GERALDINE HODGES
Geraldine (Jerri) Hodges, 75 of Deckerville, passed away Sunday, March 26, 2006 in Port Huron Hospital.
She was born on September 15, 1932 in Deckerville, the daughter of the late Melvin and Lucy (Reid) Ross.

She married Henry V. Hodges on November 29, 2092 in Marlette. He preceded her in death on December 10, 2002.

She was a member of the East Marion Baptist Church, the East Marion Ladies Group and TOPS. She enjoyed crocheting and being with her daughters and grandchildren.

She is survived by four daughters, Jane and Paul Arnold of Deckerville, Ms. Joyce Hodges of N.J., Ms. Randa Matyas of Pune, India and Sally and Dwight McKenney of Snover; nine grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Norman and Naomi Ross and Mervin and Nora Ross all of Marlette and Merle and Dorothy Ross of Deckerville; one sister, Margaret and Lester Gerstenberger of Sandusky and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services to celebrate her life were conducted Wednesday, March 29, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. at the Apsey Funeral Home with Rev. David Frost officiating. Interment was in Downing cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association or East Marion Baptist Church.

MAXINE F. VANCONANT
Maxine F. VanConant, 88, a life long resident of Clifford, Michigan, passed away Wednesday, March 29, 2006 at the Marlette Residential Care Home in Marlette, Michigan.
She was born on September 27, 1917 in Clifford, Michigan, daughter to the late Anson and Ethel (Spencer) Wiltse.

She was a 1934 graduate of Clifford High School.

She worked at the Clifford Post Office in Clifford, Michigan for 25 years where she was past postmaster, retiring in June 24, 1983.

She also worked at the Kingston State Bank and helped at the Clifford Public Schools serving hot lunches.

She was a member of the Clifford United Methodist Church, where she was very active and past treasurer. She also was a member of the Clifford Rebecca Lodge 401 where she was former secretary.

She is survived by two daughters, Ernestine and Dan Adamic of North Branch, MI. and Diane and Bill Kunzer of Delavan, WI.; two brothers, Douglas and Maxine Wiltse of Dowagiac, MI. and Ronald and Leona Wiltse (Brother) of Marysville, MI.; four grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Kenneth and Raymond Wiltse and sister, Verneita Chard.

Funeral services were conducted on Monday, April 3, 2006 at 1:00 P.M. at the Marsh Funeral Chapel in Marlette, with Rev. David Pratt and Rev. Richard Brown officiating.

Burial was in the Marlette cemetery in Marlette.

Memorials may be donated to the family.

EMILY E. KIMES
Emily E. Kimes, 96, of Marlette, passed away Saturday, April 01, 2006 at Medilodge of Yale in Yale, Michigan.
She was born on July 14, 1909 in Decator, Illinois, the daughter of the late William and Edna (Hart) Garber.

She moved to Marlette in 1975 from Clawson Michigan.

She married Richard R. Kimes on November 26, 1930 in Royal Oak, MI. He preceded her in death on May 3, 1986.

She was a member of the Marlette First United Methodist Church, Marlette Community Hospital Auxiliary and the Methodist Women’s Club.

She is survived by Diane & William Gamble (daughter) of Croswell, Delores & Emory Haag (daughter) of Marlette, several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Robert and a sister, Eunice Hurd.

Cremation has taken place at the Sunset Valley Crematory in Bay City.

Interment was in the Marlette cemetery.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, April 8, 2006 at 11:00 A.M. at Marsh Funeral Chapel, Marlette with Rev. Daniel Bowman officiating.

Visitation will be held at Marsh Funeral Chapel, Marlette on Saturday from 10 - 11 a.m.

Memorial suggestions to the Marlette Community Hospital, Marlette First United Methodist Church, or Medilodge of Yale.

DAVID R. WELCH
David R. Welch, 61, of Columbus, Michigan passed away Saturday, January 28, 2006 at Mercy Hospital in Port Huron.
He has lived in the Columbus, Michigan area for the past ten years and was previously from Lake Orion.

