Roger Gerardy

Roger Gerald Gerardy, 80 of Montrose died on Sunday, October 10, 2004 at his home in Montrose. He was born November 16, 1923 to Matthew and Theresa (Odenthal) Gerardy in Heidelberg, Minn.
Roger lived and farmed in Woodland Township, near Montrose, for the majority of his life. He enjoyed traveling, camping, gardening and spending time with his family. He held a special place in his heart for his pets; two dogs Trixie and Sadie.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents Matt and Theresa; and a son-in-law Curtis Poppler. He is survived by his wife Mary Ann (Polingo) of 59 years and 8 months; daughter Joanne Poppler and son Jerry and Susan Gerardy; 9 grandchildren; Kathy and Brian Ottenstroer, Karen and Jeff Bergemann, Kristine Poppler, Kimberly and Luke Peterson, Kelly Poppler, Brian Gerardy, Lori Gerardy, Melissa Gerardy and Denise Gerardy; 4 great grandchildren Tonia and Tiffany Ottenstroer, Krystal Berry and Kevin Poppler.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, October 14, 2004 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Waverly at 11 a.m. Visitation was held on Wednesday from 4 to 9 p.m. at the Iten Funeral Home in Delano. Visitation will continue from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church on Thursday. Reverend Timothy Cloutier will officiate at the Mass with Mae Wannarka organist and the church choir providing music. Interment will be in the St. Mary's Cemetery in Waverly.
Casket bearers will be Roger's grandchildren Kathy Ottenstroer, Karen Bergemann, Kristine Poppler, Kimberly Peterson, Kelly Poppler, Brian Gerardy, Lori Gerardy, Melissa Gerardy and Denise Gerardy.
Arrangements by the Iten Funeral Home in Delano.

David Johnson

David L. Johnson, 60 of Delano died on Tuesday, October 5, 2004 at Methodist Hospital in St. Louis Park, Minn. He was born March 13, 1944 to Carl T. and Margaret (Solether) Johnson in Minneapolis.
David was employed as sales manager for Delano Sports Center, a position that he was in for over 25 years.
David was preceded in death by his mother Margaret. He is survived by his wife Jan; son Brian and his wife Charity; and daughter Lori Anne and Enoch Peterson; 5 grandchildren Cassady, Catja, Faith, Colton and Justin; father Carl and Irma Johnson; brother Lauren Johnson and sisters Sally and Gary Root and Francie and George Domstrand; as well as numerous family and friends.
Memorial services were held on Tuesday, October 12, 2004 at 11 a.m. at the Delano United Methodist Church in Delano. Gathering time was held from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church on Tuesday. Reverend James Beard officiated at the service.
Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers.

Charlotte Iten

Charlotte J. Iten, 66 of Delano died on Thursday, September 30, 2004 at Methodist Hospital in St. Louis Park. She was born April 7, 1938 to Leo R. and Theresa C. (Borgert) Reamer in Browerville, Minn.
Char was an active people person and volunteer. She was a graduate of St. Catherine's College in St. Paul, where she was active on the college governing board. Char graduated with degrees in education and library. Char went on to become the librarian at the Hopkins Jr. High School in the early 60s. In the mid 60s she left full-time education to raise a family.
Char was a past chairman of the local library board. She was involved with the start of the Great River Regional Library in Delano and was a current member of the Friends of the Library. Char served on the Delano City Council. She was active in St. Peter's Catholic Church and choir. Char was an active member of the GFWC (General Federated Women's Club), where she held positions on the national, state and local boards. Char was active in the start of the Delano recycling program, as well as the Delano Helping Hands/ Food Shelf. Serving as the food shelf executive director for 18 years. Char served on the Wright County Community Action board and was the recipient of numerous civic and church awards, including: Delano Citizen of the Year, WCCO Good Neighbor, the AETHNA award and most recently the Minnesota Food Shelf Excellent Director.
Char was preceded in death by her father Leo R. Reamer and infant sister Beverly and parents-in-law Edmund F. and Faye E. (Dann) Iten of Browerville. Char is survived by her husband James A. of 43 years; son Timothy and Cynthia of Watertown; grandchildren Leighton and Rachel Bender, Howard Lake, Kory Bender and Zachary, Edmund and Matthew Iten of Watertown; mother Theresa C. Reamer of Browerville; siblings Roger L. and Marjorie Reamer, Minneapolis, JoAnn and Douglas Josten, Sioux Falls, SD; many nieces, nephews, cousins and many, many friends.
Mass of Christian Burial was held on Tuesday, October 5 at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Delano. Reverend Michael Miller and Rev. Frank Wampach concelebrated with music provided by the Resurrection Choir and the Immaculate Conception Choir. Musicians were Margaret Groskreutz and Dr. Joseph Henry.
Casket bearers were Char's nieces and nephews. Interment was in the Calvary Cemetery in Delano.

