Bonnie Curtis

Bonnie M. Curtis, 78 of Annandale, died suddenly Sunday, October 14, 2007.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, October 18 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Annandale. Reverend D.J. Lura will officiate and burial will be in Pleasantview Cemetery in Annandale. Friends called from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel in Annandale and one hour prior to services Thursday at the church.
Bonnie Mae Curtis was born June 10, 1929 in South Dakota to William and Clara (Wenzel) Schmitz. She graduated from Annandale High School, Class of 1947. Bonnie married Charles Curtis on July 2, 1955 in Mason City, IA. She enjoyed cooking, shopping and watching sports. Bonnie loved to spend time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband Charles; children: Chuck II (Mari) of Annandale, Rhonda of Chaska and Mark (Lisa) of Hopkins; son-in-law, Kent Andrews of Annandale; brother, Daniel (Shirley) Schmitz of Annandale; grandchildren, Christopher, Erik, Sonja, Mikel, Kenyan and Logan; great-grandchildren, Haley, Tyler and Dylen. She is preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Kimberly Andrews and brothers, Jesse and Howard Schmitz.
Pallbearers will be Christopher and Erik Walberg, Mikel and Kent Andrews, Sonja and Erik Hettinga. Honorary pallbearers will be Kenyan and Logan Curtis. Erik Hettinga and Orma Lou Jacobsma will provide the music for the service. Arrangements are entrusted to Dingmann Funeral Care, Annandale.

Joan Krecklau

Joan Krecklau, 55, of Buffalo passed away Tuesday, Oct. 9 in Minneapolis.
Otto and Eleanor Birkholtz, on March 12, 1952 in Hutchinson, Minn., were blessed with a daughter and named her Joan Agnes Birkholtz. Joan married Lyle Krecklau on April 8, 1972, and they were blessed with seven children: Curtis, Steven, Susan, Charlene, Shannon, Lisa, and Jeannette. Over the years, Joan developed a love for fishing, enjoyed completing puzzles, became an excellent cook, kept a neat home, and liked playing cards, especially King's Corner. She will be best known as a caring and open person who had a big heart to share. Joan has also been known for her love for her husband and family. She will be remembered as the one who danced and wrestled with her grandchildren and for her famous quote, "How fish are you deeping."
She is preceded in death by: her father, Otto Birkholtz; son, Curtis; brother, Cletus; and father and mother-in-law, Lawrence and Irene Krecklau.
Joan is survived by: her loving husband, Lyle of Buffalo; children, Steven Krecklau of Aurora, Susan (Robert) Stone of Phoenix, AZ, Charlene (Doug) Scherer of Milwaukee, WI, Shannon (Amy) Krecklau of Rockford, Lisa (Ronnie Sebek) Krecklau of Monticello, and Jeannette (Kim) Parchem of Monticello; daughter-in-law, Robin Krecklau of Bismarck, ND; 16 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; mother, Eleanor Birkholtz; special family friend, Tim "Slimmer" Hance; brothers and sisters, Ervin (Suzy) Birkholtz of Motley, Mary Ann Niesen of Buffalo, Bernice Wiegand of Osseo, Marlys (Jim) Sobaski of Woodbury, Carol (Scott) Pell of Minneapolis, Rosey (Jerry) Jenkins of Waverly, Sally (Myron) Weege of Winona, Patty (Ralph) Bakeberg of Brainerd, Jimmy Birkholtz of Motley, Ralph (Sarah) Birkholtz of Pillager, Dale Birkholtz of Motley, Rita (Tim) Ambuhl of Winona, Paul (Linda) Birkholtz of Glenwood, Tommy Birkholtz of Montrose, and Joe (Janet) Birkholtz of Buffalo; and many nephews, nieces and good friends.
Visitation took place Friday, Oct. 12 from 5 to 8 p.m. at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Buffalo.
Funeral service for Joan was held Saturday, Oct. 13 at 11 a.m. in St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Buffalo. There was a one hour visitation prior to the start of the service.
The Peterson Chapel of Buffalo served the family.

Genevieve LePage-Lamb

Genevieve A. LePage-Lamb, 90 of Waverly, died on Thursday, October 11, 2007 at the Park View Care Center in Buffalo. She was born January 3, 1917 to Stephen and Mary (Knott) Karels in Roseau, Minnesota.
Genevieve was preceded in death by her son Allan; husbands Valtimere LePage and Gerald Lamb. She is survived by her sons, Ron and Karen LePage, Val and JoAnn LePage; daughter Linda and Dennis Miller; daughter-in-law Marcy LePage; 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial was held on Monday, October 15 at the Church of St. Mary in Waverly. Reverend Timothy Cloutier officiated with interment in the church cemetery.
Casket bearers were Genevieve's grandsons: Tom King, Steve LePage, Greg LePage, Tim LePage, Dave LePage and John LePage.

