Ronald H. Hibma, aged 68, of Byron Center, passed away on Sunday, March 6, 2016. Ron, a part of the graduating class of 1965 at Wayland Union High, served four years in the U.S. Army and 26 with the U.S. State Department in Washington, DC. He will be lovingly remembered by his brothers and sister, Ken (Allegra) Hibma, Mary (Gene) Mutschler, Charles Hibma, several nieces, nephews, cousins; and special neighbor, Mellisa Donovan. In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place and burial will be held on Monday, June 27, 2016 in Winchester Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Ron can be made to a charity of your choice.

Brandon Lee Cance

Brandon Lee Cance, aka, Brando, Baby C; age 29, went to be with his Maker after years of struggling with Bipolar and addictions on Tuesday, March 1, 2016 in the early morning. Brandon was born January 13, 1987 in Grand Rapids, MI to Michael T. and Karmen S. Cance. He resided with his parents in Caledonia, MI, but was visiting a lady friend in Flint, where he was found deceased. Brandon lived most of his life in Caledonia, but had moved with his parents to Grandville in 2003, where he graduated from Grandville High School in 2005. After high school, Brandon attended Ferris State University, and GRCC. He was a very caring, loving, giving, talented son, brother, grandson, nephew, and uncle. He had so many dreams and passions, and his passion for life burned brightly. He cherished and loved his family especially family gatherings and playing with his nephews and nieces. Brandon was an amazing, talented athlete, and so strong for his size. He enjoyed all sorts of sports with his main passion in wrestling. He started wrestling at the age of six years and continued throughout his high school years, winning many matches, earning all sorts of awards and medals. He was a four time all conference winner, with two years in Caledonia and two years in Grandville and attended several State Tournaments. Along with wrestling, Brandon played football for eight years, starting in the third grade. He loved to involve himself with all sorts of sports and was very active. Brandon worked various jobs, with his main occupation being a mover. He loved pranking people, which could sometimes lead to trouble. He was a very kind, considerate, giving, passionate, loving man, always taking care of his brother, Michael, who suffers with a brittle bone disease. Brandon will be missed by so many, especially his family. We are trying to take comfort that he is with his Maker, happy, fun loving, and not struggling anymore. He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Stuart Hester, Marvin Cance; grandmother, Barb Cance; uncle, Keith Hester and lifelong friend Kasey Higley. Brandon is survived by his parents, Mike and Karmen Cance; sisters, Lisa (Tyrone) Norman, Heather (David) Liddell, Darcy (Jeff) Schlotterbeck; brothers, Michael Cance and Jason Cance; nephews, Mikkel, Javon Tyrone, Norman and Caden Schlotterbeck; nieces, Miya Cance and Khloie Liddell; grandmother, Barbara (Ken) Patton, several aunts, uncles and cousins. Memorial contributions may be made to Lake Michigan Credit Union Brandon Cance Memorial Fund.

Grace Alice Clausen, age 87, of Grand Rapids, went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, June 20, 2017. Grace graduated from Lee High School. Her husband, Robert Clausen; mother, Helen Schmitt; and sister-in-law, Berta Clausen, preceded her in death. She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Kenneth Clausen, Thomas (Barb) Clausen, Kathleen (Willie) Ostrander, Terry Clausen; nine grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; and brother-in-law, Alan Clausen. Visitation will be held Saturday, June 24, from 12 noon - 1 pm at Stroo Funeral Home, with the service following at 1 pm. Rev. Powers Payton will officiate. Interment in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Contributions in memory of Grace may be made to Emmanuel Hospice.

ROZENBOOM, REV. GYSBERT
GRAND RAPIDS, MICHIGAN
Rev. Gysbert J. Rozenboom, age 101, went to be with his Lord on Sunday, April 2, 2017. Rev. Rozenboom faithfully pastored eight Christian Reformed congregations throughout the Midwest. His ministry centered around "Christ and Christ Crucified". He was preceded in death by his wife, Ada; sons-in-law, Arnie Bordewyk and Jun Flier; and ten siblings. He will be lovingly remembered by his children, Lois Bordewyk, Al and Jan Rozenboom, Pat Flier, Nadine and Ron Stuursma; 13 grandchildren; 34 great grandchildren; 12 great-great grandchildren; brother, Gerald and Clarissa Rozenboom; many nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held 11 am Tuesday, April 11, at Princeton Christian Reformed Church, 5330 Kalamazoo Ave. SE, with Rev. Evan Heerema officiating. Rev. Rozenboom will be laid to rest in Kent Memorial Gardens. The family will greet relatives and friends on Monday from 5 - 8 pm at the funeral home, and Tuesday from 10 - 10:45 am prior to the service at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Rozenboom Family Scholarship at Calvin Theological Seminary in Grand Rapids, MI.

The Lord called his child, Robert G. "Bob" Veldman, age 90, into his presence on Monday, April 10, 2017. Bob proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. He owned and operated Veldman Printery. He was active in serving the body of Christ, his family, and friends. Bob will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 68 years, Bernice; children, Robert (Karen) Veldman, Jr., Jan Roukas, Laurel (Doug) Tepper; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and brother-in-law, Jack Essenberg. His son-in-law, Rev. Petros Roukas, preceded him in death. Visitation will be held Saturday, April 15, from 1 - 3 pm at Stroo Funeral Home, where the funeral service will begin at 3 pm. Rev. Aaron Greydanus, and Rev. Nancy Boote will officiate. Interment in Rest Lawn Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to Alpha Prison Ministries or the Sunset Manor Benevolent Fund.

David E. Fischer, age 87, of Kentwood, peacefully went to be with his Lord on Thursday, March 30, 2017. David proudly served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He is survived by his loving and faithful wife of 60 years, Joyce; his son and best friend, John (Kelly) Fischer; his much loved grandchildren, Adam (Lindsay) Fischer, Kari Fischer; his little buddy who brought such great joy to his life, great grandson, Treyson John; brothers-in-law, Jerry (Carol) Velthouse, Roger (Sandy) Velthouse; many nieces and nephews. The family will greet visitors on Thursday from 6 - 8 pm and Friday prior to the service form 10 - 11 am at Stroo Funeral Home, where the funeral service will be held on Friday, April 7, at 11 am, with Pastor Martin Benckhuysen officiating. Interment in Pine Hill Cemetery. Donations in memory of David may be made to Great Lakes Caring Hospice or the charity of ones choice.

Betty Ann Vredeveld, age 64, of Holland, went to be with her Lord on Sunday, March 26, 2017. Betty retired from Bristol-Myers Squibb after many years of service as a lab technician. She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter and son-in-law, Kimberly and Bob VerBurg; her former husband, Gary Vredeveld, and his wife, Deb; and many friends, including a special friend, Richard Van Maurick.
