Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 23 at Buffalo Community Assembly of God Church for Marlene L. Serfling, 56, who died April 14, 2016 at Lakeside Oasis Hospice in Buffalo after an incredible and courageous battle with cancer. Pastor Bill Hicks will officiate, and a private family burial will follow at a later date. One-hour visitation will begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday prior to funeral service at the church.

Following graduation, Marlene moved to St. Cloud, where she met Scott Dallman. The couple married in 1983 and had three beautiful children. Marlene was patient, supportive, caring, and compassionate, which enriched her abilities to be a stay-at-home mom and home school her two children before they attended public school. Marlene and Scott later divorced in 2004 and Marlene moved to the Buffalo community.

While working for the U.S. Postal Service, Marlene met Bob Serfling. They were married May 5, 2012 in Buffalo. Marlene worked for the Postal Service for the past nine years, enjoying all of her co-workers and customers.

Marlene was never seen without a smile. She enjoyed being out in God’s creation, camping, fishing, spending time with family and friends, traveling, and on occasion spontaneous adventures. Marlene was very loyal and selfless; she put everyone before herself, and her children were her top priority. Very important to Marlene was her faith and her relationship with the Savior Jesus Christ by letting her life reflect His glory every day and to be an encouragement and testimony to others. She was loved by many and will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

In October 2015, Marlene began the toughest battle she would have to face. Marlene was diagnosed with stomach cancer and stayed positive that the battle could be won. She fought courageously, but it wasn’t meant to be, so the Lord called her home on April 14, 2016. She was surrounded by loved ones at Lakeside Oasis Hospice.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Rachel Dallman (1991), her father, Ray Vos (2003), and mother, Marie Vos (2013).

Special thanks to Sherry Germo and Bev Lang for all the care given to Marlene during her battle with cancer. The family would also like to extend a big thank you to everyone who visited her while she was in hospice and the Lakeside Oasis Hospice staff, especially Kim Brehemer for her kindness and help given to the whole family during this difficult time.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
