Pruka, Harry

Harry Pruka, 66, died Sunday, May 5, 2002 at Fairview Red Wing Medical Center.
He was born on October 6, 1935 in Winona, to Anton and Delphine Ehlers Pruka.
He had been a resident of the Faribault State Hospital, the Green Brier Home in St. Paul and most recently REM Park Heights in Red Wing.
He loved horses, big bands and country music.
He is survived by sisters Alma Miller of Winona and Katherine (Raymond) Ledebuhr of Lewiston, Minn.; several nieces and nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
Funeral services will be Thursday, May 9, at 11 a.m. at Martin-Myhre Funeral Chapel with Rev. Timothy Dost officiating. Burial will be in Witoka Cemetery.
Visitation will be Thursday morning after 10 a.m. at the funeral home.
Martin-Myhre Funeral Home is assisting with the arrangements.

Ziegler, Olive M.

Olive M. Ziegler, 87, of Trempealeau, Wis., died Saturday, May 4, 2002 at Marinuka Manor in Galesville, Wis.
Funeral services were Tuesday, May 7, at Christ Lutheran Church in Arcadia, Wis., with Rev. Arthur Sharot officiating. Burial was in Glencoe Lutheran Cemetery.

Osborne, Margaret C.

Margaret C. Osborne, 92, a lifelong resident of Winona and Goodview, passed away Sunday, May 5, 2002.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 8, at Immanuel Methodist Church.

Senrick, Alton

Alton G. Senrick, 84, of Cannon Falls, Minn., died Friday, May 3, 2002 at Angels Care Center in Cannon Falls.
Funeral services were Tuesday, May 7, at St. Ansgar's Lutheran Church in Cannon Falls, with Rev. Gary Schulz officiating. Burial was in Cannon Falls Cemetery.

Schultz, Thomas W.

Thomas W. Schultz, 48, passed away Monday, February 11, 2002 in Corpus Christi, Tex.
Tom was born May 11, 1953 in Minneapolis, Minn., to Joseph and Florence (Benck) Schultz, Jr.
Tom is survived by his wife of eight years, Tara Schultz of Corpus Christi; his father, Joe Schultz, Jr., of Rollingstone, Minn.; two brothers, Joe Carl Schultz (Nancy) of Hutchinson, Minn., and Dan Schultz of Los Angeles, Cal.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Florence Benck Schultz and his stepmother, Lois Olson Schultz.
A service was held in Corpus Christi on Saturday, February 23.
A memorial service will be held in Winona on Friday, May 10, at 7 p.m. at Faith Lutheran Church, 1717 Service Drive, Winona., with Rev. Duane Baarseth officiating. Friends may call on Friday, May 10 from 6-7 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Tom Schultz's name to: The Nature Conservancy of Minnesota, 1313 Fifth Street SE, Suite 320, Minneapolis, MN 55414.

Schreiber, Wilfrid P.

Wilfrid P. "Bill" Schreiber, age 88, passed away June 25, 2002 at Saint Anne Extended Healthcare, Winona.
He was born here in Winona, August 20, 1913, son of Andrew and Martha (Meier) Schreiber. They later moved to Rochester where he graduated from Rochester High School. After retiring from the TRANE Co., LaCrosse, WI in 1976, he lived in Lake Havasu City, AZ and Chula Vista, CA.
His beloved wife Elsie M. (nee Schultz) died May 15, 1991 in Lake Havasu City, AZ, shortly before their 55th wedding anniversary. They had no children.
He was a USMC WWII veteran, an active member of the American Legion, member of Knights of Columbus and lifetime member of the Republican National Party.
His three siblings: brother, Robert J (Irene), sisters, Virginia (Phil) Walton and Elizabeth "Betty" (Harding) Johnson preceded him in death.
He is survived by many nieces and nephews. Burial will be in Lake Havasu Memorial Gardens in Lake Havasu City.
A memorial mass in Winona will be set for a later date.
Arrangements are being completed by the Fawcett-Junker Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Winona.

