Popplewell, Ivie W.
Ivie W. Popplewell, 77, of Houston, Minn., died Wednesday, January 15, 2003, at Valley View Nursing Home in Houston.
Funeral services were Monday, January 20, at Hoff Funeral Homes - Houston Chapel, with Rev. John Wagonaar officiating. Burial will take place in Texas at a later date.
Zenk, Elsie Louise
Elsie Louise Zenk, 79, of Lake Winona Manor, died Saturday, January 18, 2003, at Winona Community Memorial Hospital.
She was born August 21, 1923, in Money Creek Township, Minn., to Frank and Ellen (Harriet) Ellis. She married Richard C. Zenk on October 4, 1941, in Winona. He preceded her in death on March 13, 1995.
Survivors include four sons, Richard Zenk of Rochester, Minn., Robert (Elizabeth) Zenk, Larry Zenk, and Steven Zenk, all of Winona; a daughter, Sharon (Gary) Pollard of Winona; seventeen grandchildren; and fourteen great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Richard, a daughter, Sandra Oehlert, a son-in-law, Duewaine Oehlert, a grandson, and a sister, Hazel.
Funeral services were Tuesday, January 21, at Watkowski-Pronschinske Funeral Home, with Chaplain Kathy Redig officiating. Burial was in Bush Cemetery, Ridgeway, Minn.
Pallbearers were her grandchildren.

McElmury, Eric
Eric Jon "Spanky" McElmury, 29, of Kasson, Minn., died Saturday, January 18, 2003, in Stockton, Minn.
Eric was born on October 5, 1973, in Winona, to Roger and Susan Schreiner McElmury. He graduated from Winona Senior High School in 1993. He married Ella Elkerton in Winona. They were later divorced. He married Tanya Jobe on April 20, 2002, in Byron, Minn.
Eric was employed for many years at Winona Heating and Ventilating Company, and most recently at the Best Western-Soldiers Field in Rochester, Minn.
He is a member of Mount Moriah Lutheran Church in Byron, Minn., Central Lutheran Church and the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Rochester.
He enjoyed hunting and camping and helping anyone that needed help.
He is survived by his wife, Tanya of Kasson; his mother, Susan Schreiner of Stockton; his father and stepmother, Roger and Diane McElmury of Glendale, Ariz.; former stepfather, Jack Roberts of Stockton; his mother-and father-in-law, Judy and Elmer Jobe of Dodge Center, Minn.; his maternal grandmother, Beulah Schreiner of Alma, Wis.; a brother, Brian (Ann) McElmury of Kasson; three stepbrothers, Scott (Suzanne) Roberts of Winona, Jack (Jodi) Roberts Jr. of LaCrescent, Minn., and David (Jennifer) McCall of Arizona; a stepsister, Christine McCall of Arizona; his favorite niece and nephew, Samantha and Alexander McElmury; a sister-in-law, Tammy Jobe of Kasson; a brother-in-law, Troy Jobe of New Hope; aunts, uncles and cousins; and two favorite cats, Max and Spunkers.
Eric was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Boyce Schreiner, his paternal grandparents, Jess and Reda McElmury, niece, Baby McElmury, and brother-in-law, Tate Jobe.
Funeral services were Tuesday, January 21, at Central Lutheran Church, with Rev. Scott Olson officiating.
Casketbearers were Derek and Darrin Aarre, Brandon McElmury, Scott Roberts, Jack Roberts Jr., and Jason McElmury.
Memorials may be directed to the Stockton First Responders.
Martin-Myhre Funeral Home assisted with the arrangements.
Eric was a very loving and caring person. He will be missed by all.
Walter, Mardelle K.
Mardelle K. Walter, 94, died Saturday, January 18, 2003, at St. Anne Extended Healthcare, Winona.
She was born November 30, 1908, to Liborius and Elizabeth (Kauphusman) Mraz in Brainerd, Minn. She attended Brainerd Schools and Business College.
Mardelle was a resident of Virginia, Minn., from 1946-1986, where she was Past President of the Virginia Hospital Auxiliary, Past President of the Toastmistress Club, Business and Professional Women's Club, Past President of the Council of Catholic Women, and Holy Spirit Guild.
She married John Peters in 1942. In 1986, she married Carlus E. Walter. The ceremony was held in Duluth with Bishop Robert Brom presiding.
She is survived by her husband, Carlus E. Walter of St. Anne Extended Healthcare; a foster son, William Christian (Mary) of Phoenix, Ariz; a stepson, William Walter (Barbara) of Wayzata, Minn.; stepdaughters, Mary Dreas of Schofield, Wis., Therese Schiller (Vernon) of Bloomington, Minn., Barbara King (George) of Storm Lake, Iowa, and Charlotte Ritter (Lawrence) of St. Paul, Minn.; a stepdaughter-in-law, Pamela Walter of Phoenix; a sister-in-law, Therese Walter of Winona; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, John, seven brothers and five sisters.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held Tuesday, January 21, at St. Anne Extended Healthcare in the Chapel of Our Lady, with Rev. Virgil Duellman officiating. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery, Brainerd, Minn.

