Kadrlik, Sister Agnes

Sister Agnes Kadrlik, 86, a Franciscan Sister of the Congregation of Our Lady of Lourdes, Rochester, Minn., who served in domestic care, died on Wednesday, April 24, 2002 at Assisi Heights, Rochester.
Born Agnes Theresa Kadrlik on June 4, 1915 in Veseli, Minn., Sister Agnes entered the Franciscan Congregation from St. Wenceslaus Parish, Milladore, Wis. She made profession of vows in 1937 and began her ministry at St. Mary's College in Winona. She was also assigned to Denver, Colo.; the College of St. Teresa and St. Anne Hospice, Winona. She was food supervisor and receptionist at Sacred Heart Hospital in Austin from 1967-1985.
Sister Agnes retired to Assisi Heights in 1988 and celebrated her diamond jubilee in 1997.
Sister Agnes is survived by her Franciscan Community and by one sister, Sister Philothea, OSF of St. Mary's Hospital, Rochester.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held Friday, April 26, at the Chapel of Our Lady of Lourdes at Assisi Heights, with Rev. Jack Krough officiating. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery.

Glende, Roger M.

Roger M. Glende, 59, of Las Vegas, Nev., and Minnesota City, Minn., died Wednesday, April 24, 2002 at his home in Las Vegas.
He was born January 21, 1943 in Tooele, Utah.
He was a retired mechanic and had served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War.
He was a past member of the American Legion Post of Winona and a member of the Moose Lodge of LaCrosse, Wis.
He is survived by his wife, Selma Glende of Minnesota City; daughters, Karen Anderson of Lake City, Minn. and Penny Kelly of Northfield, Minn.; a son, Steven Glende of Lake City; his mother, Evelyn Glende of Winona; two sisters, Judy Horsfal of Las Vegas and Janice Hatch of Sunol, Cal.; two brothers, Michael Glende of Lake City and Keith Glende of Vancouver, Wash.; a stepson, Rick Bollin of St. Louis Park, Minn.; and a stepdaughter, Lori Dille of Lakewood, Colo.; and ten grandchildren.
Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society.
Arrangements were handled by Affordable Cremation & Burial Service, 2457 N. Decatur Blvd., Las Vegas, NV 89108.

Pellowski, Mark D.

Mark D. Pellowski, 84, of 678 East Broadway, died Saturday, July 20, 2002 at Community Memorial Hospital.
He was born January 7, 1918 in Winona to Vincent and Elizabeth (Osowski) Pellowski. He married Janice M. Mencel on May 14, 1955 in Winona. She died November 15, 2000.
Prior to retirement, Mark worked at Peerless Chain Co. for 42 years.
He was a member of St. Stanislaus Kostka Parish. Mark was an avid fisherman and enjoyed the outdoors.
Survivors include eight children: Matthew Pellowski of Minnetonka, Minn., Mark (Debbie) Pellowski of Stoddard, Wis., Luke Pellowski of Belle Plaine, Minn., John David (Kay) Pellowski of Nashville, Tenn., Karen Pellowski of Winona, Kathleen Pellowski of Winona, Ann (David) Rackow of Brooklyn Park, Minn., and Mary Tyler of Winona; six grandchildren: Amanda and Katelyn Pellowski, Sarah Tyler, Angela Franzen, Brandon Eide, and Melissa Franzen; a brother, Dan Pellowski of Winona; and a sister, Dorothy (Robert) Voshart of LaCrescent, Minn.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, a grandson, Joseph Tyler and a brother, Phillip.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 24, at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church with Rev. Daniel R. Dernek officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. Preliminary services will be at 10:30 a.m. at Watkowski-Pronschinske Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Matthew, Mark and Luke Pellowski, David Rakow, Dave Griffin and John Berejcha.

O'Connor, Patricia A.