Clyde McGaffey

Clyde "Joe" McGaffey, 91, of Buffalo died last Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2007 at the Buffalo Hospital.
A visitation is taking place this Saturday, Oct. 20, 10 a.m., one hour prior to services at the Peterson Chapel in Buffalo. Interment: Lakeview Cemetery in Buffalo.

Ella Melinsky

Ella Matilda (nee Koepke) Melinsky, 85, went to be with her Lord on October 12, 2007. She resided at Lake Ridge Care Center in Buffalo.
Ella was born May 12, 1922 in Albion Township, Wright County, to Reinhold and Alvina (nee Sandman) Koepke.
She was baptized on June 11, 1922 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Middleville Township. Ella was instructed in the Lutheran Catechism and confirmed in the Christian faith on April 26, 1936 by Pastor W.D. Kanning. Her confirmation memory verse was Revelation 3:20.
On May 12, 1946 Ella and Everett Melinsky were joined in holy marriage at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Middleville Township. Pastor J. Klausmeier officiated their union. Their marriage was blessed with two children.
Ella was a lifelong member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church were she taught Sunday School and served the church in many ways.
Ella was a homemaker, who also worked side by side with her husband Everett on the family farm. She dearly loved her family and enjoyed gardening and her beautiful flowers.
She will be greatly missed by her children: daughter, Audrey (Dennis) Bowles of Duluth and son, Rod (LoAnn) Melinsky of Aberdeen, SD; grandchildren: Greg (Carey) Bowles of Becker, Jennifer (Mike) McPherson of Duluth, Denise (Paul) Eisenmenger and Nick Melinsky all of Winnebago, Heather (Ben) Madsen of Fairmont, Lindsey (Tyson) DeHoet of Aberdeen, SD, Whitney Rea of Berkeley, CA; great-grandchildren: Frances Anne Bowles, Scott Everett Bowles, Noah William McPherson, Jacob Daniel McPherson, Alandra Lea Eisenmenger, Addisen Mae Eisenmenger, Ethan Benjamin Madsen, Dacotah Marie DeHoet and Brodyn Ty DeHoet; sister, Erna Steenerson of Buffalo; sister-in-law, Frances Rowe of Grand Rapids; brother-in-law, Lester Uecker of Maple Lake; nieces, nephews, relatives and special friends.
Ella will be joined in Heaven by her husband; parents; sister, Leona and brother, Arnold.
The visitation was held on Tuesday from 5-8 p.m. at the Peterson Chapel, Buffalo with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Visitation resumed at church one hour before the funeral. Funeral services took place at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, October 17 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Middleville Township with Pastor Lynn Machula officiating. The organist was Ruth Goerke and Alex Smoot sang the solo, "Nearer My God To Thee." The congregation sang "The Old Rugged Cross" and "What A Friend We Have in Jesus."
The casketbearers were grandsons: Greg Bowles, Nick Melinsky, Paul Eisenmenger and Ben Madsen; nephews: Al Woyke and Darrell Uecker. Interment at Howard Lake Cemetery.
We pray for God's blessings on those who have shared in Ella's life. We are grateful for your memories.

Carrie Peterson

Carrie M. (Williams) Peterson, 29 of Norwood, died on Thursday, October 11, 2007 at the University of Minnesota Fairview Hospital. She was born December 6, 1977 to James and Dianne Williams in Waconia, Minnesota.
Carrie was preceded in death by her grandparents George Williams, Martha Dolan and Cliff Williams; father James Williams; stepfather Roger Dobratz. She is survived by her husband Joe; children Hailey, Raeven and Montana; other Dianne Dobratz; sisters Denise and Kevin Dokken, Cheryl Williams and friend Christopher Johnson; grandparents Alyse Williams, Gigi and Tim Swenson, Raymond and Ruth Peterson, Harlan and Carolyn Dobratz; great-grandmother Vernice Narr; parents-in-law Mike and Cindy Peterson; sister-in-law Ashley Peterson; niece and nephew Nicole and David; as well as many other relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 19 at 5 p.m. at the Norwood/ Young America Pavilion, Central and Main in NYA. Gathering of family and friends will be from 4 to 8 p.m. before and after the memorial service at the pavilion.

