson Well Drilling Company. Dick was a member of the Hopkins Community Reformed Church, Hopkins Athletic Boosters Club, Lions Club, and active in many charities. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and had enjoyed traveling with his wife, Alice who preceded him in death in 1999. Surviving are his family whom he loved very much and were very important to him, 7 children and their spouses, Peggy & Lee Arnsman of Hopkins, Joan & Bill Riksen of Hopkins, Marjory & Richard Smith of Hastings, Hannah & Russell Pogodzinski of Hilliards, Richard Thompson, Jr. of Arizona, Kay & Richard Peterson of Lapeer, Denise Thompson of Arizona. Dick was preceded in death by his son Jerry and his wife Judy, so he and Alice added four more children to the house to raise, John & Lori Thompson of Allegan, Richard & Lynette Thompson of Sturgis, Lynne & Michael Morrison of Kalamazoo, and Sheri & Jeff Ward of Clinton Twp. Also surviving are over 50 grandchildren and great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild, 1 brother and 3 sisters, Robert McEwen of Hopkins, Bertha Peck of Ohio, Coral Long of Florida, and Nellie Heberle of Lowell. Also preceding in death were 3 brothers, Floyd McEwen, Howard McEwen, and Jim McEwen, and 2 grandsons, Mark Arnsman and Richard Thompson II. The family received friends Friday at the Gorden Funeral Residence, Hopkins Chapel, where services were held Saturday. Pastor Jack Klunder officiating. Interment Maplewood cemetery, Hopkins Township. Memorial contributions may be made to the HopkinsCommunity Reformed Church or the Hopkins Athletic Boosters Club.

VILLEROT: Mrs. Eleanor (Ellie) Villerot (Gulch) aged 71 of South Lyons (summer residence-Sandy Pines) went to be with her Lord Sunday, September 22, 2002. She was preceded in death by her parents Delia and Ernest Friend and one sister Thela Slater. She is survived by her husband Russell Villerot; her children Mark (Jeanie) Gulch of Baldwin, Walter (Beth) Gulch of Middleville, Sue (Terry) Shaffer of Wyoming: her stepchildren Russell (Phyllis) Villerot of Fowlerville, Richard (Sandy) Villerot of South Lyons, Roger (Annette) Villerot of Brighton and David Villerot of Howell; 11 grandchildren;2 great-grandchildren;two sisters Doris (Russell) Haase, Betty (Jake) VanDyke; one brother William (Marian) Friend; a brother-in-law and two sister-in-law; nieces and nephews. The family meet friends and relatives at the Matthysse-Kuiper-DeGraaf Funeral Home in Wyoming Funeral services were held on Wednesday with the Pastor Kyle DeYoung officiating. Interment was at Oak Grove cemetery. The family suggests donations to Hospice of Michigan.

WYKOSKI -- MARLENE M. WYKOSKI, aged 78, of Hilliards passed away peacefully at home with her family present on Tuesday, October 1, 2002. She is survived by her sons and their families, Jim & Tess Wykoski, Ed, Annie & John; Larry & Sue Wykoski, Curt & Tim; other grandchildren, Kim & Brian Decker; sister, JoAnn (Carl) Zomerlei; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Wykoski, Geneva Wykoski, Betty Homrich. Marlene was preceded in death by her husband, Edward "Speed" Wykoski, her daughter and son-in-law, Sandy & Jim Decker; brother, Vernon Homrich. Marlene was a member of St. Stanislaus Church, Altar Rosary Society, Ladies VFW Auxiliary Wayland Post, Our Lady of Lourdes Circle. Parish Rosary was held on Thursday at the funeral home. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Friday at St. Stanislaus Church with Fr. James Vinh Le as celebrant. Internment at the church cemetery. Memorials may be made to Wings of Hope Hospice of Allegan County. Arrangements were made by Archer, Hampel & Kubiak, Wayland Chapel.

