CATHERINE E. DRAHER
Catherine E. Draher, 86, of Marlette, passed away Sunday, April 15, 2007 at the Marlette Regional Hospital in Marlette.
She lived in Marlette the past 65 years and was previously from the Sandusky area.

She was born March 11, 1921 in Sandusky, Michigan, daughter to the late Karl and Katalin (Freiderich) Reiner.

She graduated from Sandusky High School in 1938.

She married Paul G. Draher on February 9, 1942 in Camp Polk, Louisiana. He preceded her in death on February 3, 1995.

She was a member of the St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Marlette.

She was a professional seamstress in the Marlette area for many years and also was a bookkeeper for Wilson Motor Sales and Hall-Wilson Chevrolet.

She enjoyed golfing, bowling, playing cards, sewing, playing games, the Detroit Pistons and, most of all, her family.

She was one of the ladies very instrumental in getting the Marlette cemetery Chapel Fund started.

She is survived by five daughters, Lisa Volz of Marlette, Katie Draher of Marlette, Carla and Tom Albertson of Clifford, Stacie and Ron McWilliams of Gastonia, NC and Amy and Matt Crane of Marlette; sister, Betty Hoyer of Chatsworth, CA.; 16 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, Frank and Michael Reiner and sister, Ann (Wood) James.

Funeral services were conducted on Wednesday, April 18, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at the St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Marlette, with Fr. Andrzej Boroch officiating.

Burial was in the St. Elizabeth cemetery in Marlette.

Memorials may be donated to the St. Elizabeth Catholic Church.

A scripture service was conducted on Tuesday night at 7pm at the funeral chapel. Arrangements by Marsh Funeral Chapel, Inc., Marlette, MI.

GORDON D. ARBITTER
Gordon D. Arbitter, 99, of Decker, passed away peacefully at his home in Evergreen Twp., Sunday, April 15, 2007.
He had lived in Evergreen Twp. since 1969 and was previously from Madison Hts. He was born April 26, 1907 in Detroit, Michigan, son to the late John and Lydia (Adiska) Arbitter.

He married Elma G. Custer on August 17, 1929 in Detroit.

He worked 26 years for Federal Mogul Bower Barring Co. in Detroit.

He attended the Lamotte Missionary Church.

He enjoyed the outdoors and, most of all, his family.

He is survived by his wife, Elma; two daughters, Bernice and Rollin Binkley Jr. of Hazel Park and Helen Marie Tacon of Henderson, NV; sister, Eleanor Rives of Traverse City; four grandchildren, Rollin Binkley III, Rhonda McKay, Andrea Ortiz and Ann Primeoux and eleven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and 13 siblings.

Funeral services were conducted Friday, April 20, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. at the Lamotte Missionary Church, with Rev. Gary Butterfield officiating. Burial was in the Evergreen Twp. cemetery in Shabbona. Memorials may be donated to the Lamotte Missionary Church.

IVA MAE HILDINGER
Iva M. Hildinger, 81, formerly of Cass City, passed away Thursday, April 19, 2007 in Marlette Hospice Residence.
She was born January 1, 1926 in Lamotte Township to Herman and Bertha (Wendorf) Hildinger. She never married .

She received her Bachelor of Arts Degree from Westmar College. She attended St. Mary’s Medical Center, Saginaw for her nurses training. She was part of the Cadet Nurse Corp during World War II. She received her registration as a nurse in November 1947. She worked for five summers with the Saginaw Health Delivery Clinic taking care of migrant workers. She worked in a church hospital in New Mexico for over 14 years. Along with her mother, she owned and operated Cass City Hospital until 1968, she worked for Tendercare for five years and part time for Autumnwood of Deckerville for over two years. In 1989, she retired from nursing because of an accident.

She was a former member of Salem United Methodist Church and Cass City United Methodist Church. She was a member of the former Cass City Business and Professional Women. She enjoyed oil painting, sewing, cooking, baking, trying new recipes and working on word search puzzles.

She is survived by special niece and nephew, Rennae and Rick Mazei of Sandusky; many cousins and special friend, Joyce Cameron.

Funeral services were conducted at 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 23, 2007 in Kranz Funeral Home Cass City with Pastor David Pratt of Heritage United Methodist Church, Snover officiating. Memorials may be made to Marlette Extended Care Facility or United Hospice of Marlette. Interment followed in Moore Township cemetery.

Pallbearers for Ms. Hildinger: Rick Mazei, Steven McKenney, Rennae Mazei, Karen Dickinson, Ken Cameron. Family and friends may share memories, stories with the family at www.kranzfuneralhome.com.

