Walsky, Timothy John

Timothy John Walsky of Galesville, Wis., died Friday, August 16, 2002 at the result of an automobile accident.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, August 21, at the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart in Winona, with Rev. Shawn Haremza officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Winona.

Osowski, Roger L., Sr.

Roger L. Osowski, Sr., 65, of Omaha, NE., died Friday, August 16, 2002 at NHS-University Hospital in Omaha.
Services were Tuesday, August 20, at St. Thomas More Church in Omaha. Interment was in Graceland Park Cemetery, Omaha.

Wagner, Jacob Michael

Jacob Michael Wagner, 16, of Lewiston, Minn., died Saturday, August 17, 2002 from injuries sustained in a car accident.
Jacob was born in Winona on May 28, 1986 to David and Nancy Moulton Wagner. He would have been a junior this fall at Lewiston-Altura High School. Jacob was a member of St. Paul's UCC-ELCA Church in Lewiston.
Jacob's easy-going nature and smile will be remembered and missed by many friends and relatives who knew him. He had a great sense of humor and enjoyed his life. Jacob liked collecting movies and CDs, listening to "oldies, " going to ball games, sleeping late, shooting baskets with his brothers and spending time with family and friends. Jacob played football last year at Lewiston-Altura High School. He was successful at buying and selling items on the Internet auctions, and was recently employed by Burr Oak Farms of Stockton.
Jacob will be sadly missed by his parents, David and Nancy Wagner of Lewiston; brothers, Daniel and Caleb of Lewiston; paternal grandparents, Harry and Ardyth Wagner of Goodview, Minn.; maternal grandmother, Maye Moulton of Fonda, Iowa; aunts, Mary Ellen Withers of River Forest, Ill., Sue (Darryl) Smelzer of Rollingstone, Minn; and uncles, Brent (Ann) Wagner of Winona, Steven "Mitch" (Sherry) Wagner of Winona, George (Patty) Moulton, III of Prole, Iowa, and Sam (Virginia) Withers of St. Louis, MO.
Jacob was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, George Moulton, Jr.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, August 21, at 10 a.m. at St. Paul's UCC and ELCA Church in Lewiston, with Rev. Roy H. Rogers officiating. Friends may call at the church on Wednesday from 9-10 a.m. Interment will be in Lewiston Public Cemetery.
Casketbearers are Jed Kronebusch, Mitch Thompson, Ryan Theede, Kevin Wagner, Larry Boyer and Scott Engler.
Honorary bearers are Shane Hill, Travis Spencer, Brent Hill, Jared Bonow, Paul Brown, Marc Tiedemann, John Mraz, Aaron Clark, Phil Schollmeier, Graham Brasic, Ben Mitchell and Andrew Doehling.
Memorial gifts may be given to St. Paul's UCC and ELCA Church or Lewiston-Altura High School.

Booher, Tami Jo

Tami Jo Booher, 26, of Winona, and formerly of Buffalo City, Wis., died Friday, August 9, 2002, at Community Memorial Hospital, Winona.
She was born October 14, 1975 in Winona, to Bill and Darlene (Strelow) Meyer. She graduated from Cochrane-Fountain City High School in 1994, where she had participated in basketball and volleyball. On May 15, 1999 she married Douglas Booher at St. Martin's Ev. Lutheran Church in Winona.
Tami Jo loved spending time with her nephews and being on the river.
Survivors include her husband, Douglas of Winona; her parents, Bill and Darlene Meyer of Buffalo City, Wis.; two sisters, Deanne (Jim) Isakson of Trempealeau, Wis., and Teri (Chad) Rumpel of Fountain City, Wis.; her grandfather, Eugene Meyer of Buffalo City, Wis.; five nephews, Josh, Korey and Erik Isakson, Brandon Marin and Cody Rumpel; marital grandparents, Douglas and Melve Youngmark of Cambridge, Minn.; mother-in-law, Gail Sloan of Coon Rapids, Minn.; sister-in-law, Tammy Kennedy of Minneapolis, Minn.; brother-in-law, David Booher of Cambridge, Minn.; and aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by three grandparents.
Funeral services were Monday, August 12, at the Stohr-Hagen-Wozney Funeral Home in Alma, Wis. Burial was in the Buffalo City Cemetery.
Pallbearers were members of the Cochrane-Fountain City High School Graduating Class of 1994.

