THE REV. PAUL R. HENNES, Age 89, of St. Clair died April 24, 2000. He was ordained for the Archdiocese of Detroit in Belgium; served as an associate pastor at St. Catherine Parish in Detroit and St. Stephen Parish in Port Huron; on the faculty at Sacred Heart Major Seminary; his pastorates included St. Mary Burnside Parish and Sacred Heart Mission, North Branch, St. Joseph Parish, Maybee, Our Lady of the Rosary Parish, Detroit and St. Linus Parish, Dearborn Heights until his retirement. The Rev. Hennes is survived by several cousins. Services were held in St. Mary's Parish, St. Clair. Arrangements were made by L.C. Friederichs and Son Funeral Home, St. Clair. Burial was in Mt. Olivet cemetery. Memorials can be made to St. Mary's School Scholarship Fund, 800 Orchard, St. Clair, MI 48079.

HELEN HAVENS, Age 78, of St. Clair died April 11, 2000. Mrs. Havens was retired from the St. Clair Inn. She is survived by her daughters, Mary Ann Carnahan and Cindy Shafer, both of St. Clair; sons, Richard, Arthur and Robert, all of St. Clair and Ronald of New Mexico; ten grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Services will be held at a later date in Hillside cemetery Chapel, with the Rev. Edward Ritter officiating. Arrangements were made by L.C. Friederichs and Son Funeral Home, St. Clair. Memorials can be made to St. Mary's Church.

ROBERT D. COLLINS, Age 70, of Kimball died April 25, 2000. Mr. Collins retired from Mueller Brass Company. He is survived by his wife, Nancy; daughters, Cynthia Kelch of Jeddo, Barbara Juneau and Jean Sauls, both of Tennessee; a son, Robert of Kimball; eight grandchildren; brothers, James of North Street, A.C. of Rochester, Arthur and Kelly, both of Smiths Creek and George of Marysville. He was predeceased by an infant son, William; a grandson, Dennis Kelch Jr.; and a granddaughter, Kari Kelch. Services were held in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home, Port Huron, with the Rev. Lyle Reynolds of Hillside Wesleyan Church, officiating. Burial was in Lakeside cemetery. Memorials can be made to the American Cancer Society.

ROBERT B. ALLEN, Age 71, of Marysville, formerly of Farmington Hills, died April 25, 2000. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict serving in the U.S. Army. He retired as a personnel manager from Chrysler Corporation. Mr. Allen is survived by sons, Bryce of Novi and Mark of Virginia; two grandchildren; and a brother, William of Manistee. Services were held in Hensall, Ontario. Arrangements were made by Marysville Funeral Home, Marysville. Memorials can be made to the American Cancer Society.

JANET KAYE GEHRKE, Age 57, of St. Clair Township died April 26, 2000. Mrs. Gehrke was a farmer and owner of Jan's Roadside. She is survived by her husband, H.T. Services were held in Marysville Funeral Home, with the Rev. Gerald F. Britz of St. Christopher Catholic Church, officiating. Burial was in Richmond Mausoleum, Richmond. Memorials can be made to St. Christopher Catholic Church.

MERLIN F. STUEWER, Age 84, of Port Huron died April 25, 2000. Mr. Stuewer retired from Mueller Brass; was an area amateur radio operator (W8FWQ) and a member of several local radio groups, member of St. Martin Lutheran Church, former church council member and a Red Cross volunteer. He is survived by his wife, Irene; son, Fred of St. Clair; daughter, Veronica Carolan of Missouri; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a step-grandchild; two step-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Florence Schauer of Capac. Services were held in St. Martin Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Phyllis I. Hormann officiating. Arrangements were made by Pollock-Randall Funeral Home, Port Huron. Burial was in Lakeside cemetery, Port Huron. Memorials can be made to St. Martin Lutheran Church.

