EDWARD ALLEN KELLER
Edward Allen Keller, 76, of Snover, Michigan, passed away Saturday, June 7, 2008 after a series of extended illnesses including diabetes and cancer at the Marlette Regional Hospital Hospice House in Marlette, Michigan.
He was born April 11, 1932 in Wauseon, Ohio the only child of the late Edward Andrew and Gertrude L. (Nia) Keller.

He married May Alice Davis on April 14, 1951 in Wauseon, Ohio. Mr. Keller has lived in the Marlette-Snover area 45 years after having moved here from Lyons, Ohio in 1963.

Mr. Keller worked much of his adult life in foundries, the last 30 years before retiring in Eaton-Grede Foundry, Vassar, Michigan.

He was a member of the Grace Bible Church, Marlette, Michigan. He was Santa Claus in and around the Snover and Sandusky area for several years until illness and the loss of his leg prevented him from doing so. He also enjoyed auctions, antiques, making wooden crafts, caring for his lawn, gardening, visiting with friends and, most of all, his family.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Alice; sons, Allen (Sharleen) Keller of Sandusky, Michigan, Andrew (Cindy) Keller of Marlette, Michigan, Robert (Dawn) Keller of Hart, Michigan; daughter, Lou Ann (John Catlin of Queanbeyan, NSW, Australia; sister-in-law, William Skiver of Swanton, Ohio and Dorothy Davis of Baltimore, Ohio; grandchildren, Lisa (Jeremy) Nichols, Malia Carl Gravel (Michael), Rodney Keller (Ruth), Christopher Keller (Danyelle), Amy Keller, Amber Keller, Adam (Katie) Keller; eight great-grandsons and one great-granddaughter; several nieces, nephews and their families.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 11, 2008 at 1:00 pm at the Marsh Funeral Chapel in Marlette, Michigan, with Pastor Mike Hollenbeck officiating. Burial will be in the Mooretown cemetery, Snover, Michigan.

Memorials may be given to the Marlette Regional Hospital Extended Care Facility or Marlette Hospice House of Grace Bible Church.

Visitation will be Tuesday June 10, 2008 from 1:00 to 9:00 pm and Wednesday June 11, 2008 at 12:00 until time of service at the Marsh Funeral Chapel, in Marlette, Michigan.

PAUL G. PROWSE
Paul G. Prowse, 73, life long resident of Marlette passed away Sunday, June 8, 2008 at Marlette Hospice Residence.
He was born October 14, 1934 in Marlette, son to the late Harry and Grace (Wilson) Prowse.

He graduated from Marlette High School in 1952 and attended M.S.U. for 1 year. He married Mary Lou Nicol on March 19, 1955 in Marlette.

He was a life long member of the Marlette First United Methodist Church.

Mr. Prowse farmed, worked for Agri Business in Marlette, was a partner in a Ford Dealership in Marlette at one time and was former branch manager for Kingston State Bank and Exchange State Bank.

He enjoyed his classic cars, mowing lawn, watching his grandson's race and most of all, his family.

He is survived by his wife ,Mary Lou; son, Victor Prowse of Hastings; daughter, Valeree Prowse of Decker; grandsons, Andrew and Tyler Hobson of Marlette; son-in-law, Doug A. Hobson of Marlette and sister, Dorothy (Jack) Kelly of Marlette. He is preceded in death by his parents and daughter, Venae Hobson.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, June 12, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. in the Marsh Funeral Chapel in Marlette, with Rev. Daniel Bowman officiating.

Interment will be in the Marlette cemetery.

Memorials may be donated to the Marlette First United Methodist Church or United Hospice Service.

Visitation will be held at the Marsh Funeral Chapel in Marlette on Tuesday 7pm to 9pm and Wednesday 3pm to 9pm

GLADYS MARJORIE HENDERSON
G. Marjorie Henderson, 92, of Kingston, died Friday, May 30, 2008 in Brian’s House, Bay City, following a short illness.
She was born May 15, 1916 in Mayville to Earl and Gladys (Graham) Campbell. She married Fred Lynn Henderson October 29, 1933 in Manistee. He died September 19, 1994.

She worked as a Postal Clerk retiring from the Caro Post Office after 28 years. She was a member of the Embroideries Guild of America, American Needlepoint Guild and a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed quilting, needlework and loved to read. She was a member of the Kingston United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her daughters, Shrilly Cline of Toledo, OH, Janet Cartier of Howell, Susan Schafer of Des Moines, IA; son-in-law, Joe Bennett of St. Charles; 15 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, Fred Lynn Henderson 111 and a daughter, Kay Bennett.

Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, June 8, 2008 in Kranz Funeral Home - Kingston with Rev. Rick Brown of Kingston United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will be in Kingston cemetery. Memorials may be made to Kingston United Methodist Church, Brian’s House Bay City of Kingston Rescue. Family and friends may share memories, prayers and stories with the family at www.kranzfuneralhome.com.

