Gerald O'Donnell, Sr.

Gerald L. O'Donnell Sr., age 83, formerly of Okeechobee, Florida died Saturday, November 13, 2004 at Guardian Angels Nursing Home in Elk River, Minn.
He was born on June 10, 1921 in Forest Lake, Minn., the son of Martin Edward and Augusta C. Raitz O'Donnell.
Gerald honorably served his Country in the United States Army during W.W.II in the Pacific Theater. He was awarded a Bronze Star.
On June 4, 1943, Gerald L. O'Donnell and Dolores Marie McCoy were joined in holy matrimony at Fort Lewis, Washington. Throughout their married life, they lived in Wisconsin, Wyoming, Oregon, Minnesota and Florida.
Gerald worked at various jobs but his main vocation was as a self-employed carpenter/handy man. It was after retirement that he found his greatest joy, working for various volunteer activities. Gerald and Dolores, with the help of many other volunteers, founded and ran the St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Store in Okeechobee, Florida. He also worked with hospice, assisted with the Postal workers' food drives, the Salvation Army, Martha's House and the Association of Retarded Citizens (ARC).
Gerald battled with cancer for a relatively short period but continued to bring his sense of joy and laughter to all he encountered in his final days. Many thanks to the staff at The Guardian Angels Nursing Home in Elk River, Minnesota for the loving care they provided.
Mr. O'Donnell was a member of the Church of St. Michael in St. Michael, Minnesota.
Survived by his loving wife: Dolores O'Donnell; children: Kathy (Duane) Barthel of St. Michael, Gerald (Sharon) O'Donnell Jr. of Hollywood, Florida, Patricia (Tom) Cremers of Paynesville, Minn., Timothy (Debbie) O'Donnell of Douglasville, Georgia, Brian (Merry) O'Donnell of Elk River, Mary Lambert (Jim Pringle) of Clearwater, Bridget (Douglas) White of Columbia Heights, and Paul (Eddi) O'Donnell of Boca Raton, Florida; thirty grandchildren, fifty-two great grandchildren; brothers and sisters: John O'Donnell, Ruth Young, Betty Jensen, Joanne Nielsen, Ed O'Donnell and Dorothy Norton; nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends.
Preceded in death by a son: Michael Thomas O'Donnell on December 16, 1998, his parents, and by five brothers and sisters.
A Concelebrated Memorial Mass for Gerald O'Donnell Sr. was held on Tuesday, November 16 at 11:30 a.m. at the Church of St. Michael in St. Michael, Minn. Father Michael Becker and Father Leonard Siebenaler were the Concelebrants and inurnment followed at St. Michael Cemetery.
Readers for the Mass were granddaughters: Theresa Eicher and Leah Hyde. Mass servers were great grandchildren: Kasandra Barthel, Krista Barthel and Bryan Holland. Gift bearers were granddaughters: Jeannie Holland, Lorianne Ende, Anne Tiernan, Dawn Boraas, Lisa Dawson, Jamie Kolstad and Nicole O'Donnell.
Honorary urn bearers were grandsons: Keith Barthel, Kerry Barthel, Tim Barthel, Kelly O'Donnell, Chad O'Donnell, Ryan O'Donnell, Jarrett O'Donnell, Matt Fisher and Andy Fisher.
Memorials on behalf of Gerald O'Donnell to Guardian Angels Care Center, 400 Evans Street, Elk River, Minn. 55330.
A local Memorial Mass for Gerald O'Donnell will be held on Wednesday, December 8 at 11:00 a.m. at the Church of St. Therese in Buckhead Ridge, Florida.
The Peterson Chapel St. Michael - Albertville Funeral Home in St. Michael, Minn. served the family.

Clinton Duske

Clinton E. Duske, 81 of Montrose, died Tuesday, November 30, 2004 at his home.
He was born in Marysville Township, Wright County, Minn. on April 23, 1923 to Charles and Alma (Engel) Duske. He grew up in the Montrose area and graduated from Montrose High School in 1941. He served in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged. After his military service, he returned to the dairy farm.
Clinton was a lifelong member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Montrose where he was baptized on June 17, 1923 by the Rev. E.H. Bruns and confirmed on July 26, 1936 by the Rev. Alvin Leerssen. He was also a lifetime member of Wright County V.F.W. Post 1901 in Montrose.
Survived by: sisters June Bodin of Waverly and Shirley Bakeberg of Bloomington; loving friend and companion since 1986 Helen Brown of Montrose; brother-in-law Robert Olander of Richfield; many nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his parents Charles and Alma; sister Delila Olander; brothers-in-law Earl O. Bodin and Arthur Bakeberg; niece Carolyn Bodin.
Funeral services for Clinton E. Duske were 11 a.m. Saturday, December 4, 2004 at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Montrose with Rev. Robert J. Hellmann officiating. Visitation was from 4-8 p.m. Friday at the Peterson Chapel, Buffalo with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Interment was in St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery.
Honorary pallbearers were Clinton's many friends.
Casket bearers were Richard Bodin, Dennis Bodin, Jared Bodin, Charles Bakeberg, Joe Olander and Jim Olander.
The Peterson Chapel in Buffalo served the family.

