Hazel Helen (Nicka) Walberg

Hazel H. Walberg, age 89 of Annandale died Sunday, December 26, 2010 at the Annandale Care Center.
Funeral Services will be held 1:00 p.m. Thursday, December 30, 2010 at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Annandale. Pastor David Nelson will officiate and burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery, Annandale. Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday and one hour prior to services Thursday, both at the funeral home.
Hazel Helen Walberg was born November 12, 1921 in Middle River to Arthur and Emma (Alama) Nicka. She was united in marriage to Donald Walberg on September 28, 1940 in Minneapolis. Together, they lived in the Minneapolis and Annandale area until moving permanently to the Annandale area in 1985. Hazel worked as an assembly worker for International Paper Company in Golden Valley for many years. She loved to create rugs and sell them at craft shows; she did everything from cutting the material to setting up the loom and weaving the rugs. She enjoyed ice fishing and playing cards.
She is survived by her daughter & her daughter’s husband, Carol & William Barrett of St. Michael; sisters, Irene Ervasti of Annandale, Delores McPadden of Annandale and Dorothy Kotila of Cokato; sister-in-law, Dorie Nicka; three grandchildren & their spouses, Rochelle & David Rasset, Melissa MacDonald and Amber & Wesley Arnold; and five great grandchildren, Brittany and Tom MacDonald, Hope Lind, and Gabriel and Arwen Arnold. She is preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Emma; husband, Donald; brothers, Kermit, Harvey, Marshall, Donald and Leonard Nicka; and sisters, Violet Saksa, Gladys Johnson and Darlene Lantto.
Pallbearers will be Jim Kotila, Toby Kotila, Jeff Nicka, John Nicka, Tom Gallagher, Murray Muff and Larry Graunke. Arrangements are entrusted to Dingmann Funeral Care, Annandale.

Louise Weidner (Weidner) Day

Louise Day, age 66, of Waite Park and formerly of Houston, TX died unexpectedly Thursday, December 2, 2010 at her home.
Memorial Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 13, 2011 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Annandale with Pastor David Nelson officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the church.
Louise Irene Weidner Day was born April 10, 1944 in New Orleans, LA to Carl and Julia (Morgan) Weidner. She grew up and graduated from high school in Shreveport, LA. She then became a flight attendant and flew with Delta Airlines for about 2 years. She later worked for Citation Oil & Gas Corporation for almost 30 years, before retiring in 2008. On February 12, 1972 she was united in marriage to Ronald M. Day in Shreveport, LA. They were happily married for 28 years, until they were separated by his death on March 7, 2000.
Louise enjoyed the finer things life had to offer. She loved art, music and attending the theatre. She also enjoyed reading, shopping and travel, especially her trips to Florida and England. Her greatest joy was playing with her grandchildren. She was a loving and loyal friend, wife, mother and grandmother. Her family and friends will always remember her laugh, her kindness, and her wonderful smile. We will have a hole in our hearts without her.
She is survived by her daughter and son in law, Lara & Dana Kjaer of South Haven; two grandchildren, Arthur and Julia Kjaer; her mother, Julia Weidner of Annandale; and her sister, Elizabeth Weidner of Annandale. She was preceded in death by her father, Carl and husband, Ronald.
Arrangements are entrusted to Dingmann Funeral Care, Annandale.

Lenore Mildred (Irber) Johnson

Lenore M. Johnson, age 88, of Annandale died Sunday, January 9, 2011 at the Annandale Care Center.
Funeral Services will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday, January 13, 2011 at the Annandale Evangelical Free Church. Pastor Danville Swanson will officiate and burial will be in the Fairhaven Cemetery. Friends may call one hour prior to the service, Thursday at the church.
Lenore Mildred Johnson was born in St. Paul on March 26, 1922 to Edith and Albert (Wick) Irber. She grew up in St. Paul, worked in department store sales and later became a wife, mother and grandmother. Lenore married Kenneth Johnson on November 20, 1948 at Arlington Hills Presbyterian Church in St. Paul. Ken and Lenore moved to the Annandale area in 1964, residing in rural South Haven. She loved the Lord, was a terrific wife and mother, a great grandmother, and always put God and others first. Though afflicted with Alzheimer’s disease for the past six years, she kept her gentle spirit and sweet smile. She was always loving, ever smiling and will be missed by all who knew her.
Lenore is survived by her son, Richard Johnson of Minneapolis; son-in-law, Curtis (Mary) Lund of South Haven; grandchildren, Shane (Dawn) Lund of South Haven, Julie (Tim) Ellis of Buffalo and Tamara Wikan of St. Louis Park; six great grandchildren, Hunter and Payton Lund, Kendra, Avery and Matea Ellis and Skylar Wikan. She is preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth and daughter, Sandra Lund.
Pallbearers will be Dick Johnson, Curt Lund, Shane Lund, Tim Ellis, Mike Erickson, Wally Gloege. Christine Passig will provide the music for the service. Arrangements are entrusted to Dingmann Funeral Care, Annandale.