Fischer, Leslee Lynn

Leslee Lynn Fischer, 43, died Monday, August 12, 2002, at her home in Sheldon. She was born on October 20, 1958, in Chicago, Ill. to LeRoy and Arleen (Babiash) Fischer. Leslee moved with her family to LaCrescent, Minn. at age 10. She graduated from LaCrescent High School. Leslee lived in LaCrescent until moving to Sheldon five years ago. She had currently been employed at Riverside Electronics in Rushford, Minn. She was a very devoted mother and grandmother. When Leslee entered a room, it would light up because of her outgoing personality. Leslee would always put other people's needs ahead of her own. She is survived by her paternal grandmother Vivian Lutkat; father LeRoy Fischer of LaCrosse, Wis.; mother, Arlene (Ronald) Nelson of LaCrescent, Minn. one son: Gregory Charles (Jackline) Fischer of Sun Prairie Wis.; two grandchildren: Gregory and Lauren; two brothers: Michael Fischer of LaCrosse, Wis. and Mark Fischer of Kankakee, Ill.; two sisters: Cathy Fischer of Minneapolis, Minn. and LeAnn (Brian) Kruger of Waupon, Wis.; and by her fiancé, Bob Knutson of Sheldon, Minn. Leslee was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents and by her paternal grandfather. The funeral service will be at 11: 00 a.m. on Friday, August 16, at Hoff Funeral Homes ­ Houston Chapel in Houston, Minn. with the Rev. Lane Zaffke officiating. Burial will be in the Crucifixion Catholic Cemetery in LaCrescent, Minn. The visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday and one hour prior to the funeral on Friday at Hoff Funeral Homes ­ Houston Chapel.

Habeck, Paul F.

Paul F. Habeck, 52, of 377 Main St., Winona, died Saturday, August 10, 2002 in the Intensive Care Unit of Community Memorial Hospital.
Paul was born on March 22, 1950 in Winona, to Edward and Linda Haake Habeck.
He attended the DAC and worked through ORC at Bub's, Winona State University, the YMCA, and several other places.
He is a member of St. Martin's Evangelical Lutheran Church.
He is survived by brothers, Richard (Jane), Ronald (Marlene) and Wayne (Lucille), all of Winona, and Dale (Ramona) of Galesville, Wis.; sisters, Diane Erdmann of Lamoille, Minn., Donna (Marvin) Rupprecht of Winona, and Darlene Michalowski of Winona; many nieces and nephews; aunt and uncles, Ruth Bublitz, Alfred, Otto and Roy (Iris) Haake. Paul also had many friends through his association with Home and Community Options.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Kenneth.
Funeral services were Monday, August 12, at St. Martin's Evangelical Lutheran Church, with Rev. Frederick Buth officiating. Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery.
Casketbearers were Paul's brothers and sisters.
Memorials may be made to Home and Community Options.

Burchard, Cherry L.

Cherry L. Burchard, 49, of rural Alma, Wis., and formerly of Modena, Wis., died Thursday, August 8, 2002 at Methodist Hospital, Rochester, Minn.
Funeral services were Monday, August 12, at Poeschel Funeral Home in Mondovi, Wis., with Rev. Clifford Biel officiating.

Brom, Arthur L.

