Steven Carlson

Steven Scott Carlson, 48, of Fergus Falls died Tuesday, Aug. 31, 2004, at his home, due to complications from brain cancer.

He was born Aug. 11, 1956, in Breckenridge, to David B. and Shirley A. (Scott) Carlson. He was baptized at Western Presbyterian church and confirmed at Federated church in Fergus Falls. He graduated from Fergus Falls High School in 1974.

On July 8, 1978, he married Karen Dewey at the Federated Church of Fergus Falls. The couple lived in Western Township and in June 2004 moved into Fergus Falls. He was the founder and owner of Superior Plow Blades, Inc.

He attended the First Church of the Nazarene in Fergus Falls, where he enjoyed being a member and praising God. He also enjoyed airplanes, motorcycles, guns, Rendevous, camping, creating things and Men's Friday Breakfast. He was active in Orwell 4-H in his younger years and also enjoyed bowling and playing softball. He loved his son, Travis, and enjoyed spending time with him and doing things together.

He is survived by his wife, Karen Carlson of Fergus Falls; son, Travis and Heather (Johnson) Carlson of Fergus Falls; brothers, Lester and Deb (Stock) Carlson of Fergus Falls and Marc and Peggy (Shol) Carlson of Fergus Falls; sister, Jody and Craig Ecker of Fergus Falls and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Carl and Viola Carlson, and parents, Dave and Shirley Carlson.

Visitation: No reviewal

Service: 10 a.m. Thursday at First Church of the Nazarene

Ellen Hanson

Ellen (Truman) Hanson, 93, of the Barrett Care Center died Sunday, Aug. 29, 2004, at the Center.

She was born Sept. 1, 1910, in Pelican Lake Township of rural Ashby, to William and Mathilde (Kessel) Wohlers. She attended country school and graduated from the Park Region Luther College in 1928. During college, she lived and worked in various homes in Fergus Falls. Upon graduation, she returned to Grant County and worked in Alexandria and the Grant County Courthouse.

On Jan. 1, 1942, she married Leonard Truman Hanson, and the couple made their home on a farm near Elbow Lake. She was a dedicated wife and mother. She enjoyed her flower and vegetable gardens, took great pride in her handiwork, and was an active member of her Homemakers club. She was devoted to her church and the mission of Jesus Christ. She taught Sunday school, vacation bible school, and actively participated in LWML at Christ Lutheran Church. She was interested in her son Dean's ministry.

She is survived by her son, Dean (Lois) Hanson of Pleasanton, Neb.; two grandsons, Eric (Christy) Hanson of Republic, Mo., and Bryan (Nancy) Hanson of Holdrege, Neb.; two great--grandchildren, Bailee and Jacob Hanson; and one sister, Ruth Mickelson of Elbow Lake.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Truman (1997), and four sisters: Myrtle Woessner, Margie Schaeffer, Emma Hanson Lade and Esther Johnson.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Christ Lutheran Church or the Lutheran Hour.

Visitation: Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. and at the church one hour before services

Service: 10:30 a.m. Friday at Christ Lutheran Church of Elbow Lake

Susan Myster

Susan A. Myster, 63, of Fergus Falls died Wednesday, Aug. 25, 2004, at her home.

She was born March 25, 1941, in Grafton, N.D., to Duncan and Virginia (Baumgartner) Meagher. She graduated from WCAS High School in Park River, N.D., attended Macalester College in St. Paul and graduated from Arizona State University in Tempe, Ariz. She then attended graduate school at UCLA.

Jay and Susan Myster were married June 29, 1969, in Park River, N.D. She taught high school in California, North Dakota and Minnesota. She was active on many boards and activities in Fergus Falls. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Fergus Falls.

She is survived by her husband, Jay of Fergus Falls; one daughter, Shannon (Chad) Schaefer of Rogers; two sons, Douglas of Flagstaff, Ariz., and Robert of Fergus Falls; one grandchild, Connor Schaefer; and one sister, Nancy (Larry) Budish of Fargo.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Duncan and Virginia Meagher.

Visitation: Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service at the church

Service: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, at Grace United Methodist Church of Fergus Falls

Molly Will

Molly O. Will, 82, of Briggsdale, Colo., died Wednesday, Aug. 18, 2004, at North Colorado Medical Center of Greeley, Colo.

She was born Jan. 31, 1922, to Albert and Bertha (Mandelkow) Muller, in Moorhead, Minn. She married Fritz (Fred) Will of Briggsdale June 30, 1943, at Trinity Lutheran Church of Greeley, Colo.

