Arlene Stockmoe

Arlene Mary Rick was born December 26, 1944, to I.T. “Sonny” and Lillian Rose (Holecek) Rick, in Breckenridge, MN, where she was raised and graduated from high school.

Arlene was married to Harris M. Stockmoe, July 17, 1965, in Breckenridge, and they made their home in Moorhead, MN. They later moved to Fargo, ND. For the past few years, they had spent the winter months in Las Vegas, NV, and the summer months at their home on Middle Cormorant Lake, near Lake Park, MN. Harris died March 29, 1995. Arlene died Thursday, January 22, 2004, in her home in Las Vegas, at fifty-nine years of age.

Arlene is survived by her three children, Scott Stockmoe and his wife, Joy, and their two children, Lauren and Elise, Maple Grove, MN, Susan Gilbertson, Las Vegas, NV, and Stuart Stockmoe and his wife, Sheri, Fargo; brothers and sisters, Dorothy (John) Kotalik, Minneapolis, MN, Ignatius Rick, and Paul (Nona) Rick, both Pelican Rapids, MN, Gerald (Betty) Rick, John (Ginny) Rick, and Joseph Rick, Breckenridge, Rose Anne Brink, Oceanside, CA, and Mary Jane (Fred) Crafton, El Segundo, CA; mother-in-law, Frida Stockmoe, Fargo; and sister-in-law, Beverly (Jerry) Lehman, Fargo.

In addition to her parents and husband, Arlene was preceded in death by two brothers, Edward and Michael James Rick.

Visitation for Arlene will be Thursday, January 29, 2004, from 5 - 8 PM, with a prayer service at 6:30 PM, in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead. Funeral Mass will be Friday, January 30, 2004, at 2 PM, in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Moorhead. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery, Moorhead.

Blanche M. Stich

Blanche M. Stich, 90, Moorhead, MN, died Friday, February 20, 2004, in her home.

Blanche Marie Landreville was born May 9, 1913, to Tom and Regina (Proulx) Landreville, in Argyle, MN, where she was raised and attended school.

Blanche was united in marriage to Clarence Peter Stich, October 3, 1933, in Stephen, MN. They farmed in the Stephen area until moving to rural Lake Park, MN, in 1950, where they also farmed. In 1957, they moved to Moorhead. Blanche worked as a nurse’s aide at St. Ansgar Hospital, Moorhead, for many years.

Clarence died February 25, 1989, and Blanche continued to make her home in Moorhead.

Blanche is survived by her five sons, Clarence Jr. (Ophelia), Pueblo, CO, Gordon (Mavis), Audubon, MN, Benny (Faye), Stanwood, WA, Elfie (Jeanie), Surprise, AZ, and Glenn, Minneapolis, MN; twenty-two grandchildren; fifty-four great-grandchildren; and fifteen great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, Blanche was preceded in death by a son, Larry, in 1969.

Evelyn Schranz

Evelyn Clara Schranz, 96, died Sunday, February 29, 2004, at Summerhill Villa Assisted Living Home in Valencia, CA. Evelyn was born September 26, 1907, in Donaldson, MN, to John and Tillie Schranz. She grew up at 316 South 7th Street in Moorhead, MN. Evelyn graduated from Moorhead High School and attended NDAC.

Throughout her life, Evelyn loved music and dancing. In her late teens, Evelyn played the piano at silent movie theatres in the area. In the early 1930s, she moved to Los Angeles and became an executive secretary at major oil companies. She was once featured as “Top Secretary” in a national advertising campaign for Remington Typewriters. Her face graced the full-page ads in Time, Saturday Evening Post, and The American magazines. After she retired, she continued her active social life, including world travels and volunteer work at senior centers.

Evelyn is survived by nieces Carole Halander, Naples, FL, Debby Dee Karr, Merrimac, WI; and nephews Frank Schranz, Valencia, CA, Bill Dick, Moraga, CA, and Buzz Schranz, Naples, FL.

