Funeral services for Bernard 'Bernie' G. Koenig, 73, Garrison, took place April 20 at Epiphany Catholic Church, Coon Rapids. Rev. Patrick Kennedy officiated.
Koenig died April 16, 2004 in Minneapolis. He was born Nov. 14, 1931 in Minneapolis to John and Idell Koenig and was an electrical machinery operator.
He is survived by his wife, Violet; children, Linda (Don), Sharon, Tudy, Ron (Kris), Daryl and Kat; sisters, Nancy (Chuck), Babe; brothers, Dick (JoAnn) and Larry; and grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Idell; brother, Jack; sister, Barb; and children, Sonny, Randy, Nancy and Marilyn.
Pallbearers were Daryl J., Don, Ron Jr. and Robert Aderman, Bill Huff and Brandt Mosher.
Interment was at Morningside Memorial Gardens, Coon Rapids. Arrangements were by Gearhart Funeral Chapel.
David Kutzner
Funeral services for David Harold Kutzner, 77, Coon Rapids, took place April 16 at Gearhart Funeral Home, Coon Rapids. Rev. Lee Hallstrom officiated.
Kutzner died April 13, 2004 at Mercy Hospital. He was born Jan. 28, 1927 in Mason City, Iowa, to Harold L. Kutzner and Priscilla DeSomery and was a retired truck driver,
He is survived by his wife, Margaret; mother, Priscilla; sister, Cynthia Lilligren; children, James (Deborah), Kurt (Karen) Judy (Jake) Jacobson, Karen (Greg) Gilseth, Kathy (Marty) Fossen, Jon (Kristi), Billy (Trisha) Jarmon and Ricky (Lynne) Jarmon; 14 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Harold; and brother, Phillip.
Interment was at Morningside Memorial Gardens, Coon Rapids. Arrangements were by Gearhart.
Elder Opem
Funeral services for Elder A. Opem, 88, Anoka, took place April 5 at Zion Lutheran Church, Anoka. Rev. Timothy Johnson officiated.
Opem died April 2, 2004 at Twin Rivers Nursing Home. He was born Nov. 23, 1915 in Minneapolis to John and Estella Opem and was employed at Federal Cartridge for 40 years. He was a member of the Jaycees, Masons and Shriners.
He is survived by his daughters, Linda (Gene) Case, Sharon (Ernie) Woizeschke; grandchildren, Michael (Heide) Woizeschke, Kristin (Jim Kagermeier), Grant (Karen) Case, Troy (Lorna) Case; great-grandchildren, Cassidy, Brie, Levi, Hailey and Allie Case and Martin Kagemeier.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Elyse.
Pallbearers were his grandchildren and spouses.
Interment was at Glen Cary Cemetery, Ham Lake. Arrangements were by Methven-Taylor Funeral Home.
Floyd Regehr
Memorial services for Floyd D. Regehr, 60, Spring Lake Park, took place April 17 at Faith Christian Reformed Church, New Brighton.
Regehr died April 11, 2004. He was employed at Health Partners.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy; daughter, Amy; sons, Michael (Jennifer) and David; grandchildren, Caleb, Andrew, Luke and Jessica; mother, Mabel; three sisters and one brother; brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, many nieces and nephews; and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Henry; infant brother, Neil; sister, Pauline; and brother-in-law, Robert Hoekstra.
Arrangements were by Miller Funeral Home, Fridley Chapel.
Donna Thompson
Funeral services for Donna Mae Thompson, 70, Big Lake, took place April 8 at Epiphany Catholic Church, Coon Rapids. Rev. Thomas Kunel officiated.
Thompson died April 6, 2004 in Coon Rapids. She was born March 24, 1934 in St. Cloud to John Eizenhoefer and Lillian Evenson and was a beautician.
She is survived by her husband, Elnor; son. Michael (LeAnne); daughter, Joy Willenbring; stepchildren, Debbie and Terry Thompson; grandson, Michael; brothers, Lawrence and Charles Pelvil; sister, Joyce Morrow; and many relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Michael T. Willenbring; mother, Lillian; sister, Betty; and grandson, Nathan.
Interment was at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Arrangements were by Gearhart.
Donald Ward
Funeral services for Donald John Ward, 48, St. Francis, took place April 20 at St. Stephen's Catholic Church, Anoka. Rev. Bill DeZiel officiated.