Betty Prestidge

Betty June Prestidge, 73, of Montrose died last Monday, Oct. 15, 2007 at the Park View Care Center in Buffalo.
Funeral arrangements are pending at the Peterson Chapel in Buffalo.

Esther Schlueter

Esther Emelia Sabrowsky Schlueter, 87 of Fridley and formerly of Buffalo, died Monday, October 8, 2007 at her residence.
She was born on August 22, 1920 in Albany, the daughter of Fredrick W. and Mabel Buth Sabrowsky.
Esther was baptized in October of 1920 at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in Farming Township, rural Albany by The Reverend Knaus. She was also instructed in the Lutheran Catechism and confirmed in the Christian faith in April of 1934 by The Reverend Carl Rohe. Her confirmation memory verse was John 3:16.
On October 6, 1945, Esther E. Sabrowsky and Arthur R. Schlueter were joined in holy marriage at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in Farming Township, rural Albany. God blessed their marriage with three daughters.
Esther was a faithful member of the Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod and belonged to Family of Christ Lutheran Church in Ham Lake, Minn.
Esther spent most of her working years at Wonderalls in Buffalo. After retirement, she was busier than ever doing professional sewing, babysitting for family and friends, and working for Mert and Bonnie Thompson at The Buffalo Nickel. She was an avid baker and supplied the shop with all of her goodies. She will be deeply missed.
Survived by loving daughters: Diane Nadeau of Anoka and Donna (Duane) Bodin of Buffalo; son-in-law Bill Haynes of Tennessee; grandchildren: Gary (Lisa) Cochran, Bryan (Brenda) Cochran, Jody (Dan) Lomax, Casey (Marcy) Bodin and Cory (Marie) Backlund; step-grandson Joey; great-grandchildren: Kolby Backlund, Alex Lomax, Mitchell Bodin, Tyler Haynes, Bradan Cochran and baby Bodin (Casey and Marcy); three brothers, two sisters, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
Preceded in death by her loving husband Art Schlueter on November 8, 2003; a daughter Nancy and by a grandson Jason; her parents; a brother Alfred Sabrowsky and a sister Hildegard Shadbolt.
Funeral services for Esther Schlueter were held on Thursday at 11 a.m. at Family of Christ Lutheran Church in Ham Lake. Pastor Dennis Perryman officiated. Interment Hillside Cemetery in Minneapolis.
Friends called on Wednesday, October 10 from 4-7 p.m. at the Peterson Chapel in Buffalo. A prayer service was held at 5:30 p.m.
Honorary casket bearers were Bill Haynes, Lisa Cochran, Brenda Cochran, Marcy Bodin, Alex Lomax, Kolby Backlund, Mitchell Bodin, Tyler Haynes and Bradan Cochran.
Casket bearers were Jody Lomax, Gary Cochran, Bryan Cochran, Casey Bodin, Dan Lomax, Cory Backlund and Duane Bodin.
God bless you mom and grandma. We love you.

James Smith

James E. Smith, 59 of South Haven, died Sunday, October 14, 2007 after a heroic four year battle with the side effects of leukemia.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, October 19 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Annandale with Rev. Marilee Benson officiating. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Thursday at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel in Annandale and one hour prior to the services Friday at the church. Prayer service will be at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
James Ellsworth Smith was born June 24, 1948 in St. Cloud to Forrest and Evelyn (Ferrier) Smith. He graduated from Annandale High School in 1966 and from St. Cloud State University in 1969 with a Bachelor of Science degree in biology.
Jim married Sally Hahn on November 27, 1970 in Litchfield. He worked as a Conservation Officer with the Minnesota DNR for 33 years, retiring in 2003 as a Lieutenant.
Jim was active in many local lake associations and law enforcement organizations. He was a true steward of the environment, rescuing many orphaned and injured animals and practicing recycling before it was common. Jim also served as a mentor to many younger DNR officers; he taught firearm and snowmobile safety classes.
His greatest love was spending time with his family, especially his daughters and granddaughter.
Jim is survived by his wife Sally; daughters, Tara (fiance, Bryan Thompson) of Annandale and Leah (Jamie) Allman of Brooklyn Park; granddaughter Sylvia Allman; sister Ann (Michael) Carter of Minneapolis; many nieces, nephews and cousins. His parents preceded him in death.
Sharon Planer will provide the music for the service. Arrangements are entrusted to Dingmann Funeral Care, Annandale.
