IRENE M. AVERS, Age 93, of Algonac died March 6, 2000. Mrs. Avers was a homemaker and raised dogs. She is survived by sons, David Forton of Fair Haven and Paul Avers of Marysville; daughters, Elizabeth Avers of China Township, Gail Morrison of Arizona and Linda Miller of East China; ten grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. Mrs. Avers was predeceased by her husband, Raymond, a daughter, Virginia Sinon, and two grandsons. Services were held in Gilbert Funeral Home, Algonac, the Rev. Gary Aupperle of Colonial Woods Missionary Church, officiating. Burial was in Oaklawn cemetery. Memorials can be made to Blue Water Hospice or Cherry Beach Council on Aging.

EVELYN PAULINE VAN PAEMEL, Age 75, of Armada died March 8, 2000. Evelyn was a member of St. Mary Mystical Rose Catholic Church and was a volunteer at Mount Clemens General Hospital. She is survived by her sons, Charles of California, James and Jerome of Harrison Township, and Robert of Armada; daughter, Frances of California; eight grandchildren; brother, Joseph Malburg of Ray; sisters, Grace DeBruyn of Armada, Alice Sabbe and Eileen D'Hondt, both of Washington, Georgina Campbell of Armada and Frances Pewinski of Almont. Services were held in St. Mary Mystical Rose Catholic Church, Armada, the Rev. Bradley Forintos, officiating. Arrangements were made by Tiffany-Young and Hauss Funeral Home, Armada. Burial was in West Berlin cemetery, Berlin Township. Memorials can be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

JODIE LYNN WHISNANT, Age 27, of Texas, formerly of Armada, died Feb. 22, 2000. Ms. Whisnant was a co-founder of Total Roll-Offs L.L.C., and a member of the Washington County Chamber of Commerce, the National Waste Management Association and the National Cutting Horse Association. She is survived by parents, John and Betty Whisnant; daughter, Alexandria Whisnant; fiance, Ray Lauter; sister, Loree Whisnant, all of Texas. Services were held in St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Texas, the Rev. Virgil Pecht, officiating. Arrangements were made by Memorial Oaks Chapel, Texas. Burial was in St. Peter's Lutheran Church cemetery. Memorials can be made to the Alexandria Education Fund.

AGNES CURZYDLO, Age 94, of Goodells died March 4, 2000. Mrs. Curzydlo is survived by her daughters, Elgia Wessel and Grace Sulkowski, both of Goodells and Dolores Slaski of Warren; 15 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Walter. Services were held in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, Emmett, with the Rev. Jasper Sirianni and the Rev. Anthony Sulkowski co-officiating. Arrangements were made by Rewalt Funeral Home, Richmond. Burial was in St. Philip Neri cemetery, Columbus.

DAISY G. LYNCH, Age 82, of Florida, formerly of Richmond, died Feb. 24, 2000. Mrs. Lynch is survived by her daughters, Ruby Austin of Richmond, Wanetta Lamoureux, Alberta Norton, and Roberta Cook, all of Florida; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Vada Wansedel of Kimball. She is predeceased by her husband, Marvin; parents, Geraldine and Emil Verbeke; twin grandsons, Edward and James Cook; brothers, Charles, Albert, and George; sisters, Amy, Donna, Mae, Sylvia, Lorenia, Helen, Dorothy and Irene. Services were held in Baldwin-Fairchild Funeral Home, Florida, the Rev. W.M. Arp, officiating. Buriel was in St. Luke's cemetery in Florida.

DUANE JOHNSON, Age 65, of St. Clair died March 7, 2000. Mr. Johnson raised many animals. He is survived by his wife, Constance; sons, Michael, Martin and Duane; daughters, Susan Garity and Patricia Johnson; ten grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and sisters, Carol Garcia, Patricia Damman and Sandy Bockenstette. Services were held in St. Mary's Catholic Church, St. Clair, the Rev. Edward Ritter, officiating. Arrangements were made by Young Colonial Chapel Funeral Home, St. Clair. Buriel was in Hillside cemetery, St. Clair. Memorials can be made to the Arthritis Foundation.

CATHERINE C. SCHNEIDER, Age 61, of Algonac died March 8, 2000. Mrs. Schneider is survived by her husband, Joseph; daughters, Suzanne of Farmington Hills and Julie McLachlan, both of Farmington Hills; son, Donald of California; one grandchild; brothers, Richard Johnson of North Carolina and Francis Johnson of Avoca. She was predeceased by her brother, Joseph Johnson. Services were held in St. Catherine Church, Algonac, the Rev. Douglas Bignall, officiating. Arrangements were made by Bower-Rose Funeral Home, Marine City. Burial was in the church cemetery. Memorials can be made to the American Diabetes Association.

JOEL W. EDIE, Age 70, of Algonac died March 9, 2000. Mr. Edie was a member of the Algonac-Clay Township Historical Society. He is survived by his wife, Wanda; daughter, Debby Young, son, Frank Cona; five grandchildren, brother, Thomas; and sister, Elizabeth Gamble. Services were held in St. Catherines Catholic Church, Algonac, the Rev. Douglas Bignall, officiating. Arrangements were made by Gilbert Funeral Home, Algonac. Memorials can be made to St. Catherines Church or the Algonac-Clay Township Historical Society.