Ward died April 15, 2004 at his home. He was born Dec. 2, 1955 in Golden Valley to David Peter and Theresa Catherine (Otte) Ward and was the owner/operator of Ward Heating and Air Conditioning.
He is survived by his children, Jacob, BreAnna and Hannah; former wife, Connie; parents, David and Theresa Ward; brothers, Joseph (Alison), Thomas and Jeffrey Ward; sisters, Karen (James) McNevin, Diane Ward, Catherine Voss and Julie (Luther) Aadland; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and friends.
Interment was at Calvary Cemetery. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka.
Eugene Young
Funeral services for Eugene R. Young, 72, Blaine, took place April 16 at St. Timothy's Catholic Church. Rev. Ken Opat officiated.
Young died April 13, 2004 in Crystal. He was born July 20, 1931 in Rush City to George and Helen Young and was an engineer for Honeywell.
He is survived by his children, Steven, Patrick, JoEllen (Bill) Lawler, Eric (Heather), David (Shelley); grandchildren, Billy, Ellie, Jack, Thomas, Robby, Peter and Isabella; siblings, Veronica Haessig, Lloyd (Joyce) and twin sister Eugenia Miller; mother-in-law, Mary Sybrandt-Taft; brother and sisters-in-law; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his patents, George and Helen Young; and wife, MaryAnn.
Pallbearers were David Sybrandt, Donnie Grise, John Hebrink, Buth Haaf, John Haessig and Dick Lofstun.
Interment was at Calvary Cemetery, Rush City. Arrangements were by Gearhart Funeral Chapel, Coon Rapids.
Joseph Drexten
Funeral services for Joseph Robert Drexten, 80, Brooklyn Park, took place April 27 at St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church, Brooklyn Park. Rev. Jack Long officiated.
Drexten died April 24, 2004 in Arden Hills. He was born Jan. 17, 1924 in McGrath to Oscar G. Drexten and Lucille Mary Elizabeth Zimpel and was a retired auto mechanic.
He is survived by his children, Rebecca (Mark Lutz), Jonathan, Elizabeth (Stacy Rubsam), Joseph (Brenda) and Jeffrey (Leann); grandchildren, Shelby, Peter, Derek, Dylan, Scott, Cole, Alec, Jordan and Madeline; sister, Theresa (Jim LaFlamme); and many nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys; and grandson, Reese.
Interment was at St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Cemetery, Brooklyn Park. Arrangements were by Gearhart.
Harley Harnden
Funeral services for Harley P. Harnden, 79, Anoka, took place April 24 at First Congregational Church of Anoka. Rev. Curtis Johnson officiated.
Harnden died April 19, 2004 at Crystal Care Center. He was born Dec. 24, 1924 in Fairmont and was a retired utility company employee.
He is survived by his wife, Ann; daughter, Sherry (Artie); son, Scott (Jan); grandsons, Kyle and Brody Swanson, Mike Torgesen; great-grandson, Tyler Torgesen; and nieces, nephews and many friends.
Interment was at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Arrangements were by Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel, Coon Rapids.
Alfred Omlie
Funeral services for Alfred R. Omlie, 75, Fridley, took place April 24 at Gearhart Funeral Chapel, Coon Rapids. Rev. Jan Hartsook officiated.
Omlie died April 20, 2004 in New Brighton. He was born Aug. 1, 1928 in Bismarck, N.D., to Edd and Nina Omlie and was a truck driver.
He is survived by his children, Linda (Patrick) McCollum, David, Joyce (Bill) Holzemer, Joanne (Steve) Lipinski, Ken (Mary), Vince (Jodee); 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; sister, Della (George) Baker; and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Elaine; and parents, Edd and Nina Omlie.
Interment was at Morningside Memorial Gardens, Coon Rapids. Arrangements were by Gearhart Funeral Chapel, Coon Rapids.
Ruth Sjerven
Funeral services for Ruth Emma Sjerven, 75, Moose Lake, formerly of Ham Lake, took place April 18 at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, East Bethel.
Sjerven died April 15, 2004.
She is survived by her children, Dennis (Rose), Bruce (Becky), Terry (Robin) and Julie (Doug) Houle; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; sisters, Helen Kemble and Patricia Zart; brothers, August and Leroy Bellach; special nieces, Ruth, Deanne and Darlene; and many other nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Truman; and sister, Nora Judkins.
