Dorothy and her husband raised their family of four children while living in Houston. They enjoyed the company of many friends from their church and also their friends from the square dancing and bridge groups. Dorothy worked for a short time at MD Anderson Hospital and later became an avid collector of antiques. She began a small business of selling antiques while in Houston. After her husband's retirement, with the children grown, Joe and Dorothy moved to Fredericksburg, Texas. There they opened an antique shop next to their home and enjoyed the business and the people until about 1997 when their health began to fail. In January of 2000, they moved back to Houston, Joe to a skilled nursing home and Dorothy to live with their youngest daughter, Joan. After her husband died, Dorothy's health continued to decline and she began dialysis. Yet it was during this time three new great-grandchildren were born that she was able to see and hold in her arms. She loved her family, reading, garage sales, being by the ocean; all sorts of animals, and a plate of nachos would always bring a smile. Her sense of humor and her faith were with her always.

Raymond A. "Bud" Beach, 85, formerly of Minnesota City, MN, died after a long battle with cancer on Wednesday, July 31, 2002 at Sauer Memorial Home, Winona, surrounded by his family.
He was born January 8, 1917, at home in New Hartford Township, Winona County, Minnesota to Willie K. and Caroline V. (Strupp) Beach. he was nicknamed "Bud" by his sister, Vivian, and used that name for most of his life. Bud married Mabel C. Morcomb on June 6, 1938, in Decorah, Iowa.

During WW II, Bud worked as a riveter on airplanes for Northwest Airlines in St. Paul where they lived. From 1944 to 1949, he and his family farmed in Ponsford, MN.

His last home in Minnesota City was a log cabin where he and Mabel lived until illness necessitated his move to Sauer.
As a young man, Bud enjoyed playing baseball and various musical instruments. After he retired from building homes, he usually fished and hunted in season. When not engaged in either of those activities, he worked at fixing things for various family members and friends, and created furniture or pieces of art from wood or iron. He was a homebody who enjoyed gardening, playing cards, and entertaining the family with stories from his youth. His humor and smile will be greatly missed.