MADELINE MARY THEUT, Age 83, of Applegate died April 22, 2000. Mrs. Theut was a founding member of St. Matthias Catholic Church, Sterling Heights, where she promoted the enthronement of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in many homes. She was the past co-owner of North Center Farm Supply Sales and Service of Armada and a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Croswell where she served on the altar society. Mrs. Theut is survived by daughters, Mary Lang of Sterling Heights, Jeanne Curtis of Utica, Kathleen Pipe of Macomb, Helen Frazier and Marcia Atkinson, both of Sterling Heights, Agnes Flynn of Applegate, and Eileen of Armada; sons, Charles of Richmond, James and William, both of Macomb, Leo of Armada, Francis of Casco and Paul of Ray; brother, Donald Campbell of Romeo; sisters, Bernardine Monnig of Chesterfield, Geralda Kaltz and Clara Malburg, both of New Haven, Cecilia Kaltz of Almont, Lorraine Trombley of Florida and Rosalie Debeaussaert of Ray; 43 grandchildren; and 32 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Leo. Services were held in St. Matthias Catholic Church, Sterling Heights, with the Rev. Leonard Partensky officiating. Arrangements were made by Tiffany-Young and Hauss Funeral Home, Armada. Burial was in Resurrection cemetery, Clinton. Memorials can be made to the family wishes or a charity of the donor's choice.

PHYLLIS A. NICKEL, Age 86, of St. Clair died April 21, 2000. Mrs. Nickel was a self employed antique dealer. She is survived by daughters, Sherriel Reid of Casco and Carol Bryson of Florida. Services were held in Romeo cemetery, with the Rev. Reed Swanson, pastor of First United Methodist, Richmond, officiating. Arrangements were made by Rewalt Funeral Home, Richmond.

ERIKA M. KOCH, Age 76, of Lenox died April 27, 2000. Mrs. Koch was a homemaker; a member of the German American Club and St. Mary Queen of Creation Church, New Baltimore. She is survived by her daughter, Lisa Zakosky of Chesterfield; sons, Kurt and Kent, both of New Haven; five grandchildren; and sisters, Marianne Arnold of Richmond and Anna Strange of Eastpointe. Mrs. Koch was predeceased by her husband, Karl; and a son, Karl. Services were held in Gendernalik Funeral Home, New Baltimore, with the Rev. Patrick Casey officiating. Burial was in Cadillac Memorial Gardens East, Clinton. Memorials can be made to the Salvation Army or hospice.

VICTORIA LIN ELDRIDGE Infant, died April 18, 2000. She is survived by her parents, Linda and Mark Eldridge of Algonac; a brother, Michael; and her grandparents. Services will be held at a later date in St. Martin's Lutheran Church, Marine City, with the Rev. Troy G. Waite officiating. Arrangements were made by Bower-Rose Funeral Home, Marine City. Burial was in Woodlawn cemetery.

ETHEL G. HOPP, Age 78, of Richmond died April 21, 2000. Mrs. Hopp and her husband had owned and operated the Richmond Hotel and the Yale Hotel. She was a member of the First United Church of Christ in Richmond and the former ladies auxiliary sewing group. Mrs. Hopp is survived by her husband, Norman; sons, Alan of Texas and James of Mio; sister, Elizabeth Behnke of Lewiston; and three grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son Richard. Services were held in First United Church of Christ, Richmond, with the Rev. Steven Fisher officiating. Arrangements were made by Rewalt Funeral Home, Richmond. Burial was in Cadillac Memorial cemetery. Memorials can be directed to the church.

ELIZABETH ANN DeVRIES, Age 73, of Memphis died April 23, 2000. Mrs. DeVries had been employed as a shipping clerk at DME in Madison Heights. She is survived by her sons, Terrence of Ferndale, Mark of Warren, David of Troy and Brian of Clawson; brothers, Robert Burrows of Colorado and Keith Burrows of Memphis; and eight grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Henry. Services were held in Kammeraad Funeral Home, Memphis, with the Rev. Robert J. Tucker officiating. Urn interment was in Memphis cemetery. Memorials can be made to the American Diabetes Association.

RAYMOND C. BIRKETT, Age 74, of Melvin died April 27, 2000. Mr. Birkett had been employed by Ford Motor Company at the Sterling Heights Plant where he was a heat-treat inspector; and was a member of the Melvin United Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife, Ruth; sons, Charles of Melvin and Robert of Memphis; a daughter, Susan of Brown City; five grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter. Mr Birkett was predeceased by a son, James. Services were held in Kammeraad Funeral Home, Memphis, with the Revs. David Freeland and Robert Tucket, officiating. Burial was in Mt. Pleasant cemetery, Wales.

ROSEMOND CASTLEBERRY, Age 81, of Marine City died April 21, 2000. Mrs. Castleberry is survived by a daughter, Betty Wood of Manistique; sons, John May Jr. and Robert May, all of Marine City and Douglas McCollister of Port Huron; sister, Ivy Goulait of St. Clair; 21 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Services were held in Bower-Rose Funeral Home, Marine City, with the Rev. Harvey W. Reh officiating. Burial was in Woodlawn cemetery.