She was raised and educated at Foxhome, Minn. She and Fred were pen pals. She came to Greeley in 1941, where she worked as a maid and a waitress for two years. After their marriage, they lived on their ranch, The Point Of Rocks Ranch, at Briggsdale, for 58 years. She continued to live on the ranch, until her health required her to move to a nursing home.

She loved cooking, gardening, reading, and her cat, Lucky.

She played the guitar and sang for everyone. She was grateful for all the loving care she received from her family.She was especially gratefule to Lynda Ann Will, when she was unable to care for herself. She called Lynda her angel. Her love and devotion to her entire family, from her children, grandchildrenm, great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews, loved her dearly.

She is survived by a daughter, Lynelle A. Ramirez (Jesse) of Greeley; four sons: Fred W. Will (Lynda) of Briggsdale, Richard L. Will (Linda) of Eaton, Leonard R. Will (Nancy) of Briggsdale, and Larry P. Will (friend-Cheryl Williams) of Fort Collins; and two brothers, Walter Muller and Harvey Muller, both of Minnesota. Also survived by eleven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daugher, Nancy Ann Will; a daughter-in-law, Myrna Will; two sisters; and five brothers.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Trinity Lutheran Church, in care of Adamson Memorial Downtown Chapel, 827 5th Street, Greeley, CO 80631.

Visitation: Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m. at Adamson Memorial Downtown Chapel

Meryl Johnson

Meryl Johnson, 59, of Battle Lake died Friday, July 23, 2004, at Lake Region Hospital of Fergus Falls.

She born Feb. 23, 1945, in Fergus Falls, to Alvin and Ruby (Jorud) Albertson. She was baptized April 21, 1945 by Reverend Torgney Kleven at Rindal Lutheran Church and was confirmed on May 29, 1960 by Reverend Robert Krueger at First Lutheran Church of Battle Lake. She grew up in Battle Lake and graduated from Battle Lake High School in 1963.

On Sept. 25, 1965, she married Dayle E. Johnson in First Lutheran Church with Pastor Kordahl officiating. They lived in Battle Lake after their marriage and then moved to Beulah, N.D., in 1977. In 1981 they returned to their home in Battle Lake. She was a Legal Secretary for Field, Arveson, Donoho, Lundeen and Hoff in Fergus Falls and later worked for the Battle Lake Review. Then she became a Loan Officer for the First National Bank of Battle Lake.

She enjoyed flowers, gardening, oil painting, golf, horses, birds, lake activities and was an avid reader. She was Dayle's Hunting Buddy for many years and enjoyed her family, especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed following her family's activities.

She is survived by her husband, Dayle of Battle Lake; three children: Tamara (Jason) Hintermeister and their children Hanna Jo, Levi, and Jacob of Garfield, Minn., Dr. Timothy (Kristin) Johnson and their children Brittany and Jonah of New York Mills, and Tiffany (Kyle) Bergem of Battle Lake; brother, Duane (Norma) Albertson of Ocean Shores, Wash.; and two sisters, LaVay (Jerald) Hickerson of Thief River Falls and Vonette (Warren) Busch of Richville, Minn., and by many relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Alvin and Ruby Albertson; and one sister, JoAnne Fay.

Visitation: 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service at the church

Service: 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 26, at First Lutheran Church of Battle Lake

Donald Walen

Donald Kent Walen, 57, of Fergus Falls died Thursday, Aug. 19, 2004, at his home under the excellent care of Lakeland Hospice.

He was born Dec. 8, 1946, in Jamestown, N.D., to Kenneth and Elaine (Johnson) Walen. He grew up in Glenfield, N.D., attended college in Wahpeton, N.D., and served his country in Vietnam. He eventually made his home in Fergus Falls.

He loved his family, friends, hunting, fishing and playing cards with his good friend, Howard, at the Minnesota Veterans Home in Fergus Falls.

He is survived by his wife, Beth (Masten) Walen of Fergus Falls, their daughter, Holly; a son, Jeff of Plymouth, Minnesota, and daughter, Tammy (Andy) Hofer of Vergas, Minnesota; his mother, Elaine of Glenfield, North Dakota; brothers, Curt (Nyla) of Carrington, North Dakota; and John (Donita) of Tenstrike, Minnesota; and three grandchildren, Ashley, Lindsey, and Joshua. Also surviving are his nieces and nephews, Michael, Cassie, Ryan, and Krista.

He was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth.
