Ferne Bruhn

Ferne D. Bruhn, 85 of Buffalo died Wednesday, November 19, 2003 at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis.
She was born on July 7, 1918 in Rockford Township, the daughter of Henry and Marie Wandersee Ramthun.
She was baptized on August 11, 1918 at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Crawford Lake. Ferne was also instructed in the Lutheran Catechism and Confirmed in the Christian faith on June 17, 1934 at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church - Crawford Lake.
On July 24, 1937, Ferne Ramthun and Alfred G. Bruhn were joined in holy marriage in Detroit, Michigan. God blessed their marriage with a son Ron.
Ferne was formerly employed at Wonderalls.
She was a faithful member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Buffalo.
Survived by a son Ron (Sharon) Bruhn of Buffalo; grandchildren Jeff (Julie) Bruhn of Buffalo, Kurt (Jackie) Bruhn of Buffalo, Steve (Kim) Bruhn of Buffalo; great grandchildren Erin (E.J. Richard), Hunter, Shayla, Brady, Jordan, Crosby; a great great grandson Cayden; sisters-in-law Erna Ramthun Steenerson and Bernice Ramthun both of Buffalo; brothers-in-law Ralph (Mildred) Bruhn of Estero, Florida and Clarence Bruhn of Delano.
Preceded in death by husband Alfred on May 28, 1999; parents Henry and Marie Ramthun; five brothers and three sisters.
Funeral Services for Ferne Bruhn were held on Sunday at 2 p.m. at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Buffalo. Pastor Christian Bode officiated. Sandi Baert was the organist. Barb Miller, Kelli Miller and Dic Danielson were the vocalists.
Interment at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery - Crawford Lake.
Casket bearers were Jeff, Kurt and Steve Bruhn, Gary Vergin, Willis Miller and Dic Danielson.
A visitation was held on Saturday from 4-8 p.m. at the Peterson Chapel in Buffalo. Further visitation was held at the church one hour prior to the service. A prayer service was held at 7:30 p.m.
The Peterson Chapel in Buffalo served the family.

Janice Lysne

Janice Kay Lysne, 55 of Delano died on Thursday, November 20, 2003 at North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale, Minn. She was born April 28, 1948 in Sisseton, South Dakota to Maurice and Doris (Martenson) Johnson. On April 12, 1969, Janice was united in marriage to Richard R. Lysne in Wayzata, Minn.
Janice was a people person. She was known for putting others first. She enjoyed spending time with family, especially her grandchildren. No, was not in her vocabulary.
Janice was an avid volunteer, actively involved with the Delano Helping Hands, and the Food Shelf for 18 years, since its inception. She was the kind of person who would stay in the background, and never would take credit. If a family needed help, on December 24, she would drop everything and go and serve that family. Her needs were secondary. Jan's family was equally understanding of her need to care for others. Her hobbies included 4-wheeling and snowmobiling, especially if her grandchildren were involved.
Janice is preceded in death by her parents Maurice and Doris Johnson; her father-in-law Norman Lysne; and a brother-in-law David Lysne. She is survived by her husband Richard; daughter Lori and David Dobbelaire; son Daniel and Melissa Lysne; grandchildren Douglas, Nathan, Logan and Kayla; sister Nancy and Paul Schermeister; mother-in-law Lou Lysne; brothers and sisters-in-law Leroy and Janet Lysne, Sandra and Mike Oak, Dennis Lysne, Norma "Punki" Loomer, Vicki and Steve Scheer, Steve Lysne and Kathy Lynch.
Funeral services were held on Saturday at 3 p.m., November 22, 2003 at Our Father's Lutheran Church in Rockford. Visitation was held on Friday afternoon and evening at the Iten Funeral Home in Delano and continued on Saturday at the church for 1 hour prior to services. Pastor Charles Anderson officiated at the service. Casket bearers were Janice's nieces and nephews.

