Rozek, Rufin R. "Ace"

Rufin R. "Ace" Rozek, 93, died Friday, September 29, 2000 at the Watkins Home.

He was born November 28, 1906 in Winona to John and Rozalia (Sobotta) Rozek.

He was a member of the American Legion Leon J. Wetzel Post #9, a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Neville-Lien Post #1287, and Disabled American Veterans Hiawatha Chapter #35.

He served in the U.S. Army Air Force, World War II in Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes and Central Europe.

He is survived by a niece, Marion Czapiewski of Winona; two great nephews and a niece.

He was preceded in death by his parents, seven brothers and three sisters.

Funeral services were Sunday, October 1 at Watkowski-Pronschinske Funeral Home with Rev. Daniel R. Dernek of St. Stanislaus Kostka Parish officiating. Burial was in St. Mary's Cemetery where the VFW provided military honors.

Pallbearers were members of the American Legion.

Fedie, Eleanor L.

Eleanor L. Fedie, 90, Winona and formerly of Mondovi, Wis., died Saturday, September 30, 2000 at the C&R Unit of Winona Community Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services were Tuesday, October 3 at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Mondovi, with Rev. Edward Klimek officiating. Burial was in Sacred Heart Cemetery.

Christianson, Mildred "Millie"

Mildred "Millie" Christianson, 73, passed away on Friday, September 29, 2000 at Good Samaritan Nursing Home, Stillwater, Minn.

Born February 17, 1927 to Mary A. (Bauer) and Frank A. Schuh in Durand, Wis., Mildred married Leslie "Chub" Christianson on August 21, 1948 and for several decades they owned and operated Trac Oil Company in Goodview, Minn.

Millie was a member of Westfield Golf Club for years and enjoyed many hours playing bridge and having luncheons with her friends. She was an active fund raiser for Winona Community Memorial Hospital and devoted many hours assisting with its annual holiday charity fund raiser.

Millie is survived by her sons, Steve (Chris) of Overland Park, Kansas and Marty (Jenifer) of Stillwater, Minn.; her beloved grandchildren, Rochelle, Amy and Erin of Overland Park and Nickolas, Jamie and Timothy of Stillwater; a foster grandson, Arthur; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Chub, and all of her brothers and sisters, Marion (Martin) Powers, Anton (Bernice) Schuh, Leo (Kae) Schuh, Victor (Irene) Schuh, Beatrice (Alex) Kadinger and Francis Schuh.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held Tuesday, October 3 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Winona, with Rev. Joseph L. Keefe officiating. Burial was in St. Mary's Cemetery, Winona.

Casketbearers were Eric Derbyshire, Michael Lawrence, Thomas Rossin, Gary Rossin, Daniel Schneider and Rodger Schuh.

Memorials may be directed to Cotter High School, Winona, or the Good Samaritan Nursing Home, Stillwater.

Fawcett-Junker Funeral Home and Cremation Services assisted the family with the arrangements.

Pulk, Dennis J.

Dennis J. Pulk, 29, Kimball, Minn., and formerly of Winona, died Saturday, September 30, 2000 at the St. Cloud Hospital after a motorcycle accident.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, October 4, 2000 at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Prior Lake, Minn., with Father Richard Banker officiating, and Deacon Russ Shupe and Rev. Mike Lockerby assisting. Burial will be in Credit River Cemetery, Prior Lake.

Johnson, Martha

Martha Johnson, 94, Winona, died Sunday, October 1, 2000 at the Watkins Home, where she had been a resident for ten years.

She was born April 30, 1906 in Looney Valley, Houston County, Minn., to Oliver and Belle (Larson) Olson. She and her twin brother, Martin, were the youngest of 11 children. She married Leslie E. Johnson, a friend of her twin brother, on November 3, 1928. He died in 1990.

She belonged to the Money Creek Methodist Church, where she was a member of the choir and assistant organist for many years. She was a member of the Ladies Aid and a past member of the Money Creek Order of the Eastern Star where she served as Worthy Matron for one year. She was currently a member of McKinley Methodist Church in Winona and its Ladies Aid for over 50 years.

The family moved to Pleasant Valley in 1941 until 1950 when they moved to Winona. She was employed at the Winona Hotel, the old and new Winona hospitals, the Watkins Methodist Home and Winona State College, until retiring in 1971.

She is survived by four children: Allen (Marlene) of Grove, Okla., Jerry of Long Beach, Cal., Dr. Glen of Lincoln, Neb., and a daughter, Dallas (Gordon)Polus of Winona; twelve grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, October 5 at Fawcett-Junker Funeral Home with Rev. Shirley Duncanson of McKinley United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Money Creek Cemetery, Money Creek, Minn.

Friends may call after 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Brad Polus, Hugh Polus, Brian Krings, Keith Krings, and Rick Stockhausen.

Fawcett-Junker Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Grossell, Oscar J.

Oscar J. Grossell, 94, of LaCrescent, Minn. and formerly of Brownsville, Minn., died Sunday, October 1, 2000 at LaCrescent Health Care Center.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, October 5 at Apostolic Church in Onalaska, Wis., with Rev. Mark Boyd officiating. Burial with military rites will be in the Buffalo City Cemetery, Buffalo City, Wis.

Vondrashek, Mrs. E.A. (Rose C.)

Mrs. E.A. (Rose C.) Vondrashek, 97, of the C&R Unit of Community Memorial Hospital, and formerly of the Heritage Apartments, Winona, died Monday, October 2, 2000 at the C&R Unit.

She was born in Winona on June 17, 1903 to Michael and Frances Renk. On November 22, 1919 she married Edward Albert Vondrashek at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Winona.

Rose worked for many years as a sales associate for H. Choate and Company.

She is currently a member of the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart.

Rose is survived by daughters, Mrs. Forrest (Ruth) Sawyer and Mrs. John (Rebecca) Anderson, both of Winona; eleven grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a son, Edward Jr., three brothers, three sisters, and a grandson, Jay.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Rose on Thursday, October 5 at the Fawcett-Junker Funeral Home at 10:30 a.m., with Father Shawn Haremza of the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Fawcett-Junker Funeral Home on Thursday from 9:30-10:30 a.m.

Casketbearers will be Forrest, Robert and Michael Sawyer and Daryl Anderson.

Memorials may be directed to the donor's choice.

Haeuser, Ebbie A.

Ebbie A. Haeuser, 91, of 1171 West Mark Street, died Monday, August 21, 2000 at Sauer Memorial Home.

She was born November 17, 1908, in Buffalo County, Wis., to Michael and Elizabeth (Schlag) Ziegler. She married Hilbert Haeuser on June 16, 1928 at Lake City. She moved to Winona in 1948.

She was employed by the Winona Glove Factory and W.T. Grant Department Store.

She is a member of the Winona Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses.

She is survived by a son, Nathan (Mae) Haeuser of Williston, No. Dak.; daughters, Lois (Robert) Abraham of Winona and Joan McGraw of Tigard, Ore; ten grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; thirteen step-great grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Ivaneil Ziegler and Salmona Fonner, both of Fountain City, Wis.; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband in December of 1964, four brothers and five sisters.

Funeral services will be Thursday, August 24, at 2 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 161 Whitten Street, Winona. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. at Martin-Myhre Funeral Home and on Thursday after 1 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall.

Memorials are being arranged.
