Viola Thompson

The funeral for Viola R. Thompson, 86 of Racine, Minn. was held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, December 18 at the United Methodist Church in Racine. Reverend Rob Kopp officiated and burial took place in Hamilton Cemetery in rural Racine. Mrs. Thompson died Saturday, December 15, 2007 at her home of natural causes.
Viola Ruth Lowrie was born December 22, 1920 in Pleasant Grove Township, Minn. She grew up on the family farm and attended rural school. She was married on July 4, 1941 in Rochester to Elmer Thompson. Following their marriage the couple lived in Racine and moved to Texas after Mr. Thompson entered the U.S. Army. When he was deployed overseas, Mrs. Thompson returned to Racine and was joined by her husband following his discharge.
She was a longtime employee at Libby, McNeil and Libby, now Senaca Foods, until her retirement in 1985. Mr. Thompson owned and operated Thompson Well Drilling and Plumbing in Racine. He died in January of 1994.
Mrs. Thompson was a longtime member of the Racine United Methodist Church and its Ruth Circle and United Methodist Women's group. She was an avid quilter and enjoyed flower gardening, cooking, baking and camping with her family.
Survivors include two daughters - Marguerite "Muggs" Wolfgram of Wykoff, Minn and Marilyn "Chic" (Dick) DeGeus of Racine; two sons - Loren (Judy) Thompson of Buffalo and Gene (Pam) Thompson of Rugby, N.D.; 17 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; a sister - Lorraine Hansen of Rochester. She was preceded in death by her husband; an infant daughter - Marjorie; a sister - Edith Lowrie; three brothers - Jim, Ed and Levern Lowrie.
Friends called from 4 to 8 p.m. on Monday, December 17 at Griffin-Gray F.H. in Stewartville and one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday morning.
Griffin-Gray Funeral Home handled the arrangements.

Robert Winters

Robert R. Winters, 53 of Waverly, died Sunday, December 9, 2007 at his residence.
He was born on February 19, 1954 in Mason City, Iowa the son of Marvin and Alice Gunter Winters.
He was baptized at Bethel Chapel in Clear Lake, Iowa.
Following his graduation from high school he attended North Hennepin Vocational School in Eden Prairie, Minn. for electrical wiring. He was employed for the past twenty-two years by N & A Hoffman in Waconia. He served as their property manager.
On September 10, 1983, Robert R. Winters and Patricia "Patty) (nee Brady) were joined in holy marriage in Mason City, Iowa.
He moved to Montrose, Minn. in 1985 from Mason City and later moved to Waverly.
He was a former member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Mason City and belonged to St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Montrose.
Survived by his loving wife Patty Winters of Waverly; three sons: Chad Dority of Waverly, Jason Dority of Montrose and Rickey Winters of Waverly; a grandson Dylan; his parents Marvin and Alice Winters of Mason City; four brothers Larry (Donna) Winters of Godfrey, Illinois, Bryan (Karen) Winters of Sun City, California, Kirk (Carol) Winters of Rockford, Iowa and Rory (Deb) Winters of Mason City; other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Robert Winters were held on Thursday, December 13 at 2 p.m. at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Montrose. Pastor Robert Hellmann officiated. Interment Riverside Cemetery in Rockford, Iowa.
Friends called on Wednesday, December 12 from 4-8:30 p.m. at The Peterson Chapel in Buffalo. A prayer service was held at 8 p.m.
Additional services for Robert Winters were held on Saturday, December 15 at 2 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Rockford, Iowa. Pastor Patricia Shaw officiated.
Honorary casket bearer was Chad Dority.
Casket bearers were Larry and Bryan Winters, Jason Dority, Rory Winters, Zack Neil and Rick Winters.
The Peterson Chapel in Buffalo served the family.

David Zitzloff

David Lawrence Zitzloff, 52 of Delano, passed away suddenly on December 12, 2007 after a six year battle with cancer. He will be deeply missed by his loving wife of 33 years, Dorothy; sons Brad and Stacy and Steve; granddaughter Brooke; brothers Mark and friend Kaylene, Gary and Jeanne; sisters Jill and Bill Tetrick and Pam and Brian Diem; mother-in-law Irene Schell; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Marian McWilliams, George and Kay Schell, Marie Eklund, Wayne and Kay Schell, Carilyn and Raygene Moser; many nieces and nephews and countless friends. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, especially his beloved granddaughter Brooke.
Dave was a wonderful son, husband, father, grandfather, brother, fireman, co-worker and friend. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. Dave was a very active member of the Delano community. He served on the Delano Fire Department for 29 years, Delano Athletic Association, Park Board, City Council, Delano 4th of July Committee, Youth Hockey Association, church council and coordinated along with his wife the youth baseball and softball programs. In 2006 he received the Delano Citizen of the Year award along with his brother Gary. He was employed by Bosch for the last 27 years. We will miss his one-liners, good stories and big blue eyes. His spirit lives on in the hearts of all who knew him.
Dave was preceded in death by his parents Arthur and JoAnn; father-in-law Alvin Schell; sister-in-law Marilyn Kanne; brothers-in-law Raymond Schell and John Ecklund.
Mass of Christian Burial was held on Saturday, December 15 at the St. Peter Catholic Church in Delano. Reverend Michael Miller officiated with interment in the St. Joseph Cemetery in Delano.