WILBURN E. "JACK" THOMPSON, Age 81, of Marysville died April 14, 2000. Mr. Thompson was a veteran of World War II serving in the Army Air Corp; a member of VFW in Roseville and St. Mary's Catholic Church, St. Clair. He is survived by his wife, Rita; sons, Thomas and Ronald; daughters, Suzanne Young, Michele Hern and Lisa Wynne; 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a sister, Pearl Gary. Mr. Thompson was predeceased by a daughter Donna. Services were held in St. Mary's Catholic Church, St. Clair. Arrangements were made by L.C. Friederichs and Son Funeral Home, St. Clair. Burial was in Riverlawn cemetery. Memorials can be made to the Salvation Army or St. Mary's Scholarship Fund.

JOE SALSKI, Age 27, of Lambertville died April 26, 2000. Mr. Salski is survived by his father, Tony of Goodells; brothers, Mark of Hastings, Matthew of St. Clair, Martin of Baldwin and Ben of Avoca; step-brother, Billy; step-sister, Kelly; and grandparents: Edward and Jean Salski of Grand Rapids, Ellen and George Parlmer of Hastings and Delbert DeSmit of Bear Lake. Services were held in Young Colonial Chapel Funeral Home, St. Clair. Memorials can be made to Shriners Hospital for Children.

GERTRUDE "Trudy" DAVID, Age 74, of Memphis, formerly of Romeo died September 13, 2006 at Mt. Clemens Regional Medical Center. Surviving are her husband, Charles; sons, Richard (Candice) Rogers of Richmond, Lawrence (Rene) Rogers of Traverse City and William (Kim) Rogers of Almont; daughters, Concha (David) Rumph of Capac and Luann Rogers of Washington Township; 13 grandchildren and one great grandchild. Trudy was predeceased by her parents; brothers, Robert and Russel Rey; and sister, Margaret Podzikowski. A funeral service took place at All Saints Catholic Church and burial followed in Memphis cemetery, Richmond Township. Visitation was held at Tiffany-Young and Hauss Funeral Home, Armada. Memorials may be made to Make-A-Wish Foundation.

JOHN T. TATUM, Age 67, died September 13, 2006 at Evangelical Home of Sterling Heights. He was born June 13, 1939 in Detroit and lived in Chesterfield for three years and formerly lived in Anchorville for 25 years. Mr. Tatum retired in 1997 as a die maker for Chrysler Corporation where he worked for 32 years. He enjoyed woodworking and spending time with his family. He married Shirley (nee Gibbs) on February 15, 1960 in Harper Woods. He is survived by this wife Shirley of Chesterfield; children Tammy (Thomas) Spiekhout of Chesterfield, Lisa (Sidney) Spiekhout of Memphis, William (Nicole) Tatum of Richmond and Donald (Lisa) Tatum of New Baltimore; grandchildren, Shawn and Ashley Luther and Joshua, Callie and John Robert Tatum; brother, Douglas (Nancy) Tatum of Sterling Heights. A funeral service was held at Gendernalik Funeral Home, Inc., 35259 23 Mile Road, New Baltimore with Reverend Bryan Wide officiating. Memorials may be made to Huntington's Disease or the Season's Hospice.

ROBERT CHESTER SHIRKEY, Age 55, of Memphis passed away Friday, September 15, 2006. Surviving in addition to his wife Kathy and mother Barbara of Memphis are sons Robert and Leonard W. (Nancy) Shirkey and daughter Julie Anne Shirkey. Visitation was held at Kaatz Funeral Directors, Richmond. Rite of Christian Burial was at All Saints Catholic Church, Memphis with Father Joseph Horn, pastor, officiating. Memorials are suggested to American Cancer Society. ROBERT S. JONES, Age 77, resident of Harsens Island died September 15, 2006 in his home. He was born October 7, 1928 in Detroit. He married Mary Lou Woodling on March 1, 1952 in Rochester, Minnesota. He graduated from Cass Tech High School and served with the U.S. Army from 1950-1952. Mr. Jones retired from the Detroit Fire Department. He is survived by his wife Mary Lou; son Robert T. (Susan) Jones; daughter Laura (Richard) Grafton; three grandchildren. He is predeceased by a son Dale E. Jones. Services were held at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Harsens Island. Memorial donations may be made to St. Paul's Episcopal Church or The Blue Water Hospice.

