Justin Harvey, 18

Justin A. Harvey, 18, of Montrose passed away Sunday, Aug. 28, 2016.

He was born on March 19, 1998 in Johnson City, New York to Robert Harvey, Jr. and Kiley Hayes. Justin was a 2016 graduate of Maple Lake High School. He played football and participated in track. Justin enjoyed hanging out with his friends, sketching and playing video games.

Justin is survived by: his parents, Robert and Kiley; sister, Desiree Harvey; and many other family and friends.

Memorial service will be at noon on Friday, Sept. 2 in the United Methodist Church of Montrose. Gathering of family and friends will be on Friday from 10 a.m. to noon at the church.

Arrangements are by the Iten Funeral Home, Delano.

Wayne Loeffler, 70

Wayne Allen Loeffler, 70, of Rockford passed away Aug. 26, 2016.

Wayne was born the son of Delbert and Edna (Vergin) Loeffler in Loretto, Minn. on March 21, 1946.

He is survived by: wife, Gail; children, Amanda (Mike) Ormsbee, Cassandra (Ciaran) Loeffler-Hahessy and Kyle Dobson; grandchildren, Rachel, Allen, Jacob, Evan, William, and Jayden; sister, Dianna (Butch) Meyer; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Memorial services for Wayne will be held Thursday, Sept. 8, 7 p.m., at the Peterson Chapel in St. Michael. Visitation will also take place on Thursday from 4 p.m. until the time of the service at the funeral chapel. Officiating is Pastor Paul Schuler from Salem Lutheran Church in Greenfield, Minn. Reception to be held at a later date in Buffalo American Legion Post 270.

Roger Riesgraf, 92

Roger W. Riesgraf, 92, of Maple Lake died Sunday, Aug. 28, 2016 at Quiet Oaks Hospice in Saint Cloud surrounded by family members, after a long battle with pancreatic cancer.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 1 at St. Timothy Catholic Church, Maple Lake with Fr. John Meyer as the Celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Timothy Catholic Cemetery. Visitation was scheduled from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday and 9-10 a.m. Thursday, both at Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Maple Lake. Parish Prayers were planned at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral chapel.

“Grandpa Roger” was a dearly loved and irreplaceable person in the lives of his family, who cannot put into words how much he will be missed. A kind, gentle soul who always put others first, he is cherished beyond measure as one who loved being with his family at the cabin, golfing with his grandkids and reading stories to his great-grandchildren.

In Maple Lake, Roger served as the Superintendent of Schools for 26 years. He was a leader in the community, as well as the school system, serving in the Lions Club and other civic and church activities.

He graduated from Mankato State, where Roger met Mary Ann (Mitzi) Dickmeyer of Fairfax, his wife of 60 years. Roger’s career in education also included serving as a physical education teacher, history teacher, football coach, school bus driver, and Principal at both Hackensack and Eden Valley schools.

Roger William Riesgraf was born in Carver, Minn. to Mathias J. and Mary C. (Dietz) Riesgraf. A farm boy, he graduated from Chaska High School and was named to the All-Conference team in football and was voted Most Valuable Player on the baseball team three consecutive seasons at Mankato State.

When World War II broke out, he enlisted in the Army and was assigned to the 788th Amphibian Tractor Battalion. His unit landed soldiers for the first wave invasions of Leyte and Okinawa. He served with distinction and was discharged as a Technician Five with three overseas service bars.

Roger is survived by: his children, William of Maple Lake, Elizabeth Riesgraf-Wyman, M.D. (Dick Wyman) of St. Cloud, Patrice (Len) Curtiss of Grand Rapids, Robert (Mary) of Becker, Susan (Dave) Anderson of Maple Grove, and Jennifer (Steve) Eichten of Mounds View; 12 grandchildren, Jason, Sarah, Anne, Robert, Daniel, Joseph, Matthew, Christopher, Ellen, Steven, Carlene, and Andrew; 11 great grandchildren, Zachary, Julia, Mary, Luke, Eve, Henry, Ellie, Elias, Benjamin, Abigail, and Esther; brother, Matt (Margo) of New Brighton; and sister-in-law, Emmy of Kalamazoo, Mich.

He was preceded in death by: his parents, Mathias and Mary Riesgraf; wife, Mitzi on June 18, 2010; sister, Marion Lano; brothers, Jim, Robert and Francis; and a stillborn sister.

The casket bearers will be: Dan and Joe Curtiss, Matt and Chris Riesgraf, Robert and Jason Wyman, Steve Anderson, and Andrew Eichten. The lectors will be Sarah Sprengeler and Annie Gucinski, and the gift-bearers will be Carly Eichten and Ellen Anderson.

Arrangements are entrusted with Dingmann Funeral Care Burial & Cremation Services of Maple Lake.

Yvonne Steinbach

Yvonne L. Steinbach of Watertown, Minn. passed away on July 18, 2016 at Elim Nursing Home in Watertown.

Yvonne was born in Forest Township, Rice County, Minn., the daughter of John J. and Lillian C. (Madsen) Vangen. She attended school in Northfield and graduated from Northfield High School. She then continued her education and graduated from Minnesota School of Business.

Yvonne married Al Steinbach at St John's Lutheran Church in Northfield.

