Eleanor Uhlig

Eleanor "Judy" Uhlig, 79, of rural Erhard, died Saturday, May 1, 2004, at her home under the care of Lakeland Hospice, after a long battle with cancer.

She was born May 7, 1924, in Grant County, to J. Oscar and Agnes (Ostlund) Johnson. She was baptized on June 25, 1924 and confirmed on May 15, 1938, at the Ness Lutheran Church of Elbow Lake. She attended the Minnesota School of Business in Minneapolis and worked in Minneapolis prior to returning to Fergus Falls.

On Jan. 3, 1947, she married Alvin L. Uhlig at the Ness Lutheran Church. The couple resided at their rural Erhard Farm. She worked at Victor Lundeen Company and also the Fergus Falls Medical Group until she retired. She enjoyed gardening, tending to her flowers and taking care of her family.

She is survived by her husband, Alvin of Erhard; four children: Linda (Garry) Erickson, Lake Park, Leslie (Sharon) Uhlig, Barnesville, Loren Uhlig, Erhard, and Lee Uhlig of Fergus Falls; four grandchildren: Cory (Stacy) Erickson, Cara (Marshal) Sullivan, Sharla Uhlig and Shawn Uhlig; four great-grandchildren: Paige, Audrey and Hailey Erickson, and Shelby Sullivan; two sisters, Marlys (Phil) Hagen of Utica, Mo., and Marion (Don) Knutson of Detroit Lakes; three brothers: Leonard Johnson of Dawn, Mo., Paul Johnson of Detroit Lakes and Jerry Johnson of Colorado Springs, Colo. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Arnold and Leon; and one sister, Ora Libke.

Memorials preferred to Lakeland Hospice or the Building Fund at Trinity Lutheran Church of Fergus Falls.

Visitation: Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service at the church

Service: 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Trinity Lutheran Church of Fergus Falls

Frank Marty

Frank D. Marty, 38, of Fergus Falls, died Monday, April 26, 2004, at his home under the care of his family and Lakeland Hospice after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.

He was born on June 23, 1965, in Long Prairie, the oldest son of William and Rita (Illies) Marty. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Joseph's Catholic Church of Grey Eagle, Minn. He grew up and graduated from high school in Grey Eagle. His undergraduate days were spent at St. Cloud State University, where he graduated with a degree in social work and a speech minor. He was very involved in campus activities and held numerous positions on the University Program Board, including president. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin, Stevens Point, with a master's degree in Organizational Communications. Ironically, his graduate thesis was a study of hospice volunteers. He was a graduate assistant and later an adjunct faculty member at the University of Wisconsin, Stevens Point.

Frank met his wife, Heidi, while they were attending St. Cloud State University. They went to graduate school together and on August 31, 1991, married in New York Mills.

He was an extremely intelligent, motivated and lovable man, who thought he had a great sense of humor. He worked for Wisconsin Gas Company and was constantly promoted. He moved to Minneapolis to work for Enron and later managed the Minnesota office. After working at Enron, he moved to Fergus Falls, where he was employed by OTESCO, a division of Ottertail Power Company. After working for OTESCO for three years, he left his job and went to work with his brother, Neil, in the family business, Fire Fighter and Detect Alarm. He had many friends and business associates who loved and respected him.

The joys of his life were his two children: Henry, 7, and Sadie Rose, 3. He enjoyed them and taught them much in their short time together. They loved to cook together, go for walks, work on computers and read.

"I could have never wished for a better father for our children, than what Frank turned out to be. I cannot imagine going on everyday without him. He was jipped out of life, but he is in a better place now. No cancer, no pain, " said his wife. He was so loved by his wife, children, family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Heidi Paulson; children, Henry Frank and Sadie Rose all of Fergus Falls; father, William Marty of Grey Eagle; brothers, Neil (Stephanie George) Marty of Sauk Centre, William Jon (Jenny Huckle) Marty of Sauk Rapids; nephews, Erik Paulson of Rochester, Justin George of Sauk Centre, Carter Marty of Sauk Centre; nieces Susan Paulson of Waite Park and Caly Jo Paulson of Rochester; great niece, Rhianna Paulson of Waite Park. Also surviving, father-in-law, Argyle Paulson of Fergus Falls; sister-in-law, Rhonda Paulson of Waite Park; brothers-in-law, Tom (Carl Starich) Paulson of Edina, Giles (Katie) Paulson of Rochester, Garth Paulson of Alexandria and many aunts and uncles, especially Uncle Bernard Marty of Grey Eagle, who was very special to Frank. He was preceded in death by his mother, Rita Illies; grandmother, Rose Illies; grandfather, Mike Illies; grandmother, Rosalia (Meagher) Marty; grandfather, Frank A. Marty; and mother-in-law, Loretta (Peterson) Paulson.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Frank Marty Fund located at the American Federal Bank in Fergus Falls.

Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the Olson Funeral Home with a 6:30 p.m. public prayer service. Visitation will resume one hour prior to the service at the church.

