Robert Wenger, 66

Robert “Bob” Raymond Wenger, 66, died on October 7, 2014.

He was born on Nov. 5, 1947 in Marysville, Ohio to Margaret and George Wenger.

He attended Marysville High School, where he played basketball. He graduated from high school in 1965.

On Dec 9, 1966, he joined the Air Force was discharged on Sept. 18, 1970.

While in the service, Bob met his future wife and married Irene on Sept. 19, 1970 in Rapid City, S.D. They then moved to Columbus, Ohio, where Bob attended Ohio State Technical College. In 1978, Bob and Irene moved to Minnesota and have resided in St. Michael since that time. Bob and Irene had two sons, Eric and Ryan. Bob worked for Quest 33 years and was currently working for Ulteig as an engineer.

He loved to hunt, fish and watch NASCAR. He loved spending time with his family and watching his grandkids at their sporting events. Bob was a handyman who never left a project unfinished, and Irene made sure of that. He also had a passion for woodcarving. He was a lifelong member of the Catholic Church. Bob was a hardworking, selfless man who did everything for his family and he would do anything for anyone.

Bob is survived by: his wife, Irene; sons, Eric (Mindy) Wenger and Ryan Wenger; and 3 grandchildren, Tyler, McKenna and Mya Wenger.

He was preceded in death by: his mother, Margaret; father, George; sister, Becky; and granddaughter, Morgan.

He did not feel that possessions made him a happy man, it was providing and caring for his friends and family that did. He taught his sons how to fix things instead of just buying a new one or taking it to someone else to fix. He was a role model who taught Eric how to be a dad.

Bob had a great love for NASCAR. All he had been talking about was winning the NASCAR fantasy week! With only 6 weeks left in the season, he has a 50 point lead and Ryan plans to ensure he keeps that win for his dad. He was a prominent figure at all of his sons’ games; no matter what the weather was, he still made it to every game and practice (outside in MN!). He always had a full “honey do” list and never disappointed his honey, Irene. He also found very true friends within his extended family. He loved spending time with them. He loved to talk to people, but when it came to emotions, he was more of a silent man. He chose to show his emotions through his actions.
