Bell, Clarence A.
Clarence A. Bell, 77, of 707 East Broadway, died of cancer on Sunday, August 20, 2000 at his home.
He was born July 20, 1923 in Winona to John J. and Stella (Zywicki) Dzwonkowski. He married Vera M. Lattman on August 24, 1945 at the San Diego, Cal. Naval Base.
Clarence served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Upon moving back to Winona, he became owner of the Winona Dental Lab. He was very active in the community, serving as Past Exalted Ruler and Past District Deputy of Winona Elks Lodge #327, where he was an honorary life member, and Past State Trustee. He was Past President and honorary life member of the Hall of Fame Winona Bowling Association and Minnesota State Bowling Association, life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Neville-Lien Post #1287, American Legion Leon J. Wetzel Post #9 and its 40 and 8 Voiture, Winona Athletic Club, Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #1243, Elk's Lodge #327, Winona Civic Association, of which he was a Past President, Red Men Club and Toastmasters. He was a Past State Trustee of Minnesota Elks Association, and Past Secretary of Elks Lodge #327 and was honored as "Elk of the Year."
Survivors include his wife, Vera of Winona; four sons, James A. (Suzanne), Thomas (Cynthia) and Duane (Rita), all of Winona and Steven (Tina) Bell of Arcadia, Fla.; a daughter, Patti (Darrell) Volkman of Winona; eleven grandchildren: Hollie (Jamie) Niemeyer, Tyson (Missy), Torrey and Todd Bell, Shane, Travis and Cheyann Volkman, Leigh and Ryan Bell, Jenna (Mathew) Lingerfelt and Jacob Bell; three great-grandchildren: Jacey and Jordan Niemeyer and Aaron Lingerfelt; two brothers, Donald (Joan) Bell of Winona and Eugene Dzwonkowski of Galesville, Wis.; two sisters, Dorothy Kline and Mildred Kreher, both of Winona; and his special pals, Max and Sadie.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Allen David, five brothers and two sisters.
Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. August 23 at Watkowski-Pronschinske Funeral Home with Rev. Daniel R. Dernek officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery where the Veterans of Foreign Wars Neville-Lien Post #1287 will provide military honors.
Pallbearers will be his grandchildren.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Winona Elks Lodge.

Krause, Juanita E.
Juanita E. Krause, 77, of Trempealeau County Health Care Center, Whitehall, Wis., and formerly of Arcadia and Fountain City, Wis., died Sunday, August 20, 2000 at the health care center.
Juanita was born in Fountain City on December 25, 1922, the daughter of Richard and Clara (Braatz) Krause. She never married.
Survivors include a brother, William R. (Shirley) Krause of Fountain City, Wis.; sisters, her twin, Alita Krause of Fountain City, Fern (William) Sommers Sr., of Marshland, Wis., and Corlynn (Paul) Finner of LaCrosse, Wis.; six nieces; six nephews; and several grandnieces and grandnephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Violet and Iris, and a grandniece, Rhonda Sommers.
Funeral services will be Thursday, August 24 at 2 p.m. at St. John's United Church of Christ in Fountain City with Rev. Fritz West officiating. Friends may call at the church on Thursday from 1-2 p.m. Burial will be in Fountain City Public Cemetery in Fountain City, Wis.
Casketbearers are nephews, William Sommers, Jr., William Krause, Jr., Lawrence Ruben and Michael Wachs.

Peters, Hunter Wallace
Hunter Wallace Peters was stillborn to Dave Peters and Amy Eggert of Lewiston, Minn., on Saturday, August 19, 2000 at Winona Community Memorial Hospital.
In addition to his parents, Hunter is survived by a sister, Casey Peters, at home; maternal grandparents Diane Eggert of Lewiston and William (Jude) Eggert of Athol, Mass.; parental grandparents, Penny and Harlan Wilson of Lewiston and Richard Peters of Rochester; maternal great-grandmother, Sylvia Markegard of Peterson; and paternal great-grandmother, June Gordon of Rochester.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 23 at Hoff Funeral Home's - Lewiston Chapel with Rev. William Mueller of St. Mark's Lutheran Church of Rushford, Minn., officiating. Burial will follow in Lewiston Public Cemetery. Friends may call one hour before services Wednesday.