Patricia Ann O'Connor, 67, of 141 Candlewood Drive, Winona, and formerly of 668 West 7th St. died Monday, July 22nd at her home with her family. Pat was born in Franklin, Pennsylvania on January 22, 1935 to William and Ila (Nicholl) Gallagher.
Pat was a devoted wife for more than 45 years, and beloved mother of three. Though she was born in Pennsylvania and worked in Chicago, where she met her future husband, John, Winona was Pat's only true home. A former prom queen who proved that she was beautiful through and through, Pat nurtured a chronically ill son while ensuring that all three of her children were equally and thoroughly loved. She enthusiastically supported her husband's passion for Notre Dame. Everyone Pat met considered her a friend, and her easy smile and gentle spirit will be missed.
Pat is survived by her husband, John; daughter, Colleen O'Connor (Matthew McElhiney) of Denver, CO.; sons, Michael (Debby) O'Connor, Mesa, AZ., and Kevin (Kathleen) O'Connor of Cottage Grove, WI.; four grandchildren, Mallory, Sean and Quinn O'Connor, and Maxwell McElhiney. Two sisters, Betty Gallagher of Leesburg, VA. and Ila Gallagher of Monee, IL.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00A.M., Thursday, July 25th at St. Casimir's Catholic Church, Rev. James Hennessy officiating. Friends may call at the Fawcett- Junker Funeral Home on Wednesday (TODAY) from 5-8PM, where there will be a prayer service at 7:30P.M. Following cremation Pat's cremated remains will be entombed at Woodlawn Cemetery, Winona.
Casket bearers are Andy Blomsness, Jim Galewski, Bob Hahn, Jerry Lawson, Bill Reinarts and Dave Tabor.

Van Alstine, Gladys L.

Gladys Lillian Van Alstine, age 85, of Winona, died on Monday, July 22, 2002 at Bethesda Senior Rehabilitation Center, St. Paul, MN.
Gladys was born on December 5, 1916 in Manitowoc, WI to Albert and Rose Mary (Braun) Kortens. She attended Lincoln High School, Manitowoc Co. Normal School, The Chicago Conservatory of Music, and the Milwaukee State Teachers College. She taught in the rural schools of Manitowoc County, Whitefish Bay, and Shorewood Public Schools in Wisconsin. On February 27, 1948 she married Dr. Frank L. Van Alstine in Shorewood County, Milwaukee, WI. He preceded her in death on March 10, 1994.
Gladys received her B.S. Degree (1958) and M.A. Degree (1962) from Winona State University. She taught Music and Third Grade in the Winona Public Schools until she retired in 1982. Gladys was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Winona; National Education and Minnesota Education Associations; Winona Education Association. She was active in professional music organizations; singing in and directing the Winona Golden Melodians Chorus for many years. Gladys was Chair of Episcopal Church Women and the music director for over 25 years at St. Paul's Episcopal Church. She has been recognized for her achievement in elementary music and for conducting summer children's musical operettas.
She is survived by two sons James (Sharon) Van Alstine, Morris, MN; and Frank (Judy) Van Alstine, Burnsville, MN; two daughters, Jane Einhorn, Roselle, IL and Jill (Steven) Henry, Phoenix, AZ; 13 grandchildren; three great grandchildren; two sisters, Elinor (Harold) Wiesner, Manitowoc, WI and Ruth (Gordon) Jansen, Manitowoc, WI; and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, two brothers, one sister and one step-daughter.
Memorial services will be Saturday, July 27, 2002 at 2:00 PM at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Winona with Rev. Lawrence Green, officiating. Burial will be at St. Paul's Episcopal Church Memorial Gardens. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts to St. Paul's Episcopal Church in the name of Gladys Van Alstine would be appreciated by the family.
Arrangements are being completed by the Fawcett-Junker Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Winona.

