PETERSON.--At his home in the town of Elk Lake, Grant county, Minn., on September 16th, 1887, of heart disease, John O. Peterson, aged 65 years.

Mr. Peterson was born in Sweden. He came to this country in 1865, and first located in Washington county, this state, but in a few months removed to this county. He has always ranked among the most honest and industrious farmers of the county, and as one of the few wealthy ones as well. Besides a large circle of friends he leaves a wife, seven children and numerous grand-children to mourn their loss. The children's names are as follows: Mrs. James E Williams, wife of the clerk of court, Mrs. John G. Peterson, of Barrett, Mrs. N. F. Schroeder, of Wheaton, Chas. G. Peterson, of Evansville, Peter J., Frank A., and Martin Peterson, of Elk Lake. His faithful wife and eldest son, Peter, were the only members of ther family at his deathbed. He had been ill but a few days. He died in full possession of all his mental frailities and the last words he uttered were ones of consolation to his family for they gave undoubted evidence that it would be well with him in the life beyond. His last words were, "Do not mourn for me, I am prepared to go." Funeral services were held at Zionsburg Swedish Lutheran church in Douglas county, near the home of the deceased, on September 20th, Rev. Johnson officiating.
