Beverly (DeFouw) Smith, 32, and her unborn daughter, Grace, of Middleville, entered into Heaven on Saturday, February 14, 2015 as a result of a tragic auto accident. Our memories of a sweet, vibrant, energetic, positive child of God will live on forever. Bev's zest for life, her adventurous spirit and her devotion for her husband Eric, her daughter, Claire, and her son, Sam, was clear to all who knew her. She lived a life that displayed the "Fruit of the Spirt", love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control, a pathway of her choosing and an example for all who knew and loved her. Eric and Bev were so looking forward to the birth of their baby girl. We take great comfort in knowing that Bev and their precious daughter are now seeing Jesus face to face. Bev was a graduate of Thornapple Kellogg High School and Michigan Tech University. Bev is also survived by her parents, Greg and Marilyn DeFouw; her brother, Paul and Jill DeFouw; her grandmother, Alice Meyer; her in-laws, Bud and Patti Smith, Allison and Brian Brink and their children, Maddie, Jackie, Jonathan and Mia, Courtney and Ben Brinks, and son, Jude, Taylor and Justin Meints and children Anna and Jack; many aunts, uncles and cousins, and many friends as close as family and a community that loved her. "The Lord is close to the broken hearted, and saves those who are crushed in spirit" Psalm 34:18. Services will be held 11 am Friday, February 20, at Ada Bible - Cascade Campus, 8899 Cascade Road SE, with Pastor Ben Vaught officiating. Interment in Blain Cemetery. Memorial donations can be made to the 'The Beverly Smith Legacy Fund' at Hastings City Bank.