Melvin Lester Schmidt

Melvin L. Schmidt, age 85, of Annandale died Monday, December 27, 2010 at the Annandale Care Center.
Funeral Services will be held 2:30 p.m. Sunday, January 2, 2011 at Bethlehem United Church of Christ, Maple Lake with Rev. Dr. Jeffrey B. Palmer officiating. Burial will be in Bethlehem United Church of Christ Cemetery, Maple Lake at 10:00 a.m. on Monday. Friends may call after 1:00 p.m. Sunday at the church. Memorials are preferred to the Bethlehem United Church of Christ Memorial Fund.
Melvin Lester Schmidt was born March 31, 1925 in Albion Township, Wright County to Hubert and Elsie (Ruge) Schmidt. He was baptized at Albion Evangelical Church and confirmed at Bethlehem Evangelical Church. On September 20, 1947, Melvin was united in marriage to Glenice Lenore Johnson at Mt. Hermon Lutheran Church. They celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary in September.
Melvin resided on the same farm all his life. He was the fourth generation to farm the Schmidt homestead in Albion Township. In 1980, the Schmidt Farm was recognized as a Minnesota Century Farm. Melvin and his father, Hubert, were the first Pioneer Seed Corn Salesmen in Wright County. In 1996 after selling corn for 50 years, Melvin retired from selling seed; he never retired from farming. He was a lifelong member of Bethlehem United Church of Christ in Maple Lake. In his younger years, Melvin enjoyed bowling, playing cards and fishing with his Grandpa Herman. Baseball and watching the Minnesota Twins were favorite past times. Melvin’s greatest enjoyment was spending time with his family and friends.
Melvin is survived by his wife, Glenice; children, Nancy and her husband, Steven Steinleitner of Annandale, Jane and her husband, Joseph Zweber of Eden Prairie, David and his wife, Mary of Annandale, and Lori and her husband, Thomas Fisher of Raleigh, NC; granddaughters, Amy Buccek, Kari Palmer, Ann Zweber, Heidi Caputo, Beth Steinleitner and Kate Fisher; great-grandsons, Stone Caputo and Evan Palmer; sister, Lorna and her husband, Allison Ittel of Brooklyn Center; and brother, Harold and his wife, Nelda Schmidt of Annandale.
Pallbearers will be Daniel Ittel, Jeff Schmidt, Jason Buccek, Ryan Palmer, Yago Estrada-Ruiz and Adam Caputo. Honorary pallbearers will be Amy Buccek, Kari Palmer, Ann Zweber, Heidi Caputo, Beth Steinleitner and Kate Fisher. David Schmidt, Heidi Caputo, Kate Fisher and Myrna Jude will provide the music for the service. Arrangements are entrusted to Dingmann Funeral Care, Maple Lake.

Yvonne M. Potter

Yvonne M. Potter, age 74, of Buffalo died Thursday, December 23, 2010 at her home. Graveside services will take place at a later date at Prospect Hill Cemetery, La Crescent, MN.
Yvonne Marie Potter was born May 11, 1936 at Sparta, WI. She graduated from Central High School in 1953 in LaCrosse, WI. She lived in LaCrescent, MN prior to her marriage to Robert Potter where she then lived on Little Maple Lake. In her life time Von managed her own business, worked as a waitress, managed the Maple Lake Legion Club, lived in Phoenix AZ & for a short time in Cypress, TX before returning to MN. She was a member of Bethlehem United Church of Christ, Maple Lake and enjoyed gardening, yard work, antiques, and homemaking.
She is survived by her son & daughter in law James & Kari Shockley, grandchildren Emily & Joey Shockley, all of Cypress, TX. Grandchildren Nicholas Shockley and Amanda Higbee of Blaine, MN, & three great grandchildren Dylan, Gracie & Lillian Marie Higbee, and former husband Robert Potter, Jr. She was preceded in death by her mother Margaret (Popenfuss) Holt, father George Holt, sister Louise Brown, brother Richard Hoenshel, and former husband Joseph Shockley.