She was preceded in death by her sisters Pearl Rae Eklund, Margaret Dick, Myrtle Schranz, and brothers, Walter and Earling Schranz.

Olga H. Peet

Olga Henrietta Tweeten was born February 19, 1909, in Forest City, IA, to Knute and Susanne (Halvorson) Tweeten. She was the third of four daughters. Olga was raised in Lake Mills, IA, where she attended country schools. In 1917, the Tweeten family moved to Comstock, MN, where they farmed. Olga attended Comstock Public School and graduated from Moorhead (MN) High School in 1926. After receiving her teaching certificate, Olga taught for seven years in one-room schools in Wilkin, Clay and Cass Counties.

Olga was united in marriage to David N. Peet, of Wolverton, MN, on June 2, 1936, in St. Cloud, MN, and they spent their married lives farming in Deerhorn Township, near Wolverton.

David preceded her in death on March 16, 1995, and Olga continued to make her home on the farm until moving to Villa Maria, Fargo, ND, in January of 2001. With her family by her side, Olga went to be with her Lord on Thursday, June 3, 2004, at Villa Maria, at ninety-five years of age.

Olga is lovingly survived by her four children, Dorothy (Al) Hanson, Denver, CO, Nancy (John) Tompt, Frazee, MN, Michael Peet, Wolverton, and Kenwood (Diane) Peet, Dawson, MN; five grandchildren, Jill Jones, Angela (Scott) Linde, Heidi (Scott) McKenzie, Laura Peet Erkes and David Peet; seven great-grandchildren, Karli and Kelli Jones, Roxanne, Ted and Tiffani Linde, and Jesse and Sara McKenzie; and one sister, Alice Sheldon, Fargo.

In addition to her husband, Olga was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Kathy Jo Tompt; and two sisters, Lovilla Nichol and Kathryn Massey.

Memorials are preferred to the Wolverton Evangelical Free Church Building Fund and The Gideons International.

A visitation will be Sunday, June 6, 2004, from 3 - 6 PM, at Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead. The memorial service will be Monday, June 7, 2004, at 2 PM, in Bethel Evangelical Free Church, Fargo. Interment will be in Deerhorn Cemetery, rural Wolverton, at a later date.

Marcil "M.J." Paseka

Marcil (MJ) Paseka, 81, Moorhead, MN, passed from this earth on Wednesday, January 9, 2004 at Veteran’s Affairs Medical Center, Fargo, ND.

Marcil was born June 7, 1922, in Moorhead, and raised in West Fargo, ND. He married Lorraine Mallow on December 24, 1942, in Denver, CO, while serving in the US Army. He went overseas in 1944 and was captured by the German Army near St Vith, France, on December 24, 1944, in the Battle of the Bulge. American forces liberated Marcil on March 27, 1945.

He and Lorraine moved to Moorhead, where he established Paseka Plumbing and Heating, which he owned and operated until he retired in 1984. After retirement he worked as a plumbing inspector for the city of Moorhead. Marcil was well known for his work ethic and his honesty, and was well respected and appreciated by the contractors and developers with whom he did business. Marcil was a lifetime member of Albert E. Johnson VFW Post 1223 in Moorhead.

Marcil is survived by his four daughters, Sharon (Robert) Irwin, Mankato MN, Lynette “Lynn” Peterson, Moorhead, Brenda (John) Schander, Sykston, ND, and Debra (Jerry) Barnum, West Fargo; 9 grandchildren; 2 stepgrandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a number of nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lorraine; sons-in-law Larry Lyngaas and Larry J. Peterson; his six brothers and four sisters, and his parents, John and Francis (Sedlacek) Paseka. May God bless his memory.

Visitation for Marcil will be Sunday, January 11, 2004, from 7 - 9 PM, with a prayer service at 8 PM, in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead. Funeral Mass will be Monday, January 12, 2004, at 10:30 AM, in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Moorhead. Burial will take place in Moorhead Memorial Gardens.