Vera Kehborn

Vera Evelyn Kehborn, 81 of Walker, Minn. formerly of Buffalo, died Thursday, November 13, 2003 at Woodrest Nursing Home in Walker.
Vera was born April 23, 1922 in Vega, South Dakota, the daughter of John and Josephine Stoll.
Vera attended school in Minneapolis. Following high school she became an executive secretary. She also taught "opera appreciation" for the Buffalo Community Education program. She was an active environmentalist.
Vera is survived by her daughter Judy Weiss of Walker; her son James Schauer of Knoxville, TN; granddaughter Mary Zahn of Walker; four great grandchildren; and sister Maybelle (Robert) Berg of Arizona.
She was preceded in death by her husband Henry, and her parents John and Josephine Stoll.
There will be a private family service for Vera in the spring.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by Thomas-Dennis Funeral Home of Walker.

Dorothy Brust

Dorothy Ann Brust, 55, of Fergus Falls, formerly of Delano, went home on Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2003 to be in the loving arms of the Lord after a yearlong, courageous battle with cancer.
She was born Oct. 6, 1948 at St. Francis Hospital in Breckenridge to John and Alice (Snyder) Frankl. She graduated from Colfax High School and then attended Wahpeton State School of Science, where she studied business.
On Jan. 24, 1987 she married Steven Brust at her family home in Delano. They lived in Delano until moving to Fergus Falls.
She will be best remembered for her love of fishing, her closeness with family and friends, being a loving and supportive wife and mother at all times, "lefse queen", and her love of helping out wherever she could, anytime she could. Her faith, love and friendship is an inspiration to all who knew her.
She is survived by: her husband and soul mate, Steven Brust; son, Jon (Nicki) Brandenburg of Shakopee; daughter, Sarah (Andrew) Schumacher of Buffalo; stepdaughter, Becky Pollock; step-grandchildren, Brieanna and Stephanie Pollock and Brandon Hokkanen; sisters, Phyllis (Joseph) Busch of Barney, N.D., Alice (Donald) August of Tucson, Ariz., Ardyth (Richard) Roth of Northfield, Carolyn (Curtis) Lofgren of Hitterdal, and Donna Shorma of Wyndmere, N.D.; brother, Thomas (Inis Kay) Frankl of Colfax, N.D.; many nieces, nephews, cousins, uncles, aunts, friends, and her church families at Light of Christ Lutheran Church in Delano and First Church of the Nazarene in Fergus Falls.
She was preceded in death by: her parents, Alice and John Frankl; brothers, Lloyd and James Frankl, and sister, Marion Rosley.
Visitation was held Friday from 6 to 9 p.m., with a prayer service at 8 p.m., at the Glende-Nilson Funeral Home in Fergus Falls and one hour prior to the service at the church. Service took place 2 p.m. Saturday at First Church of the Nazarene. Clergy: Rev. Steve Hoffman. Burial: Private family burial in Fairview Cemetery at Wahpeton, N.D. Funeral Home: Glende-Nilson Funeral Home of Fergus Falls.

Mildred Bruhn

A memorial service for Mildred L. Bruhn (maiden name Treichler) is being held on Saturday, Feb. 28, 11 a.m., at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, 2929 County Road 136, St. Cloud (320-251-7821).
She died on Feb. 1, 2004 at the age of 84 in the Hope Hospice House, Fort Myers, Florida.

Ralph Habstritt

Ralph Franklin Habstritt, age 89, of Montrose, died February 12, 2004 at his home in Montrose. He was born July 8, 1914 in Maynard, Minnesota, the son of Charles and Lucina (Goff) Habstritt.
At the age of 5, Ralph moved to Montrose, Minnesota. On September 26, 1941 he was united in holy matrimony to Dorothy Brabec in Montrose, Minnesota. God blessed their marriage with 1 daughter.
Ralph served in the military from November 3, 1941 until January 4, 1946. He was wounded in action in Wintenberg, Germany on April 2, 1945, and received the purple heart. After his service to our country, he returned to Montrose and started farming. He farmed until 1970 when his health forced his retirement.
Ralph loved hunting, fishing and spending time with his 2 grandsons, Justin and Nathan. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy, daughter Nancy and Wayne Oberlander, grandsons Justin and Nathan, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held on Monday, February 16, 2004 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Montrose. Visitation was held Sunday afternoon and evening at the Iten Funeral Home in Delano. Rev. Robert J. Hellmann officiated at the prayer service and funeral services. Casket bearers were: Bruce Adickes, Gilman Bryant, Clyde Dalchow, Mitchell Klein, Dale Manson, and Mike Marketon. Military honors were provided by the Montrose VFW Post 1901.
Arrangements by the Iten Funeral Home of Delano, Minnesota.

