Lillian Christopherson

Lillian "Christy" Christopherson, 87, formerly of Elbow Lake, died Monday, Aug. 2, 2004, at Rosewood on Broadway Care Center of Fargo.

She was born April 21, 1917, in Falsen Township, McHenry County, N.D., to Henry and Annie (Stalheim) Lee. She was baptized and confirmed at the Verendrye Lutheran Church in Verendrye, N.D., and graduated from Granville High School in 1936.

On June 9, 1939, Lillian was united in marriage to Calmer (Cal) Christopherson in Velva, North Dakota. The couple made their home in Minot until 1959, when they moved to Minnesota. They owned and operated the "Surf & Sand Motel" on Lake Minnewaska at Starbuck. From there, Calmer and Lillian moved to Morris

In 1966, Calmer and Lillian moved to Elbow Lake where Cal was employed by Amundson Equipment. Lillian was employed at the Red Owl store which became Super Valu store.

Lillian was a member of the United Lutheran Church and active in her circle. She was also active at the Senior Nutrition Center for many years. One of Lillian's favorite past times was afternoon coffee with one or more of her many friends. She also enjoyed playing the piano for her family. Lillian loved growing beautiful impatiens in her yard during the summer, and she was an avid Twins fan.

She is survived by her children, Deanna (David) Johnson of New Richmond, Wis., Gailen Christopherson of Barnesville, Kevin (Candi) Christopherson of Erhard and Carla (Chuck) Gingerich of Moorhead; daughter-in-law, Judy Christopherson of Perham; 13 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Mrs. Marlys Gjellstad and Mrs. Verdine Sollid, both of Velva.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers; her husband Calmer in 1984; and one son, Craig, who died in May 2004.

Visitation: Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. and at the church one hour prior to Friday services

Service: 2 p.m. Friday, August 6, at United Lutheran Church of Elbow Lake

Ruby Shearon

Ruby Jeanette Shearon, 56, died Friday, Aug. 6, 2004, at Moorhead Healthcare Center.

She was born March 21, 1948, in Fergus Falls, to David and Meena (Muckey) Shearon. She grew up and received her education in a country school near Erhard and in Pelican Rapids, where she graduated from high school in 1966.

As a young lady, she lived in Pelican Rapids for 2 or 3 years before moving to Fargo. In December 1999, she moved from Fargo to Moorhead. She worked for many years at Bethany Homes of Fargo.

She is survived by her father, David Shearon of Fergus Falls; a brother, Ross (Loyce) Shearon of Fergus Falls; a sister, Rosalie Davenport, Campbell, Minn.; a special friend, Michael Hanson, Moorhead; and 2 nieces and 2 nephews.

Visitation: Tuesday, from 9 to 11 a.m.

Service: Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Korsmo Funeral Chapel (409 South 8th Street), Moorhead

Buck Frank

Buck (John S.) Frank, 87, of Dent died Aug. 6, 2004, at Perham Memorial Hospital.

He was born May 28, 1917, to John A. and Mary (Henn) Frank, in Mayville, N.D. He was the first son in a family of six children. He married a beautiful rural school teacher, Lucille C. Jacobson, Nov.6, 1939, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Dent.

In 1940, the young couple took over the operation of the resort known as Frank's Lodge on Star Lake, rural Dent, that his parents had established in 1934. Buck, with the assistance of his daughters, Stephanie Jane and Mary duCharme, actively managed the resort and campground to the present time. He was a spokesman for the tourist industry and after over thirty years of advocacy, succeeded in having the culvert at the mouth of the West arm of Star Lake replaced with a bridge in 1987, greatly improving the flow of boat traffic in and out of the West arm. Star Lake Township named the bridge the Frank Memorial Bridge in appreciation of Buck and Lucille's efforts.

From the age of fourteen, he worked at various trucking jobs. His longest period of employment was with Daggett Truck Lines of Frazee, where he had a perfect safety record.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Lucille, of Dent; his children: Joyce (Howard) Weyker, Sebastopol, Calif., John M. (Kathleen) Frank, Shasta Lake, Calif., Mary (Pierre) duCharme, Dent, Karen (Jerry) Gordon, Crescent City, Calif., Beth (Bill) Weil, Snellville, Ga., Robert J. (Dona) Frank, Redding, Calif., Kris (Gery) Knuttila, Fargo, and Stephanie Jane Frank of Dent; twenty-two grandchildren; twenty-five great-grandchildren; sisters, Pauline Krekelberg, Perham, and Frances Masterson of Port Hueneme, Calif.; one brother, Leroy Frank of Granada Hills, Calif.; cousin, Jack Vasconcellos of Dent; and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by one son, Richard A. Frank, in 1965; and two grandchildren. Memorial donations may be directed to the Alzheimer's Association, West Central Minnesota Chapter, Fergus Falls.

Visitation: Tuesday, Aug. 10, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home, with a prayer service at 7: 00 p.m., as well as one hour prior to the funeral at the church.

Service: Wednesday, Aug. 11, beginning at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Dent

Emma Ferber

Emma Ferber, 93, of Fergus Falls died Saturday, Aug, 7, 2004, at Lake Region Hospital.

She was born July 5, 1911, to John and Martha (Beske) Fick. She grew up on the family farm, just north of Elizabeth, and attended school in Elizabeth. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church in Elizabeth, and on July 28, 1935, she was married at St. John's to Reuben Ferber.

They farmed in Carlisle Township until 1959 when they moved to Fergus Falls. Shortly thereafter she started working for Norby's (later Fandel's) Department Store in Fergus Falls. She worked there in the greeting card and Fanny Farmer Candy departments for 20 years. Upon retirement, she remained active in her church, having transferred to Trinity Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls. She and her three sisters were also active volunteers at Lake Region Hospital for many years.