Speltz, Bernita

Bernita Speltz, 83, formerly of Rollingstone, Minn., died Tuesday, June 25, 2002 at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center, LaCrosse, Wis.
Bernita was born July 3, 1919 in Manchester, Iowa to Ferdinand and Eva (Schneider) Walter. On November 25, 1947 she married Thomas A. Speltz in Winona. He died November 25, 1992.
She worked with her husband and brother-in-law at the Speltz Chick Hatchery in Rollingstone. She was also a secretary for the Diocese of Winona for many years, retiring in 1989.
She was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Rollingstone and the St. Nicholas-St. Theresa Society. Bernita was an avid volunteer, helping school children in Rollingstone and aiding residents of St. Anne of Winona. She was recently honored for her volunteer efforts during Volunteer Week at St. Anne of Winona.
Bernita was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and will be sadly missed by her family and friends.
Survivors include her son, Patrick of St. Paul, Minn.; two daughters, Jolene (Robert) Overbeck of Venice, Cal., and Linda (Joseph) Lowther of Winona; grandchildren, Zoe and Joseph Overbeck, Michael and Jacob Lowther and Christopher Speltz; great-grandchildren, Jenna and Blaine Lowther; one brother, Carlus (Mardele) Walter of Winona; and one sister, Theresa Walter of Winona.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Tom, brother, Severin, and sister, Marcella.
A Funeral Mass will be offered at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 2, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Rollingstone with Rev. Michael Cronin officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call on Monday from 5-8 p.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church where there will be a Christian Prayer Service at 7:30 p.m. Friends may also call one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday.

Helleland, Cheryl L.

Cheryl L. Helleland, 53, of Rushford died Tuesday, June 25, 2002, at her home following a courageous battle with cancer. She was born on March 16, 1949, in Rushford, to Louis and Helen (Gielow) Kingsley. Cheryl was raised in Rushford and graduated from Rushford High School in 1967. She married Leon Helleland in Money Creek, Minn. on July 25, 1967. Cheryl worked in various places in Rushford up until the time of her illness in 1996. She was a member of the Rushford Lutheran Church in Rushford where she was active on the church council and was a Sunday school teacher. She was a member of the Federated Women for the Arts in Rushford. Cheryl enjoyed crafts, reading, her family and especially children. She is survived by her husband Leon; her mother Helen Kingsley of Rushford; one son: Brian (Lisa) Helleland of Scottsdale, Arizona; one daughter: Michelle (Chris) Vitse of Peterson, Minn.; four grandchildren: Riley, Morgan, Tamara, Jamie, plus one grandson who will be born any day; four brothers: Edward Kingsley and Roger (Mary) Kingsley, both of Houston; Ronald Kingsley of LaCrosse, Wis., and Randy Kingsley of Rushford. She was preceded in death by her father, and one brother Ray.
The funeral service was at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, June 28, at Rushford Lutheran Church in Rushford with the Rev. Roger Michaelson officiating. Burial was in the Rushford Lutheran Cemetery.

Schollmeier, Heloise

Heloise Schollmeier, 76, of Winona died August 16 at Community Memorial Hospital in Winona.
She was born in Winona to Alfred and Augusta Plank on March 9, 1926, and baptized at St. Stanislous Church in Winona. She has been a member of St. John's parish since 1968.
She married Carl Schollmeier on November 9, 1946, in Winona, Minnesota. They lived in Cochrane, Wisconsin, before moving to Austin, Minnesota, and returning to Winona in 1968.
She will be remembered for her many years of working in food services and at the College of St. Teresa before retiring from Community Memorial Hospital in 1993. Those who knew Heloise knew that despite having growing children, and even during lean times, she would always have room for another plate at the table in case someone else would stop by. She would feed the world if she had the resources.
Survivors include daughter Carol Schollmeier, Austin, Minnesota, grandchild Jeffrey (Pam) Klingfus; great grandchildren Bailey and Zachary, Prior Lake Minnesota and Christine (Phil) Kunze, Grand Marais, Minnesota. Sons Charles (Sandy) Schollmeier, grandchildren Megan and Ginny, Winona, Minnesota, Gary (Peg) Schollmeier, Duluth, Minnesota, John Schollmeier, grandchildren Michael (Heather) Schollmeier, Indianapolis, Indiana, Nick, Phillip and Greg, Lewiston, Minnesota, Paul (Chris Meyer) Schollmeier, Rollingstone, Minnesota, Alan (Nancy) Schollmeier, grandchildren Carl James (CJ) and Sam, Rochester, Minnesota. She is also survived by one sister Mary Jane May, Winona, Minnesota.
Her parents, her husband, infant son Gene, and sister Ruth preceded her in death.
Mass of Christian burial will be at St. Stanislous Church on Saturday, August 24 at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers Memorials can be sent to the Dan Corcoran House in Winona.