FINKBEINER -- RUTH FINKBEINER, 79 of Englewood, Florida formally of Wayland died September 15, 2002 at Sterling House Assisted Living, Rotonda West. She was born December 14, 1922 in Wayland, Survivors include her husband of 59 years, Richard L.; sons Richard M. of Wisconsin and Gary L. of Missouri; four grandchildren and a great granddaughter. She was the assistant manager at Hardings Supermarket and a postal clerk. She was active in the Audubon Society and was a member of the United Church of Christ in Wayland. Arrangements by Lemon Bay Funeral Home in Florida and burial in Wayland. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association of Southwest Florida, P.O. Box 49408, Port Charlotte, Fl 33949

GRUSCINSKI -- ALFRED S. GRUSCINSKI , Aged 79, of Hilliards, passed away Monday, September 23, 2002. He is survived by his brothers, Raymond Gruscinski, Sr., Donald Harold (Barb) Gruscinski, John (Leona) Gruscinski, Bob Grusinski; one niece, three nephews; also great nieces & nephews. Alfred worked many years at the Wayland Livestock and was a lifetime member of St. Stanislaus Church. Parish Rosary was held Thursday at the Dorr Funeral home. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Friday at St. Stanislaus Church with Fr. James Vinh Le as celebrant. Interment was held at the church cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Stanislaus Church. Arrangements were by Archer, Hampel & Kubiak Funeral Home.

MORRIS, CLYDE O. Age 86, of Allegan Twp., died Friday, September 13, 2002 at his home. Mr. Morris was born September 6, 1916 in Valley Twp., the son of John E. & Minnie (Platt) Morris. Clyde loved nature. He farmed in the Allegan area most of his life, he enjoyed building things out of wood and just being in the woods. He attended Monterey Center United Methodist Church. He worked as a manager for many years with Otsego Sanitary Milk Products. Clyde also worked with Wedge Oil and Milbocker Construction. Surviving are his wife, Lucille Coon, whom he married June 1, 2002; 1 daughter & her husband, Patricia & Robert Grinnell of Kalamazoo; 5 step children, Vivian Nowakowski of Parchment, Maxine & Robert Cook of Wayland, Wanda & Ken Tiggleman of Florida, Sharon & Lawrence Kamyszek of Wayland and Don & Charlene Coon of Hopkins; 1 grandson, Kevin & Rhonda Grinnell of Comstock; several step grandchildren and step great grandchildren; 1 brother, Basil & Jean Morris of Florida; 3 sisters, Ellen Bell of Benton Harbor, Esther Gates of South Haven, Reva Tuhacek of Grandville; 1-sister-in-law, Sally Morris, of Allegan; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Clyde was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth, and 6 brothers, Ray, Allan, Don, John, Walter, and Maynard, 2 sisters, Rena & Elsie. KATHRYN WARNER, Warner's Landing, Shelbyville, Michigan. Much of Kathryn Warner's life revolved around Warner's Landing, a campground that she operated for over 50 years on Selkirk Lake; most of those years with her husband Bus Warner. Kathryn died Thursday August 29, 2002 in Plainwell, nine days following a stroke. Kathryn ran a tight ship at the campground, a trait that was appreciated by her camping patrons. Her attention to the rules and detail made for a pleasant camping experience for her customers, but the campers weren't just customers they were her friends for the past three years even though her health failed she continued to run the campground with the help of her son Jack, for the business was her social life and gave her a purpose to carry on. Kathryn's life began January 8, 1911 in Hooper, Michigan, born at home, the daughter of the late James and Cora Williams. Kathryn had retired from Western Michigan University from the food service department. She lived in this area all her life and was a member of the Shelbyville United Methodist Church. Much of her life had revolved around her life with her husband Hubert "Bus" Warner. They would run the campground for over 40 years together, operate the family Centennial farm and would spend time together at their cabin in the Kalkaska area, until his death in 1992. She was also preceded in death by her daughter Joan in 1988. In recent years she had traveled extensively with her friends. Her family includes her son and daughter-in-law, Jack and Ea Warner of Otsego, a brother Alfred and Eunice Williams of Martin, 4 grandchildren and their spouses, Lisa and Gary Falkenberg, Susan Warner and David Griffin, David and Stephanie Stroup and Carey Stroup; 3 great grandchildren, Henry Warner Griffin, Melanie and Wyatt Stroup. She is also survived by her dear friends from the campground. A Celebration of Life Service was held on Sunday with Pastor William Bills speaking. Burial followed in the family plot IN Wayland at Elmwood cemetery. Friends may share a memory with the family on her personal web page at www.rdmg.com you can also send a memorial gift to the Shelbyville Methodist Church.