Visitation: 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday, June 7, 2008 at Kranz Funeral Home, Kingston.

VELMA D. KELLY
Velma D. Kelly, 92, passed away peacefully, Thursday, May 22, 2008 at Marlette Regional Hospital-Hospice Residence.
She was born July 4, 1915 in Sandusky, daughter to the late Robert and Ivah (Camp) Lowery.

She graduated from Sandusky High School in 1932 and received her teaching certificate from Eastern Michigan University.

She taught 34 years - 18 of them in the Marlette Elementary School and also was a reading specialist and resource teacher for the Migrant School program. On June 19, 1937, she married Elwin R. Kelly who preceded her in death on November 11, 1986.

She was a member of the Marlette First United Methodist Church and several local clubs.

She and her husband retired to Delray Beach, Florida in 1979.

She is survived by three daughters, Joanne and Susan Kelly of Lapeer, Jeanette (Richard) Long of Caseville; three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, grandson, brother and sister. Cremation has taken place at the Sunset Valley Crematory in Bay City.

A graveside memorial service will be held at the Moore Twp. cemetery in Snover at a late date.

Memorials may be donated to the United Hospice Service.

DONALD LEROY REAMER
Donald Leroy Reamer, 65, of Nunnelly, Tennessee and formerly of Marlette Township passed away May 24, 2008.
He was born in Lapeer, Michigan on April 17, 1943 to Donald Earl Reamer and his wife Ruth.

He married Cathleen Sweet on November 28, 1984.

He retired from Pontiac Motors after 30 years. His main hobbies were to tinker in the garage and restore old cars and motorcycles.

He is survived by his wife, Cathleen; four children, Kitty (Brent) Christensen, Karen (Mark) Atkins, Leroy (Tina) Reamer and Brian (Alison) Sweet; six grandchildren and four great grandchildren; nine siblings, Stan (Beatrice) Hobson, Betty Kline, Joan Landon, Marie (Bill) Harvey, Pat (Mike) Janisch, Vivian Harrington, Mary James, Joyce Becker, and Rick (Sharon) Reamer. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, George.

Funeral Services were conducted on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at Carman Funeral Home in Brown City with burial following in Germania cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the wishes of the family.

DORA MAE ANDERSON
Dora Mae (White) Anderson - Born July 11, 1923 - Died May 30, 2008 at Marlette Hospice with her children by her side.
Preceded in death by her husband, Charles Emerson Anderson in 1988 and parents Zachariah and Emma (Smith) White as well as ten brothers and sisters. She is survived by her children - Judith Doreen (Carroll) Jones of Palestine, TX; Alyce Lynn (Bob) Mallady of Brown City, MI.; David Charles (Mary) Anderson of Marlette; Donald Cole (Patty) Anderson of Marlette, 13 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

She live on the Anderson farm north of Marlette from 1950 until a week before she passed away. She was a good friend to many and everyone's favorite aunt. She was a prolific letter writer and kept track of the family history on both sides of the family. She was well known locally for her many quilts. She was an organic gardener starting in the 1960s. She was raised in Brown City on the White farm and worked for the Brown City Banner for many years as a Linotype operator.

Cremation has taken place at Sunset Valley Crematory, no services will be held.

PAUL JAMES OBERTEIN
Paul James Obertein, 57, of Clifford, passed away Saturday, May 31, 2008 at his home.
He was born March 04, 1951 in Bay City, Michigan the son of Harry and Pauline (Claeys) Obertein.

He was a 1969 graduate of Caro High School, attended Delta College for 3 years, he worked at General Motors in Saginaw for 30 years, retiring in 1999 and moved to this area 13 years ago from Caro.

He married Cheryl James on June 23, 1995 in Marlette.

He was a member of the Heritage United Methodist Church, Snover, and a life member of the NRA.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, going to North Carolina in the winter, playing the Fiddle and Guitar.

He is survived by his wife Cheryl, Jennifer Obertein (daughter) of Hemlock, Anne Obertein (daughter) of Berkley, Justin Green (son) of Deckerville, Jeremy Green (son) of Clifford, four grandchildren, Logan Warian, Trystin Warian, Devyn Warian, Elyse Green, Harry and Pauline Obertein (parents) of Vassar, Julie and Fred Losee (Sister) of Vassar, Linda and Marc Chambers (Sister) of Caro, Harold and Lois James (father and mother-in-law) of Clifford.

Visitation will be held at Marsh Funeral Chapel, Marlette on Tuesday from 1 - 9 PM and on Wednesday at Heritage First United Methodist Church, Snover from 10 - 11:00 a.m.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 4, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. at Heritage United Methodist Church, Snover with Rev. David Pratt officiating.

Cremation will follow services at the Sunset Valley Crematory in Bay City.

Memorial suggestions to Heritage United Methodist Church Memorial Fund or United Hospice.