Zollman, Robert Henry

Robert Henry Zollman, 58, of Fort Mojave, AZ. and formerly of Winona, died July 13, 2002 at his home in Fort Mojave. Bob was born in Winona on August 26, 1943 the son of Henry F. and Frances R. (Beck) Zollman.
He has lived in Winona most of his life; from 1967 to 1972 he lived in Minneapolis, MN, while working at the New Brighton Munitions Plant. Following that he was employed by the City of Winona as a police officer from 1973 until retiring in August of 1998. For the past two years he has resided in Fort Mojave, AZ.
Bob is a US Army veteran serving from 1964 to 1967. His tour of duty took him to the DMZ in Korea and also a tour in Vietnam. He was awarded the Purple Heart, Combat Infantryman Badge, Vietnam Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal and the Marksman Rifle Badge.
Bob is survived by his wife, Georgia (Tooley) Zollman of Fort Mojave, AZ.; children, Anthony (Melissa) Zollman, Hanover, MN.; Christine (Kevin) Meland, Elk River, MN.; Lisa (Raymond) Reynolds, Fridley, MN. and Tracy Gloudemans, Coon Rapids, MN.
Stepchildren, Charles (Gina) Dostal, Sante Fe, TX.; Richard (Deanna) Sobeck, Winona, MN.; Thomas (Julie) Sobeck, Winona, MN. and Georgia (Kip) Arity, Black River Falls, WI. Nineteen grandchildren and two great grandchildren. A sister, Carol (James) Hill, Winona and a step-sister, Marie Trzebiatowski, Winona.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorial services for Bob will be at 1:30P.M., Sunday, July 28th at the Fawcett-Junker Funeral Home, with Rev. Shawn Haremza of the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart, officiating. Entombment will be at St. Mary's Cemetery, Winona, where members of VFW Post #1287, Winona will conduct military burial honors.
Friends may call at the Fawcett-Junker Funeral Home on Sunday from 12:30PM till time of services.
Honorary casket bearers will be Ray Spaulding, Frost Clegg, William Duffy and John Grable.
O'Connor, Patricia Ann
Patricia Ann O'Connor, 67, of 141 Candlewood Drive, died Monday, July 22, 2002 at her home.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 25 at St. Casimir's Catholic Church. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.

Zollman, Robert H.

Robert H. Zollman, 58, of Fort Mojave, Ariz., and formerly of Winona, died Saturday, July 13, 2002 at his home.
Memorial services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, July 28, at Fawcett-Junker Funeral Home, Winona. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.

Kreckow, Ellsworth

Ellsworth H. Kreckow, 87, of Battle Creek, Mich., died Monday, July 22, 2002 at his home.
He was born February 22, 1915 in St. Charles, Minn., to Henry and Rose Stokke Kreckow. He attended school in Orange, Cal. He married Mildred Elfmann on August 28, 1935 at Hart, Minn.
He owned Winona Truck Service for many years and also worked for Archer-Daniels-Midland, retiring in 1990.
He is a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Wilson, Minn.
He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, fishing, hunting, traveling and playing cards.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and three sisters.
He is survived by his wife, Mildred of Battle Creek, Mich.; a daughter, Jean (Richard) Sass of Battle Creek; four grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Friday, July 26, at 11 a.m. at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Wilson, with Rev. Paul C. Stratman officiating. Burial will be in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Wilson.
Visitation will be Thursday from 7-9 p.m. at Martin-Myhre Funeral Home and at the church on Friday after 10 a.m.
Casketbearers will be Richard Sass, Sr., Richard Sass, Jr., Michael Sass, Tom Lawrence, Jeffrey M. Jones, and John Dalin.
Martin-Myhre Funeral Home is assisting with the arrangements.

Heublein, Gertrude E.

Gertrude E. Heublein, 93, of 368 Carimona, Winona, died Monday, July 22, 2002 in the Intensive Care Unit of Community Memorial Hospital.
She was born July 7, 1909 in Hart, Minn., to John and Ida Schossow Brand. She married Irvin T. Heublein on July 16, 1956 at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Wilson, Minn.
She is a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Wilson, and its Ladies Aid. She was a former member of the Fremont Homemakers.
She farmed with her husband for many years at Hart.
She was preceded in death by her husband on November 20, 1984, four brothers, Hugo, Adolph, Alvin and Brenno Brand, and four sisters, Elsie Mueller, Edna Warnken, Emma and Della Brand.
She is survived by several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Saturday, July 27, at 11 a.m. at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church with Rev. Paul C. Stratman officiating. Burial will be in Frank Hill Cemetery, Wilson.
Visitation will be Friday from 6-8 p.m. at Martin-Myhre Funeral Home and on Saturday at the church after 10 a.m.
Martin-Myhre Funeral Home is assisting with the arrangements.
