Adrian VanSledright, age 92, of Caledonia, entered his heavenly home on Wednesday, February 18, 2015. Adrian proudly served in the U.S. Army Air Force during WWII and the Korean War. Preceding him in death are his brothers, Peter, Elmer, and Richard VanSledright; and a sister-in-law, Shirley. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Florence Mitchell; brothers, Raymond (Lorraine), Henry VanSledright; sister, Martha VanSledright; sisters-in-law, Ardith and Ruth VanSledright; 14 nieces and nephews; Flo's children and grandchildren; Karen & Burke Aubrey (Kevin, Chris, Caroline); Troy & Judy Mitchell (Amber, Denae, Blake); Flo's sisters and brothers, Hilda Crabtree, Alice (Theo Verbeek, Ann (Mart) Deling, Charles (BEv) Tolsma, Bill (Debra) Tolsma. The family would like to extend special appreciation to hospice aid worker, Marie Bieber, for her loving care of Ade. The funeral service will be held 10:30 am Tuesday, February 24, at East Paris Christian Reformed Church, 3065 East Paris Ave. SE, with Pastor Carolyn Cammenga and Pastor James Kralt officiating. Interment in Ft. Custer National Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to East Paris CRC or Spectrum Health Hospice.

HAIGHT - Evelyn I. Haight, aged 92 of Wyoming, went to be with her Lord on Sunday, February 22, 2015. Her husband, Lawrence and sister, Betty Oliver preceded her in death. She had a strong Faith in Jesus and loved to volunteer through her church. Surviving are her children, Janet (Jim) McCormick, Bruce (Helen) Haight, Gary Haight and friend, Kim Peck, Wendel (Valerie) Haight; grandchildren, Derrick (Kelly) Haight, Jerrod Haight, Jamieson (Jeremy) Shultz, Melissa (Jeremy) Emmorey, Amanda Peck; great grandchildren, Emma, Hudson, Jase, Tyler, Cody, Makayla, Brianna; her brother, Alton (Rita) Rackett; several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 am Thursday, February 26, 2015 at Grand Rapids First, 2100 44th Street, SW. Interment in Blain Cemetery. Contributions in memory of Evelyn may be made to Grand Rapids First or the Grand Rapids Home for Veterans. The family will receive visitors on Wednesday 6-8 pm at the funeral home and on Thursday from 10-11 am at the church.

George John Koster

George John Koster, age 84, of Kentwood, went home to be with his Lord on Monday, February 16, 2015. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gerrit and Nellie (VanderMaas) Koster; his sister, Rose Vander Bok; a granddaughter, and a great granddaughter. He is survived by his loving wife, Ruth (Kruithof) Koster; children, Glenn and Charlcie Koster, in Kansas, Nancee and Norman Herwerden, in Ohio, and Gary and Lorrie Koster, in Kalamazoo; nine grandchildren, and five great grandchildren. He is also survived by nephews, Arnold (Jan) Vander Bok, Raymond (Carleen) Vander Bok, and niece, Shirley (Robert) Wassenaar; his in-laws, Jim and Elois Heuker, Jim and Donna Kruithof, Harvey and Karen Kruithof; close cousin, Ethel Mulder, and many other cousins and friends. George was a graduate of Grand Rapids Christian High. He was a combat veteran of the Korean War, serving in the Army. Over the years, George served as an Elder and Deacon in the Christian Reformed Church and also served on the Mission Committee. He was a member of the Singing Crusaders Men’s Chorus when he lived in Kalamazoo. Before retirement, he served as the Chaplain at the Kent County Jail for 15 years with Forgotten Man Ministries, and was also involved with the counseling ministry. He preached and was a speaker in many churches in the Grand Rapids area. He enjoyed many sports, traveled a lot, and enjoyed meeting people. The funeral service will be held on 2:00 pm Friday, February 20, at Beckwith Hills CRC, 2100 Chelsea Drive NE, with Pastor Rick Pinckney officiating. Entombment in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be given to Forgotten Man Ministries, or to the Beckwith Hills CRC Mission Fund. Visitation will be on Thursday from 3 - 7 pm at Stroo Funeral Home, and Friday one hour prior to the service at the church.

