Viola Augusta Miller

Viola A. Miller, age 85, of South Haven died Thursday, May 22, 2003 at her home.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 27, 2003 at Concordia Lutheran Church, Fair Haven with Rev. Norman Hanan officiating. Burial will follow in Fair Haven Cemetery. Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Monday at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Annandale and one hour prior to services at the church. There will be a prayer service 7:30 p.m. Monday.
Viola A. Miller was born October 26, 1917 in Fair Haven Township, Stearns County to Louis and Elsie (Schmidt) Markwardt. She married George M. Miller on December 14, 1941 at Concordia Lutheran Church and he preceded her in death on June 8, 2000. She was a homemaker and farmed with her husband near South Haven. Viola was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church and enjoyed gardening, bowling, her family, and socializing with friends.
She is survived by her two children and their spouses, Shirley & Ron Klein of Richfield, Larry & Karen Miller of South Haven; 5 grandchildren, James Klein of Eagan, Jeffrey Klein of Chaska, Melissa Fobbe of Annandale, Mark Miller of South Haven, Michael Miller of Scottsdale, AZ; 6 great grandchildren, Riley, Justin, Regan, Ryan, & Joshua Miller, and Preston Fobbe. She was preceded in death by her husband, daughter in law, Mary Miller, and brother, Leonard.
The music will be provided by Mary Ann Reichard, organist with congregational hymns.
The arrangements were by Dingmann Funeral Care of Annandale.

Howard Harry Leinonen

Howard H. Leinonen, age 87, of 7275 Jenkins Ave. NW, Annandale died Sunday, May 25, 2003 at his home.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Thursday, May 29, 2003 at St. John`s Lutheran Church, Annandale with Rev. Scott Jakel officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, Annandale. Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Annandale and one hour prior to services at the church. There will be a prayer service 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Howard H. Leinonen was born February 11, 1916 in French Lake Township, Wright County to Charles and Elivra (Lihavainen) Leinonen. He married Hyacinth C. Bergs on May 15, 1943 in Annandale and she preceded him in death on September 2, 1983. He enjoyed farming his entire lifetime in French Lake and Corinna Townships.
He is survived by his two sons and daughter in laws, Howard & Trudy of Casper, WY, Allan & Kathy of Annandale; five grandchildren, Jason & his wife, Jolene of Casper, Justin of Casper, Jennifer, Ricky, & Danielle of Annandale; two great grandchildren, Chase & Chance of Casper; three sisters, Helen Kangas, Beatrice Lehtola, & Mary Miller of Annandale. His wife, two brothers, and two sisters preceded him in death.
The pallbearers will be Howard, Allan, Jason, Justin, & Ricky Leinonen, and Brian Hoffman. Margaret Groop and Orma Lou Jacobsma will provide music for the service.
The arrangements were by Dingmann Funeral Care of Annandale.

Lillian Bacon

Lil Bacon, age 83, of Annandale, MN died Wednesday, May 14, 2003 at Methodist Hospital, St. Louis Park.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday, May 19, 2003 at St. Ignatius Catholic Church, Annandale with Fr. Ray Prybis, OMI officiating. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Sunday and 8:30-9:30 a.m. Monday at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Annandale. There will be a prayer service 7 p.m. Sunday. Graveside services will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 24, 2003 at St. Patrick`s Cemetery, Dickinson, ND. Memorials are preferred to the American Cancer Society or American Heart Association.
Lillian Bacon was born May 12, 1920 in Dunn County, ND to Jerry and Rose (Adamski) Kostelecky. She married Harold Anderson on February 11, 1956 and he preceded her in death on February 3, 1966. She married Merle Bacon on November 25, 1967 and he preceded her in death on January 3, 1987. She was born and raised in Dunn County, ND, lived in Dickinson from 1947-1968, then Battle Lake, MN until moving to Annandale in 1975. She worked for Parker Hannifin, Quick Coupling Division from 1977-1989 and was currently employed by the Annandale Firefighter`s Relief Association as a pull-tab booth operator at the Waterfront Bar & Supper Club. She was a member of St. Ignatius Church, Council of Catholic Women, and a 60-year member of Catholic Workman. She enjoyed friends, family, and gambling.
She is survived by children, Jerry Anderson of Annandale, Jocelyn Givens and her husband, Tom of Dallas, OR, Tom Anderson & his wife, Kellie of Ramsey, MN, Paul Anderson of Annandale, Tom Bacon and his wife, Barb of Pensacola, FL, Carol Olson of Hawley, MN; brothers, sister, & their spouses, Jerry & Lillian Kostelecky of Dickinson, Edwin & Mary Kostelecky of Dickinson, Mary Ann & Wally Loran of Detroit Lakes, MN; 12 grandchildren; and 9 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands; brothers, Taft, Lewis, Laudie, Robert, William, & Charles; and sister, Dorothy Kudrna.
Pallbearers will be Scott Picken, Maynard Nilson, Tom Givens, Tom Bacon, Rod Loran, and Jeff Kostelecky. Music will be provided by Dureen Gasser.
Arrangements were by Dingmann Funeral Care of Annandale, Minnesota.

