Wendolyn Winter
Wendy R. Winter, 53, Dilworth, MN, died Monday, August 8, 2005, in her home.
Wendolyn Rachel Sunde was born May 19, 1952, at Grand Forks, ND, the daughter of Warren P. and Genevieve (Papenfuss) Sunde. She attended school in Dilworth and graduated in 1970. Following her graduation, Wendy worked for several years at Northwestern Bell as an operator.
Wendy married Helmer Ness in 1971, in Dilworth. They moved to Breckenridge, MN, where she worked for 3M in Wahpeton, ND, for fourteen years.
She married John Bontjes in 1986, in Breckenridge. They later moved to Goodland, KS. She returned to Dilworth and was united in marriage to Tom Winter on December 31, 2002.
Wendy was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Her hobbies included baking, crocheting, gardening, and crossword puzzles. For many years she fought a courageous battle with cancer.
Wendy is survived by her husband, Tom, Dilworth; her mother, Genevieve Sunde, Dilworth; a son, Corey (Laurie) Ness, Kent, MN; a daughter, Lisa (Chad) Klemetson, Dilworth; two stepsons, Justin Winter, Fargo, ND, and Jeremy VandenBerg, Wahpeton; stepdaughter, Kelly (CJ) Kohlhofer, CT; brother, Stephen (Alice) Sunde, Little Falls, MN; sister, Pat (Del) Palloch, Moorhead, MN; eight grandchildren, Matthew, Casey, Dylan, Skylar, Christy, Hunter, Kassidy, and Danika; and a number of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Warren; two brothers, Dean and Warren Jr.; and her grandparents.
With heartfelt thanks and gratitude to Dr. Nathan Kobrinsky and staff at the Roger Maris Cancer Center, Fargo. Wendy will be missed by many.
The visitation will take place on Thursday from 4 - 8 PM with a prayer service at 7 PM in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead. The Funeral will be on Friday, August 12, 2005, at 1:30 PM, in Dilworth Lutheran Church, Dilworth.
Burial is in Moorhead Memorial Gardens, Moorhead.
Grace C. Wolsky
Our mother Grace C. Wolsky, 72, Moorhead, MN, passed away on February 12, 2005, at her home in Sharp View, Moorhead, under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.
Grace Carmen Olsen, the daughter of George and Cora (Peterson) Olsen was born March 3, 1932, in Benson, MN.
A wonderful person and loved by many, she shared the gift of grace with whomever she met.
Her journey began on a farm in Rustad, MN, with her older sister Monna Lou and younger brother Georgie. After graduating from Comstock (MN) High School, she went to work at Northwestern Bell Telephone Co. in Fargo, ND.
Grace was united in marriage to Wesley Wolsky, from Nome, ND, in Rustad, MN, in 1953. They raised three children - James, Jon, and Michelle. After her divorce, she moved to Moorhead in 1975, where she worked for Moorhead State University, for several years. For 21 years, she worked for St. John’s Hospital, Fargo.
Grace has been an active member of various organizations, through The Lutheran Church of Christ the King, Moorhead, including BeFrienders.
Those that she has left and miss her dearly are her daughter, Michelle (Fritz) Baehr, of Mars, PA, and two sons, James (Carla) Wolsky, Harwood, ND, and Jon (Debbie) Wolsky, Jamestown, NY; her sister, Monna Lou (Donovan) Leach, Glyndon, MN; her aunt, Laura Olson, Moorhead; her nieces, Maureen Holden, Fargo, and LuAnn (Matt) Tack, Dilworth, MN; nine grandchildren and one great grand child. She was preceded in death by her brother on June 27, 1993 and her parents.
VISITATION: Monday, February 14, 2005 - 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead.
FUNERAL SERVICE: Tuesday, February 15, 2005 - 1:00 PM in The Lutheran Church of Christ the King, Moorhead.
INTERMENT: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Fargo.
Velma H. Smedsrud
Velma H. Smedsrud, 70, Dilworth, MN, formerly of rural Harmony, MN, and Canton, MN, died Monday, June 20, 2005, in Elim Care Center, Fargo, ND.
Velma Hope Hochstetler was born June 26, 1934, to Homer and Ida (Olson) Hochstetler in Polk County, WI. She grew up and attended school in Ashland, WI. Velma moved to Clouquet, MN, then to the Minneapolis, MN, area and eventually settled in Cresco, IA. On March 15, 1957, Velma married Arden Smedsrud in Decorah, IA, and they made their home on a farmstead in between Harmony and Canton. They farmed there for many years and Velma also worked as a manager of the bakery at the IGA store.
Arden died on April 29, 1997, and Velma moved to Dilworth to be closer to family.
Velma is survived by two brothers, Orby (Vera) Hochstetler and Leo (Dee) Hochstetler, both of Moorhead, MN; and three sisters, Lois Reed, Maxwell, IA, Marlene Stevenson, West Fargo, ND, and Twylah (David) Squire, Alexandria, MN. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by three sons, Randy Paul, Daryle Jay, and Roger Louis; and a brother, Larry.