FREDERICK E. SAHR, Age 85, resident of Chesterfield for over sixty years passed away Wednesday, October 4, 2006 at St. Joseph's Medical Center, Clinton Township. Born October 1, 1921 in Mount Clemens, Michigan to the late Edward and Louise (Zuehlke) Sahr. On September 7, 1946, Frederick was united in marriage to the former Mary A. Charbeneau at the St. Louis Catholic Church, Mount Clemens. The couple just celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. Mr. Sahr served in the United States Army Corps of Engineers 842nd in the Pacific during World War II. He retired in 1975 from Dodge Truck. Fred was a life member of 41 years in the American Legion Post #4, a member of the DAV Chapter 044 for 30 years, the VFW Post 4420, 40/8 Local 1061, a UAW member, a member of the Mount Clemens Old Crowd, and was on the Chesterfield Zoning Board from 1997 until 2001. He enjoyed gardening flowers, fishing, and loved his family, especially his three granddaughters. Fred is survived by his wife, Mary; two daughters, Janice Sahr of Clinton Township and Diane (Howard) Hummel of Casco Township; his granddaughters, Sara (Andy) Rajca of Tucson, Arizona, Katie Hummel of Sterling Heights and Kimberly Hummel of Casco Township. Mr. Sahr was predeceased by his brothers, Norvil, Alfred and Charles and his sister Gertrude. A funeral service was held at the Will and Schwarzkoff Funeral Home with the Reverend Father Tony Sulkowski officiating. Burial followed at Clinton Grove cemetery, Clinton Township with a service conducted by the Macomb County Council Ritual Team. Memorial contributions may be made to the family.

JAMES P. CLARK, Age 74, of Chesterfield for 40 years, died July 28, 2006 at Mt. Clemens Regional Medical Center in Mt. Clemens. He was born on February 21, 1932 in Detroit. Mr. Clark retired from MichCon in 1994. He served in the U.S. Army. He is survived by this children Elaine (Mark) McCollum of Richmond, Ellen Clark of Chesterfield and Eileen (Lisa) Clark of Cottrellville, Michigan; grandchildren, Curtis, Melissa, Heather, Matthew and Cristen; brother of Sally (George) DeSchepper, Harrison Township. Funeral service was Monday, July 31, 2006, Gendernalik Funeral Home, Inc., 35259 23 Mile Road, New Baltimore with burial at the Hart cemetery, Chesterfield. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association, Southeast Michigan Office, 30300 Telegraph Road, Suite 117, Bingham Farms, Michigan 48025.

LEO F. STRAUCH, Age 85, of Casco, died July 11, 2006. He was born June 14, 1921 in Anchorville. Mr. Strauch was a lifelong area dairy farmer. He is survived by his wife Mary (nee Griffor); children, Alice (Daniel) Markel of Marine City, and Leo Strauch, Jr. of Casco; grandchildren, Rebecca, Benjamin, and Kevin Markel, and Autumn Strauch. He was predeceased by his twin brother, George. A funeral mass was held July 15 at Immaculate Conception Church, Anchorville. Burial was in St. Mary's cemetery, New Baltimore. Funeral arrangements were made by Gendernalik Funeral Home, New Baltimore.

PATRICIA A.(Carroll) COOK, Age 61 of Canton, died Wednesday, July 26, 2006. She was born July 12, 1945 in Greenfield, Massachusetts. She was a 1963 graduate of Algonac High School. Ms. Cook was currently employed at Frankenmuth Mutual Insurance Company in Frankenmuth. She is survived by a daughter, Laura Scott of Snohomish, Washington; one brother, William Carroll of Romeo; and one grandson. A memorial service was held at Trinity United Methodist Church Chapel in Algonac.
