Rossa, Chester J.

Chester J. Rossa, 84, of Arcadia, WI, passed away on Tuesday, November 19, 2002 at the Franciscan Skemp Healthcare Medical Center in Arcadia.
He was born July 29, 1918 in Arcadia to John and Maria (Slabik) Rossa. Chester had been the owner/operator of a TV and Radio Repair business.
He is survived by nieces and nephews and was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Marion Rossa, on December 25, 1969.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, November 22, 2002 at Holy Family Parish/Upper Unit (formerly St. Stanislaus Catholic Church) in Arcadia, with Rev. Patrick Umberger officiating. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery, Arcadia.

Pawlak, Robert G.

Robert G. Pawlak, 78 of Arcadia died on Tuesday, November 19, 2002, at Lake Winona Manor in Winona, MN. He was born of May 14, 1924 in La Crosse, WI to Dominic and Alice (Bagniewski) Pawlak. He was a self-employed farmer and had worked at Benusa Imp. for many years.
He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church (Upper Unit) in Arcadia. He is survived by one brother, Edward (Armella) Pawlak of Winona, and one sister, Marian (Ben) Benusa of Arcadia, 4 nieces, Bonnie Streuber, Tammy Pawlak, Michelle Pawlak, and Kelly Wax, special friend Helen Davis and two special little boys, Mike and Brock. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Delores Keith, and two nephews, Daniel and Dale Benusa.
Mass of Christian burial was held on at 1:00 p.m. Friday, November 22, 2002, at the Holy Family Parish with the Rev. Patrick Umberger officiating, burial was at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Pine Creek. Serving as casket bearers were Tammy and Michelle Pawlak, Dave Schabacker, John Janscek, and Tim and Tom Skiewert.
The Killian Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Loerch, Clarence A.

Clarence A. Loerch, 91, of 525 Glenview Drive, Winona. died Saturday, November 9th at
his home. He was born in Winona County on April 18, 1911 the son of William and Elizabeth (Farnholtz) Loerch.
On October 8, 1938 he married Mildred R. Kalouner, she preceded him in death on Sept. 2, 1995.
Mr. Loerch was a talented businessman. He was first employed as a paper carrier for the Winona Republican Herald. He then worked as a salesman for Armour and Company.
From 1946 to 1950 he operated the Buy Rite Meat Market in Rushford, MN. In 1950 he purchased the Allis Chalmers Implement dealership in Houston, MN. He added the Massey Ferguson Implements in 1956 which he sold until April 2002 when he dissolved the business. He also was an active partner in building and operating the Trojan Theater in Rushford from 1953 to 1975.
He was a member of the Presbyterian Chuch.
Mr. Loerch is survived by three sons-Lee (Ione) Loerch, Peterson, MN., Mark Philip Loerch, Winona and Richard (Dawn) Loerch, Hales Corners, WI. Three grandchildren, Robin Loerch and husband, Alex Kershaw, Bennington, VT., Raliegh (Wanda) Loerch, St. Paul, MN., and Stacey Loerch, Hales Corners, WI. One great grandson, Felix Loerch.
Preceeding him in death were his parents, wife, a grandson-David and a brother-Lubertus.
A Memorial service for Clarence will be held on Monday, November 25th at 2:00P.M. at Grace Presbyterian Church, Winona, Rev. Hugh Drennan officiating. Interment of his cremated human remains will be in Frank Hill Cemetery, Wilson, MN.
Honorary bearers will be Grace Nelson, Carroll Hill, Gary "Skip" Hoveland, Carl Morken, Ronald Nelson and Matt Reeck.
Memorial gifts may be directed to Grace Presbyterian Church or the donor's choice.

Boyum, Andrew G.

Andrew George Boyum, 69, of rural Utica died Monday evening November 18th at Whitewater Healthcare Center in St. Charles.
Andrew was born May 30, 1933, in Fremont Township of Winona County to Andrew K. and Ida (Brattgjerde) Boyum. He graduated from Peterson High School and has farmed on the family Century Farm in Fremont Township his entire life. Andrew and Rachel Marquardt were married on June 27, 1981, in Dodge Center. Rachel is an Olmsted County Public Health Nurse.
Andrew loved to travel, he enjoyed family genealogy, Norwegian heritage and collecting antiques. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church of St. Charles.
Survivors include his wife Rachel, two daughters, Andrea and Britta, both at home, two brothers, Kenley (Louise) Boyum of Plymouth and Goodwin (Amy) Boyum of Kenyon, a sister, Imogene (Allan) Nelson of Northfield, three brothers-in-law, John (Laura) Marquardt; Harry (Arlinda) Marquardt; and Ronald (Carol) Marquardt, two sisters-in-law, Helen (Charles) Swendiman and Marian (Herb) Saemrow. His parents and twin infant brothers preceded him in death.
Funeral Services were Friday at Faith Lutheran Church in St. Charles with Pastor Ramie Bakken officiating. Burial followed in Arendahl Lutheran Cemetery in rural Peterson. Hoff Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.