Ronald Olson

Ronald Leon Olson was born December 7, 1953, in Fargo, ND, to Olaf and Mary (Johnson) Olson. He grew up in Moorhead, MN, and graduated from Moorhead High School in 1972.

After school, Ron worked for Americana Nursing Home and St. Ansgar Hospital, both in Moorhead. He then worked for many years for Aggregate Industries, Moorhead.

Ron loved the outdoors. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, riding his motorcycle, or just hanging out with the guys and his dog, Snookers. Ron died Saturday, March 20, 2004, in Innovis Health, Fargo, at the age of 50.

He is survived by his mother, Mary Olson, Moorhead; two sisters, Yvonne (Raynald) Toutant, Fargo, and Loretta (Richard) LeSage, Ponsford, MN; a brother, Robert (Sandy) Olson, Moorhead; his significant other of nine years, Kathy Seigler, Moorhead; a very special friend who was like a son, Todd Fox, Minneapolis, MN; eight nieces, one nephew, four grandnieces and four grandnephews.

Ron was preceded in death by his father, Olaf, and a brother, Donald.

Visitation: Wednesday, 5 - 7 PM with a prayer service at 7 PM St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church Moorhead

Funeral Mass: Thursday, 11 AM St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church Moorhead

Interment: St. Francis Xavier Church Cemetery, Lake Park, Minnesota

Bernice O. Muhle

Bernice Otillia Nelson was born February 3, 1914, at Goodridge, MN. The family later moved to Moorhead, MN, where she grew up and attended school. Bernice was united in marriage to Norman Muhle on September 15, 1945, in Moorhead, where the couple made their home.

Bernice Muhle died Monday, Feb. 9, 2004, in Moorhead Healthcare Center at the age of 90. She enjoyed the outdoors, gardening, fishing, and being a devoted grandmother to Jason and Michelle. She will be dearly missed.

She is survived by her son, Myron (Marilyn) Muhle, West Fargo, ND; and grandchildren, Jason, Fargo, ND, and Michelle, West Fargo. She was preceded in death by her husband, Norman, who died on Feb. 22, 2002; her parents, Mikkel and Ann (Sundvolen) Nelson; two brothers, Nick and Albert; and two sisters, Inga and Selma.

Visitation: Thursday, Feb. 12, 2004, from 5 PM until 8 PM Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead, and one hour before the funeral, at the church.

Prayer service: Thursday at 8:15 PM Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead.

Funeral service: Friday, Feb. 13, 2004, at 2 PM Trinity Lutheran Church Moorhead.

Burial: Riverside Cemetery, Moorhead.

Margaret & Joshua Mphosi

Margaret Mphosi, age 28, and her infant son, Joshua Mphosi, age 3 months, both of Fargo, ND, died in an auto accident on Saturday, June 5, 2004, near Fergus Falls, MN.

Margaret Semata was born December 14, 1975, in South Africa, where she grew up and received her education. She was married to Maboko Samuel Mphosi in 1993.

In June of 2003, Margaret and their children came to Fargo, ND, from South Africa, to join Samuel, who was a student at NDSU. Margaret worked at Cardinal Insulated Glass, a manufacturing company in Fargo.

Joshua Chairo Mphosi was born February 26, 2004, in Fargo, ND.

Margaret is survived by her husband, Samuel, Fargo; two sons, Lucas and Johosaphat, both Fargo; her parents, Sakiel and Emily Semata, in South Africa; and six brothers and sisters, Joseph Semata, Johanna Masebe, Petrus Semata, Thomas Semata, Selinah Semata, and Mokgosana Semata, all South Africa. Joshua is also survived by his paternal grandmother, Anna Mafukate, in South Africa.

Memorial service: Sunday, June 12, 2004, at 2 PM, First Congregational Church UCC (1101 17th Ave. South) Fargo, North Dakota

Additional services and burial will be in South Africa.
