PHYLLIS JEANE WISWELL
Phyllis Jeane Wiswell, 82, of Caseville, MI, formerly of Snover, MI, passed away Monday July 24, 2006 at the Marlette Extended Care Facility in Marlette, MI.
She was born to Curtis and Velma (Cousins) Cargill in Marlette, MI, on April 19, 1924.

She married Donald H. Wiswell on October 6, 1945 in Marlette, MI. They made their home and raised their children in Snover, MI. She was a Marlette High School graduate of the class of 1942 and a graduate of Grace Nurses Training in 1945. As an R.N. she was privileged to help many people in the area in hospitals, the community and Bay Shore Camp and also served as a public health nurse in Sanilac County for a number of years.

When Hills & Dales Hospital opened in Cass City, MI, she turned the key at the dedication ceremony and worked there until her retirement. After retiring from nursing, she got her real-estate license and found that she loved to paint, travel and do volunteer work.

She was a member of the Heritage United Methodist Church in Snover, MI. for many years where she was a Sunday School teacher and one year for Bible school she did a study on medicines in the Bible.

She is survived by her husband, Donald; daughter, Linda Reeves on Ida, MI, daughter Bonnie Wiswell of Freemont, CA; son, Paul (Nancy) Wiswell of Holly, MI, son Richard Wiswell of Clio, MI; seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters, Maxine (Rex) Taylor of Marlette, MI and Mary Jo Cargill of Marlette, MI. and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, and infant brother, Leonard and her sister, Florence Heberling.

Funeral services were conducted Friday, July 28, 2006 at 11:00 A.M. at the Heritage United Methodist Church in Snover, with Rev. Philip Voss officiating. Burial was in the Mooretown cemetery in Snover.

Memorials may be donated to the Bay Shore Camp, Marlette Extended Care Facility or United Hospice Service.

ELEANOR C. SULLIVAN
Eleanor C. Sullivan, 77, of Grand Blanc, formerly of Ann Arbor, passed away Wednesday, July 26, 2006 at Genesy’s Regional Medical Center in Grand Blanc. She was born June 6, 1929 in Marlette, daughter to the late O’Connell and Vida (Byrne) Sullivan.
She was a 1947 graduate of Marlette High School.

She was a member of the Business & Professional Women’s Club from 1969 to 1982. She served as Treasurer, Vice-President & President of the Ann Arbor B.P.W., and also was Treasurer of the district level of B.P.W. At the Riverbend Continuing Care Facility, she was President of the Residents Council from November 1998 through June of 2001, where she served as residents advisor for activities in bowling and bingo.

She is survived by a brother; Leo and Lucille Sullivan of Marlette and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Robert and sister, Jacqueline Freiburger.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, July 29, 2006 at 11:00 A.M. in the St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Marlette, with Fr. Andrzej Boroch. Burial was in the St. Elizabeth cemetery in Marlette.

Memorials may be donated to the St. Elizabeth Catholic Church.

NITA N. BARTON
Nita N. Barton, 87, of Clifford, Michigan passed away Sunday, June 18, 2006 at her home in Koylton Twp. She had lived in the Clifford area for 16 years and was previously from Rochester, Michigan.
She was born May 30, 1919 in Dexter, Missouri, daughter to the late Elmer and Stella (Higginbotham) Williams.

She married John T. Barton Jr. on October 18, 1942 in Napoleon, Ohio. He preceded her in death on October 27, 2003.

She worked as an inspector for Pontiac Motors for 20 years, retiring in 1974.

She is survived by daughters, Cheryl (Robert) Gabert of Lapeer, MI and Karen (Bert Jr.) Commings of Columbiaville, MI; brother, Robert (Lorraine) Williams of Minneapolis, MN; grandchildren, Michael Ackerman, Paul Gavin, Melissa (Mike) Jucius and Jeremy (JoAnn) Ward and great-grandchildren, John, Joey, Aaron, Damon and Joslynn.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Vickie Barton; brother, Franklin Williams and sister, Nadine McCoy.

Cremation has taken place at the Sunset Valley Crematory in Bay City, Michigan. A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Burial of cremains will take place in the Metamora cemetery.

Memorials may be donated to the American Heart Association.

HAROLD RUSSELL TITUS
Harold Russell Titus, 95, of Bradenton, Florida, passed to his eternal home on June 23, 2006. He was born to the late J. Roy and Kathryn (Howard) Titus on August 13, 1910 in Dryden, Michigan.
He graduated from Oxford High School in 1929. After graduating, he sold cars for Al Case Chevy/Pontiac in Oxford, MI. and he owned and operated a Standard Gas Station in Pontiac, MI. In 1940, he joined General Motor Truck and Coach as a Plant Production man and ended his career in 1968. During that time, he was a foreman in the Material Division and Supervisor of Hourly Employment. In 1959, he was promoted to Supervisor of Safety.