Frances Barbara Cashman

Frances B. Cashman, age 85, of Maple Lake died Saturday, May 10, 2003 at Park View Care Center, Buffalo where she has resided the past 2 years.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday, May 12, 2003 at St. Timothy`s Catholic Church, Maple Lake with Fr. Mark Huberty officiating. Burial will follow in St. Timothy`s Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. Sunday with a 6 p.m. prayer service at St. Timothy`s Catholic Church.
Frances Barbara Cashman was born on May 31, 1917 in Wright County to the late George and Evelyn (Pribyl) Robasse. She graduated from Maple Lake High School in 1934 and teachers training in 1935. In 1947 she received her Bachelors Degree from St. Cloud State University and in 1955 a Masters Degree from the University of Minnesota. Frances was a school teacher from 1935-1982; teaching in County School #125, Medford, and Excelsior followed by 39 years in Austin. She married Clair Cashman on June 28, 1949 in Maple Lake; he preceded her in death on August 8, 1949. Frances was a member of St. Timothy`s Church, Council of Catholic Women, Royal Neighbors of America, and Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority. She enjoyed traveling, playing cards, and reading.
She is survived by her sister-in-law, Mary Alice Robasse of Wabasso; nieces, Margaret Jenniges of Blaine, Joan Peterson of Rosemount, Patricia Schaffran of Chaska; nephews, James Robasse of Bloomington, Charles Robasse of Wabasso; also many cousins. Her parents, husband, and brother, Edward Robasse preceded her in death.
The pallbearers will be James & Charles Robasse, Carl & Melissa Peterson, John Jenniges, and Wayne Schaffran. The music for the Mass will be provided by St. Timothy`s Resurrection Choir with Marge Pavlik, organist.
The arrangements were by Dingmann Funeral Care of Maple Lake.

Caroline Jean Loch

Caroline Jean Loch, infant daughter of Mark and Amy Loch, was born and died Friday, April 4, 2003 at the Buffalo Hospital.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 14, 2003 at St. Timothy`s Catholic Church, Maple Lake with Father Mark Huberty officiating. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Friends may call 4 - 7 p.m. Sunday and 9-10 a.m. Monday at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Maple Lake. There will be a prayer service at 6:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral chapel.
Caroline Jean Loch is survived by her parents, Mark J. and Amy E. (Kotilinek) Loch; sisters and brother, Julie Ann, Elizabeth May, Bonnie Clare, Veronica Marie, Emily Monica, Donna Cecilia, Matthew Mark, Bernadette Mary, Rebecca Susan, Rachel Rose, and Valerie Victoria; grandfather, Carl Kotilinek; grandmother, Mrs. Monica Loch, all of Maple Lake. She was preceded in death by grandmother, Clara Kotilinek and grandfather, Julius `Jule` Loch.
Arrangements were by Dingmann Funeral Care of Maple Lake.

Donald Alfred Rose

Donald A. Rose, age 72, of Annandale died Saturday, February 22, 2003 at home.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 26, 2003 at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Annandale with Rev. Arden Malotky officiating. Burial will follow in Our Saviour`s Lutheran Cemetery, French Lake. Friends may call 5-8 p.m. Tuesday and one hour prior to the funeral on Wednesday at the funeral chapel in Annandale.
Donald Alfred Rose was born October 17, 1930 in Danville, IL to Alfred and Ann (Mark) Rose. He married Patricia L. Keto June 30, 1951 in Minneapolis. Donald was a veteran of the US Army serving during the Korean Conflict. He was a salesman most of his life before retiring in 1992. He lived in Eden Prairie before moving to Annandale 10 years ago. The toughest battle of his life was the one he waged against cancer. For 3+ years his struggle was fought with courage and grace.
Donald is survived by his wife, Patsy of Annandale; sons, Tom (Mimi) of Tampa, FL, Jim (Diane) of Chaska; daughter, Annie Rose and her husband, Bob Hartshorne of Annandale; grandchildren, James Patrick, Julia, Jaclyn, Emily, and Angela.
Pallbearers will be James D. Rose, James P. Rose, Annie Rose, Thomas Rose, George Balch, and Paul Bredt.
Music for the funeral provided by Sarah Goelz.
Arrangements were by Dingmann Funeral Care, Annandale.

