ROBERT GORDON HOOPER
Robert G. Hooper, 58 of Marlette passed away unexpectedly, Thursday, April 5, 2007 at Hilton Head Regional Medical Center, Hilton Head, South Carolina.
He was born October 29, 1948 in Deckerville, Michigan the son of Gordon and Agnes (Sweet) Hooper.

He was a lifelong area resident, a 1966 graduate of Deckerville High School, and was a self employed builder.

He married Lyn Agar on September 17, 1999 in Toledo, Ohio.

He is survived by his wife, Lyn; two daughters, Michelle Lynn and Howard Muir of Marysville and Bobbi Jo Hooper of Rochester; a son, Scott Hooper of Sandusky; step-son, Ira Ward and Ellen Cook of Naples, Florida; parents, Gordon and Agnes Hooper of Deckerville, mother-in-law, Winona Agar of Marlette, a sister, Sharon Hooper of Carsonville; nephew, Robert (Cindy) Bartholemew; niece, Kim and (Douglas) Neumeyer; great nieces and nephews, Paige and Hunter Bartholemew, Doug and Derek Neumeyer; two grandchildren, Josh and Jordan Muir; brother-in-law, Scott Agar of Fairfield, Iowa and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Janet Pohl.

Cremation has taken place in South Carolina.

A memorial service will be held at the Community in Christ Church, Marlette, MI. on Saturday, April 21, 2007 at 1:00 p.m.

Memorial suggestions to any organization of the donor’s personal choice. Arrangements by Marsh Funeral Chapel, Marlette.

C.J. SPENCER
C.J. Spencer, 96, life long resident and farmer of Marlette, passed away Saturday, April 14, 2007 at his home in Marlette Twp.
He was born January 31, 1911 son to the late Carl and Ada (Fraiser) Spencer. He graduated from Marlette High School in 1929 and attended Michigan State College.

He married Myrle G. Jackson on April 8, 1952 in Marlette. She preceded him in death on April 17, 1995.

He was a member of the Marlette First United Methodist Church and Michigan Flying Farmer Association.

He was one of the founding pioneers of aviation in the Marlette area. During WWII he was a spotter for the Civil Air Patrol in Marlette.

He is survived by his son, Bryce and Lisa Spencer of Kingston and five grandchildren, Andrea, Jeremy, Jonathan, Aaron, Chelsea.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; daughter, Mary Ann Spencer and sister, Loola Simpson.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 18, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. at the Marsh Funeral Chapel in Marlette, with Pastor Daniel Bowman of Marlette First United Methodist Church officiating.

Burial will be in the Marlette cemetery.

Memorials may be donated to the Marlette First United Methodist Church.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 2pm to 8pm at the Marsh Funeral Chapel in Marlette.

LILLIAN MOTT
Lillian Mott, 95, of Imlay City passed away Tuesday, April 3, 2007 at the Marlette Extended Care.
She was born on January 6, 1912 in Detroit, Michigan the daughter of Joseph and Anna (Ceszik) Kloc.

She married Albert Mott on September 28, 1932 in Burnside Twp. She spent most of her life in the Imlay City area.

She was a homemaker, a good mom and “great grandmother”. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Altar Society and a VFW Auxiliary member.

She is survived by one son, Leonard Mott of Almont; six daughters, Elsie Campbell of Marlette, Betty Cummings of Walled Lake, Ann Ragatz of North Branch, Margie (Carl) Wangler of Goodrich, Barbara (Jerry) Nagy of Imlay City and Kathy (Daniel) Stoin of Mt. Clemens; 39 grandchildren; 51 great-grandchildren; 18 great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Joseph Kloc of Marlette and three sisters, Theresa, Helen and Julia.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Mott in 1968; sons, Edward Mott and Jerry Mott at birth; son-in-laws, R.J. Campbell and Charles Cummings; several grandchildren and several brothers and sisters.

Funeral services were conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 9, 2007 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Burnside. Father Rich Treml officiated with interment at St. Mary’s cemetery. There was a Rosary at the funeral home.

Arrangements by Muir Brothers Funeral Home, 225 N. Main Street, Imlay City.

SAVANNAH ROSE STULTZ
Savannah Rose Stultz was stillborn at 5 months after conception March 30, 2007 at Covenant Harrison Hospital in Saginaw, MI. She weighed 11oz. and was 9 1/2 inches long.
She is survived by her parents, Amanda B. Atkinson and Matthew M. Stultz of Warren, MI; her great-grandparents, Herman Wilson of Florida, Errol and Nora Atkinson, Sr. of Washington Twp., and Marie Chambers of Las Vegas, NV.; grandparents, Errol Atkinson, Jr. of Warren, Brook Atkinson of Mayville, and Lynn Stultz of Macomb and cousins, Tyler and Austin Majors of Mayville. She is preceded in death by great-grandmother Marilyn Wilson, and grandfather, Michael Stultz.

There will be no service, but a cremation is taking place through Marsh’s Funeral Home in Marlette.

SHARON A. HORNE
Sharon A. (Hayward) Horne, 63, passed away Monday, April 2, 2007 at her home in Decker, Michigan.
She was born May 2, 1943 in Cass City, Michigan, daughter to the late Russell and Julia (Sherman) Hayward. She graduated from Marlette High School in 1961. She married Fred Horne on May 18, 1984 in Cass City. She was a member of the Marlette Classic Car Club where she was a officer and also a member of the Lamotte Twp. Firefighters Auxiliary and Bingo.

