Mark E. Workman, age 50, of Washington, D.C., formerly of Grand Rapids, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, January 28, 2015, and is now in the arms of Jesus. He will be deeply missed by his parents, Robert E. and Irene (Faber) Workman; brother, Robert, Jr. and Kim Workman; sisters, Patricia Workman, Brenda and Paul Gorham, Beverly Stout; nephews and nieces, Tim and Heidi Workman, Todd and Aimee Workman, Kyle and Elizabeth Workman, Christopher Workman, Dan and Erin Gorham, David and Veronica Gorham; nine great nephews and nieces; several aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends. The funeral service will be held 11 am Wednesday, February 4, at Grand Rapids First in the Prayer Chapel (2100 - 44th St. SW), with Rev. Tim Ryder officiating. Interment in Dutton Cemetery. Contributions in memory of Mark may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.

Bart Huisman, age 84, of Kentwood, entered his heavenly home on Wednesday, January 28, 2015. Bart retired from Standard Lumber after 24 years of service. He also volunteered for many years at the Conference Grounds and at Crossroad Bible Institute. He was preceded in death by Opa's girl, Jenna Steenwyk. Bart will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Fran; his children, Lloyd (Liz) Huisman, Helen Huisman, Pete (Sharon) Huisman, Ed (Cheryl) Huisman, Ann (Ken) Steenwyk, Wanda (Dan) Langworthy; 21 grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Piet (Thea) Huisman, Dick (Coby) Huisman, Jan Hendrik (Ietie) Huisman, Diane OomKes, Harry (Ytje) Huisman, Janny (Klaas) Bos, Kor (Cieka) Huisman. The funeral service will be held 11 am Monday, February 2, at Cutlerville East Christian Reformed Church, 501 68th St. SE, with Rev. Bill Renkema officiating. Interment in Blain Cemetery. Contributions in memory of Bart may be made to Crossroad Bible Institute.

Jean Korringa, aged 94, of Grand Rapids, went to be with her Lord on Thursday, February 5, 2015. Jean was a gifted artist. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Her husband, Thomas; son, Henry; and grandchildren, Greg and Loreen Korringa; preceded her in death. Surviving are her children, Thomas (Eileen) Korringa, Patricia (Rick) Wall; daughter-in-law, Judy Korringa; grandchildren, Jeff Korringa, Ben DeVries, Jeremy DeVries, Lee Korringa, Steve Korringa; 13 great grandchildren; brother, Peter (Theresa) Hoekstra; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held 11 am Saturday, February 14, at Stroo Funeral Home; with Rev. Brian Vos officiating. Interment in Winchester Cemetery. Contributions in memory of Jean may be made to Zion Christian School.

Mary F. George, age 94, of Kentwood, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, January 27, 2015. Mary was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, who enjoyed gardening. Preceding her in death are her son-in-law, Bill McKinley; three brothers and one sister. She will be deeply missed by her husband, Erwin; her children, Barb, Mary McKinley, Jan (Mike) Oberlin; grandchildren, Kurt (Rachel) Oberlin, Kristine Oberlin, Katlin (John) Ferland, Mike (Amy) McKinley, Billy (Kristina) McKinley, Brenda (Jerry) Williams; great-granddaughter, Ellie; several nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held 11 am Saturday, January 31, at Kentwood Baptist Church, 2875 52nd St. SE, with her grandson, Pastor Kurt Oberlin officiating. Interment in Lakeside Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to Kentwood Baptist Church.

Marlene (Stromme) Marshall, age 78, of Wyoming, formerly of Lakeview, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 29, 2015. She was born to Carl and Leone (Burns) Stromme on May 29, 1936, in Grand Rapids. As a child her family moved to the Detroit area, where she eventually met the love of her life, Howard Marshall, who survives her. In December they celebrated 60 years of marriage. She is also survived by her children, Robin (Rick) Krause of Chesterfield; Michael (Joanne) Marshall of Caledonia; John (Beverly) Marshall of Madison Heights; and Elizabeth (Todd) Townsend of Oviedo, FL.; grandchildren, Eric and Matt (Katie) Krause, Sarah, Melissa, Kyla and Emma Marshall, and David Townsend. Marlene and Howard enjoyed 25 years of retirement living on Townline Lake in Lakeview before relocating to the Grand Rapids area in 2012. Cremation has taken place, and interment is planned at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly later this year. A memorial service will take place at a later date. Memorial gifts may be made to Spectrum Health Hospice through Spectrum Health Foundation.

Marian Ruth Wolfert (Slot) age 89, of Caledonia, went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, January 27, 2015. Marian lived a life of quiet service to the Lord, her family, and her church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew; son-in-law, Glenn Ritzmann; parents, Gerrit and Grace Slot; brother, Russell Slot; and many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. She will be lovingly remembered by her children, "Red" Linda Ritzmann of CA, Joanie and Conroy Zuiderveen, Laura and Bill Trowbridge, both of Caledonia; grandchildren, Scott (Tami) Zuiderveen, Kurt (April) Zuiderveen, Rolland (Deb) Trowbridge, Newton (Barb) Trowbridge, Sean Trowbridge, Paul (Zhiling) Trowbridge, Beth Trowbridge; 12 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held 3 pm Sunday, February 1, at Stroo Funeral Home, with Rev. R. Scott Greenway and Rev. Merle Buwalda officiating. Interment in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Contributions in memory of Marian may be made to Caledonia C.R.C. Christian Education Fund.

VEKERKE - Our deeply loved son, Connor Verkerke, age 9, of Kentwood, was taken from us unexpectedly on Monday, August 4, 2014. He was a student at Excel Charter Academy, a member of Cub Scout Pack 3373 in Comstock Park, played soccer, and loved to dance and sing. Connor will be deeply missed by his parents, Dani and Jared; his brothers, Kameron (7), Riley (5), Morgan (3); his grandparents, Nana, Sue (Potts) and Grandpa Tim Fiebig, Bill Verkerke; and many other people who loved him. Visitation will be held Wednesday, August 13, from 10:30 to 11:30 am with a memorial service following at 11:30 am at Cornerstone Church, 1675 84th St. SE, with Dr. Bradley P. Kalajainen officiating.

Paul DeVries officiating. Interment in Pine Hill Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Bethany Christian Services.