He was born April 16, 1944 in Detroit, Michigan, son to George and Ardis (Jewett) Welch.

He served his country in the U.S. Marine Corp. for two terms in Vietnam War. Mr. Welch worked as a Tool & Die Maker for Land Technology Co.

He is survived by his mother, Ardis Welch of Clifford, MI.; sister, Elone Welch of Clifford, MI.; brothers, Walter and Elaine Welch of Lake Orion, MI., Glenn and Sally Welch of Clifford, MI. and George and Sue Welch of Clifford, MI.; step-son, Stephen and Anndrea Moore of Novi, MI.; step-daughter, Kimberly and Paul McLain of Lake Orion, MI. and fiancee Carole Gozales of Columbus, MI.

He was preceded in death by his father, George Welch.

Donation of remains has taken place at the University of Michigan Medical School in Ann Arbor.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Memorials may be donated to the Welch family.

BERNICE WIEGERT
Bernice Wiegert, 88, of Marlette, passed away Friday, January 20, 2006 at Marlette Extended Care Facility in Marlette.
She was born on July 31, 1917 in Marlette, Michigan the daughter of the Late Fredrick and Emma (Douglas) Ode.

She married H. Roy Wiegert on June 8, 1931 in Detroit, MI. He died on April 13, 2002.

She was a lifelong area resident, an active member of the Hope Lutheran Church, Juhl, the WELCA, the Farm Bureau, past 4-H deader, and Sunday School teacher. She is survived by a son, Larry & Kristine Wiegert of Marlette; a daughter, Marlene & Russell Kraft of Marlette, Number 1 grandmother to 8 grandchildren: Bonnie & Karl Stempel of Marlette, Bryan and Penny Wiegert of Marlette, Greg and Gina Kraft of Marlette, Becky and Carl Hilborn of Imlay City, Tracy and Kurt Kneen of Lansing, Bart and Shannon Wiegert of Marlette, Brooke and Eric Stafford of North Branch and Blake and Stacy Wiegert of Marlette; 13 great grandchildren, Hans and Amanda Stempel, Krystle and Kate Wiegert, Halla, Madison and Eli Hilborn, Quinton and Relea Kraft, Cameron and Megan Wiegert, Alexandria and Emma Wiegert; three step grandchildren and four step great grandchildren.

Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Bernie; sisters, Carrie and Minnie and a daughter-in-law, Barbara Wiegert.

Funeral services were conducted Monday, January 23, 2006 at 11:00 A.M. at Hope Lutheran Church, Juhl, with Rev. Joyce Johnston officiating.

Burial was in the Marlette cemetery in Marlette.

Casketbearers were Kurt Kneen, Bryan Wiegert, Greg Kraft, Karl Stempel, Carl Hilborn, Bart Wiegert, Blake Wingert and Eric Stafford.

Memorial suggestions to the Hope Lutheran Church, Juhl.

Arrangements by Marsh Funeral Chapel, Marlette.

BILL J. BOWERS
Bill J. Bowers, 62, long time resident of Marlette, passed away Tuesday, January 17, 2006 in Marlette Twp.
He was born February 18, 1943 in Marlette, son to the late Harry and Ida (Snyder) Bowers.

He graduated from Marlette High School in 1961 and attended C.M.U. for two years.

He did carpentry work in the area. He also worked for General Motors and was a former pizza business owner in Marlette.

He is survived by three sons, Adam Bowers of Albany, NY., Allen Bowers of Dover, DE. and Aaron Bowers of Cambridge, MA.; aunt, Alice Snyder of Marlette and cousins, Ed (Jan) Herron of Marlette and Frank (Betty) Herron of Marlette.

Cremation has taken place at the Sunset Valley Crematory in Bay City, Michigan. A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Memorials may be donated to the memorial of your choice.
