Nellie Marie (Bloem) Clark, age 83, of Kentwood, Michigan, entered into glory on Tuesday, October 17, 2017. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Clark; her parents, John and Henderiena Bloem; a brother, Peter Bloem; and son-in-law, Shaun Tanis. Surviving are her children, Allen Clark, Susan Tanis, and David (Amy) Clark; her grand-children, Katie and Ryan Clark; Kenneth (Beckie) Tanis, Bethany, Olivia, Christin, Alison, and John Tanis; Rachel and Nathan Clark; as well as a great-granddaughter, Samantha Tanis; her dear brothers and sisters, Dirk (Julie) Bloem, Bert Bloem, Paul (Ohnalee) Bloem, James Bloem, George (Martha) Bloem, Ruth Houtman, David (Lois) Bloem, Irena (John) Girschle, Anna Bloem; sister-in-law, Jean Clark; and many treasured nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends may meet with the family on Friday, October 20, from 5 - 8 pm at Stroo Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 11 am Saturday, October 21, at Stroo Funeral Home, with Rev. John Lowder officiating. Interment in Blain Cemetery, Cutlerville, Michigan. Memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army.

Anne Lucille (Wielenga) Brower, age 84, of Allendale, left her earthly home and joined the heavenly choir on Thursday, October 19, 2017. Anne worked as an L.P.N. for 20 years. Her husband, Merle; and daughter-in-law, Mary Jo Brower, preceded her in death. Anne will be lovingly remembered by her sons, Marlin (Lori) Brower, Wesley (Barb) Brower, Keith (Melissa) Brower, Wally Brower, Vincent (Nicole) Brower; her grandchildren, Mark (Trisha) Brower, Andie (Mike) Ruszkowski, David Postma, Matt (Becky) Postma, Chase Sutter, Brandy Brower, Cord Sutter, Christian Brower, Jessica Brower, Charlie Brower; two great grandchildren, Clare Postma, Scotty Ruszkowski; sisters, Chris Wielenga, Geraldine Alderink; sister-in-law, Arline Wielenga; brothers-in-law, Wayne (Donna) Brower, Jerry (Jean) Brower, and Paul (Sheryl) Brower. The family will greet visitors on Monday, October 30 from 4-6:30PM at Georgetown Christian Reformed Church, 6475 40th Ave. Hudsonville, MI, where the Memorial Service will begin at 7:00PM. Rev. Rod Thole will officiate. Mom's favorite deserts, pie and cake, will be served after the Memorial Service. A private family inurnment will be done at Floral View Cemetery. The family wants to give our heartfelt thanks to "God's Angels" from Allendale Nursing Home and Spectrum Hospice. They all excelled at showing mom God's caring love and compassion prior to her passing on to Heaven. Memorial contributions may be made to Spectrum Health Hospice or Lamont Community Church, 14000 48th Ave., Coopersville, MI 49404.

Adam John Forbes

Adam John Forbes, age 35, of Grand Rapids, formerly of St. Johns, passed away unexpectedly on October 26, 2017, and is now at peace. Adam joined the U.S. Coast Guard in 2003 and served in Afghanistan from 2011 - 2012. He enjoyed running, playing cornhole, riding his motorcycle, and spending time with his family, friends, and neighbors. Adam graduated from Grand Valley State University, and recently returned to continue his studies. He was a member of the Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity. He will be dearly missed by his wife of nine years, Holly; his daughter, Chelsea; parents, Debra and Larry Forbes; brother, Scott Forbes; grandmother, Katherine Feneis; special Aunt Susu and Unc Den; parents-in-law, Paul and Carol Markham; brother-in-law, Josh Markham; Holly's grandmothers, Judy Curtiss and Ellen Markham. Visitation will be held on Monday, October 30, from 5 - 8 pm at Stroo Funeral Home, where the funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 31, at 11 am, with Rev. Dr. Robert Hundley officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Adam's family for Chelsea's college education fund.