She retired from Aetna as a Workers Comp Claim Adjuster. During her career, she earned the Insurance Industry Designation of CPCU. One of her joys was doing all the baking and cooking for her family's holiday gatherings. She also enjoyed her garden and flower gardens.

She is survived by: her husband of 54 years, Al; daughters, Cindy (Larry), Cheryl (Scott) and Connie; grandchildren, Rachel, Jessica, Daniel, Jill, Alex, and Isaac; 3 great-grandchildren; and sister, Marilyn (Roger). She was preceded in death by her parents and a grandson, Matthew.

A private service is being held at a later date.

Leonard Van Lith, 90

Leonard H. “Wimpy” Van Lith, 90, of Loretto passed away July 30, 2016.

He was born on Jan. 10, 1926 in Milbank, S.D. to Martin, Sr. and Gertrude (Croymans) Van Lith.

Wimpy served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a member of Delano American Legion Post 377 and also a past member of the Loretto Fire Department. He enjoyed woodcarving, hunting and fishing.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; brothers, Martin, Cornelius, Frederick, Arthur, and Lambert; and sisters, Martha Wandersee, Dorothy Adicks, Irene Wandersee, and Gertrude Hanson.

He is survived by: his wife of 61 years, Mickey; son, Rick (Ann); grandchildren, Katie (Adam) Fernholz and John (Rachel) Van Lith; great-granddaughters, Briella and Lauren Fernholz and Charlotte Van Lith; and many nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial is taking place at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 5 in Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Loretto. Visitation is planned on Thursday from 4-8 p.m., with a 7:30 p.m. prayer service, at the Iten Funeral Home in Delano. Visitation continues Friday, 10-11 a.m., at the church prior to the Mass. Interment with Military Honors will be in the church cemetery.

Arrangements are by the Iten Funeral Home, Delano.

Daniel Peterson, 59

Daniel H. Peterson, 59, of Buffalo, Minn. passed away peacefully on June 23, 2016 at the University of Minnesota Hospital after a long battle with chronic illness.

His passions were his granddaughters, fishing, hunting, traveling, history, gardening, and the outdoors. Dan spent his career in the information technology field as a consultant for numerous companies.

He will be deeply missed by: his wife, Sally; children, Mark Doberstein, Kevin Doberstein, Carrie Doberstein, and Brian Doberstein; and granddaughters, Madeline, Maycee and Presley.

A private service will be held at a later date.

Marjorie Salonek, 81

Marjorie T. “Marge” Salonek, 81, of Montrose passed away unexpectedly Saturday, June 25, 2016.

She was born on Oct. 13, 1934 in Breckenridge, Wilkin County, Minn. to James and Reyne (Langston) Fredericks.

Marge attended Delano High School and married Leo Salonek. She loved living on the farm. She also loved to cook and bake and sharing it with her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by: her husband, Leo; son, Steve; daughter, Carrie; and siblings, Norman Fredericks, Dave Fredericks and Marilyn (Lyle) Gast.

She is survived by: sons, Jeff (Kim) and Tim (Patty); eight grandchildren, Shawn (Barbie) Gavin, Angie Salonek, Diana Wriesener, Steve (Christina) Salonek, Phillip Salonek, Terry Eischens, Randy Eischens, and Stephanie Duncan; ten great-grandchildren, Logan Larson, Madison Salonek, Dempsey Duncan, Leila Salonek, Gavin Salonek, Stella Salonek, Dilahana Larson, Axel Swedlund, Riley Dye, and McKenna Dye; adopted son, Kenneth Baumann; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Paul Salonek, Urb (Rose) Salonek, Ann (George) Lambrecht, and Jean Salonek.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, July 1, 11 a.m., at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Watertown. Visitation will be Thursday, 4-8 p.m., and continues Friday, 10-11 a.m., prior to the Mass, all at the church.

Arrangements are by Iten’s Watertown Funeral Home.

Pearl Swanson, 84

Pearl Pauline Psyk Swanson, 84, of Buffalo went to be with the Lord on June 20, 2016, 20 days from being married 55 years.

Pearl suffered with MS for 53 years. Death was the result of a massive brain bleed caused by an accidental fall.

She is survived by: her husband, Roger; son, Jack; daughter, Cindra; son, Adam; also many, many wonderful grandchildren and even more great-grandchildren.

Pearl was preceded in death by: her father, Mathew Psyk Jr.; mother, Florence Belle (Long) Psyk; daughter, Glory Bea Otten; stepson, Todd Swanson; step-grandson, Todd Swanson II; and brothers, LeRoy Psyk and Melvin Psyk.

I’m sure that God had the angels preparing a wonderful home for a wonderful person who has touched so many lives over these many years.

Please pray for her and our great country!

Funeral services for Pearl Swanson were held Thursday, June 23 at the Peterson Chapel in Buffalo. Father Nathaniel Meyers was the Celebrant. Interment was at St. Francis Cemetery in Buffalo.

The soloist was Mika Pittman. Casket bearers were: Douglas Psyk, Adam Swanson, Mathew Pittman, Steve Kramer, Chris Hegna, and Robbie Kobs.

Serving the family is the Peterson Chapel of Buffalo.