Robert Edward "Bob" Peterson

Robert “Bob” Peterson, age 73, of Maple Lake died with his family by his side on Thursday, December 23, 2010 at Mercy Hospital, Coon Rapids.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, December 29, 2010 at St. Timothy’s Catholic Church, Maple Lake with Fr. Michael Izen officiating. Burial will be at the Minnesota State Veteran’s Cemetery, Little Falls. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday and 9-10 a.m. Wednesday at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Maple Lake. There will be a prayer service 7 p.m. Tuesday.
Robert “Bob” Edward Peterson was born May 27, 1937 in Minneapolis to Clifford and Gertrude (Gagnon) Peterson. He was a 1955 graduate of Maple Lake High School and was a twenty year veteran of the U.S. Navy serving during both the Korea and Viet Nam Wars. He married Letitia “Tish” Kahlhamer on February 24, 1978 and following his military career worked twenty years for the City of Maple Lake Maintenance Department. He was a member of the Maple Lake Legion Post 131 and Maple Lake VFW Post 7664. He enjoyed his grandchildren, his dog Sophie, and the Minnesota Twins & Vikings.
He is survived by his wife Tish of Maple Lake, five children & their spouses Milissa Peterson of San Diego, CA, Dana & Mike DeZiel of Buffalo, Daniel & Khaliun of Eagan, Steven & Sara of Maple Lake, Brian & Erin of St. Paul, seven grandchildren Megan & Hanna DeZiel, George & Leo Peterson, Sydnee, Ella & Parker Peterson, brothers Russ (Karen) of Fridley, Jim (Marge) of Maple Lake, sister Deborah (Kenneth) Karson of Bemidji. His parents and brother John preceded him in death.
The pallbearers will be Mike, John & Dan Peterson, Irvin Stemm, Gary Yanish, and Ken Wurm. The music for the service will be provided by St. Timothy’s Resurrection Choir and Marge Pavlik, organist. The arrangements were entrusted to Dingmann Funeral Care of Maple Lake.

Lorenz Walter Seutter

Lorenz W. Seutter, age 97, of Shoreview died on Thursday, February 7, 2013 at Crest View Lutheran Home, Columbia Heights.
Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. with Funeral Services held at 2 p.m. on Monday, February 11, 2013 at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Annandale. Rev. Kurt Klaus will officiate and burial will be at Concordia Lutheran Cemetery, Fair Haven.
Lorenz Walter Seutter was born January 2, 1916 to Gottlieb and Adeline (Eardmann) Seutter in Fair Haven where he attended school. He married Helena Lueck on March 22, 1941 and she preceded him in death on November 5, 2002. Lorenz owned and operated Northway Hardware in Lexington for 40 years retiring in 1994. He helped found the Centennial State Bank of Lexington and served on the Board of Directors for 18 years. He was a former member of Concordia Lutheran Church, Fair Haven and was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church, Mounds View. He enjoyed reading, golfing, following current events, and time spent with his family. He leaves behind a legacy of booklovers and golfers who loved him dearly and will miss him greatly.
He is survived by his son James of Shoreview, grandchildren Angela Seutter & her husband Cody Kotnik of St. Louis Park, Derek Seutter & his wife Angela of St. Augusta, great grandchildren Greta & Ingrid Kotnik and Owen & Isaac Seutter, sister Hilda Schendel of Columbia Heights, former daughter-in-law Shirley Seutter and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife and several brothers & sisters.
The pallbearers will be Glenn Seutter, Larry Leach, David Seutter, Jamie Miller, Derek Seutter and Cody Kotnik. The arrangements were entrusted to Dingmann Funeral Care of Annandale. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to Concordia Lutheran Church, Fair Haven and Messiah Lutheran Church, Mounds View.

