Margaret Thompson

Funeral service for Margaret Evelyn Thompson, 90, St. Paul, took place May 13 at Como Park Lutheran Church. Rev. Leonard Jacobson officiated.

Thompson died May 7, 2006 at Regions Hospital, St. Paul. She was born April 7, 1916 in St. Paul to Monrad and Agnes Ovidia (Pederson) Birkeland.

She is survived by her daughters, Nancy (Gerald) McIntyre, Mary Austin; grandchildren, Michael (Claudia), Khrystyne (Trevor), Eric (Jamie), Matt, Megan; great-grandchildren; brother, Elmer Birkeland; and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James; son-in-law, Glenn; brother, Art; sister, Adeline; and other relatives.

Pallbearers were Gerald and Michael McIntyre, Matt and Eric Austin and Trevor Scanlon.

Interment was at Lakeview Cemetery, Nowthen. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka.

Marilyn Thunstrom

Graveside service for Marilyn L. Thunstrom, 53, Coon Rapids, took place May 16 at Epiphany Cemetery, Coon Rapids. Rev. Dennis Zehren officiated.

Thunstrom died May 11, 2006. She was born March 3, 1953 in Minneapolis to Willis and Florence Thunstrom and was a lab technician.

She is survived by her daughter, Jessica (Bjorn) Nelson; mother, Florence Thunstrom; sister, LuAnne (David) Everett; brothers, Thomas and Gerald Thunstrom; two grandchildren; four nieces, three ne-hews; and three great-nieces.

She was preceded in death by her sons, Marc and Scott; and father, Willis Thunstrom.

Interment was at Epiphany Cemetery, Coon Rapids. Arrangements were by Gearhart Funeral Home.

Nathan Winkle

Funeral service for Nathan Daniel Winkle, 25, Andover, took place May 7 at Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel, Coon Rapids.

Winkle died accidentally May 2, 2006.

He is survived by his parents, Nevin and Debra Winkle; sister, Kayla Winkle; nephew and godson, Dillon Winkle; grandparents, Virginia and Robert Kuns; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Thelma and Michael Mash, Norman Winkle and Gordon Chapman.

Arrangements were by Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel.

Herman Fessler

Funeral service for Herman S. Fessler, 81, Coon Rapids, took place May 23, 2006 at Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel, Coon Rapids.

Fessler was a retired chief design engineer for the Cornelius Company and a World War II veteran.

He was a member of the Coon Rapids VFW and American Legion, Minneapolis Model Aero Club, National Free Flight Society and the Minnesota Woodturners Association.

He is survived by his sons and daughters, Dianne Pearson and husband Roger, Gary Fessler and wife Gail, Bonnie LeNeau and husband Rob and Randal Fessler and wife Roseanne; 10 grandchildren; sisters, Bernice Molmen and Irene Hanlon; and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy; daughter, Karen; and parents, Herman L. and Barbara Fessler.

Interment was at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Arrangements were by Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel, Coon Rapids.

Nancy Freitag

Memorial service for Nancy Lee Freitag, 61, Big Lake, formerly of Coon Rapids, will take place at a future date.

Freitag died May 15, 2006. She was born Oct. 22, 1944 in Redwood Fall to Robert F. and Donna M. (Paape) Freitag. She worked for Rainbow Foods and RE/MAX Realty before owning her own pet sitting business, known as Pet Pals Critters Sitters, for the past 10 years.

She is survived by her mother, Donna; and aunts, uncles and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her father, Robert.

Arrangements were by Peterson-Grimsmo Chapel of Monticello.

Rachel Hillstrom

Funeral service for Rachel Nadine Hillstrom, 83, Mission, Texas, formerly of Anoka, will take place at a later date.

Hillstrom died May 18, 2006 in Mission, Texas. She was born in Woodbury, Tenn., to Bill and Nannie Milligan and was retired from Thermo Serve in Anoka, where she and her husband, Jack, lived for 35 years before retiring to Mission.

She is survived by her husband, Jack Hillstrom; sons, Jack (Thoy) Hillstrom of Minnesota, William (Georgia) Hillstrom of Texas; daughter, Beverly (Dennis) Bean of California; grandchildren, Roland, Andrea, Mark, Kelle, Chanin, T.J. and Tony; and great-grandchildren, Courtney, Jordan, Aidan, Jack, Aleah and Rachel.