She is survived by her husband, Fred Horne of Decker, Michigan; a sister, Marion (Robert) Fields of Decker Michigan; a brother, Harold (Helen) Hayward of Oxford, Michigan; five children; son, Dale R. (Susan) Potter of Kingston, Michigan, daughter, Lora Walker and Rodney Long of Sandusky, Michigan, sons, Elton John (Brandy) Horne and Levi Horne (Barb Horak) of Decker, Michigan, and daughter, Reva (Bill) Diehl of Caro, Michigan; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Alfred and Mary Horne of Cass City, Michigan; sister-in-law, Marie (Larry) Groombridge of Traverse City, Michigan, brother-in-laws; Curt Horne of Virginia, Randy (Marie) Horne, Donald (Robin) Horne, Allen (Jenny) Horne, Michael (Danyal) Horne, and Robert Horne all from Cass City, Michigan, 13 grandchildren; Michelle Craig of Mayville, Michigan, Bill Grimmer serving active duty in Iraq, Amanda and Stephanie Potter of Kingston, Michigan, LeAnne and Tammy Walker of Sandusky, Michigan, Cacealya and Dustin Horne of Decker, Michigan, Cody Horne of Decker, Michigan and Ashley, Jessica, Billy and Justin Diehl of Caro, Michigan; 3 great-grandchildren; McKayla, Abbigail and Destiny Craig of Mayville, Michigan as well as many nieces, nephews, and special friends.

She is proceeded in death by parents, Russell and Julia Hayward; sisters Doris and brother-in-law Art Fishell; sister, Norma Jean Hayward and brother, Duane Hayward.

Cremation has taken place at the Sunset Valley Crematory in Bay City, Michigan. There will be a memorial service in her honor Sunday, April 15, 2007 at the Lamotte Township Hall in Decker at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Gerald Steele officiating.

Memorials may be donated to the United Hospice Service, Lamotte Twp. Firefighters Auxiliary or the family.

Visitation will be held on Sunday from 1 pm to 5 pm at the Lamotte Twp. Hall. Arrangements by Marsh Funeral Chapel, Inc., Marlette, MI.

WELDONNA A. THORNTON
Weldonna A. Thornton, 89, of Sandusky, passed away Tuesday, April 3, 2007 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Pontiac.
She lived in Sandusky since 1971 and was previously from the Marlette area.

She was born July 9, 1917 in Converse, Indiana, daughter to the late Dr. Weldon and Delight (Summers) Gift.

She was a 1936 graduate of Marlette High School.

She married Rebert W. Thornton on November 12, 1939 in Marlette. The couple was married for 42 years. He preceded her in death on September 13, 1981.

She attended the Sandusky Presbyterian Church and First Presbyterian Church in Marlette.

She served as Red Cross Chairman in the thumb area for 4 years, was a Grey Lady, officer for the Mid Thumb Bowling league, a Girl Scout Counselor, and a volunteer for United Hospice Service for 10 years.

She was a former member of the Wednesday Night Ladies Bowling League, Huron Shores Golf Club and Woodland Hills Golf Club.

She enjoyed helping people, hand knitting, embroidery, bowling, playing bridge, golf and, most of all, her family.

She is survived by son, Ron and Joan Thornton of Vandalia, OH; two daughters, Mary Lois Billow of Marlette and Linda and Ken Crabtree of Ortonville; two brothers, Ronald and Caye Gift of California and Ken and Diane Gift of Arizona; sister, Lois Wilson of Marlette; seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and son, Jack Thornton who passed away in 1962.

Funeral services were conducted on Saturday, April 7, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at the Marlette First Presbyterian Church, with Rev. Mark Morningstar officiating. Burial was in the Marlette cemetery in Marlette.

Memorials may be donated to the St. Joseph Mercy Comfort Care.

Casketbearers were Lance Billow, Scott Billow, Dan Mahaffy, Mike Jennings, Josh Albright and Jason Albright.

SARAH JEAN (SCHELL) WRIGHT
Sarah Jean (Schell) Wright, 89 of Mayville passed away Friday, February 23, 2007 at the Fisher Convalescent Home.
She was born August 10, 1917 to Arthur Lloyd and Jennie Myrtle (Jeffery) Schell in Kingston, MI.

She graduated from Caro High School then attended County Normal where she earned her teaching certificate. While raising her family, she attended night school earning a Baccalaureate Degree from Eastern Michigan University and received her Masters Degree from Central Michigan University.

She married Paul Wright on June 25, 1938. They owned the hardware store in Mayville and also built and owned the Mayville Bowling Alley. They also owned and operated the Western Auto in Marlette.

She was a teacher in several schools and spent most of her time teaching at Mayville Elementary School.

She was a member of the Mayville United Methodist Church since 1945, Mayville United Methodist Rachel’s Circle, Michigan Retired Teachers Assoc. and Mayville Meal Site Friends.

She loved her grandchildren, enjoyed crocheting, sewing, knitting, flowers, dominoes, bingo and friends.

She is survived by one son: Jeffery L. Wright of Beverly Hills, MI., four daughters: Judith L. Fischer of Marlette, Lovina Lou Huffman of Marlette, Patricia Lynn Oberle of Caro and Lori L. Lau of Mt. Pleasant, fifteen grandchildren, thirty five great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul; one son, Robert Lee; three brothers, Lloyd, Francis and Ward Schell and one sister, Emily Ferguson. Friends may share an online condolence at www.avramfuneralhome.com

Funeral services were conducted February 26 at the Mayville United Methodist Church in Mayville with Pastor John Ball officiating. Interment was at the Kingston cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Mayville United Methodist Church.
