She was born Sept. 22, 1911, on a farm in Flaxville, Mont. She was the eldest of four children and had many responsibilities early in life because her mother was ill. She learned Norwegian first but was known for her excellent English grammar and penmanship; she graduated from Flaxville High School, where she completed two years of French.

She worked in the Scobey, Mont., area for several years before marrying Oscar Norman Allenson of Richland, Mont., (formerly of Leaf Lakes) in 1939. Their home was on a farm, but they wintered in Glasgow, Mont., where their daughter Helen Marie was born. In 1945 they moved to Vining.

In the 1950s she began making draperies for Norby's, Fergus Falls, and Sears of Minneapolis. She later worked for Coleman's, Fargo, for several years. For more than 15 years she was Supervisor of the Drapery and Slipcover workroom for Donaldson's in Minneapolis-St. Paul. After her husband's death in 1971, she sewed upholstery at Furniture Industries of Minneapolis until her retirement in 1976. Her work reflected her belief in excellence, and her life reflected her strong belief in her Creator.

She lived in Richfield before moving to Moorhead, her home for the past 20 years. Often she could be seen on a 50-block walk, but she had many talents and enjoyed her independence. She was visiting her daughter at the time of her death; at her request she was cremated.
