FREDERICK S. SORENSEN
Frederick S. Sorensen, 82, of Brown City passed away Friday, February 25, 2000 at his home.
He was born February 17, 1918 in Juhl, Michigan, the son of the late Victor and Marina (Miller) Sorensen. He was a lifelong area resident.
He married
Normaleen Cooper on February 2, 1946 in Juhl.
He was a farmer and milk hauler for many years.
He was a member of the National Farmers Association and the National Rifle Association.
He is survived by his wife, Normaleen; a daughter, Charlene and David Gingell of Brown City; a son, William Sorensen of Brown City; grandsons, Fredric Gingell and Destain Gingelll, both of Brown City; a sister, Gladys Henderson of Sandusky; two brothers, William Mahaffy of Brown City and Irvin Mahaffy of Snover; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Rose and Virginia.
Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, February 29, 2000 at 1:00 p.m. at the Marsh Funeral Chapel, Marlette with Rev. Larry VanSlambrook officiating. Interment was at Marlette cemetery.
Casketbearers included Fredric Gingell, Destain Gingell, Larry Kohler, Donald Martus, Jerry Cooper, Dick Crothers, Larry Ingalsbee and Phillip Cooper.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the organization of the donor's personal choice.
ORVAL KELCH
Orval Kelch, 75, of North Branch, passed away Sunday, February 27, 2000 at the Lapeer Regional Hospital in Lapeer.
He was born on July 14, 1924 in Silverwood, Michigan, the son of the late George and Stella (Robinson) Kelch.
He was a lifelong area resident and served his country in the Army during WWII.
He married
Hazel Bader on August 5, 1950 in Marlette.
He worked for 30 years at Pontiac Motors, retiring in 1979.
Survivors include his wife, Hazel; a brother, Allan Kelch of Silverwood; a sister, Theo Davy of Lapeer; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Clarence, Claude, William, Jess, Glenn, Harold, and Ivan; and a sister, Doris.
Funeral services were conducted Wednesday, March 1, 2000 at 11:00 a.m. at the Marsh Funeral Chapel, Marlette with Rev. Keith Mead officiating. Interment was in the Rich Township cemetery in Mayville.
Casketbearers included Ronald Bowers, Dick Miles, Wayne Gilbert, Bill Davy, Michael Bower, and Andy Tallieu.
Memorials may be given to the American Diabetes Association, or the American Heart Association.
NELLIE EVELYN (INGALLS) BORDINE
Nellie Evelyn (Ingalls) Bordine passed to her eternal home on February 25, 2000 at the Laurels of Mt. Pleasant.
She was born on July 2, 1902 to Elmer and Josephine (Peterson) Ingalls on the family farm near Charlevoix, Michigan.
Kenneth Bordine was superintendent of schools in Marlette from 1933 to 1943.
She leaves her two daughters, Lyndell Gibbs and Virginia (Ray) Kohr; seven grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted Monday, February 28, 2000 at the First Presbyterian Church in Mt. Pleasant with Rev. Stephen Shugert officiating. Interment was at Maple Grove cemetery, Dundee, Michigan with Rev. David and Rev. Gretchen Seidler Gibbs presiding.

ILA MARIE CAPERTON
Ila Marie Caperton, 54, of Decker, passed away Wednesday, October 27, 1999 at Covenant Medical Center-Copper in Saginaw, Michigan.
She was born on March 10, 1945 in Detroit, Michigan, the daughter of the late John and Doris (Carroll) Kalamick.
She married
Raymond Caperton on July 1, 1961 in Detroit.
She moved to the Decker area seven and one-half years ago from Detroit.
She is survived her her husband, Raymond, two sons, David and Catherine Caperton of Roseville and Donald (and fiancee Regina) Caperton of Bad Axe; a daughter, Sherry and Patrick Delacourt, Bad Axe; two brothers, Timothy Kalamick, Westland and Kenneth Kalamick of Detroit; two sisters, Elsie McAnally of Westland and Margo Blunt of Bay City; and three grandchildren, Natalie, Danielle and Shawn.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles and Richard; and one sister, Kathleen.
Funeral services were conducted Saturday, October 30, 1999 at 11:00 a.m. at the Marsh Funeral Chapel, Marlette with Rev. Kenneth Parker officiating.