Rolbiecki, Pamela Suzanne
Pamela Suzanne Rolbiecki, 24, formerly of Winona, died Sunday, January 19, 2003, in Tucson, Ariz.

Moxness, Alfred C.
Alfred C. Moxness, 89, of Faribault, Minn., died Monday, January 20, 2003, at the District One Hospital in Faribault, following a sudden illness.
Alfred Conrad Moxness, the son of Alfred J. and Serena (Aadland) Moxness, was born on January 29, 1913, in Andover, SD. He graduated from New York Mills High School. He worked for a number of years as a printer with the Faribault Daily News. He was united in marriage to Patricia "Patsy" Jones on April 24, 1940, in Faribault.
In 1952, they moved to St. Paul, where he worked as a printer for Webb Publishing for 26 years. They lived in St. Paul for 49 years before returning to Faribault in 2001.
He is survived by his wife, Patsy Moxness of Faribault; three children, Bill Moxness of Robbinsdale, Minn., Richard Moxness of Minneapolis, and Mary Moxness of Winona; by a grandson, Greg Moxness; and by other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and by two brothers, Neil and Harley Moxness.
Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, January 23, at the Divine Mercy Catholic Church at Immaculate Conception in Faribault. Visitation will be Thursday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the church.
Arrangements are being completed by the Parker Kohl Funeral Home of Faribault.
Richter, Mary A.
Mary A. Richter, 95, of 1347 West Broadway, died Wednesday, February 19, 2003, at St. Anne Extended Healthcare, Winona.
Mary was born September 28, 1907, in Winona, to Stephen and Veronica (Grochowski) Kierlin. She married Donald K. Richter on May 30, 1941, in Winona. He died April 1, 1975.
She was a member of St. Stanislaus Kostka Parish and Harvest House. She worked at Stott & Son Company as a glove inspector until her retirement.
Mary is survived by two sisters, Frances (Frank) Menzel and Florence Thrune; and nieces and nephews.
Her husband, parents, five brothers and five sisters preceded her in death.
A Mass of Christian Burial was offered Saturday, February 22, at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church with Rev. Daniel R. Dernek officiating. Burial was in St. Mary's Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Mary's nephews.

Nelton, Ruth Krage Hardtke
Ruth Hardtke Nelton, 89, of Lake Winona Manor, died Monday, March 3, 2003.
Ruth was born in Winona County on January 27, 1914, to Alfred and Laura Krage.
Two sons survive her: Jim Nelton of Winona and Dave Nelton (Cassandra) of Appleton, Wis. She also has two grandchildren, Alex and Grant Nelton, children of Dave and Cassandra. Ruth has two sisters and a brother still living: Winnifred (Eldon) Schramm of Smithfield, Ill., Laura (Kenneth) Smith of Winona, and Alfred (Winnifred) Krage of Yakima, Wash.
Her husbands, Howard Nelton and Albert Hardtke, preceded her in death. Two brothers also preceded her in death: Edward (Ruby) Krage of Winona and Hamlin (Helen) Krage of Milwaukee.
Ruth faced many challenges in life and found great joy in being a grandma. A highlight of visits to grandma's was the homemade cookies and bread. Her house was always open to friends, with Sunday dinner being the meal of the week when everyone gathered to talk.
Grandma had a "green thumb." The windowsills of her home were filled with pots of purple and white African violets. The flowerbeds around the house were filled with roses, snapdragons, petunias, zinnias and other colorful flowers.
Ruth's family extends a special thank you to the Lake Winona Manor staff for all the love and care they provided for Ruth.
Ruth was a wonderful mom and grandma. She is loved and will be missed.
Funeral services were Saturday, March 8, at Martin-Myhre Funeral Home. A reception followed at the Winona Church of the Nazarene.
Repinski, Florence J.
Florence J. Repinski, 82, formerly of 807 East Front St., died Wednesday, March 5, 2003, at Lake Winona Manor.
She was born April 16, 1920, in Winona, to Larry and Helen (Gostomczyk) Rymarkiewicz. She married Michael P. Repinski Sr. on October 15, 1938, in Sacred Heart Church, Pine Creek, Wis. Michael died September 5, 2000.
She was a member of St. Stanislaus Kostka Parish.
Survivors include three sons, Donald (Barbara) of Minnesota City, Minn., Michael (Judith) of Homer, Minn., and Dennis (Sharon) of Irving, Texas; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Dorothy Paskiewicz of Winona and Mildred Bosteter of Eugene, Ore.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a daughter, Patricia Ann, one sister and four brothers.
A Mass of Christian Burial was offered Friday, March 7, at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church with Rev. Daniel R. Dernek officiating. Burial was in St. Mary's Cemetery.
Pallbearers were her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and a nephew.