Micheal Korynta

Graveside service for Micheal Bradley Korynta, infant, Coon Rapids, took place May 17 at Morningside Memorial Gardens, Coon Rapids. Rev. Bernard Reiser officiated.

He was born and died May 14, 2006.

He is survived by his parents, Nichole and Bradley; great-grandma, Isabel Korynta; grandparents, Duane and Judy Korynta, Susan Miller and Gary and Trish Miles; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Pallbearers were Bradley Korynta and Craig Johnson.

Interment was at Morningside Memorial Gardens. Arrangements were by Gearhart Funeral Home, Coon Rapids.

Ferne Lundby

Funeral service for Ferne Virginia Lundby, 82, Andover, took place May 24 at United Methodist Church of Anoka. Rev. Bill Eaves officiated.

Lundby died May 20, 2006 at Anoka Care Center. She was born March 30, 1924 in St. Louis Park to Carl and Effie (Johnson) Fagerstrom. She sold crafts.

She is survived by her son, Larry (Cathy) Lundby; grandchildren, Chris Lundby and Robyn (Don) Hamm; great-grandsons, Joshua and Aaron; sister, Sylvia Meyers; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband Roy; and sisters, Anne, Edna and Shirley.

Interment was at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka.

Karen Marshall

Funeral service for Karen Lee Marshall, 54, Anoka, took place May 20 at St. Stephen's Catholic Church, Anoka. Rev. Mike Van Sloun officiated.

Marshall died May 15, 2006. She was born April 4, 1952 in Anoka to Hans Martin and Elizabeth Rose (Nardinger) Dahl and was a physical education teacher in Anoka-Hennepin School District 11 for 30 years, most recently at Lincoln Elementary School, Anoka.

She is survived by her husband, Reed; daughter, Samantha; brothers, Bob (Gail) and Jerry (Lynn) Dahl; many nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Hans and Elizabeth Dahl.

Pallbearers were Bob, Jerry and Michael Dahl, Jim and Doug Tice and Mark Case.

Interment was at Calvary Cemetery, Anoka. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka.

Janette Paulson

Funeral service for Janette Nix Jakovina Paulson, 57, Ham Lake, took place May 20 at the Catholic Church of St. Paul, Ham Lake. Rev. Jon Vander Ploeg officiated.

Paulson died of cancer at her Ham Lake home May 16, 2006. She was born March 17, 1949 in Fayetteville, Tenn., to William and Mattie Jane Jakovina. She was an elementary education teacher.

She is survived by her husband, Thomas; and children, William Stefan, Janie Catherine, Matthew Thomas, Elizabeth Anne, Melissa Marie and Cynthia Lorraine.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Mattie Jane Nix Jakovina and father, William Stefan Jakovina, both of Fayetteville; uncle Mack Nix; and cousin Jack Nix of Kelso, Tenn.

Pallbearers were Will, Matt, Tim, Terry, Kris and Brett Paulson.

Interment was at Morningside Memorial Gardens, Coon Rapids. Arrangements were by Gearhart Funeral Home, Coon Rapids.

Caren Soland

Funeral service for Caren Jean Soland, 58, Ramsey, took place May 22 at St. Stephen's Catholic Church, Anoka. Rev. Terry Beeson officiated.

Soland died May 19, 2006 at her home. She was born May 13, 1948 in Rock Island, Ill., to John Hugh and Mildred Dora (Patrick) Sigfrid.

She is survived by her husband, Dan; son, Brett Soland and fiancee Robin Jacobson of Zimmerman; daughter, Gina Soland and fiance An Thuan Nguyen of Coon Rapids; six grandchildren; parents, John and Mildred Sigfrid of Dayton; sisters and brothers, Sue (Rob) Boschee of Ramsey, Debbie (Chuck) Wiener of Ohio, Pam (Steve) Olson of Ramsey, Doug (Tracy) Sigfrid of Coon Rapids and Steve (Kelly) Sigfrid of Cambridge; and special friend, Julie Lindstrom of Ramsey.

Pallbearers were Jim and Zach Tufte, Jon Soland, Dustin Steinbrecher, Rob and Steve Wiener and Ben Cramer.

Interment was at Calvary Cemetery, Anoka. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka.