Arthur L. Brom was born April 8, 1909 to Martin and Celia (Walski) Brom in Pine Creek, Wis. He married Violet Dickson on March 30, 1935 in Winona. His wife of 53 years passed away October 6, 1988. He was a resident of Winona for the past 50 years.
Arthur was educated in schools in Arcadia and Pine Creek, Wis. He was employed at the bank of Dodge, Wis. for two years. He was captain of the tug, "Alma and Yvonne" during the construction of the dams on the Mississippi River, the Winona High Bridge and the Winona Airport. He was also a steamhoisting engineer and operated other heavy equipment.
He was employed by the City of Winona in 1948 and was the Street Commissioner for 16 years, retiring in 1974.
During the flood of 1965, Arthur was instrumental in the leadership of construction of the dikes and coordination of all operations.
He enjoyed playing golf and cards with his friends at Westfield. He also enjoyed ballroom dancing and was a member of the Winona Area Ballroom Dance Club which he initially helped to start.
Arthur was a promoter of sports in the area and gave his time to youth hockey and baseball as manager and coach. Mr. Brom was a lifetime member of Westfield Golf Club and played an important role in the development of the course.
He was a member of the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart Parish, Redmen and Twenty-Four Hour Club, former member of the Athletic Club, Civic Association, Centerville Curling Club and Hoisting Engineers of Minnesota.
He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, 5 brothers, 1 sister, and a friend, Terry Lockwood.
He is survived by nieces and nephews and a faithful friend and companion, Barbara Carpenter and the Norv and Judy Lockwood family.
A Polka Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, August 14, at 10 a.m. at the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart Church. Visitation will be one hour prior to the Mass at the church on Wednesday. Private interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. The Rev. John M. Sauer will officiate.
Pallbearers will be Lance Carrol, Richard VanHorn, Rick Lockwood, Donald Larson, Jr., Paul Worner and Steve Worner.

Ballard, Lester Laverne

Lester Laverne Ballard, 70, formerly of Lewiston, Minn. and Winona, went to meet his Savior on Thursday, August 8, 2002, surrounded by his family after a heart attack in Scottsdale, Ariz.
Les was born July 28, 1932 in Danube, Minn. to Ray and Katherine (Seehausen) Ballard. Les and Eloise Redman were married December 19, 1951 and later divorced. He and Shirley Glende were married May 5, 1979.
He retired from Interstate Power in 1991 after 42 years of service. Since retirement he has been traveling the Midwest, guiding pheasant hunting with family and friends.
Les had been involved in Lewiston Businessmen's Club, Lions Club, Scouting as a Scout Master, Lewiston Sportsmen's Club, and was a basketball coach at St. John's School. Les had a heart for people shown through charity work, saving lives and dedication to Scouting.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley of Winona; four children, Greg Ballard of Scottsdale, Ariz., Brad (Sherri) Ballard of Winona, Sheri (Robert) Lundstrom of Plymouth, Minn., and Gary (Angela) Ballard of Pilot Point, Tex.; a brother, Edwin Ballard of Hutchinson, Minn.; a sister, Alice Myers of Florida; eight grandchildren, Allen (Debbie) Kronebusch, Joseph Ballard, Amy Ballard, Andrea (Andy) Wright, Jennifer Lundstrom, Eric Lundstrom, Amalia Ballard, and Victoria Ballard; step-grandchildren, Brandon Kroch and Travis Krogh; an uncle, Francis Ballard of Arizona; and nieces, nephews and cousins.
Memorial services will be at 4 p.m. Friday, August 16, at St. John's Lutheran School auditorium in Lewiston with Rev. Larry Ballard officiating.
Hoff Funeral Home-Lewiston Chapel is assisting with the arrangements.

Stewart, Jack Donald

Jack Donald Stewart, 66, of Pepin, Wis., died Thursday, August 8, 2002 at St. Mary's Hospital, Rochester, Minn.
A memorial service was held Saturday, August 10, at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Pepin, with Pastor Karra Baseman-Stark officiating.

Vorbeck, Mildred H.

Mildred H. Vorbeck, 82, 165 East Fourth St., died Monday, August 12, 2002 at her home.
She was born February 26, 1920 in Winona. She married Donald Delmar Vorbeck, who preceded her in death. They had two children.
Funeral services will be Thursday, August 15, at 11 a.m. at Fawcett-Junker Funeral Home. Friends may call Thursday one hour prior to the service at the funeral Home. Burial will be in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Wilson, Minn.
Fawcett-Junker Funeral Home and Cremation Services is assisting with the arrangements.