Alice Francis Schepers, age 57, of Cutlerville, was called to her heavenly home on Sunday, October 22, 2017. She was a joy to all who knew her and will be missed dearly. She loved her children and grandchildren with her whole heart and we celebrate that her joy is now complete with Christ. Her parents, Pieter and Roelfina DeKievit, preceded her in death. Alice will be lovingly remembered by her children, Jeff and Jill Schepers, Rick and Marlo Schepers, her grandchildren, Ava, Emmet, Nicholas, Sam, Charlie, Thomas, and Max, her brothers and sisters, Neil and Dawn DeKievit, Tony and Tina DeKievit, Aline and Dave Koiter, John and Mary DeKievit; and many nieces and nephews. Darwin "Dar" VanderArk, age 71, of Moline, went to be with Jesus on Saturday, October 21, 2017. Darwin served in the US Army during the Vietnam War. He was a dedicated servant of the Lord; loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was a salesman, Leighton Township Supervisor, business consultant, and director of M.D.A.C. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 50 years, Sandy; daughters, Sally (Jim) Williams, Laurie (Tim) Brown, Amy (Kevin) Dykema, Beckie (Justin) Belliel; grandchildren, Elizabeth, Hunter, and Collin Brown, Hannah, Colton, Connor, and Cayden Dykema, Haylie Krutel, Emma Belliel; sister, Karen VanderArk and Gordon Schneider; brother, Marvin (Janet) VanderArk; sister-in-law, Lois Smith; and many nieces and nephews. His parents, Everett and Christine VanderArk; step-mom, Margaret VanderArk; brother and sister-in-law, Lester and Evelyn VanderArk; father and mother-in-law, Gordon and Ruth Martin; and brother-in-law, Daniel Smith; preceded him in death. Jeffery Scott "Scooter" Fleeman, age 36, of Ludington, formerly of Wyoming, passed away on October 27, 2017. He was preceded in death by his brother, Jack "JJ" Fleeman. Surviving are his children, Kaijah Fleeman and Anthony Kellogg; his mother and step-father, Lacy (Fleeman) and Jerry Little; his brothers and sister, Matthew Sommer, John Dulyea III, Misty Dulyea; many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 31, from 1 - 4 pm at Stroo Funeral Home, where the funeral service will begin at 4 pm Tuesday. Memorial contributions may be made to the funeral home to assist the family with expenses.

Lucio Sabas Farías, was born on Wednesday, August 24, 1938 in Las Cuevas, Argentina, and passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, at his son’s home on Thursday, October 26, 2017 in Caledonia, Michigan, United States.
Lucio was a Grand Master in Martial Arts with a 10th Dan (highest degree achievable in most Martial Arts). In his 61 years of experience, he eagerly and passionately taught Martial Arts to thousands of students of all ages and levels around the world.
Lucio was also a talented Landscape Architect. His love for nature and plants will be forever treasured in the legacy of beautiful gardens, waterfalls, ponds and landscapes that he created, and the trees and flowers he planted throughout South America and the United States. He loved nature, and loved sharing his knowledge of scientific names of many plants and trees.
The one thing Lucio loved and cared above all was his family.
He saw many countries, he spoke several languages, he was an avid reader, constantly learning and loved to cook. He belonged to different martial arts associations and got countless awards and recognitions in his career. He lived a great life that spanned almost eight decades and that will go on through his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife Gisela; his children: Lucio, Federico, Diego, Pablo, and Gisel; his grandchildren: Ivo, Michelle, Andrea, Andrés, Hendrick, Alessandra, Alan, Ian, and Fiona; his daughters in law: Maria, Martha, and Erin, his son in-law Jairo; his sister, Cristina; and by his many friends, and thousands of students around the world.
Visitation will be held on Friday, November 3, from 5 to 8 PM at Stroo Funeral Home, where the funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 4, at 11 AM.

Josie Gratz, age 91, formerly of Grand Rapids, went to her heavenly home on Thursday, October 26, 2017. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank; her parents, Hippoliet and Helen Bosman; and sister, Gabriella Rewa. Josie will be lovingly remembered by her daughters, Kathy (Mark Brant) Kamp, Lori (Mark) Weyers; grandchildren, Kristen (Jim) Orr, Stacy (Justin) Richardson, Brandon Weyers, Cody (Cassi) Weyers, Adam Weyers; great grandchildren, Maile Orr, Taylor Richardson, Keegan Richardson, Roxanne Weyers; many nieces, nephews, and cousins. The family wishes to express their appreciation to Cameo House for their loving care of Josie. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 am Saturday, November 4, at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church, 1253 - 52nd St. SE, with Fr. Peter Vu as celebrant. Interment in Resurrection Cemetery. The family will greet visitors on Friday from 4 - 7 pm with a Rosary recited at 6:30 pm at Stroo Funeral Home, and Saturday one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of West Michigan.
