HUGH W. WHITSON
Age 77, of St. Clair, died April 14, 2002. Mr. Whitson served his country in the U.S. Marines as a staff sergeant during World War II. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; sons, Phillip, Timothy and Stephan; three grandchildren; and brothers, Glenn and George. Services were held in L. C. Friederichs and Son Funeral Home, St. Clair, with the Rev. Edward Ritter officiating. Memorials may be made to the Diabetes Association.

GEORGE E. DeLONG
Age 91, of Venice, Florida, formerly of the St. Clair area, died March 26, 2002. Mr. DeLong was owner of several retail stores in the lower Thumb area, including DeLong's Motel and Bait and Tackle Shop in St. Clair. He was a member of Ridgewood Mobile Home Park Association and the VFW Post 8118, both of Venice. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Mr. DeLong is survived by his wife, Visa; step-daughters, Phylis Langston of Fowlerville, Diane Shafer of St. Clair and Janice Rands of Cass City; step-son, Marvin Kuecken of Iowa; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and sister, Virginia Vieira of California. Cremation has taken place. Memorial services are planned for a later date. Burial was in Marysville.

LAURINE E. LEWIS
Age 83, of East China Township, died April 16, 2002. Mrs. Lewis was employed as a teacher for 35 years with the East China School District. She is survived by her daughters, Judi Schlottman of New Baltimore and Kathy Aiken of Ontario, Canada; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and sister, Ardis Sawyer of Wisconsin. She was predeceased by her husband, Myron; and brothers, Leo and Richard Endelman. Private memorial services are being planned for a later date. Arrangements were made by Gilbert Funeral Home, Algonac. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.

EDMUND JOSEPH DROUILLARD
Age 79, of Marysville, died April 17, 2002. Mr. Drouillard was founder and original owner of R TIS TIC Mold Company in St. Clair, and served in the Canadian Armed Forces during World War II. He was a member of St. Christopher Catholic Church. Mr. Drouillard is survived by his wife, Rita; sons, Edmund, Leo and David; daughters, Ruth Ann Koelzer, Mary Skrzpek, Theresa Glinisty, Catherine Lauzon, Dorothy Seacat and Ann Marie Arendt; 28 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; sisters, Edna Richards, Mary Johnson, Emily Parent and Nina Ducedre; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son, Joseph. Services were held in St. Christopher Church, with the Rev. Arthur Baranowski officiating. Burial was in Riverlawn cemetery, Marysville. Arrangements were made by Pollock-Randall Funeral Home, Port Huron. Memorials may be made to Blue Water Hospice.

MILDRED M. WEIDENBACH
Age 89, of St. Clair, died April 18, 2002. Mrs. Weidenbach was a lifelong member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, St. Clair, the Rosary Society and a 60-year member of the Daughters of Isabella. She is survived by sons, Richard of St. Clair and David of Farmington Hills; daughters, Marilyn Monte and Ann Oles, both of St. Clair; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, George "Jake." Services were held in St. Mary's Church. Burial was in St. Mary's cemetery. Arrangements were made by L.C. Friederichs and Son Funeral Home, St. Clair. Memorials may be made to the wishes of the family.

RONALD D. ROCK JR.
Age 24, of Memphis, died April 19, 2002. Mr. Rock was a student at the Woodland Developmental School in Port Huron. He is survived by his parents, Ronald "Pete" Sr. and Rose Rock; sister, Melissa Bremerkamp of Capac; one nephew; and many extended family members. He was predeceased by his grandparents, Joseph and Rose Beltz, James and Erma Hinson and Harold Rock. Services were held in Kammeraad Funeral Home, Memphis, with Mr. Harold L. Rock officiating. Memorials may be made to Mr. Rock's parents.

RITA D. MATTHEWS
Age 74, of Chesterfield, died July 17, 2002. Mrs. Matthews was a homemaker and a member of St. Mary Queen of Creation Church, New Baltimore. She is survived by a daughter, Sherrill Richardson of New Baltimore; son, Dennis of Illinois; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a sister, Evelyn Sieffert. Mrs. Matthews was predeceased by her husband, William; sisters, Virginia Nowicki and Edna VanLoon; and a brother, Arthur Otremba. Services were held in St. Mary Queen of Creation Church, New Baltimore, with the Rev. Michael Prince officiating. Arrangements were made by Gendernalik Funeral Home, New Baltimore. Burial was in St. Mary's cemetery.