Chris Grefsrud

Chris Thomas Grefsrud, 52 of Delano died on Monday, October 4, 2004. He was born March 1, 1952 to Cyril and Edna (Anderson) Grefsrud in Pelican Rapids, Minn.
Chris was employed as a pilot for Bemidji Aviation.
Chris was preceded in death by his father-in-law Jack Johnson and grandparents.
He is survived by his wife Virginia; sons Jeremy and Nathan; parents Cyril and Edna Grefsrud; brothers Karl and Lynna Grefsrud, Jon and Linda Grefsrud, Mark and Judy Grefsrud; sister Karen and Ken Swanson; mother-in-law Mary Kay Johnson and 10 nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held on Friday, October 8, at the Iten Funeral Chapel in Delano. Reverend Michael Miller officiated with Linda Grefsrud, keyboardist and congregational singing providing music.
Casket bearers were: Don Schug, Jim "Maynard" Moore, Scott Newgaard, Travis Grefsrud, Jared Grefsrud, and Alan Johnson. Interment services were in St. Mary's Cemetery in Waverly.

Harriet A. Johnson

Harriet A. Johnson, 92, of Laporte, Minn. died Monday, Nov. 29, 2004 at home.
Funeral services will be held this Thursday, Dec. 2, 2 p.m., at the Olson-Schwartz Funeral Home, Bemidji. Family will greet friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Sell Lake Cemetery, Itasca Township, Clearwater County, Minn.

Frank Raymond Wittenberg

Frank `Buster` Wittenberg, age 79, of Annandale died Wednesday, August 4, 2004 at the St. Cloud Hospital. His long journey through kidney dialysis has finally ended and he is at peace with the Lord. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 7, 2004 at Zion United Methodist Church, South Haven with Rev. Heather E. Klason officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, Annandale. Friends may call one hour prior to services. Arrangements were by Dingmann Funeral Care of Annandale. Frank Raymond Wittenberg was born June 26, 1925 to Frank E. and Lillian E. (Hinz) Wittenberg in Southside Township, Wright County where he lived most of his lifetime. He graduated from Annandale High School and was a farmer. Buster was a member of Zion United Methodist Church, Farmer`s Union, and Modern Woodman of America. He enjoyed woodworking and time spent at the Wright County Swappers Meet. He is survived by sister in law, Fern Wittenberg of South Haven; nieces, nephews & their spouses, Kathleen & Lyman Bodeker-Hull of St. Joseph, James & Karen Wittenberg of White Settlement, TX, Donna & Bruce Guggisberg of St. Cloud, Bruce & Kathy Wittenberg of Anchorage, AL, Darlene Randall of Shakopee; 15 great nieces & nephews; and many great great nieces & nephews. His parents, brother, Norman, and one nephew preceded him in death. The pallbearers will be Norman & Ryan Bodeker, Nick & Mike Guggisberg, Gordon Hesse, John Lebens, and Chad Wallebeck. Jamie Miller will be the organist for the service.