He and his wife, Ruth have made their home in Bradenton, Florida for the past 21 years enjoying many activities together. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and a great golfer. He also enjoyed working with his hands making things out of wood. He was a friend to many and loved by all who knew him. He had a strong faith and loved his Lord and his family deeply. Though he has gone to his family in heaven, he will be missed by all that knew and loved him here on earth.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth Titus of Bradenton, Fl. his son, Harold R (Dawn) Titus) of Snover, MI. and Ruth’s children; Jim (Debra) LaLonde of Grand Blanc, MI, Tina (John) Morrissey of Jacksonville, FL., John (Marsha) LaLonde of Hendersonville, NC. and Linda (Jack) Aaron of Riverside, CA.

Grandchildren: Mike (Cheri) Titus, Michele (Fred) Mroczek, Christopher (Gina) Titus, Jennifer (Bob) Lambert, Harold R.F. Titus, Amy (Jeff) Ford and Ruth’s grandchildren Mark LaLonde, Ryan LaLonde, Jennifer (Peter) Trenery, Katie (Mark) Howell, John (Sherri) Morrissey 111, Kathleen (Chad) Gayda, David Morrissey, Kristin Ferguson, MaryBeth (Jeff) Ballard, John (Jennifer) Aaron, Jimmy (Kim) Aaron, Jackie (Craig) Flores, and Dawn’s son, Heath (Amanda) Hughes, 41 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Doris Perry who lives in Burton, Washington and special friends Lee Chapel and Marilyn Titus.

He was preceded in death by a grandson, Matthew Morrissey, a brother, George, and first wife of 50 years, Elaine M. Titus.

Visitation will be at the Sparks/Griffin Funeral Home in Lake Orion on Thursday, June 29, 2006 from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. for friends and family. There will be a Rosary Service at 7:30 p.m. that same evening. The funeral service will be on Friday, June 30, 2006 at the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Lake Orion at 11:00.

Pallbearers are Mike Titus, Christopher Titus, Harold R.F. Titus, Fred Mroczek, Bob Lambert, and Jeff Ford. Honorary pallbearers are Lee Chapel and Jim LaLonde.

In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations for either the Marlette Community Hospital, 2770 Main Street, Marlette, MI, 48453 or Covenant House, P.O. Box JAF 2973, New York, NY, 10116-2973.

JAMES ISLES
James Isles, 84, of Brown City passed away June 8, 2006 in Marlette.
He was born on January 3, 1922 in Peck, Michigan to Albert and Blanche (Griggs) Isles. He served in the Navy during World War 11 on the USS Escambia receiving five bronze stars. He married Earline Ziegler on June 28, 1958.

Co-owner of G & I Dairy with Stan Griggs, he was well known as the milkman. He had also worked at Timken Detroit Axle Co. and after he retired from the dairy business he worked part time for Smith Security. He also farmed for most of his working life.

He is survived by his wife, Earline; two daughters, Linda (Carl) Mahaffy, Marlette and Jeanne (Rick) Brooks, Arlington, Texas; four grandchildren, Sherri Lynn Verbelle, Eric James Brooks, Damon James Williams and Krista Browning; six great grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Helene VanConant; special cousin, Jack (Mary Ann) Hill; nephew Jack “Skip” (Linda) Isles and two nieces, Norma Conn and Janet Freeman.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Jack Isles.

Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, June 13, 2006 at 3:00 p.m. at the Brown City Missionary Church with burial in Elk Township cemetery, Peck.

Memorials may be made to United Hospice of Marlette.

LOUISE I. APPEL
Louise I. Appel, 93, passed Wednesday, June 7, 2006 at William Beaumont Hospital in Troy, Michigan. She had lived in the Juhl area since 1946 and was previously from Detroit.
She was born September 26, 1912 in Detroit, Michigan, daughter of the late Thomas and Elizabeth (Hartman) Aitken.

She married Lester L. Appel on September 2, 1933 in Detroit, Michigan. He preceded her in death on October 6, 1987.

She enjoyed baking, wedding cakes, reading, knitting, crocheting and, most of all, her family.

She is survived by three daughters, Marilyn and Robert Kohnert of Oxford, MI, Paulette and Wesley Williams of Troy, MI and Melinda Johnson of Jacksonville, FL; nine grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Russell; grandchildren, Leslie and Andrew and brother, Paul.

Cremation has taken place at the Sunset Valley Crematory in Bay City, Michigan. A memorial service was conducted on Friday, June 16, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. at the Hope Lutheran Church in Juhl, with Rev. Joyce Johnston officiating.

Memorials may be donated to the Hope Lutheran Church.