Lucille LaSota

Lucille Lehn LaSota, (nee Lindenfelser) of St. Michael passed away gracefully and peacefully surrounded by her children on June 21, 2008 at the age of 88.
She was born on July 18, 1919 in Monticello the daughter of Peter and Garnet Briere Lindenfelser.
On October 18, 1938 Lucille Lindenfelser and Roy Lehn were united in Holy Marriage at St. Albert's Catholic Church in Albertville. Roy Lehn preceded her in death in 1963. Lucille Lehn and Alois LaSota were later joined in Holy Marriage. Alois LaSota preceded her in death in 1975.
Lucille was a farmer's wife. She also worked for sixteen years at The Wonderall's Sewing Factory in Buffalo and sixteen years at Federal Cartridge in Anoka.
She was a faithful member of The Church of St. Michael, and belonged to its Christian Mothers. Lucille often led the Christian Mothers' Rosary and was a past treasurer of the St. Michael Senior Citizens.
Survived by daughters: Marilyn (Edmund) DeMars, Darlene (Doug) Hagel and Patty (John) Zahler; sons: Eugene Lehn and Gary (Gloria) Lehn; fifteen grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren; a brother: Archie (Veronica) Lindenfelser; sisters-in-law: Arlene Lindenfelser, Eveline Lehn and Alma Lehn; other relatives and friends.
In addition to her husbands, Lucille was preceded in death by her parents: Peter and Garnet Lindenfelser; brothers: LeRoy and Earl Lindenfelser and by a sister-in-law: Marilyn Lindenfelser.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Lucille Lehn LaSota was held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 25 at The Church of St. Michael in St. Michael. Interment followed at The St. Michael Cemetery.
Special music was provided by Mary Lou and Wayne Kolles, Rachel Kimmerle, Mona Martin and Margie Grabinger. Reader was Crystal Sayen. Gift bearers were Lindsay Hagel and Bradley Hagel.
A visitation was held from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, June 24 at The Peterson Chapel St. Michael - Albertville Funeral Home. A prayer service was held at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday evening.

Alfred Pouliot

Alfred E. Pouliot, 64 of Monticello, died Friday, June 27, 2008 in Big Lake.
Funeral services for Alfred Pouliot were held on Tuesday, July 1 at 2 p.m. at The Peterson Chapel in Buffalo.

Peter Poss

Peter Poss, 43 of St. Michael, died Thursday, June 26, 2008 near Kimball.
A visitation was held on Sunday, June 29 from 5-7 p.m. at The Peterson Chapel St. Michael - Albertville Funeral Home.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Peter Poss was held on Monday, June 30 at 11 a.m. at The Church of St. Michael in St. Michael.

Julie Steiskal

Julie Ann Steiskal, 29 of Maple Lake and formerly of Monticello, died accidentally Wednesday, June 25, 2008 near Two Harbors, MN.
Funeral services took place Monday, June 30 at 11 a.m. at the Church of the Open Door of Maple Grove. Interment at Lakeside Cemetery of Silver Creek. Visitation was Monday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the church. Funeral arrangements were with the Peterson - Grimsmo Chapel of Monticello.
Julie was born to Donald and Deborah (Spike) Steiskal in Minneapolis on July 28, 1978. She was currently on staff at Church of the Open Door in Maple Grove. She was passionate about her love for Jesus Christ. She enjoyed photography and taking photos of children.
Julie was preceded in death by her grandfather, George Steiskal; nephews Angel and Isaiah and niece Ashley.
She is survived by her parents, Don and Deb Steiskal; three brothers Joe (Kristi) and their sons Jack and Sam, Bobby, Ben (Tabitha); grandparents Ruby Steiskal and Arnold and Lila Spike.

Margaret Zachman

Margaret Elizabeth Zachman, 71 of Monticello, died Saturday, June 21, 2008 at her residence.
She was born on July 18, 1936 in Brownsville, Minnesota the daughter of John and Ceal Frein Bottema.
On May 18, 1957, Margaret Bottema and Kenneth Zachman were joined in holy marriage. The couple made their home on the family farm where they raised their children. Margaret was also a former receptionist at The Dental Center.
She was a faithful member of St. Albert's Catholic Church in Albertville and belonged to its Christian Mothers.
Margaret enjoyed the Red Hats and was an active volunteer. She was fond of quilting, spending time with her grandchildren and flower gardens.
Survived by loving children: Patty (Ken) Valen, Mike (Dawn) Zachman, Michelle Zachman, Mary (Todd) Vandal and Scott (Jeanne) Zachman and Cindy (Bill) Kisch; fifteen grandchildren and one great-grandchild; sisters and a brother: Bonita (James) Bemhoff, Bill (Linda) Bottema and Anne (Phillip) Firschmon; many other relatives and friends.
Preceded in death by her husband: Kenneth "Kenny" Zachman, an infant son: Michael Kenneth and her parents; two sisters and four brothers.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Margaret Zachman was held at 11:30 Wednesday, June 25 at The Church of St. Albert in Albertville. Private interment St. Albert's Cemetery.
A visitation was held at the church on Tuesday, June 24 from 4-8 p.m.
Honorary casket bearers were John Firschmon, Julie Meyer, Billy Bottema, Janelle Kowalkski, Mark Barthel and Sue Johnson.
Casket bearers were Sarah Valen-Davis, Joe Vandal, Abbey Valen, Kayla Vandal, Jared Zachman, Jesse Zachman, Vanessa Zachman, Chris Valen, Nichole Zachman, Matthew Kisch, Mitchell Zachman, Jennifer Kisch, Kaitlyn Zachman and Jonathan Kisch.
The Peterson Chapel St. Michael - Albertville Funeral Home served the family.