Johnson, Earl G.

Earl G. Johnson, 89, of Money Creek, Minn., died Monday, November 25, 2002, at Community Memorial Hospital, Winona.
Funeral services were Friday, November 29, at the Money Creek United Methodist Church in Money Creek, with Pastor Fauntie Wilcoxon officiating. Burial was in the Money Creek Cemetery.

Snyder, Marcia Lois

Marcia Lois Snyder, a former resident of Winona, passed away October 27, 2002, in Santa Fe, NM, where she had lived since 1982.
She was born August 16, 1921, and orphaned at an early age. In 1992 a sudden stroke robbed her of her independence, her signature trait. She embraced life and lived it to the fullest and enjoyed spending her days with her family.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Joseph; their four daughters, Mary Jo Snyder, Elizabeth Ronquillo, Monica Moir and husband Dave, and Connie Russell and husband John; a brother, Donald Luedtke of Charlevoix, Mich., and his family; nine grandchildren; one great-grandson, with another on the way; and many relatives and friends.
A private ceremony in honor of her life was held by her family. They request that you donate Christmas gifts or groceries to a needy family this coming holiday season through a charity of your choice.

Biesanz, Helen Louise

Helen Louise Biesanz, 80, Winona, died Wednesday, November 27, 2002.
A memorial service was held Saturday, November 30, at Central United Methodist Church with Rev. Mary Hurmence officiating.

Kronebusch, Mary L.

With a grateful heart for the blessings of this world, Mary Lucile Kronebusch entered eternal life on Wednesday morning, November 27, 2002.
During the past few months, Mary had continued to celebrate earth's riches with her family at the home of her daughter Kay, son-in-law Ray and grandchildren Marcus and Christopher in Oronoco.
Mary was born on the family farm near Altura on December 2, 1928 to Leonard and Lucile Walch. She attended Cathedral High School, Winona State Teachers College and taught sixth grade in Rushford. In 1950, Mary married Harlan Kronebusch. Together they raised their family of seven. The early years of their marriage were spent in Altura where they managed the H & H Café. This service and hospitality moved with them to their farm just east of Altura, which then became the hub of their life with family and friends.
Harlan died December 13, 1991.
Mary's faith in God and fidelity to family and friends were her strength and her purpose. Her nurturing spirit was apparent in her every action.
Survivors include seven children, Karen (Richard) Ahrens of Lewiston; Kevin (Jean) Kronebusch of Minnesota City; Kay (Raymond) Frick of Oronoco; Kristine Kronebusch of Eyota; Karla Kronebusch of Minnetonka; Kim (Sam) Giehtbrock of Stewartville; and Konnie (Bryan) Bicknese of Rochester; grandchildren, Emily Arens, Paula Wieczorek, Timothy Ahrens, Todd Kronebusch, Earl Gittens, Nicholas and Chelsea Kronebusch, Marcus and Christopher Frick, Molly and Hannah Giehtbrock, and Brandyn Bicknese. Great-grandchildren: Carstin Gittens, Matthew and Megan Arens, four sisters, Sister Cabrini Walch of Assisi Heights; Joan (Donald) Simon of Goldsboro, NC; Kathryn (Richard) Kreutter of Deephaven and Rita (James) Suchomel of Hopkins, two brothers Roman (Mary) Walch of Rollingstone and John (Rebecca) Walch of Zumbrota.
In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by a sister Genevieve Roth and a brother Thomas Walch.
There will be a Funeral Mass 10:30 AM Saturday at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Altura with the Rev. Peter Schuster officiating. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery Oak Ridge. Friends may call at St. Anthony Catholic Church one hour before services Saturday.
Hoff Funeral Home's - St. Charles Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
Johnson, Earl G.