Service: 2 p.m. Saturday at Federated Church in Fergus Falls.

e came a time when he required specialized care. As a result he became a resident of the Fergus Falls Regional Treatment Center. He became a resident at the Oriole Group Home in Fergus Falls when it opened and has lived there since. It was obvious to the family, that the care and kindnesses he received during his years at the Fergus Falls Regional Treatment Center and the group home were comforting to John. A special word of thanks to all the individuals who cared for him over the years.

He is survived by his sister, Mary Beth (Dr. Jeff) Schlueter of Glenwood; a brother, Tom (Leona) Arneson of Fergus Falls; two nieces, Jenna (Jeremy) Myrom and Heidi Schlueter, all of Glenwood; and a nephew, Mark Arneson of Fergus Falls.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation: One hour prior to the services at the chapel

Service: 2 p.m. Thursday, May 6, at the funeral home chapel, Fergus Falls

Ruth Jarrell

Ruth Jarrell, 84, of rural Clitherall died Sunday at her home. Funeral services will be at10 a.m. Thursday at Eagle Lake Lutheran Chruch of rural Battle Lake with Rev. Don Peterson officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Glende-Nilson Funeral Home of Battle Lake is in charge of the arrangements.

RaeAnn Boese

RaeAnn "Annie" Lynn Boese, 41, Fergus Falls, died Wednesday, May 12, 2004, at Lake Region Hospital of Fergus Falls.

She was born Sept. 29, 1962, in Fergus Falls, to Lloyd and Marilyn (Moen) Boese. She was baptized at Trinity Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls and confirmed at Fergus Falls Regional Treatment Center, where she had made her home since the age of ten. In 1981, she moved to the Douglas Home. She worked at the Willows.

She enjoyed a variety of music, rocking in chairs, van riding, and swimming.

She is survived by her parents, Lloyd and Marilyn of Fergus Falls; one sister, Cheryl (Mike) Oien of Rothsay, five brothers, Paul (Vicky) Boese of Fargo, David (Stacy) Boese of Fergus Falls, Dean (Sue) Boese of Fergus Falls, Michael Boese of Fergus Falls, and Steven (Christy) Boese of Plymouth; nieces and nephews, Corin, Justin, Amber and Matt Boese, Missy and J.J. Krupich, Nikki and Taylor Oien; and her godparents, Florence Woolliscroft, and Norris Hovland. Also surviving are aunts, uncles, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Calmer and Ruby Moen and Fred and Meta Boese.

Visitation: Friday from 3 to 5 p.m. at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service

Service: 1 p.m. Saturday at funeral home chapel, Fergus Falls

Jean Sundblad

Jean Sundblad, 65, of Fergus Falls died Monday, May 17, 2004, at Lake Region Hospital.

She was born Feb. 28, 1939, in Fergus Falls, to Arthur and Laura (Gerhardson) Hammer. She was baptized at the Salvation Army and grew up in Fergus Falls, where she attended school.

On Dec. 14, 1957, she married Leonard Sundblad at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls. They made their home in the Ashby and Fergus Falls area. Leonard died March 8, 2003. She worked as a housekeeper at Lake Region Hospital and was a nurse's aid at Pelican Lake Health Care Center in Ashby.

She truly enjoyed the outdoors and nature and loved flowers and birds. She especially enjoyed watching the baby geese and ducks in the spring. Her favorite hobbies were shopping and going to flea markets and auctions. Her family and grandchildren were very special to her.

She is survived by her children, Julie Johnson (John Campbell) of Georgia, Miriah (John) White and Kelsey Samuelson (Mike Glebke); Linda (Lee) Haugen, Melanie (Travis) Braud, Corey, Lori (Derrick) Muchow, Emilee, Jacob and great-grandchild, Chad Muchow of Fergus Falls; Duane (Tracy Johnson) Sundblad, Danielle, Eian and Emma of Fergus Falls and Lisa (Blaine) Ecker, Kaylee Holte, Molly, Amie and Matt of Fergus Falls; sisters, Lorene Krebs of Barnesville, and Cookie Nelson (Mike Sundblad) of Erhard; and brothers, Robert (Geni) Hammer of Brush Prairie, Wash., Richard Hammer of Vancouver, Wash., and Terry Hammer (Carla Harold) of Amboy, Wash.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Laura Hammer; husband, Leonard; brother, Allen Hammer; and granddaughter, Andrea Haugen.

Visitation: Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. with a 7 p.m. prayer service at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service at the church

Service: 1 p.m. Saturday at Stavanger Lutheran Church, rural Fergus Falls

Tim Runningan

Tim C. Runningan, 55, of Forest Lake died May17, 2004.

He was a former RCA employee and most recently employed with DELCom.

He is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Eldora; son, Scott and his daughter Brianna; daughter, Tamie; five siblings; many nieces & nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to donors choice in his name. Family request all condolence cards may be directed to Mattson Funeral Home & Cremation Service-343 North Shore Drive, Forest Lake, MN 55025