Milton Hickman

Milton Hickman, 93, of Rockford Township, a longtime member of the Wright-Hennepin Electric Co-op Board of Directors from 1973 to 1991, died last Wednesday, Dec. 8, 2004 at the Park View Care Center in Buffalo.
Services are being planned by the Peterson Chapel in Buffalo.

Edward Zachman

Edward D. Zachman, 73, of Albertville died suddenly at his residence last Monday, Dec. 6, 2004.
The Peterson Chapel St. Michael-Albertville Funeral Home served the family.

George Libor

George Gerard Libor, 71, of Waverly passed away at home last Monday, Dec. 6, 2004.
Services are being held this Saturday, Dec. 11, 9:30 a.m., at the Iten Funeral Home in Delano.

Stanley Hohag

Stanley Stephen Hohag, known to many as "Tim, " was born June 5, 1920 to Fred and Mary (Steg) Hohag on their farm north of Waverly.
The outbreak of World War II saw Stan going to California to work in the Douglas Aircraft plant. While living in California, Stanley married Anna Marie Painschab, March 7, 1942. The young couple soon returned to Minnesota when Stan was drafted into the Army. Stanley was assigned to the China-Burma-India theater during the war, serving in the U.S. Army Engineer Depot Company.
Following the end of the war, Stanley returned to Waverly, where he continued to farm for many years with his brother Warner. Stanley semi-retired from farming in 1979, when his son Dean took over the dairy farm, although he continued to help as much and as long as his health allowed.
Stanley will be remembered for his hard work ethic, his inventive and mechanical skills, and his fine woodworking abilities.
As a younger man, when his health was good, Stan enjoyed dancing and bowling. He was a natural horticulturist, and took great pleasure in growing plants and landscaping. In his retirement, and declining health, he enjoyed feeding and watching birds, and doing jigsaw puzzles.
Stanley was an active member of the Charles Clausen American Legion Post 305 in Waverly, a longtime member of the Union Presbyterian Church in Waverly, and more recently, a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Howard Lake.
Stanley died peacefully at his home on December 4, 2004. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Anna; his children Karen Fadden, Ron Fadden, Kathy and Rick Workman, and Dean and Joan Hohag; his brother Warner "Steve" and wife Louise Hohag; his grandchildren Paul Fadden and Jolie Frederickson, Nick Fadden, John Workman, Luther and Holly Workman, and Jacob Workman; and one great grandchild Alexander Fadden.
He was preceded in death by his parents Fred and Mary Hohag; and by his brother and sisters and their spouses Chuck and Mary Hohag, Edna and Ralph Hjlem and Vivian and Harold Irwin.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, December 7 at 2 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Howard Lake. Pastor Myra Carroll-Pezzella officiated. Interment was at the Howard Lake Cemetery.
Music by: Patricia Munson, Nick Fadden and Jacob Workman.
Casket bearers were Nick Fadden, Jacob Workman, Paul Fadden, John Workman, Steven Hohag and Luther Workman.

Edward Crandall

Edward George Crandall, 84 of Buffalo died early Sunday morning, December 5, 2004 at the Annandale Care Center.
He was born on February 24, 1920 in Minneapolis the son of George R. and Laura Mairier Crandall.
He honorably served his country in the United States Army.
On August 19, 1950 Edward G. Crandall and Ruby E. Lundeen were joined in holy marriage in Red Wing. God blessed their marriage with a daughter.
Ed was formerly employed as a lather and later worked for the Wayzata School District.
He loved his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He also enjoyed fishing, old cars, eating hamburgers, steaks and popcorn and watching football.
He was a member of the Buffalo American Legion Post #270 and the Maple Lake V.F.W. Post #7664.
Survived by a daughter Susan (Jeff) Nothnagel; grandson Jeremy (Sherri) Nothnagel; granddaughters Jennifer (Carl) Carlson and Sara Nothnagel and fiance Eric Stemper; great grandchildren Jasmine Nothnagel, Cole and Caden Carlson; sisters Millie Mines and Lou (Dave) Snider; special nieces Kathy, Vicki and LouAnn; special nephews Klint and Kenny and Bobby and Terry; brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, other relatives and friends.
Preceded in death by his wife Ruby E. Crandall on September 22, 1986; parents George and Laura Crandall; an infant brother and a brother-in-law Ray Mines.
Funeral services for Ed Crandall were held on Wednesday, December 8 at 10:30 a.m. at the Peterson Chapel in Buffalo. Deacon Ronald Freeman officiated and interment followed at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
Special music was provided by Rolf Mohwinkel and he sang "Amazing Grace."
Friends called on Tuesday, December 7 from 4-8 p.m. at the Peterson Chapel. A prayer service was held at 7:30 p.m.
Honorary casket bearers were great grandchildren Jasmine Nothnagel, Cole and Caden Carlson.
Casket bearers were Jeremy Nothnagel, Sherri Nothnagel, Jennifer Carlson, Carl Carlson, Sara Nothnagel and Eric Stemper.
The Peterson Chapel in Buffalo served the family.