Rislove, JoAnn D.

JoAnn D. Rislove, 54, of Rushford died Saturday, August 17, 2002, at her home. JoAnn was born on November 27, 1947, in LaCrosse, Wis. to Melvin "Bud" and Dolores (Balduan) Schmidt. She was raised in Caledonia, Minn. until the sixth grade when she moved with her family to Rushford. JoAnn graduated from Rushford High School in 1965. She had worked at Rushford State Bank since 1966. On May 19, 1973, she married Doug Rislove in Rushford. She was a member of the St. Marks Lutheran Church in Rushford where she was a member of the Board of Stewards and was treasurer for three years. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and was in the past presidents group of the auxiliary. JoAnn's family was the center of her life. Joann was a devoted wife, mother, and aunt. She also enjoyed following Rushford ­ Peterson athletic events. JoAnn is survived by her husband, Doug; mother, Dolores of Rushford; two daughters: Ellen Rislove of Hopkins, Minn. and Leah Rislove of Rushford; two brothers: Richard (Amy) Schmidt of Sommerset Wis. and Jerry Schmidt of Waterloo, Iowa; one sister: JanDeen (Mitch) Bublitz of Houston, Minn. She was preceded in death by her father. The funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 21, at Rushford Lutheran Church in Rushford with the Rev. William Mueller officiating. Burial will be at the Rushford Lutheran Cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday at Hoff Funeral Homes ­ Rushford Chapel and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the church. The family prefers memorials to be directed to the Gundersen ­ Lutheran Cancer Building Fund or to the St. Marks Lutheran Church Building Fund.

Richter, Erwin Philip

Erwin Philip Richter, 81, of Lewiston died Saturday afternoon at the emergency room of Winona Community Memorial Hospital.
Erwin was born April 17, 1921 in Lewiston to Herman and Augusta (Janzow) Richter. He was baptized as a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church at Silo where he has been a longtime member. Erwin and Elizabeth "Betty" Schneiter were married February 26, 1949 at Litchfield, MN and made their home in Lewiston. He spent his early years as a dairy farmer and farmed north of Lewiston. He was active in the insurance and real estate business and owned and operated the Richter Agency for over 40 years.
Erwin was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church at Silo where he held many church offices and was also involved in the SE Minnesota District of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod. He was a member of the Lewiston Chamber of Commerce, was involved in the SE Minnesota Board of Realtors, active in the Republican Party and was a member of the Gideon's.
Survivors include his wife Betty, six children, Liz (Bruce) Hobert of Mt. Dora, Florida; Margi (Phil) McLain of Winston-Salem, NC; Ruth (Ed) Doepel of Aurora, IL; John (Denise) Richter of Charlotte, NC; Jim (Sara) Richter of Bellville, MI and Bill Richter of Lewiston, 18 grandchildren, two sisters, Esther Marxhausen of Rollingstone and Dorothy Zabel of Plainview, and a brother, Eldor Richter of Arlington Heights, IL. His parents and a sister Adeline preceded him in death.
Funeral Services will be 10:30 AM Wednesday at Immanuel Lutheran Church at Silo in rural Lewiston with the Rev. William Meilner officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 4-8 PM Tuesday at Hoff Funeral Home's - Lewiston Chapel. They may also call one hour before services at the church.