Earl. G. Johnson, 89, of Money Creek died Monday, November 25, 2002, at the Winona Community Memorial Hospital in Winona, Minn. Earl was born on June 24, 1913, at the family farm in Money Creek to Albert and Ida (Unnasch) Johnson. Earl graduated from Winona Senior High School. On January 16, 1937, Earl married Evelyn Thompson at the Thompson home on Vinegar Hill. He lived all of his life on the family farm until moving to the Good Shepherd Lutheran Home in Rushford this past April. Earl was a dairy farmer who loved his farm. He was a very loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was a lifelong member of the Money Creek United Methodist Church where he was on the church board and sang with the church quartet for many funerals. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and the Scottish Rite. He is survived by his wife, Evelyn; three sons: Lowell (Donna) Johnson of DeWitt, Iowa, James (Joan) Johnson of Winona, Minn. and Steven (Lynne) Johnson of Viroqua, Wis.; two daughters: Eline (Arthur) Kleist of Rushford, Minn. and Carla Johnson of St. Paul, Minn.; 12 grandchildren: Brent, Brad, Thomas, Paul, Michelle, Rebecca, John, Danial, Vicki, Ruby, Thomas, and Stacey; 13 great grandchildren; and one brother, Sidney (Alice) Johnson of Galesville, Wis. He was preceded in death by one daughter, JoAnne, three grandchildren, one sister, and one brother.
The funeral service was Friday, November 29, at the Money Creek United Methodist Church in Money Creek with Pastor Fauntie Wilcoxon officiating. Burial was in the Money Creek Cemetery. Hoff Funeral Homes ­ Houston Chapel.

Biesanz, Helen L.

Helen Louise Biesanz died on November 27, 2002, from a short, yet courageous, battle with cancer. Born on July 27, 1922, to Helen and Fred Jacobson, Jake grew up in south Minneapolis and graduated from Washburn High School. She attended the University of Minnesota and on March 2, 1946 married Ted Biesanz, Sr. at Central Lutheran Church in Minneapolis. Shortly after, Ted and Helen moved to Rockford, Illinois, and four years later settled in Winona.
To all who knew and loved Helen, she was the gracious hostess for family, community, and business functions, showering friends, family, and even strangers with kindness and sincerity. She was the sunshine and laughter at numerous local clubs and events. Helen's spirit of leadership was evident as a member and past president of Portia Club, and chair/co-chair of CMH Birthday Balls. In addition, she was involved in Winona Country Club Women's Golf Association, Winona Bridge Marathon, local book clubs, and CMH Auxiliary (where she logged over 8500 volunteer hours).
Helen loved every minute spent with her four beloved sons and their families, teaching by example frugality, honesty, forgiveness, and unconditional love, intermixed with the joy of living.
Helen is survived by her husband, Ted Biesanz, Sr., sons and daughters-in-law: Steve & Kathy, Scott & Jane, Jeff & Francie, Ted, Jr. & Patti; 11 grandchildren: Jake, Matt, Chris Biesanz; Jill, Jenny & Nick Biesanz; Samantha & Taylor Snider; Trip, Rory, & Molly Biesanz; and brother Russ (Grants Pass, Oregon). Her parents preceded her in death.
A memorial service was held Saturday, November 30, at Central United Methodist Church, Winona, with Rev. Mary Hurmence officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer memorials to Community Memorial Hospital or Central United Methodist Church.

Whetstone, Donald C.

Donald C. Whetstone, age 90, of 1420 Lorrai Drive, died on Tuesday evening, September 24, 2002 at Community Memorial Hospital, Winona.
Donald Chester Whetstone was born on June 12, 1912, in Minnesota City, MN to Henry and Alvina (Denzer) Whetstone. On September 7, 1932, he married Lorraine O. Knoll in Winona. and they recently celebrated their 70th anniversary.
Don was a brick layer for many years throughout the area, retiring in 1981 and he received the 50 Year Brick Layer Award. He was a member of McKinley Methodist Church, Winona and the Brick Layers Union Local #7, Winona. He was a 50+ year member of Redmen Tribe #20, a member of Winona Elks #327, Winona for over 30 years and Winona County Old Settlers Association.
He is survived by his wife, Lorraine; two daughters, Audrey (Vilas) Smith and Judy Barth; four sons, Gerald (Judy) Whetstone, Lyle (Chris) Whetstone, Clifford (Marge) Whetstone and Wesley (Brenda) Whetstone all of Winona; 19 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; a brother Allen Whetstone, Minnesota City, MN; a sister-in-law, Eleanor Whetstone, Winona; special neighbors Tim and Sheryl Klug and family; a special friend Maureen Sutton and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter Marlene and one brother Glenn.
Funeral services were Friday, September 27, 2002 at 2:00 PM at McKinley United Methodist Church, Winona with Rev. Dr. Donald D. Budd, officiating. Interment was at Woodlawn Cemetery, Winona.
Casket bearers were the grandchildren
Memorials may be given to McKinley United Methodist Church, Winona or the donor's choice.
Arrangements completed by Fawcett-Junker Funeral Home of Winona.