Richard "Rick" Alan Berens

Richard "Rick" Berens, age 56, of Buffalo died Saturday, February 9, 2013 at Abbott-Northwestern Hospital, Minneapolis.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 am Friday, February 15, 2013 at St. Henry's Catholic Church, Monticello with Fr. Tony Vanderloop officiating. Interment will be at Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Thursday at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Maple Lake and one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. There will be a prayer service at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Memorials are preferred to Wounded Warrior Project.
Richard Alan Berens was born November 26, 1956 in Shakopee to the late Leonard and Dolores (Kearney) Berens. He was a graduate of Prior Lake High School and Anoka Ramsey Community College. He served in the U.S. Army stationed in Nuremburg, Germany. Rick was an entrepreneur working in real estate development and auctions. He was a consultant and an active investor in energy related development. Rick was a member of the Minnesota Auctioneers Association Hall of Fame and life member of the Prior Lake VFW.
Rick was an avid outdoorsman. He was passionate about big game hunting throughout North America, deep sea fishing in Alaska for halibut and salmon, and hiking the mountains of his home in big sky Montana. Rick looked forward to sitting around a campfire, sharing stories of hunts with young and old alike, and filling the night with laughter.
Rick is survived by his wife Renee of Buffalo, brothers & sisters Doreen (Dave) Suelter of Zimmerman, Margie (Randy) Corbin of Margate, FL, Ed (Shelly) of Faribault, Anne (Randy) Hansen of Milwaukee, Bob (Jolene) of Red Lodge, MT, Joe of Red Lodge, MT, and Lenny (Vicky) of New Prague.
Pallbearers will be Vince Bachman, Bob Berens, Sterling Weinzetl, Bob Kadrlik, Frank Imholte and Logan Smed. The arrangements were entrusted to Dingmann Funeral Care of Maple Lake.

James Andrew Olson

James A. Olson, age 67, of Annandale died Friday, February 15, 2013 at his home.
Memorial services will be held 4:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 19, 2013 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Annandale with Rev. Dave Nelson officiating. Interment will be at St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Monday at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Annandale and at the church one hour prior to services.
James Andrew Olson was born April 1, 1945 at Drayton, ND to Fritjof and Jane (Kadlec) Olson. He graduated from Lafayette High School, Red Lake Falls in 1963 and in 1969 from Bemidji State University. Jim served in the U.S. Army, Fourth Armored Division in Germany, and taught science at Annandale High School from 1969-2004. He married JulieAnn Stromstad on August 5, 1972 in Bismarck, ND. He was a member of Southbrook Golf Club and enjoyed golf, tennis, pinochle, and time spent with his boys.
He is survived by his wife JulieAnn of Annandale, sons John of Grand Forks, ND, Josh of Colorado and Montana, sister in law Susan Olson of Red Lake Falls, Julie’s parents Norman & Rosalie Stromstad of Bismarck, ND, brothers & sisters in law John & Judy Stromstad of Bismarck, ND, Jeff & Kathy Stromstad of Mandan, ND, Mark & Jane Lynne of Batavia, IL. His parents and brother Stephen preceded him in death.
The music for the service will be provided by Arlene Sands and the arrangements were entrusted to Dingmann Funeral Care of Annandale.

William Charles Maurer

William 'Bill' Maurer, age 82, of Fair Haven died Tuesday, February 5, 2013 at Hilltop Care Center, Watkins.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, February 9, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Concordia Lutheran Church, Fair Haven with Pastor Timothy Nerud officiating. Friends and family are invited to visit prior to the service beginning at 9:30 a.m. Burial will be in the Fair Haven Cemetery.
William Charles Maurer was born December 12, 1930 in Fair Haven Township, Stearns County to Otto and Nora (Tuey) Maurer. He spent his youth living with his family in Wright County and attended school in South Haven and Annandale. From 1952-1954 he served his country as a member of the Marines stationed aboard the aircraft carrier USS Boxer during the Korean War. Bill was a truck driver for Barton Sand & Gravel and then Tiller Corporation from 1954 to 1993. He married Evelyn Markwardt on March 19, 1960 at Concordia Lutheran Church. They raised their three children and lived their entire married life in the Fair Haven area. Bill enjoyed all things outdoors especially hunting, fishing, and firearms. He was a great handy-man and enjoyed helping others. He and Evelyn enjoyed many road trips with some of the most memorable ones being to Branson with friends. He was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church, life member of the VFW, and former member of the South Haven Fire Dept & South Haven Sportsman’s Club.
He is survived by his wife Evelyn of Fair Haven; sons David of La Fayette, Craig (LaVon) of Fair Haven; daughter Cindy (Steve) Wills of Fair Haven; grandchildren Dustin (Kate) Wills, Megan Wills & Monique Maurer; step-grandchildren Dusty Krohn & Angela (Brennen) Schindele; ten great-grandchildren; brother John (Donna) Maurer of St. Cloud; niece Julie Ampe & her son Alex.
The urn bearers will be Dustin & Megan Wills and the arrangements were by Dingmann Funeral Care of Annandale.