Gloria J. Skare
Gloria Jean Skare was born August 21, 1948, to Floyd and Beverly (Rensby) Anderson. She graduated from Moorhead High School, Moorhead, MN.
On September 30, 1967, Gloria married Warren Skare in Audubon, MN, and they made their home in Dilworth, MN, then Prior Lake, MN. In 1975, they moved to Moorhead.
Gloria died Friday, July 22, 2005, in MeritCare Hospital, Fargo, ND, at the age of fifty-six.
Gloria enjoyed playing Bingo, sewing and cooking. She was very artistic and made many craft projects. Gloria was also a loving wife and mother to her three daughters. She was actively involved in their lives as they were growing up, volunteering as a Girl Scout Leader and Room Mother at their school.
Gloria was a natural caregiver and she was the center of the family She will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her husband, Warren; three daughters, Sara Skare, Fargo, Angie (Eric) Flesberg, Harwood, ND, and Katie Skare, Moorhead; three grandchildren, Jacob Skare and Sofia Kosel, both of Fargo, and Anna Flesberg, Harwood; one brother, Chris Anderson, Moorhead; and two sisters, Terrie (Gary) Hesby, Frazee, MN, and Judy (Dave) Tweten, Audubon.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and one brother, Floyd “Tim” Anderson.
The visitation for Gloria will be on Tuesday from 6 to 8 PM in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead
The funeral service will take place on Wednesday, July 27, 2005, at 10:30 AM in Peace Lutheran Church, Fargo.

Joseph J. Siekaniec
Joseph J. Siekaniec, 73, Moorhead, MN, died Wednesday, July 6, 2005, in Mahnomen Health Center, Mahnomen, MN.
Joseph James Siekaniec, son of Walter and Antoinette (Krajewski) Siekaniec, was born August 2, 1931, in Sioux City, IA, where he grew up and graduated from Trinity High School in 1949. Joseph worked with his father and brother Ed in the family’s restaurant, The Johnson Café, in Sioux City.
Joseph was united in marriage to Doris Charlene Ellis on June 16, 1951, in Sioux City, where the couple made their home.
Joseph served in the US Army in the Korean War from 1951 until his discharge in 1953. Joseph returned to Sioux City and resumed work at the Johnson Café until 1956, at which time he started working for Siouxland Packing Plant, Sioux City as a meat cutter. He was transferred to the West Fargo, ND, Siouxland Packing Plant in 1960, and worked there till 1978, when he started work for Moorhead Hornbacher’s Meat Dept. He retired in 1996.
Joseph is survived by his wife, Charlene, Moorhead; one daughter, Diane Siekaniec, Fargo, ND; three sons, Dave, Bloomington, MN, Greg (Janelle), Homer, Alaska, and Thomas (Sandra), Cold Bay, Alaska; one grandson, Casey and one granddaughter, Claire, Homer, AL; one brother, Fr. Ladislas Siekaniec, St. Louis, MO; five sisters, Mary (Bernie) Patzeold, Plano, IL, Elizabeth Siekaniec, Chicago, IL, Martha Albright, Sioux City, Carmelita (Jim) Lennon, St. Paul, MN, and Jean White, Deltona, FL. Joseph was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister.

Barbara L. Schluter
Barbara L. Schluter, age 71, of Dilworth, MN, died Monday, Jan. 31, 2005, at MeritCare Hospital in Fargo, ND
Barbara Lou Armbruster was born on May 27, 1933 at Flat River, Missouri. Barbara grew up and received her education in Missouri, where she graduated from high school, and attended college.
As a young lady, Barbara worked as a flight attendant. In January of 1962, Barbara married Henry Schluter. They lived in Florida. Barbara worked as a secretary in Florida. She made her home in Bradenton, Florida, until July of 2004, when she moved to Dilworth, MN, where she had lived since.
Barbara is survived by her daughter, Lisa Beaton, Fargo; a sister, Ann (Bob) Stobaugh of Bradenton; and two granddaughters.
Services for Barbara will be in Florida.
Clayton L. Sandeen
Clayton Leroy Sandeen, the son of Andrew and Gertie (Anderson) Sandeen, was born May 11, 1925, in Dale, MN, where he grew up and received his education. In 1944, Clayton entered the US Army Air Corps and was discharged on July 5, 1946.
Following his discharge, he returned to Dale and worked for Ulven Gravel Company in Hawley, MN.
On October 4, 1952, Clayton married Patricia B. Huebner in Fargo, ND. They made their home in Moorhead, MN. Clayton worked at the Gamble-Robinson and Kraft Foods warehouses in Fargo. From 1956 to 1966, he worked at the Moorhead Post Office. From 1967 to 1981, he worked for Twin City Construction. And, from 1981, until he retired, he was the manager of Parkview Terrace in Moorhead.
After Clayton retired in 1989, the couple continued to live in Moorhead. Clayton enjoyed all music, and sang in his church choir for many years. At church he also served as a sound technician, treasurer, and Sunday school teacher. He enjoyed woodworking, doing yard work, and bird watching and feeding.
In February of 2000, Clayton became a resident of the Minnesota Veterans Home in Fergus Falls, MN. Clayton died Sunday, May 29, at the Minnesota Veterans Home, at the age of 80.
Clayton is survived by his wife, Patty, Moorhead; a son, Kurt (Tammy) Sandeen, West Fargo, ND; two daughters, Kathy (Chuck) Theis, Montrose, MN, and Diane (Rich) Oakes, Nashville, TN; one granddaughter, Brianne Sandeen; and two sisters, Inez Eppler, and Violet Skarphol. Clayton was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Arnold; and three sisters, Mabel Haugen, Myrtle Haugen, and Pearl Kragerud.