GLADYS E. WILKE
Age 93, of New Baltimore, died July 15, 2002. Mrs. Wilke is survived by several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Frederick. Services were held in Gendernalik Funeral Home, New Baltimore. Burial was in Oakwood cemetery, New Baltimore. Memorials can be made to Dibley Homes, Algonac.

JOHN "LORNE" FARRELL
Age 84, of Marysville, died July 15, 2002. Mr. Farrell retired from General Motors as an engineer. He was a member of Knights of Columbus, Marysville Golf Club and Elks BPOE Lodge 343. Mr. Farrell served in the U.S. Army. He is survived by his wife, Joyce; daughters, Karen Cooper of Chesterfield, Colleen Shomock of Clinton Township and Michelle Khurana of Florida; sons, Patrick of Florida and Thomas of Arizona; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sisters, Dorothy Louisignau of Westland and Pat Butler of California; and a brother, Tom of North Carolina. Services were held in St. Christopher Catholic Church, with the Rev. Gerald Britz officiating. Arrangements were made by Marysville Funeral Home. Burial was in Riverlawn cemetery, Marysville. Memorials can be made to Blue Water Hospice.

KENNETH D. MELDRUM
Age 86, of Ira, died July 14, 2002. Mr. Meldrum was owner of Meldrum Plastics and former partner of Butler Plastics, Marine City. He was a member of the Society of Plastic Engineers, Knights of Columbus and Immaculate Conception Church. Mr. Meldrum is survived by his sons, Charles of Algonac, James of New Baltimore and Rene of Anchorville; daughters, Cheryl Newcomb of Chesterfield and Mary Tilli of Royal Oak; 16 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brothers, David of Arizona, Robert of St. Clair and Jack of Warren; and a sister, Mary Jane Furtah of Florida. He was predeceased by his wife, Mary; and a son, Kenneth. Services were held in Immaculate Conception Church, Anchorville. Arrangements were made by Gendernalik Funeral Home, New Baltimore. Burial was in Sacred Heart cemetery. Memorials can be made to Immaculate Conception building fund.

HAROLD G. VERMEULEN
Age 87, of Clay, died July 14, 2002. Mr. Vermeulen was retired from Chris Craft Corporation. He is survived by his wife, Florence; daughter, Junetta Good; 12 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Evelyn Sharrow and Mary Furtah; and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Vermeulen was predeceased by sons, John and Gary; sister, Betty Hodgins; and brothers, Walter, Clarence, Willie and Donald. Services were held in Gilbert Funeral Home, Algonac, with Pastor Daniel Rhodes of Algonac Baptist Church, officiating. Burial was in Oaklawn cemetery, Algonac. Memorials can be made to the wishes of the family.

ARTHUR W. COOLEY
Age 59, of Marysville, died July 15, 2002. Mr. Cooley was employed as a master electrician at Prestolite Wire Company and with the State of Michigan Southgate Regional Center. He is survived by his wife, Laura; daughter, Heather; his mother, Virginia of Port Huron; brothers, Richard Jr. of Port Huron Township and Thomas of Ann Arbor; and many nephews. Mr. Cooley was predeceased by his daughter, Lisa; and father, Richard Sr. Services were held in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home, with the Rev. Daniel S. Bakay of First Baptist Church of Port Huron, officiating. Burial was in Lakeside cemetery, Port Huron.

ALEXANDER ALBERT
Age 58, of Marysville, died July 14, 2002. Mr. Albert is survived by his wife, Julia; daughter, Teresa Kotsch of Kincheloe; sons, Paul Albert of Arizona and Kerry Kotsch of Florida; brother, Richard of Port Huron; sister, Marcia Albert of Florida; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Arrangements were made by Pollock-Randall Funeral Home, Port Huron. Memorials can be made to American Heart Association and the March of Dimes.