Josephine Jenkins

Josephine Jenkins, 89, of Waverly died Saturday, February 14 at the Buffalo Hospital.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Josephine Jenkins (Mrs. Emery Jenkins) will be held on Thursday, February 19 at 10:00 a.m. at the Church of St. Mary in Waverly.
Friends may call on Wednesday, February 18 at Peterson Chapel in Buffalo from 5-8 p.m. A prayer service will be held at 7:00 p.m.
Further visitation will be held on Thursday morning, February 19, one hour prior to Mass at the Church.

Alvin Kettenacker

Alvin "Bud" Earl Kettenacker, 83, of Billings, MT passed away February 8, 2004 from complications of colon cancer. Formerly of Rockford and Watertown, MN.
Preceded in death by parents, 5 sisters, 1 brother and 1 son-in-law.
His is survived by wife Ruth of Billings, MT. Also daughter Janice (Ed Fahlstrom), Mound, MN, son Jerome "Jerry" (Janie) of Shepherd, MT. Grandchildren Jane Beise, Michael Beise, John (Kristin) Beise all of Mound, MN, and Tyrel Kettenacker of Shepherd, MT. Sister Gladys Sell of Delano. Also many other relatives and friends. There will be a Memorial service this summer in conjunction with family reunion in Minnesota. Memorials to the family or to the donor's choice.

Mary J. Leistico

Mary J. Leistico, 65, of Elk River died peacefully at her home on February 13, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born April 10, 1938 at Litchfield, MN, daughter of Anthony Jr. and Cecelia LeTourneau Byson.
She was united in holy marriage to Richard L. Leistico Sr. on March 23, 1957 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Elk River, MN.
Mary's life revolved around her family and friends. She enjoyed flower gardening, crocheting and bingo.
She was a faithful member of St. John Lutheran Church near Elk River. Mary was the past president of St. John Ladies Aid and also past president of the Christian Parents League.
Survived by sons Richard (Janet) Leistico Jr., Michael (Vicki) Leistico, Daniel Leistico and Kevin (Jennifer) Leistico all of Elk River, grandchildren Heidi, Richard III, ReAnna, Joseph, Jacob, Daniel II and Jonathan Leistico, a brother Robert Byson Sr. of Adrian, Michigan, Mother-in-law Ethel Leistico of Elk River, also by many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Richard L. Leistico Sr. on June 3, 1999, two brothers and a sister.
Funeral Services for Mary Leistico was held on Wednesday, February 18, at 1:00 p.m. at St. John Lutheran Church near Elk River. Pastor Bill Peiper officiated at the service. Nancy Pieper was the organist and Geri Schultz was the soloist. Interment was in Lakeview Cemetery, Burns Township. Honorary Casket Bearer was Joe Zerwas. Casket Bearers were Doug Mordal, Cliff Lawrence, Tom Lane, Lloyd Warner, Kevin Fosdick and Chuck Scherber.
The Peterson Chapel St. Michael-Albertville Funeral Home served the family.

Eugene C. Mingo

Eugene C. Mingo, 77, of St. Michael died Monday at Fairview-Riverside Hospital in Minneapolis.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Eugene Mingo will be held on Thursday, February 19, at 11:30 a.m. at the Church of St. Michael in St. Michael.
Friends may call on Wednesday, February 18, from 4-8 p.m. at Peterson Chapel St. Michael-Albertville Funeral Home.
A Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m.
Further visitation will be held at the Church on Thursday morning, February 19, one hour prior to the Mass.
The Peterson Chapel St. Michael-Albertville Funeral Home served the family.