Donald Henry May

Donald H. May, age 66, of Annandale, formerly of Loretto, died Sunday, June 22, 2003 at Methodist Hospital, St. Louis Park after a brave battle with cancer.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 26, 2003 at St. Ignatius Catholic Church, Annandale. Burial will be in St. Peter & Paul Catholic Cemetery, Loretto. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday and 9-10 a.m. Thursday at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Annandale. There will be a prayer service 7 p.m. Wednesday.
Donald Henry May was born October 6, 1936 in Minneapolis to Roman and Rose (Bolduc) May. He was raised in Corcoran and graduated from Rockford High School in 1954. Don served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War and married Shirley A. Mengelkoch on February 14, 1956 in San Francisco. He was employed by Ford Motor Co., Minneapolis for 31 years, retiring in 1988. He was a charter and 30 year member of the Loretto Lions Club and a member of VFW Post 7968 of Apache Junction, AZ. Don enjoyed family, fishing, gardening, and winters at his home in Arizona. He was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Shirley of Annandale; 2 children, Doug May & his wife, Mary of Becker, Sue Albondante & her special friend, Allen Current of Crystal; 5 grandchildren, Doug May, Jr. & his wife, Connie, Josh May & his fiancé, Jamie Cox, Crystal Peterson, Eric Peterson, & Candice Albondante; 6 great grandchildren; father, Roman May of McGregor; sisters & their husbands, Margie & Lyle Marsyla of McGregor, Rosemary & Arthur Bauer of Maple Grove, Stephanie & Sid Hughes of Plymouth; brothers & sisters in law, Bob Mengelkoch, John & Barb Mengelkoch, Donald Mengelkoch, Joyce Beamish & her friend Dick, Steve & Rosemary Mengelkoch, Dan & Sara Mengelkoch, Mary & Dale McDonough; and numerous other relatives & friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Rose and brother, Melvin.
Arrangements were by Dingmann Funeral Care of Annandale.

Frances Arnell Finstad

Fran was born 12 ˝ pounds, a big beautiful baby, to Per Nickolas and Emma Olson Arnell on August 25, 1915, in Minneapolis, MN. She was Swedish, Christian, and the youngest of 6 children. She died at age 87 (almost 88), to stroke and related complications of pneumonia, at 2am, on June 11, 2003. She was in hospice at North Memorial Medical Center, in Robbinsdale, with her daughter, lori, when she passed.
Fran was excited to become an Aunt for the first time at age 9, to Kathleen. They were very close and Fran taught Kathleen to harmonize, as she loved music and shared this.
She was married for 61+ wonderful years to her surviving husband, Morris Alexander Finstad. She was the `best Mom there ever was` to Bradley, Donald, Susan Jean, lori, Gayle, John and David.
Fran was Grama to Jeff, Jennifer, Kimberly, Jeromy and Ron, Tom, Sandy, Janis and Jesse.
Fran was hard working, fun loving, honest, enjoyed cooking, loved her family and was loved by all who knew her. She knew much loss and sadness in her lifetime, but always looked for the good in difficult situations. She was so strong and brave through life and death and was a joy. She will be greatly missed by her most saddened, loving family and friends.
Private family graveside services will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery, Annandale, Minnesota.

John Eston Cross

Mr. John E. Cross Jr, age 79, of Annandale, formerly New Hope died Wednesday, June 11, 2003 at the Annandale Care Center.
Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 13, 2003 at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Annandale with Rev. Gary Partridge officiating. Inurnment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, Annandale. Friends may call one hour prior to services.
John Eston Cross Jr was born July 3, 1923 in Perry, IA to John E. and Myrtle I. (Bell) Cross. He married Arleta L. Barcus August 23, 1943 in San Diego, CA. John was in the US Marine Corps serving in both WW II and the Korean Conflict. He worked 33 years for the Chicago Northwestern Railroad; retiring in 1983 as a locomotive engineer. John loved his family, wildlife, and gardening. He has lived in the South Haven and Annandale area for the past 22 years; previously living in New Hope. He was a member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers Lodge #369, Minneapolis.
John is survived by his wife, Arleta Cross of Annandale; son, Richard (Linda) Cross of Maple Grove; sister, Doris (Bill) Barcus of South Haven; grandson, Richard E.Cross II of Carlos; niece, Teresa Wheeler and her children, Amy and Jeffery of Brooklyn Park. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Richard Cross.
Memorials preferred to Wright County Humane Society.
Arrangements were by Dingmann Funeral Care of Annandale.

Marvin Emil Birkholz

Mr. Marvin E. Birkholz, age 93, of Annandale died Tuesday, June 3, 2003 at the St. Cloud Hospital.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 9, 2003 at Zion Lutheran Church, Annandale with Rev. Thomas Queck officiating. Burial will follow in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens, Crystal. Friends may call from 3-7 p.m. Sunday at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Annandale and one hour prior to the funeral on Monday at the church. There will be a prayer service 6:30 p.m. Sunday.
Marvin Emil Birkholz was born October 30, 1909 in Lester Prairie to Emil and Emma (Lempher) Birkholz. On December 21, 1930 Marvin married Dorothea L. Heuer in Lester Prairie and she preceded him in death February 19, 1998. Marvin lived in Minnetonka where he owned and operated Oak Knoll Electric Plumbing and Heating from 1946-74. He has lived in Annandale since 1974 where he was a member of Zion Lutheran Church.
Marvin is survived by six children, Vernon of Seattle, Helen (Vic) Berggren of Hopkins, Darlene Rietz of Tucson, David of Seattle, Donald of Mora, Dorothy Hyde of Mountain Grove, MO; sister, Idella (Albert) Bahr of Waconia; 13 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Five brothers preceded him in death.
Pallbearers will be Terry and Sandra Berggren, Dean Birkholz, Nancy Birkholz, Monica Johnson, Keith Birkholz, Coleena Strain, and Marty Rietz.
The organist for the funeral will be Kathy Queck.
Arrangements were by Dingmann Funeral Care of Annandale.