Brudwick, Victoria "Marge"
Victoria "Marge" Brudwick, 86, formerly of Austin and Blooming Prairie, Minn., died Thursday, August 17, 2000 at the Watkins Home in Winona.
She was born May 8, 1914 in Union, Minn., to Frank and Victoria (Rysavy) Wanous. She married Mervin I. Brudwick on September 12, 1936 in Geneva, Minn. He died in 1977.
Victoria was a member of St. Casimir's Parish in Winona.
She was first, a wife and mother, and very proud to be a grandmother and great-grandmother. We also remember her as a friend, confidante, advisor, avid reader, conversationalist and very independent. She will be sadly missed by all.
Survivors include a daughter, Yvonne (James) Datta of Winona; a son, Gene (Lovey) Brudwick of Minnesota City, Minn.; six grandchildren: Lauri (Richard) Concaildi of Chicago, Ill., Lisa (Fred)Kerstiens of Milwaukee, Wis., Steve Datta of Winona, Teri (Dan) Blakeslee, Menasha, Wis., Tammi (Jeff) Sutphen of Oshkosh, Wis., and Jamie (April) Brudwick of Appleton, Wis.; and four great-grandchildren: Heather, Megan, Thomas and Josh.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and a sister.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered Saturday, August 26 at 2:30 p.m. in the Great Hall of the Watkins Home with Rev. James W. Hennessy officiating. Burial will be in St. Columbanus Cemetery in Blooming Prairie, Minn. Friends may call Saturday from 1:30 p.m. until time of the Funeral Mass at the Watkins Home.
Pallbearers will be her grandchildren.

Sass, Dolores M.
Dolores M. Sass, 73, Utica, Minn., died Monday, August 21, 2000 at her home.
Dolores was born April 5, 1927 in Winona to Carl and Frieda (Ledebuhr) Tarras. She and Lyle Sass were united in marriage on November 16, 1946 in Winona.
She was a hard working farm wife, a loving and caring mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and mother-in-law. She enjoyed cooking, baking, and doing puzzles. Her greatest joys were being around her family and going to church. Dolores was very intelligent, graduating second in a high school class of 300. She belonged to St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church in Lewiston.
Survivors include her husband, Lyle; two sons, Jeffrey (Linda) Sass of Spring Valley and Larry (Sandy) Sass of Stockton; one granddaughter, Gina (Brian) and one great-granddaughter, Cayla of Winona; five step-grandchildren, Steve Kreckow (Heidi, Jordan and Ashley), Rick (Lisa) Schell, Dawn (Jerry) Benedict, Tracy (Matt) Starks, and David (Ellen) Trester; and seven great-grandchildren: Corey, Shaunna, Katie, Jeffrey, Allen, Justine and Shawna.
Dolores was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Gerald and Raymond Tarras, and two daughters, Sandra and Pamela (Craig) Harmon.
She will be sadly missed by all her loved ones. We know she's in Heaven with the Lord, where she's joined her loved ones who went before her.
Funeral services will be Thursday, August 24 at 11 a.m. at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church in Lewiston with Revs. Michael A. Lindemann and David A. Fischer officiating. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery. Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at Hoff Funeral Home's-Lewiston Chapel, and one hour before services Thursday at the church.

Smith, Ursula
Ursula Julia Smith, 86, formerly of Medford, MN, died Friday, April 14, 2000 at Winona Community Memorial Hospital.
Ursula Szymanski was born May 27, 1913 in Medford, the eldest child of Matthew and Martha (Kosmoski) Szymanski. She graduated from Medford High School in 1931 and was employed briefly in the Owatonna, MN area.
On September 18, 1934 she married Aloysius Smith at St. Hyacinth Church in Owatonna. The couple made their home on the Smith family farm in Clinton Falls Township until 1969, when they moved into Medford. In 1998, Mrs. Smith moved to Winona, where she resided at St. Anne Hospice until her death.
While a resident of the Medford area, Mrs. Smith was an active member of the Catholic Daughters of America, the Catholic Order of Foresters, and the Deerfield Kitcheneers. She loved to play cards and dance to old time music. An enthusiastic cook and traveler, Mrs. Smith enjoyed trips to Europe, Mexico, Canada and various regions of the U.S.
Mrs. Smith is survived by her four daughters: Jean (Robert) Madigan of Phoenix, AZ, Carol (Warren) Galbus of Winona, Kay (Duane) Larrieu of Manassas, VA, and Dolores (William) Johnson, Duluth, MN; seventeen grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a son, Joseph L. of Medford, MN, a brother, Bernard Szymanski, and a sister Dolores (Harold) Affeldt.
Funeral services were Monday, April 17 at Christ the King Catholic Church in Medford, with Rev. Robert Herman officiating. Burial was in Resurrection Cemetery in Medford.
Memorials may be directed to American Diabetes Association, American Heart Association, Christ the King Church in Medford, MN, or St. Anne Hospice, Winona.