Hubert Grant Foster, age 93, of Cutlerville, went to be with his Lord on Wednesday, February 18, 2015. Hubert attended Armored Replacement School in Fort Knox, Kentucky, and successfully completed the Prescribed Course of Training for Armored and Artillery Mechanic. This meant he was one of a few men allowed to work on the armored guns of the U.S. tanks during WWII. He worked as a carpenter for a few years before working for Steelcase, retiring after 36 years of service. He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Pearl; daughters, P. Lorreen Foster-Owens, Faith Foster-Delaat; three brothers and two sisters. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 14 years, Pauline; his children, Mary Jean Zeeff, Brian (Gail) Foster, Gary (Marilyn) Foster; Pauline's children, Sharon (Richard) Panozzo, Larry (Deb) Decker, Kathy (Mike) Evans, Bradley (Tami) Decker, Mark (Jill) Decker, Lori Decker, Kimber (Kathy) Decker; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren; brother, Richard Foster; several nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held 11 am Saturday, February 28, at New Hope Free Methodist Church, 5665 Eastern Ave. SE, with Rev. Kimber Decker officiating. Interment in Rosedale Memorial Park. Contributions in memory of Hubert may be made to New Hope Free Methodist Church. The family will greet visitors on Saturday prior to the service from 10 - 11 am at the church.

JACKSON - Mary Sue Jackson, aged 74, of Caledonia, a loving wife and mother, went to be with her Lord on Friday, February 20, 2015 after a brain aneurism. Mary Sue was everyone's favorite; and was very active in her community and at Holy Family Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by her son, Patrick "Daniel" Jackson; and brother, Mike Bohlinger. Surviving are her husband and soul mate of 53 years, Wayne; children, Felicia (Keith) Steenwyk, Thomas Jackson; daughters-in-law, Adina Jackson, Mary Jackson; grandchildren, Cheri Jackson, Patrick Jackson, Jackson Steenwyk, Remington Steenwyk, Monquie Jackson, Danielle Jackson; sisters and brothers, Sharon Neubecker, Jackie Bashaw, Charles "Skip" (Joanie) Bohlinger, Jane (George) Miller; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Bill (Jan) Jackson; and several nieces and nephews. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 2:00 pm Tuesday, February 24, 2015 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 9669 Kraft Ave., SE. Interment in St. Patrick Cemetery. Carolyn Grace Postma, age 68, of Cutlerville, entered into the arms of Jesus on Thursday, February 19, 2015. Carolyn's sweet soul is free at last. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Marie Postma. She will be lovingly remembered by her brothers and sisters, Larry (Carole) Postma, Kathleen (Bob) Miller, David (Pam) Postma, Donald (Julie) Postma; several nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held 4 pm Saturday, February 21, at Stroo Funeral Home, with her nephew, Rev. Marc Miller and Rev. Merle Buwalda officiating. Interment in North Rudyard Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Pine Rest Patient Assistance Fund.

Lorraine Duggins, age 88, of Grand Rapids, passed away on Thursday evening, February 12, 2015. She was born March 14, 1926 to Everette and Fannie Duggins in Short Creek, Kentucky. Lorraine was preceded in death by her sister, Zelma and Arland Lucas; and a brother, Russell and Wanda Duggins. Thank you to all the wonderful caregivers, and special friend, Rose, at Metron of Forest Hills. You made Lorraine feel like family and gave her a place where she felt loved and cared for. You were truly a blessing in her life. There will be a Committal service 11 am Tuesday, February 17, at Rosedale Memorial Park, 0-50 Lake Michigan Dr., Standale, with Rev. Evan Heererma officiating. Contributions in her memory may be made to the American Heart Association.

Nancy L. McCarty

Nancy L. McCarty, aged 57, of Byron Center, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, January 21, 2015. Nancy worked at Spartan Nash for the past 14 years. She loved making cards for every type of occasion. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul; son, Bradley; father, Bernard Kuiphof; and in-laws, Paul and Margaret McCarty. She will be deeply missed by her son, Eric McCarty; granddaughter, Addison McCarty; mother, Vernice Kuiphof; brother, Gordon Kuiphof; sister, Cindy Kuiphof; special niece, Nicole Kuiphof; special aunt and uncle, Vicki (Peterson) and Michael Smith; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. The funeral service will be held 1 pm Monday, January 26, at Stroo Funeral Home, with Mr. Scott Daniels officiating. Interment in Irving Township Cemetery.