Her true enjoyment in life was her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and what she could do for them: make jelly, can peaches and pears and knit afghans. She will be remembered for her kind and gentle ways.

She is survived by her four children: Angie (Donald) Haugen of St. Paul, Carlton (Viola) Ferber of Fergus Falls, Neota (Robert) Minks of Princeton and Janet (John) Brooberg of Fergus Falls; eight grandchildren: Jeff (Darlene) Haugen of Lino Lakes, Mark (Donnette) Haugen of White Bear Lake, Scott (Jane) Ferber of Foreston, Kim (Dr. Kaare) Tingelstad of Joseph, Ore., Michelle (Robert) Minge of Fergus Falls, Karmen (Paul) Roth of Princeton, Nathan (Emily) Brooberg of St. Louis Park and Karee (Michael) Van DeRiet of Holts Summit, Mo.; nine great-grandchildren: Michael and Matthew Haugen, Coleen McKusick and Crystal Haugen, Katie Minge, Isabelle and Ellyse Tingelstad and Kailee and Benjamin Roth; two sisters, Clara Boese and Edna Fjestad, both of Fergus Falls; and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by the following members of the Carl and Adelheid (Eckhardt) Ferber family: David and Elaine Ferber, Connie Ferber, Alta Froelich, Clare Lunde, Romonus (Monie) and Georgene Ferber and Marcia Ferber.

She was preceded in death Jan. 1, 1991, by her husband, Reuben; three brothers: Frederick who died in infancy, Arthur and Albert Fick; one sister, Alma Roehl; a sister-in-law, Ethel Fick; and three brother's in law, Harry Roehl, Raymond Boese and Clifford Fjestad. She was also preceded in death by Adella and E.C. Herrmann, Arletta Beneke, Herb Schacht, Don Beneke, Erwin Ferber, Ed Froelich, Rosetta Lunde and Kelly Ferber.

The family prefers Memorials to Trinity Lutheran Church

Visitation: Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. with a prayer service at 7 p.m. at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service at the church

Service: 11 a.m. Tuesday at Trinity Lutheran Church

Laura Paulson

Laura (Fagerberg) Paulson, 85, of Alexandria, died on Monday, Aug. 9, at Douglas County Hospital of Alexandria.

Known by friends and family as a grand lady, she was born on Aug. 6, 1919, in Elbow Lake, the daughter of Bernt and Martha (Anderson) Fagerberg. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church and graduated from Elbow Lake High School, class of 1938. She resided in Elbow Lake until joining the war effort in 1943. At that time, she and friends Ivy Fjosne and Carpy Bonrud traveled to California where she met U. S. Navy Chief Petty Officer John E. Paulson, also from Minnesota. They were married on Dec. 11, 1945, at the Naval Air Station in Coronado, Calif.

After the war, the couple returned to Minnesota. John joined the household moving business and the St. Paul Transportation Club, and they had their only child, Judith Carol. For many years, Laura worked at the Roseville City Hall as a switchboard operator and receptionist. Upon retirement, Laura and John moved to Alexandria where they have resided for the past 30 years. Laura was a member of the Bethesda Lutheran Church in Alexandria.

She is survived by her husband of 58 years, John E. Paulson of Pelican Lake Health Care Center in Ashby and daughter Judith Carol of Alexandria, sister Benina Merwin of Alexandria, brother Lindell (Marlene) Fagerberg of St. Paul, God-daughter Barbara Zuel of Aitkin, sister-in-law Lois Fagerberg of Elbow Lake, sister-in-law Mae Nelson and brother-in-law Joe Nelson of Bloomington, and brother-in-law George Paulson of Northfield, and many nieces and nephews.

Laura was preceded in death by her parents Bernt and Martha Fagerberg, sisters Myrtle Sandberg and Beulah Fagerberg, brother Pastor Merle Fagerberg, as well as niece Susan Sandberg and nephews David Merwin and Craig Fagerberg.

Visitation: Aug.16 from11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the funeral home

Charles Rudh

Charles C. Rudh, 90, of San Bernardino, Calif, died Saturday at his home.

He was born March 31, 1914, in Rothsay to Elmer and Calma (Grefsrud) Rudh. He was a former used car dealer in Fergus Falls several years before moving to San Bernardino. He owned Charlie's Car Sales there for 40 years. He was a member of the Eagles Aerie and Elks Lodge of Fergus Falls.

He made several trips back to Minnesota during summers and winters to fish.

He is survived by his wife Selma (Kopperud); six sons: Paul (Barbara) of Fargo, John (Rose) and Donald both of San Bernardino, David of Redding, Calif., Michael (LuAnn) of Fergus Falls and Steven of Polson, Mont.; three daughters: Margaret (Donald) Koester of Fergus Falls, Vicki Rudh-Jones (Mike) of Beloit, Ill., and Lee Ann Harp of San Bernardino; 13 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a sister-in-law, Adeline Rudh of Rothsay, two nephews and several cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Raymond Rudh of Rothsay and a grandson of California

He was a member of Highland Ave. Lutheran Church of San Bernardino.

Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to the Highland Ave. Lutheran Church, 1820 E. Highland Ave., San Bernardino, Calif. 92404.

Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Bobbitt Memorial Chapel, 1229 E. Highland Ave. of San Bernardino, Calif.

Service: Graveside services 10 a.m. Thursday at Montecito Memorial Park, Waterman Ave. and Barton Road, Colton.