Lillia Laho

Lillia Mae Laho, infant daughter of Joseph and Kathryn Laho of Corcoran died Wednesday, November 24, 2004 at Abbott - Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis.
In addition to her loving parents, Lillia Mae is further survived by sisters and brothers: Leanne (Derek) Niemela of Buffalo, Kristin (Jason) Grangroth of Monticello, Douglas Laho of Buffalo, Denise Laho of Maple Grove, Keith Laho, Aaron Laho, Mathew Laho, Joshua Laho, Kirk Laho, Amanda Laho, Mitchell Laho, Kimberly Laho, Karine Laho and Kyle Laho all at home; grandparents Eric Laho of Brainerd and Bob and Miriam Jurmu of Plymouth; many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Preceded in death by an infant brother Martin Laho and by her paternal grandmother Lillian Laho.
Funeral services for Lillia Mae Laho were held on Monday, November 29 at 1 p.m. at the Peterson Chapel St. Michael - Albertville Funeral Home. Lillia's uncle Jim Jurmu officiated and interment followed at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens.
Casket bearers were Douglas Laho and Denise Laho.
The Peterson Chapel St. Michael - Albertville Funeral Home served the family.

Jean Melgaard-Vogel

Jean Melgaard-Vogel, age 88 years and 6 months, of Buffalo died on Friday, November 19, 2004 at Park View Care Center.
She was born on June 19, 1916 in Hassan Township, Hennepin County, the daughter of William H. and Marion B. Grant Hawkins.
On June 24, 1938, Jean Hawkins and Odin Melgaard were joined in holy marriage in Maple Grove. God blessed their marriage with two children.
Mr. and Mrs. Melgaard owned and operated King Gas Service in Buffalo for many years. Odin Melgaard preceded his wife in death on January 1, 1986.
On September 14, 1997, Jean Melgaard and Albert L. Vogel Jr. were joined in holy marriage at St. John's Episcopal Church in Hassan Township, Hennepin County.
She was a faithful member of Zion Lutheran Church in Buffalo and often volunteered at its Lutefisk dinner.
Jean was a longtime member of Galiee Chapter #53 O.E.S., a Past Worthy Matron and a Past Grand Chaplain of The State O.E.S. She volunteered for many years at the Wright County Retirement Center, for Meals on Wheels, for the Buffalo Chamber of Commerce, the Buffalo Rodeo, Buffalo Days and belonged to Buffalo Hospital's Auxiliary. Jean also was a recipient of a Paul Harris Fellowship Award from the Buffalo Rotary Club and received a Silver Spur Award from the Buffalo Championship Rodeo. In 1980, she and Odin were Buffalo's Honored Citizens.
Survived by loving husband: Albert L. "Al" Vogel; children: Gerard O. (Adrienne) Melgaard and Janis J. (Eldon) Olson all of Buffalo; grandchildren: Camille (Ian) MacCallum of Buffalo, Han Melgaard of Maple Lake, Stephanie (Mike) Shaffer of Shakopee, Leslie Anderson and Hunter (Dawn) Anderson all of Buffalo; great grandchildren: Tucker and Maxwell MacCallum and Andrew Shaffer; a step daughter: Mary (Bill) Feldman; step grandchildren: Michael and David; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Grace Hawkins, Leonard (Elsie) Melgaard, Doreen Melgaard and Helen Anderson; other relatives and many friends.
In addition to her first husband, Jean was preceded in death by her parents: William H. and Marion B. Hawkins, a son-in-law: Marlowe W. Anderson on September 10, 1994, a sister and two brothers.
Funeral services for Jean Melgaard-Vogel were held on Monday, November 22 at 11:00 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Buffalo. Pastor John P. Folkerds officiated and interment followed at Lakeview Cemetery.
Special music for the funeral service was provided by Karin and Dan Wickman, and Leslie Anderson.
Friends called on Sunday, November 21 from 4-8 p.m. at The Peterson Chapel in Buffalo. A Prayer Service was held at 7:30 p.m. and an Eastern Star Service was held at 7:45 p.m.
Casket bearers were Camille MacCallum, Ian MacCallum, Hans Melgaard, Leslie Anderson, Stephanie Shaffer, Mike Shaffer, Hunter Anderson, and Dawn Anderson.
The Peterson Chapel in Buffalo served the family.