Cremation followed the service at the Sunset Valley Crematory in Bay City.
Memorials may be given to the donor's choice.
RICHARD LEE VANDAMME
Richard Lee VanDamme, 48, of Marlette, died Monday, September 27, 1999, at Lapeer Regional Hospital in Lapeer, Michigan.
He was born November 15, 1950 in Brown City, Michigan the son of Victor and Dolores (Lahman) VanDamme.
He was a lifelong area resident, a 1968 graduate of Marlette High School.
He was a past employee of Explorer Motors Homes, Brown City, and Lear Corp., Marlette.
He is survived by his mother, Dolores VanDamme of Marlette, brother: Roger VanDamme of Peck, sister: Dianne and Dan Wiley of Marlette, niece: DeLisa Heltsley, nephew: Cory Hurley.
He was preceded in death by his father, Victor VanDamme.
Visitation was held at the Marsh Funeral Chapel, Marlette on Tuesday from 5-9 and on Wednesday from 1-9 p.m.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, Sept. 30, 1999 at 11:00 am at Marsh Funeral Chapel, Marlette with Rev. Kenneth Parker officiating.
Burial was held at Evergreen cemetery in Brown City.
Pallbearers were: Tom Ostrum, Sam Wilcox, Gary Parrino, Ward VanDamme, Steve Arnold, and Paul Lefler.
SKYLAR AUTUMN STEWART
Skylar Autumn Stewart, baby, passed away Wednesday, September 15, 1999 at the Marlette Community Hospital.
She was born on March 2, 1999 in Marlette, the daughter of Terry and Tina (McIntyre) Stewart.
She is survived by her parents, Terry and Tina Stewart of Marlette, a brother, Cody of Marlette; a sister, Samantha of Marlette, grandmother, Lucille Pederson of Marlette; grandfather, David McIntyre of Mayville; grandparents, Sandra and Allan Sawyers of Kalamazoo, Michigan; great-grandparents, Arthur and Betty Pederson of Vassar, Michigan and Leonard and Gladys Kasiorek of Portage, Michigan; and several aunts and uncles.
Funeral services were conducted Saturday, September 18, 1999 at 1:00 p.m. at the Marsh Funeral Chapel, Marlette with Pastor Tim Perrin officiating. Interment was in Marlette cemetery.
Memorials may be given to the Allison Cagle Purple Technology Fund.
Marion Magdelen Thompson
Marion Magdelen Thompson, 93, passed away Wednesday, August 18, 1999 at her home.
She was born on September 6, 1905 in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
She is survived by two sons, Robert (MaryLou) Thompson and David B. (Barbara) Thompson; two daughters, Sylvia R. (Clifford) Martin and Dory (Dennis) Lamont; a sister, Rosalyn Michaels; 17 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Marilyn J. Thompson.
Funeral services were conducted Saturday, August 21, 1999 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Clare of Assisi Church in Farmington Hills, Michigan with Father Fred Klettner officiating. Burial was at the Holy Sepulchre cemetery in Southfield, Michigan.
A Rosary service was conducted on Friday.

Alice LaRue Smith
Alice LaRue Smith, 74, of Marlette died Saturday, August 21, 1999 at Marlette Community Hospital in Marlette, Michigan.
She was born January 26, 1925, in Greenville, Tennessee the daughter of the late William and Ethel (Smith) Willis.
She graduated from Greenville High School, in Greenville, Tennessee.
Alice married
Cecil C. Smith in 1947 in Greenville, Tennessee.
She moved to Marlette eight years ago from Hazel Park, Michigan.
She is survived by her husband Cecil, two daughters: Andra Hamlin of Tennessee, and Sharon Capozzo of Marlette; three sisters: Wahnell Ottinger of Tennessee, Joyce Collins and Hilda Lawing both of Allen Park; four grandchildren: Shawn, Debra, Lisa, Jeff; four great grandchildren.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters Lucille Malone and Inez Ralston.
Funeral services were held Monday, August 23, 1999 at 2:00 p.m. at the Marsh Funeral Chapel in Marlette with Rev. Mark Nieman officiating. Interment at the Marlette cemetery.