RICHARD RAYMOND WENSON
Richard Raymond Wenson, 79, of Marlette, passed away Monday, April 16, 2007 at Marlette hospice Residence in Marlette, Michigan.
He was born August 7, 1927 in Detroit, Michigan, the son of the late John and Anastasia (Kirschling) Wenson.

He was a 1945 graduate of St. Philip Neri Catholic High School in Detroit. He served his country in the Army for seven years following WWII and into the Korean War.

He was a disabled veteran and a H.A.M. radio operator.

He married Veronica E. Mundt on August 12, 1949 in Detroit.

He moved to this area 34 years ago from Detroit.

He was a truck driver for 20 years, retiring in 1987 from Dunn & Mavis Trucking. He was known as “Papa” from Pass ’N Time and the Pronto Mart.

He is survived by his wife, Veronica; Frank Wenson (son) of Marlette, Elizabeth and Gary Verlinde (daughter) of Nevada, Patrick Wenson (son) of Nevada, Mary Margaret and Max Chappel (daughter) of Clifford, Kathleen and Nik Woods (daughter) of Marlette and seven grandchildren, Adam Verlinde, Ryan Wenson, Remington Atkinson, Erik Wenson, Nathan Wenson, Kelsey Wenson and Emma Grace Woods.

He was preceded in death by 14 brothers and sisters.

Cremation was at the Sunset Valley Crematory in Bay City.

Memorial services were conducted Saturday, April 21, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, Marlette with Fr. Andrzej Boroch officiating.

Memorial suggestions to the Marlette Regional Hospital or United Hospice. Arrangements by Marsh Funeral Chapel, Marlette.

MAX E. KRAFT
Max E. Kraft, 83, long time florist of Marlette passed away Friday, April 13, 2007 at his home in Marlette, Michigan. He had lived in Marlette since 1947 and was previously from the Sandusky area.
He was born March 24, 1923 in Cash, Michigan, son to the late John and Estella (Rouke) Kraft.

He graduated from Sandusky High School in 1941 and then attended Michigan State College.

He married Evelyn L. Schneider on September 7, 1946 in Marlette.

Max and his wife have owned and operated the Marlette Greenhouse since 1950. He attended the Marlette First Presbyterian Church.

He was a member of the Marlette Lion’s Club and was very active in the Marlette Community Park and Pool.

He and wife were recently honored at the Marlette Regional Hospital Tree of Shinning Love.

He enjoyed music, being evolved with the community and spending time with his friends and family.

He is survived by his wife, Evelyn of Marlette; Barbara and Lon Kenny (daughter) of Lapeer, MI, Janet Kraft (daughter) of Marlette, MI, Karen Kraft and John Karavias (daughter) of Troy, MI, John and Sara Kraft (son) of Oakland, CA, Helene Kraft and Don Spinks (daughter) of Marlette, MI, Matthew and Debra Kraft (son) of Fort Lauderdale, FL; two sisters, Merle Cumper of Marlette, MI, and Patsy McCumons of Marlette, MI; 11 grandchildren, Meegan, Sarah, Amalea, Alaina, Jennifer, Alexandra, Andreana, Chad, Jacob, Michaela and Rebecca and five great-grandchildren, Zachary, McKenzie, Ariya, Mataya and Eden.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Paul Kraft and brothers, Gerald and Robert Kraft.

Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, April 17, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at the Marsh Funeral Chapel in Marlette, with Rev. John R. Allan officiating.

Burial will be in the Germania cemetery.

Arrangements by Marsh Funeral Chapel, Marlette, MI.

ALICE B. SNYDER
Alice B. Snyder, 104, of Snover, Michigan, passed away Wednesday, April 11, 2007 at the Marlette Extended Care Facility.
She was born February 5, 1903 in the family farm home in Snover, Michigan, daughter to the late Charles and Anna Snyder.

She worked at the Willow Run Bomber Plant during WWII where she retired as head bookkeeper. She was a former Sanilac County Treasurer and worked for Simonson-McLaren Insurance Agency in Sandusky.

She is survived by two nephews, Edward (Jan) Herron of Marlette and Frank (Betty) Herron of Marlette, several great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Frances, Edna, Ida and Esther; a brother, Frank and a nephew, Bill Bowers.

A memorial service will be conducted on Thursday, April 19, 2007 at 7:00 p.m. at the Marsh Funeral Chapel in Marlette with Rev. Fred Becknell officiating. Burial was in Hyslop cemetery in Sandusky, Michigan.

Memorials may be donated to Heaven Sent Ministries in Marlette.