Natalia McClanahan

Natalia `Nellie' McClanahan, age 50, of Annandale died Thursday, November 25, 2004 at Mercy Hospital, Coon Rapids.
Funeral services were held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 30, 2004 at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Annandale with Rev. David Doppenberg officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasantview Cemetery, Annandale. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Monday at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Annandale with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m.
Natalia Elva McClanahan was born October 13, 1954 in Salinas, CA to the late Jose B. and Natalia P. (Plascencia) Cortes. She married Francis `Joe' McClanahan on November 12, 1972 at Fort Ord, CA. She lived in Seaside, CA until moving to Annandale in 1983. She was a homemaker and enjoyed camping with her family.
She is survived by her husband, Joe of Annandale; 3 sons, Frank R. & his wife, Marta of Brainerd, Joseph R. of St. Cloud, Anthony A. of Annandale; 3 grandsons, Braden, Kayden, & Jaiden McClanahan, all of Brainerd; brothers & sisters, Frances Mays, Gloria, Joe, Ernest, & Edward Cortes, all of California.
The pallbearers will be Keith Johnson, Nathan, Tommy, Randy, Josh, & Ronny McClanahan. The arrangements were by Dingmann Funeral Care of Annandale.

Earl Tengwall

Earl R. Tengwall, age 66, of Delano died on Friday, November 26, 2004 at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis after a heart procedure. Earl was born August 1, 1938 to Arthur and Ruth (Roisum) Tengwall in Pillsbury township, Swift County, Minnesota.
A man well loved, he is survived by his wife Judy of 39 1/2 years, son Troy and Leslie Tengwall, and daughter Tracey and Jeff Litfin, grandchildren: Hannah, Ellis, and Aidan Litfin, sisters: Lila (Jim) Lundberg and Marge Shores, brothers: Elroy and Bunny Tengwall, Del and Colette Tengwall, and Virg Tengwall and furry friend Sadie. Earl was preceded in death by his parents Arthur and Ruth, and a nephew Scott DeVille.
Mass of Christian Burial was held on Wednesday, December 1, 2004 at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Delano, Minn. Rev. Michael Miller officiated with music provided by the Resurrection Choir and Margaret Groskreutz organist. Military honors were provided by the Delano American Legion Post #377. Pallbearers were: Derek Shores, Wade Shores, Kyle Tengwall, Ryan Tengwall, Mike Tengwall, Steve Lundberg, and Doug Lundberg. Interment was in the German Liberal Cemetery in Hamel, Minn.

Lois Klatke

Lois A. Klatke, age 71, of Buffalo died Saturday, November 20, 2004 at St. Joseph's Hospital in St. Paul.
She was born in Minneapolis on December 10, 1932 the daughter of Carl Edward and Evelyn Johnson Berg.
Lois was employed for many years in real estate sales and was the former longtime office manager of Burnet Realty and Edina Realty.
Through the years, she was very involved with the American Cancer Society. Lois was a past State Chairman of the Board of Directors of the American Cancer Society 1978-1979.
She was an avid doll collector. Lois also enjoyed fishing and reading.
Survived by loving companion and best friend: Philip L. Crandall; children: Mark Klatke of Denver, Colorado, Brad (Andrea) Klatke of Delano and Cindy (Jeff) Anderson of Buffalo; grandchildren: Luke Klatke, Kathryn Klatke, Ryan Klatke and Krystal Anderson; other relatives and friends.
Preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services for Lois Klatke were held at the Evangelical Covenant Church in Buffalo on Wednesday, November 24th at 11:00 a.m. Pastor Dennis L. Kolbrek officiated and interment followed at the Swedish Mission Cemetery.
Karin and Dan Wickman provided special music for the funeral service.
Friends called at the Peterson Chapel in Buffalo on Tuesday, November 23rd from 4:30-7:00 p.m.
Casket bearers were Mark and Brad Klatke, Jeff Anderson, Phil Crandall, Jeff and Lee McGary.
The Peterson Chapel in Buffalo served the family.