Wibye, Marjorie Beynon Stewart
Marjorie Beynon Stewart Wibye died Saturday, April 15, 2000 at Community Memorial Hospital at age 91 years.
She was born October 1, 1908 in Winona to Jesse and Anna (Hageman) Beynon.
Winona has been her home for most of her life. She graduated from Winona High School and Winona State University, and attended Wayne State University and the University of Minnesota. She taught in Bellingham and Stewartville, MN and Clark, SD. She also lived in Mason City, IA for 5 years.She was a teacher in the Winona Public Schools for 25 years, retiring in 1972. She has resided at Callista Court since October 1998.
Marge was a member of the First Congregational Church and active in various church groups including Circle 4 and Dorcas. She was a member of the Winona Retired Teachers Association, Watkins Auxiliary and the Shrine Auxiliary. She loved to read, knit and sew. She began making quilts in 1984 and made many wonderful treasures for her family and friends.
Survivors include daughter, Barbara Stewart Kluch and son-in-law, Leo Kluch of Papillion, NE; three grandsons and their families:Scott and Cathy Kluch, Manhatten, KS, Jeff and Lu Ann Kluch, David, Brandi, and Kellen, Papillion, NE, Ken and Leigh Kluch, Zachary and Thomas, Denver, CO, and Catherine Geistkemper, Omaha, NE; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Beynon of Winona; nieces, Sherryl Miranda of Winona and Judy Thompson, Sioux Falls, SD; nephew, Bob Walsh, Pocatello, IA; and many friends.
Marjorie was preceded in death by her brother, Evan "Tubby" Beynon, sister, Alice Walsh, and two grandsons, Steve and Dave Kluch.
Funeral services were Tuesday, April 18 at Fawcett-Junker Funeral Home. Her body was cremated and interred at Woodlawn Cemetery.

Bylsma, Joyce Irene
Joyce Irene Bylsma, 71, 853 East Belleview St., died Friday, April 14, 2000 at her home.
Joyce was born in Watertown, SD on June 11, 1928, the daughter of Arthur and Esther (Kornmann) Thomssen. She married Gordon A. Fuerstenau. He has died. She then married Lawrence Bylsma in Hull, IA.
She is survived by her husband, Lawrence and his children; Joyce's family: James (Kay) Fuerstenau, Hixton, WI, Charles Fuerstenau of Wanda, MN, Joel (Sarah) Fuerstenau, Racine, WI, Tamara (Steven) Koenig, Fountain City, WI, Nathan Fuerstenau of Wanda, MN, Deanna (Barry) Corder, Cottonwood, MN, and Geoffrey Fuerstenau, Milwaukee, WI; seventeen grandchildren; one great-grandchild; a special family friend, Patti Buck of Sarona, WI; a brother, Eugene (Jolene) Thomssen of Columbine, CO; and two sisters, Marjorie (James) Tormey, Rapid City, SD and Valois (George) Strandell, Hot Springs, SD.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Mark, a grandson, one brother and one sister.
She will be missed dearly by her family and friends. She was our touchstone and guiding light, and lived her faith. She graciously and courageously battled cancer and is now at eternal rest with Christ.
Funeral services were Monday, April 17 at St. Matthew's Evangelical Lutheran Church with Rev. Oliver H. Lindholm and James Nelson officiating. Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery.
Honorary casketbearers were nephews, Ronald Craig Johnson, Kelly Johnson, Tracy Johnson, Michael Tormey and Eric Thomssen.
