Frederick Ray Heileman, age 65, of Byron Center, went to be with his Lord on Friday, February 2, 2018. Fred enjoyed skiing and camping with his son. He was preceded in death by his father, Fred. Surviving are his son, Nathan; mother, Marilyn Heileman; brothers, Ken A. Heileman, Michael (Debra) Heileman, Roger Heileman; nieces and nephews. The family will greet visitors on Monday, February 5, from 10 - 11 am at Stroo Funeral Home, where the service will begin at 11 am. Interment in Alaska Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Moline Christian Reformed Church.

SLOPSEMA (NOORDYKE) - Joan Faye, age 89, of Byron Center, went to be with her Lord on Sunday, February 4, 2018, with her family by her side. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Minnie Pastoor; Bob Noordyke; brother, Robert Pastoor; brothers-in-law, Jim Gerritsen, Homer Noordyke; grandson and granddaughter, Matthew and Angela Zalewski. Joan will be lovingly remembered by her husband, George Slopsema; children, Ruth (Joe) Zalewski, Sue (Butch) VandenBerg, Cindy Alofs; 11 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; step-children, Rev. Jim (Joan) Slopsema, Bob (Judy) Slopsema, Karen Slopsema, Tom (Paula) Slopsema; 29 step-grandchildren; 40 step-great grandchildren, one step great-great grandchild; sister, Mary Gerritsen; in-laws, Marilyn (Bern) Poelman, Millie Noordyke, and Evie Pastoor. The family will greet visitors on Wednesday from 6 - 8 pm at Stroo Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm Thursday, February 8, at First Protestant Reformed Church, 2800 Michigan St. NE, with an hour of visitation prior to the service. Rev. James Slopsema will officiate. Interment will be in Rest Lawn Memorial Park. Contributions in Joan's memory may be made to Eastside Christian School or Kindred Hospice.

Helen J. Gipe, age 80, of Caledonia, went to be with her Lord on Monday, February 5, 2018, with her family by her side. Her husband, Alvin Dale Gipe; son, Kevin; daughter-in-law, Paula; parents; and three of her brothers, preceded her in death. Helen will be lovingly remembered by her children, Jaime Gipe, Brenda Lemons (Chris Bursley), Paul (Karen) Gipe, Angela (Rick) VanMalsen, Scott (Shauna) Gipe, Robb (Jackie "Tootie") Gipe; grandchildren, Renardo (JiYeon), Trisha (Darin), Kevin, Jacob (Kelsey), Lyndie, Josh (Ronie), Cassidy, Tucker, Tanner, Trinity; one great grandchild on the way; brothers and sisters, Lester (Maxine) Myers, Anna (Bill) Haffner, David (Sue) Walker, Marie (Tom) Webster; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Dean (Sharon) Gipe, Kathy (Tom) Basham, Lorraine (Bob) Clough, Shirley Walker, Carla Walker, Connie (Fred) Riplo; her dog, Buttons; several nieces and nephews. The family will greet visitors on Thursday from 1 - 3 and 6 - 8 pm at Stroo Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 am on Friday, February 9, at Holy Family Catholic Church, 9669 Kraft SE, Caledonia, with Fr. Loc Trinh as celebrant. Interment in Resurrection Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

Marian M. (Peterson) MacNicol
Service: Held at a later date
Marian M. (Peterson) MacNicol, age 76, of Caledonia, passed away on Monday, February 5, 2018 following a hard fought 28 year struggle with Parkinson's Disease. She was a school teacher and retired from Kelloggsville Christian School after 26 years of service. Marian will be deeply missed by her husband, Hugh; her children, Vince (Luanne) MacNicol, Wendy (Steve) Franken; grandchildren, Jordan MacNicol, Clifton (Samantha) Hoogterp, Ethan (Jordan) Hoogterp, Blake Hoogterp; and her great grandchildren; sister, Anna (Chuck) Rhodea; brother-in-law, Dale Greal; several nieces and nephews. Marian was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Aubrey Hoogterp, and her sister, Nancy Greal. Honoring Marian's request, her body has been donated to Michigan State University. A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Benjamin Hankamp, age 98, of Kentwood, went to be with his Lord, on Wednesday, February 7, 2018. Ben proudly served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He was preceded in death by his son, Steve; sons-in-law, Gary Fisher, Ronald VandenBerg; daughter-in-law, Joann Hankamp; two brothers and his sister. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 75 years, Ann; his children, Bob Hankamp, Sandra (Kevin) Mooi, Linda Fisher; daughter-in-law, Annie Hankamp; ten grandchildren; many great grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Wilma and Glady; many nieces and nephews. The family will greet visitors on Friday, February 9, from 12 to 1 pm at Stroo Funeral Home, where the service will begin at 1 pm. Interment in Grandville Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Faith Hospice.

Chari Lee Cooper, born December 31, 1950, of Wyoming, is now living out her dreams in paradise when Jesus took her home on Sunday, January 21, 2018. Chari was Wyoming High School's Homecoming Queen in 1969 and Wyoming Rodeo Queen in 1970. She is preceded in death by her mom, Bertae L. Clausen; brother, Darral A. Clausen; sister-in-law, Lynda Clausen; step-mom, Jenevieve Clausen; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Russel J. and Hariet Cooper. Chari will be deeply missed by her husband, Russel D. "Denny" Cooper; her father, Alan J. Clausen; brothers, Randy B. Clausen, Jon O. Clausen; her nieces, Corina Reminga, Heaven, Shaniah, and Lydia Clausen, and Kate Avink; nephews, Kevin and Trevor Clausen; great nieces, Whitley Reminga, Kenna and Ashlyn Avink; great nephew, Zach Reminga; her step-mother-in-law, Shirley Cooper; brothers-in-law, David Cooper, Joel Cooper; sister-in-law, Bonnie Cooper; nieces and nephews, Ben, Russel, Angela, Brandi, Ariel, Summer, and Hollie; her GM family and friends.