Clarence Koepp

Clarence E. Koepp, 87 of rural Hamel died peacefully Wednesday, December 1, 2004 at his residence. God rest his soul.
He was born on March 18, 1917 in Hamel the son of Paul L. and Amelia C. Hoffmockel Koepp. Clarence's father raised Percheron draft horses and as a young man he had to work very hard on his family's farm.
Clarence was baptized on July 29, 1923 at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church by the Reverend H.R. Klemp. He was also instructed in the Lutheran Catechism and confirmed in the Christian faith on April 13, 1930 at St. John's by the Reverend H.R. Klemp. His confirmation verse was Revelation 2:10 "Be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life."
On October 9, 1948 Clarence E. Koepp and Cordella Dorothy Ann Kothrade were joined in holy marriage at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Corcoran. The Reverend Erwin Schroeder officiated and God blessed their marriage with four children. Clarence had met Cordella at St. John's Walther League.
Clarence was a faithful, lifelong member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church. He was a past president and treasurer of St. John's young people's league. Formerly served on St. John's School Board, Church Trustee for six years and was a former treasurer of St. John's Debt Retirement Fund.
Clarence loved his farm! He was a longtime farmer/ dairyman and registered Holstein breeder with the "Della Acres" prefix. Through the years, he received many milk/ butter fat production awards from DHIA. He formerly served on DHIA's Board of Directors for thirteen years and served as president for seven of those years. Clarence also was a former delegate of Mid-America Dairymen.
Past Board member of Operation Round-up - Wright Hennepin Co-op Electric Association, former president of the Corcoran Senior Citizens, delivered meals on wheels until having total knee replacement surgery and belonged to CROSS (Christians Reaching Out to Social Service).
Clarence was a devoted husband and father. He was a very hard worker and always strived for perfection. His pastimes included old-time music, dancing, admiring beauty, especially flowers, nature, fireworks and Christmas lights. He especially appreciated a beautiful field of corn, a good herd of dairy cattle and a well kept farm.
Clarence loved to play cards, socialize with his many friends and enjoyed a good joke.
His many stories and memories of western Hennepin County will be missed!
He had good, simple words of wisdom based on the Bible and never compromised his beliefs. Clarence always had a good joke in reserve for people and people appreciated his wit and humor. His sharp mind worked like a human calculator. Even though he only had an eighth grade education, in six years in a little country schoolhouse, Clarence could figure an amortization table in his head and come very close to the exact monthly payment. He remembered phone numbers and dates until the end.
Clarence was loved and will be missed by many, including his children Marilyn P. (Matt) Mellenthin of Elk River, Diane M. (Douglas) Bermel of Hamel and Gerald C. Koepp of Isanti and friend Candace Richner; five grandchildren Erin (Bob) Kiersted and Jason Mellenthin, Jennifer (Ryan) Hamers, Jeffrey and Justin Bermel; three great grandchildren Reyden Hamers, Ella Kiersted and Matthew Munger and four step great grandchildren Mitchell, Matthew and Drew Kiersted and Reed Hamers; a sister Lucille Bolduc of Osseo; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Mary Ellen (Willis) Berndt of St. Michael, Vivian E. (Howard) Kuns of Maple Grove, Edwin (Marlys) Kothrade Jr. of Rogers and Charles H. (Lila) Kothrade of Baudette; many other relatives and friends.
His desire of wanting to be with his beloved wife Cordella, who died in 1996, has been accomplished. Clarence is further preceded in death by a son Duane Koepp in 1954; his parents Paul and Amelia and three sisters Alice Reinking, Irene Hanson and Luella Larson.
Funeral services for Clarence Koepp were held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, December 6 at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Maple Grove. The Reverend Steven C. Briel and Reverend Matthew P. Johnson officiated. Interment followed at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery.
Tiffin Fuhrmann was the organist for the funeral service. The 4th and 5th grade children's choir of St. John's Lutheran School sang "Children of The Heavenly Father." Congregational hymns were "Oh, Come, Oh, Come, Emmanuel, " "Once He Came in Blessing, " "Asleep in Jesus! Blessed Sleep" and "I'm But a Stranger Here."
Friends called at the church on Sunday, December 5 from 4-8 p.m. A prayer service was held at 6 p.m.
Casket bearers were John Kothrade, Justin Bermel, Howard Larson, James Kuns, Jason Mellenthin and Dale Herman.
The Peterson Chapel St. Michael - Albertville Funeral Home served the family.
